Crude futures held steady in early Asian trade on Thursday after hitting a seven-week peak as violence in Syria revived geopolitical fears and as the U.S. Federal Reserve downplayed risks of a double-dip recession.
Gold edged up on Thursday after two straight sessions of losses as the dollar weakened, although investors were less than convinced of its direction given the uncertainty over Fed's stimulus measures and persistent worries about Europe.

Analysts expect quarterly EPS at Peabody $BTU the largest coal producer by output, of $0.53 on revenue of $2.06B vs. $1.05 and $2.01B a year ago. The outlook for Arch Coal $ACI and Alpha Natural $ANR looks equally depressing.
Has Zynga's $ZNGA selloff made it a value stock? The company's forward multiples have become moderate, and its net cash now makes up 45% of its market cap. Controversial CEO Mark Pincus has been busy trying to defend Zynga: He claims Zynga wants to have 1B gamers (up over 3x) and predicts its analytics tools and infrastructure will reel in 3rd-party developers, but admits mobile games are having a disruptive impact, and can have trouble taking off if they fail to obtain top app store placement.
