26,
Yankees also have better record than a Mets team that leads the National League in wins.
After Tigers, Yankees have second best record in MLB.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/standings
This logic would indicate that Schilling and Beckett are the Red Sox MVP's because each has 13 wins. While Ortiz only has 5 game winning hits this season.
Although there are some people that find this difficult to believe, .602 is greater than .600.
American League
East W L Pct
NY Yankees 62 41 .602
Boston 63 42 .600
susie,
If Jeter can have a cologne what about Ortiz?
"Big Papi's Pooper Scooper"
http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product_detail.asp?pf%5Fid=20735809&dept%5Fid=449&brand%5....
According to victor, it could be used to dispose of all the "crap" Ortiz has to take about being considered for MVP. lol
How many bottles of cologne will be sold in Boston or Ocala, Fl.?
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/08/01/jeter.cologne.ap/
If Jeter wins the batting title does he get MVP consideration.
Not just a part-time player...
Plays solid fundamental baseball, clutch and situational hitting, defense, steals bases, hits behind runners, etc, etc, etc....
And would rather have another ring instead of an MVP.

26, Susie, Linchuck
This reponse indicates that we are not really being ignored.
can't believe people are still beating the dead horse of the MVP. And the more people denigrate Ortiz the dumber they look.
If 26 is being ignored, how does he know what is being posted about the Ortiz? lol
Susie,
I don't know about Fenway, but at Yankee Stadium the dugout is air conditioned and well as heated for the colder weather.
The vents were pointed out by the guide when I took the Yankee Stadium tour last year.
Should Met players use another means of transportation from the airport, other than taking a taxi.
Mets reliever Duaner Sanchez is questionable for the remainder of the season after being hospitalized today for a separated right shoulder, a team official confirmed this afternoon. Sanchez, 26, was injured Sunday in a taxi accident after the team arrived in Miami.
In August 2004 Mets pitcher Tom Glavine lost his two front upper teeth in an automobile accident while going from LaGuardia Airport to nearby Shea Stadium in a taxi cab.
Susie,
Mike is the Yankees fan and Chris Russo is a Giants fan.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_%22Mad_Dog%22_Russo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Francesa#Mike_and_the_Mad_Dog
Susie,
I only expect Yankee players to get trashed by a certain Red Sox fan on ihub and RB, not WFAN.
skunksyard,
It was a force of habit.
I am so used to responding to another Red Sox fan about the AL MVP. lol
Beltran
AVG .282 | HR 32 | RBI 94 | OBP .385 | SLG .628 ...
and he also plays a position.
Yankees made their moves without mortgaging their future.
Although they did trade a prospect named "Jesus" for Abreu.
Cashman would have been better off talking to Victor...
Heated exchange between Chris "Mad Dog" Russo and Brian Cashman.
http://wfan.com/homepage/local_audioclip_212181904.html
Russo says that Lidle is a terrible pitcher and called Cashman a liar for saying that there would be no Abreu deal without Lidle.
Cashman replys that Russo was wrong about Wang.
Russo goes off on how worthless Farnsworth and Wright are and Cashman goes went ballistic.
Cashman tells Russo to stop "trashing" Yankee players.
54,
It's a moot point, because Washington is getting a new stadium.
http://www.jdland.com/dc/stadium.cfm
Tampa Bay is not replacing the "Trop".
With a outfield of Matsui, Damon and Abreu, I wonder what roles Melky and Bernie will have in 2007.
What chance does a Yankee's shortstop prospect have?
The Yankees sent the Phillies 20-year-old minor-league shortstop C.J. Henry -- their No. 1 pick in 2005 -- and 27-year-old left-handed reliever Matt Smith. The Phillies also received minor league catcher Jesus Sanchez and right-hander Carlos Monasterios, while the Yankees took on responsibility for Abreu and Lidle's contracts.
Liddle's ability to provide stability to the back of the rotation could be more important than Abreu's bat.
Doesn't matter if Yankees score 6 runs a game when their pitching gives up 19 runs.
Anyway Liddle has to be an upgrade over Ponson and Chacon.
Linchuck,
Now that it is almost certain that Yankees will not pick up Sheffield's option for 2007, I wonder what type of attitude and performance we can expect if and when he returns.
SSKILLZ1,
I believe you are referring to Carlos Beltran.
It's good to see that he is justifying his salary and putting up MVP numbers.
If memory serves me correctly Beltran was also being booed by the Mets fans early in the season. I remember him being so upset about the treatment, Julio Franco had to prod him to take a curtain call after a home run.
So to your earlier point about A-Rod, there are some dumb fans on both sides.
Susie,
Being in first on the last day of the season is the only thing that counts.
Yankees only have to stay close throughout August and September.
Anyone that's visited Disney World in July or August can answer that question.
"why do they need an indoor stadium in the "sunshine" state".
Susie,
Yankees contribute $1000.00 to Torre's Safe at Home charity every time a Yankee player hits a home run at the Stadium.
The way things are going this year they go raise more money by changing the formula...
$1000.00 contribution for every time A-Rod strikes out or makes an out with runners in scoring position.
Susie,
How about the age excuse?
Johnson usually pitches well on warm Summer days and yesterday's weather was extremely hot.
Nebula,
No matter where he works Steve Phillips is good at making up stories about A-Rod.
Soxfan,
Is that the one with the middle name?
Linchuck,
26, my son and I will also be wearing Yankee jerseys. I guess you will be able to find Soxfan by his Red Sox jersey. lol
PegnVA,
Victor doesn't think so.
Two ballplayers with well known names in New York.
Mench and Putz.
http://www.answers.com/topic/mensch
http://www.answers.com/topic/putz
However, I don't believe that JJ Putz could ever pitch in New York. Fans and media would have a field-day with his sur-name.
Especially if he didn't do well.
Susie,
One of those weddings where you periodically ask the waiters or bartenders for score updates on the game.
PegnaVA,
Could you ever say that about victor? lol
Susie,
I will be at the second game with my son.
Susie,
I thought we were only talking about Red Sox fans.
Susie,
RedSox fan is being sincere.
However, who do you think has a better chance of seeing a Red Sox vs. Yankee game at the stadium with 26...
RedSox fan or victor?
26,
Watching the Devil Rays at the "Trop" epitomizes the expression "Buy Cheap, Get Cheap".
Susie,
Fasano needs some work to comply with the Yankees dress code.
http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/images/2006/03/10/SHEM8tCX.jpg
The Kris Benson trade may not look too bad after all..
"Mark Prior threw 5 2-3 hitless innings before departing after 103 pitches. He matched zeros with Mets rookie John Maine, who tossed seven innings of three-hit ball (all soft singles)."
Linchuck,
Can he sustain it for another 3 years. Rivera will be 39 going on 40 in 2009.
Susie,
What's next...
Will Andy Phillips file an sexual harrassment claim against A-Rod?
The Ameriquest Field "Kiss Cam" centered on an unsuspecting Rodriguez in the visitors' dugout after the sixth inning, and he made the most of it.
The Yankees third baseman turned and kissed Andy Phillips on the back of the head, drawing loud applause from his old fans who boo him every chance they get.
