American Airlines Set to Join the Dow Jones Transportation Average
Source: PR Newswire (US)
NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines Group Inc. (NASD: AAL) will replace Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW) in the Dow Jones Transportation Average after the close of trading on Wednesday, October 14. The change will be effective with the opening of trading on Thursday, October 15. The index change was prompted by the pending acquisition of Con-way by XPO Logistics Inc. (NYSE: XPO). This change will increase the weighting of airlines in the index, reflecting the larger total market capitalization of companies in that sub industry group relative to the trucking sub-industry group.
American Airlines Group, headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, is the holding company for American Airlines and US Airways.
The change won't cause any disruption in the level of the Indices. The divisor used to calculate the Indices from their components' prices on their respective home exchanges will be changed prior to the opening on October 15. This procedure prevents any distortion in the indices' reflection of the portion of the U.S. stock market they are designed to measure.

GSCO all over AAL & JBLU only.
Looks like another false green market. Majority of stocks red yet SP Dow etc all up big green...
I was about to post that a bounce is in order. All airlines dipped across the board. They all bounced.
Wow..
American Airlines to join Dow Transportation average!
Can't stand those caffeine posters. Flip flopping all day long to whichever direction the stock goes.
All things exposed to China will blame China for missed numbers or weak guidance. And what isn't tied to the Chinese these days....
Hell no haha.
damn.....
Side note: YUM is down 16% and ADBE down 11% AH on earnings which will SURELY equate to a red opening on the market tomorrow. So $37's it is.
Later guys.
Alright man I'll add another 9k shares tops under $38. That's it for me man. I'm trying to look at this glass half full. As a gift for October because I see not a single damn reason this should be not only down 5% today, but down over 25% on the year at friggin $38.
46% DAYUMN!
My gut says D buy here, but my mind says hell no they may take us back to $37's tomorrow. They easily took this down $2 plowing through key levels.
Weren't you the one screaming short left and right last week? Lol which one is it...
Dude we wasted all of 2015 on this. Stock is down over 25% on the year. Total waste of time. If I closed my position here at $44 end of 2014 and put it with my current Netflix position I would have made fortunes. But hey woulda coulda shoulda right?
They are forcing capitulation here constantly. And it's no surprise they give this a 1 year target average of $50 or so as it hangs out down here. Crooks.
Spot on with this post Ralph. Looks like your concern saw this coming. I'll call it a nice call.
5% wow. Gave back all of yesterday's gains plus some.
Got this on my radar now thanks!
Man didn't catch this!
Come on $11
Smell Goldman all over this 4% drop. They were probably behind the pump yesterday. I should have been watching L2/L3
Damn this was a $15 stock after all wow. NO ONE wants to own this...
Dow is 850 points away from recent tested lows just a week ago. I'm just hoping it doesn't give all that back for another test. HIGHLY doubt it.
Hope so. That's right there at my average
What are you expecting? As I said last week I have no idea what to expect at this point after watching DAL report...
Tell me about it bro!
When do we get traffic?
Got your hands full this morning bud...
IBB... Ouch
Well there goes the oil up/AAL up theory. What do these airlines really trade on?
Oh wow
Union President at American Airlines Resigns
Source: Dow Jones News
FORT WORTH, Texas—The flight attendants' union at American Airlines said its president will resign Friday.
Laura Glading told leaders of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants over the weekend that she planned to step down in December, but the union said on its website Monday that Ms. Glading moved up her resignation date.
Ms. Glading's term was scheduled to end in less than six months, and she had already indicated she wouldn't seek re-election.
In her resignation letter, which she posted on Facebook, Ms. Glading cited a potential recall election and appealed for unity within the union. Some flight attendants were unhappy with Ms. Glading over the union's agreement to a contract that didn't include profit-sharing.
Ms. Glading has been president of the American Airlines flight attendants' union since 2008. After the airline filed for bankruptcy protection and then merged with US Airways in 2013, the group became the bargaining agent for all 25,000 cabin crew members at both airlines.
Ms. Glading said the union-backed merger saved the jobs of 5,000 flight attendants and led to pay raises of 13% to 16%.
Especially agree with that last sentence, trading this on volatility is the move right now.
Very nice post Kevin.
