hey! Lee, I'm way past that........3 short of 4 score......enjoy your posts and insert my occasional rant.
whoe is the piper?
Joblessness causes economic weakness not economic weakness causing joblessness. The economy is over 70% dependent on consumer demand. Perhaps it's simply because all of the high paying jobs were allowed to be shipped overseas! These musings of the people running the country are simply beyond belief!
Brightness, I did not take it as an "altercation". fois gras simply stated her opinion as I did mine. You seem to have an ucontrollable desire to debate everlastingly!
Courtesy, Brightness, courtesy. Zab responded out of courtesy, you directed the post to him and he responded. Perhaps it was not the response you expected however it was his response!
I think China supplies the saturday night specials!
sad,.....sad,....sad!!!!, all for not!!!!
Thanks pants.
Pants - Did you hire them on contract or hourly and how much were you paying them. square foot or hourly? Just curious.....thanks
Pantmaker – Just what does GDI measure. Does it reflect distribution of income by demographics? For example, does it lump Lloyd C. Blankfein’s income with a burger flipper at McDonalds? It would be interesting to know at precisely what societal level the increase in GDI occurred.
Might it have something to do with the calendar date?
Perhaps this is precisley the reason Bill Moyers was gently eased out of his spot on PBS TV.
The Russian version is oy-yoy-yoy accompanied with a shaking of the head from side to side. <g>

Perhaps that should read, today Russia is being pillaged by the international bankers and oligarchs.
Thanks for the insight Fabian, much appreciated!
The other day someone on this thread suggested headlines from the "Onion" should be labeled as fake. At least the onion makes no bones about its headlines being fake.
"less than a day ago on marketwatch.com : Aug. 5, 2011, 8:03 p.m. EDT "S&P said to back away from U.S. downgrade" "
Fabian - the problem resides not in "them" we elect, but in "them" who influence "them" we elect. Lobbyists and who control them come to mind. Sending a newly elected politician to D.C. is like turning a hot chick lose in the playground of San Quentin, their chances of survival are minimal.
Perhaps it's the new player in the equation, the gigantic pool of speculative money created by Bernanke - like a sponge, is able to sop up everything OPEC can conceivably pump, that is the problem.
"now that their ability to pump more is gone"
CME halts trading on gas, crude oil...............
http://www.zerohedge.com/article/energy-futures-market-halted
Yes Lee, oil at $100/barrel. Price of a gallon of gas is higher now than it was when oil was at $150/barrrel. go figure.
Bruce - Our Christian Bible states "thou shalt not steal" How many bankers et al, are sworn into public office with their hand on the bible.
"It is against Sharia Law for a brother in Islam to "Borrow" a security before selling it short to an unwashed infedel"
As Moakin phrased it in one of his posts..........
to create a state of "obedience and compliance"
<<<how is that porno-scan machine contract working out for "infrastructure safety"?>>>
It wasn't put in to create "safety" but to create a state of mind........and is doing that quite well it seems.
Why is it that some contracts have to be honored while others don't?
Home invaders take $750,000 in silver..........................
"A Chilliwack man says he is traumatized after he was punched, stabbed and tied up by home-invading thieves who made off with his life savings in silver bars."

I'm a steelers man too...........
Fabian, It must be hard to get rid of that feeling.
Perhaps it is those who employ him.
Yes Newly, Zeev was a man like no other.
Zeev was also the forerunner of high frequency trading. He would scalp the same stocks multiple times daily...........all with only his fat fingers. <g>
My deepest respects for Jim Quince.......may he rest in peace.
Fabian, Your posts are appreciated by others besides myself I'm sure.......as for you and newly, you do add a little entertaining frivolity to the thread.
...........And don't forget Fabians occasional ghost story.
BINGO!............... <<<<"Haiti has nothing we want.">>>>

The centrifugal separator was first manufactured by Gustaf de Laval, making it possible to separate cream from milk faster and more easily, without having to let the milk set and sour. Possibly because of the fact that Gustaf de Laval manuafactured the first cream separators,[3] many people give the credit of the invention to de Laval (1870s). However, many patents appear before his, all of them labeled as 'improvements'. One of the very first specifically for cream separation was patented by W. C. L. Lefeldt and C. G. O. Lentsch.[4] Probably the origins of the idea of using centrifugal force to separate cream from milk is unknown.
Gustaf de Laval's construction made it possible to start the largest separator factory in the world, Alfa Laval AB. The milk-separator represented a significant industrial breakthrough in Sweden. Within the first decade in the 1900s there were over twenty separator manufacturers in Stockholm, Sweden. Separators (albeit in slightly modified form) are also used on ships to purify oil.

Perhaps they got the idea from the dairy industry.....cream seperators come to mind. Every farmer with a milking cow used to have one. Invented 100+ years ago.
bas - you hit the nail on the head. It is no longer government by the people and for the people but government by the dollar and for the dollar!
This was during the depression:
Had a grandfather who used to bury his money in a mason jar in the garden. He would periodically dig it up and rebury it in a different location just for safety. Well the inevitable day of a memory lapse came......he forgot where he buried it. He harangued grandmother for days insisting she took it. Realizing this was getting him nowhere, back he went to the garden with his trusty shovel. He pretty much tilled that whole garden before he eventually found it. Grandmother ribbed him for years, otherwise we would never have known about it.
