Joblessness causes economic weakness not economic weakness causing joblessness. The economy is over 70% dependent on consumer demand. Perhaps it's simply because all of the high paying jobs were allowed to be shipped overseas! These musings of the people running the country are simply beyond belief!

A paper presented by Edward Lazear, another former Bush aide, sought to tackle whether the rise in U.S. joblessness was simply due to economic weakness or whether it reflected a fundamental structural shift in the economy.
