I like to think of it as Goliath and 10 little Davids. But then, that's just me. <g>
Thanks, ksquared! Those shirtless kids are nuts - I kept wondering how proud their parents must be! Actually, I wasn't there. I decided against it Fri. evening when it was apparent Joe was staying. I was able to see the game tho & enjoyed it immensely. Sorry about your big game but I guess that one was very predictable this year.
He could be running to the table on Thanksgiving! <g>
Good mornin', Hoagie. Man, that sure would be a mess. At least the BCS standings are right at the moment - when I first saw the polls last night I figured you guys might be screwed. These next few weeks will get interesting for sure!
Good mornin', Hoagie. At least now the boys can concentrate on the biggest issue - the game!
Btw, it's 7:01 here in the east and I'm hoping that OU doesn't suck tonight! <g>
I guess it won't be needed. Joe told students at the pep rally tonight to ignore the rumors - tomorrow will NOT be his last game & that he would be back next year!
Of course, technically, the bowl game will be next year.....let the speculation continue. <g>
A loss? I think not, Fuzzy! <g>
Yep, if I don't go & it happens, I'll regret it the rest of my life. But I just don't see it in this manner.
Still haven't decided as yet.
Lol! Yeah, people love that rumor but when he doesn't retire tomorrow, it'll be a moot point anyway.
From ESPN:
"One Internet message-board story has Paterno announcing his retirement at halftime and then handing the team over to defensive coordinator Tom Bradley for the bowl game. Because Paterno is expected to have 100 members of his family in attendance, including all five of his children, a leap was naturally made.
"'Everybody is looking for some kind of sign that something's going on. There isn't,' said Jay Paterno, Joe's son and quarterbacks coach."
I figured that would make your day. <g>
Now watch that stuff, youngster! <g>
I'm hoping he makes an appearance on the field before the game - the stadium would go absolutely nuts!
Lol!
I don't know. It all sounds a little too kinky to me. <g>
Pantyhose? I'll have you know that I never wear those outside the house! This whole conversation reminds me of a late Nov. game against Notre Dame back in the 80's. It was 35 degrees & pouring down rain - the most miserable game weather I've ever sat thru. I don't know how many layers I had on but I topped it off with a kinda off white ski outfit covered with a clear plastic rain suit. Everyone said I looked like the Michelin Man. Lol! Fortunately we won that game.
Well, I sure can't argue with the truth. <g>
Thanks for your vote of confidence. The good thing is that I can wait til Sat. morning to decide. <g>
I know. That is exactly what I am wrestling with. :(
Lol!
Thank you, KK. Here is something I wasn't aware of and another sidebar to add to the drama on Sat.
Penn State is one win away from joining Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska and Ohio State as programs with 800 victories. Michigan is the NCAA leader with 872.
Game temp. supposed to be in the high 20's with wind chill about 15 - I haven't decided yet whether I'm going or watching from the comfort of my TV room. I hate to be a wuss but I really, really hate the cold anymore. ;)
I'm anxious to see what the students do on Sat. I'm certain @ some point they will salute him in some fashion, win or lose.
I do too. I really believe that the only reason Joe might go would be health related. I guess he's having the hip surgery on Sunday.
I don't think so. Joe will stay as long as he wants to. Spanier doesn't have the nads to push him out - he'd be ridden out of State College on a rail. From what I hear, Joe has more friends on the Board of Trustees than Spanier also. They understand the money angle.
No, the real scary thing is that it might be true! ;)
Congrats on that - great move by the powers that be. Looks like Fla. State has started a trend. Someone asked Joe the other day if a "coach in waiting" was considered for his replacement and he said, "No, my replacement may not have even been born yet." <g>
Fortunately, we are just south of the major snow belt so we do get some of the Lake effect but not the real serious stuff. We have less than an inch right now & the forecast for today & tomorrow is maybe another 3" total. Areas east of Erie & south of Buffalo could get a foot or more thru Tues. They can have it! I'm not ready for that kind of winter wonderland just yet. <g>
Lol!
But you've always had BB - I've had to spend my winters watching C-Span. ;)
Another surprise yesterday was Rutgers big win over S. Fla. After losing their first 4 or 5 games, they have worked their way to a bowl game with just one more win. Nice turn around for the "Jersey Boys".
Did you happen to catch the end of the Navy/ND game? I don't think I've ever seen a team recover 2 straight onside kicks like that. It would have been special had they actually pulled off the upset. Nothing against ND but you have to root for the underdog in a situation like that.
Ind. went to the Rose Bowl that year? I actually don't remember that. Of course, it was the 60's - who remembers much in that decade. <g>
So you need to beat A&M & hope for a Ok. win over Tech? I assume Mizzou is a lock on the North. I think you guys are sitting pretty good right now with that scenario. Best of luck.
Lol! Is that the old movie where Matt Dillon was "the thing" or a remake?
Thanks Fuzzy. They put up a good fight in the first half. One of these years Ind. will surprise everyone.
So if the Beavers win out & PSU beats the Spartans on Sat., we have a rematch in the Rose Bowl? That's dumb. I really don't like the BCS.
Mornin' Hoagie. Hey, you may have started it but we all have needed it. <g>
Look at Oregon State. 2 more wins & they go to the Rose Bowl with 3 losses over a USC team that is probably far superior.
Lol! I'll bring the chips & beer. Do I need a sleeping bag?
They are amazing. Probably the best team out there right now. Hard to understand that loss to Ole Miss.
