Hey Greenhorn - Sounds like you're in the same boat as the rest of us. Waiting and watching. Taking a stab at it now and then. Sure wish I had taken a stab at IVEH last week - LOL. It was fun watching something run, even though I wasn't in it. Hope somebody I know made some money on it!
Yes, rctrader2 is around. Still doing his newsletter. (I am guessing you aren't subscribing right now??) He doesn't post much on Bobz anymore. The whole mentality over there as been so raunchy lately - it's not worth it. I go over there to sling mud once in a while, but that's about it. rc is mostly posting at SI and RB, I guess.
I think you're right on the market - I'm still not expecting too much to happen for a while. Too much fear still in play.
Pretty sad, isn't it? LOL.
I've been talking to myself all weekend!
But that's nothing new...
Plato - check your email! eom
More info on this 'artist' -
Eminem currently faces two felony charges: one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. The incident occurred at a Detroit night club last year after the rapper claimed to have seen another man kissing his wife. After he attempted to slash her wrists last year, his wife divorced him.
Eminem's mother has filed a $10 million defamation suit against him. He refuses to settle. (One of the songs on this CD is about raping his mother.)
Eminem, couple of months ago, made Spin magazine's list of the 100 all time sleaziest moments in rock. Why? Because he brought his daughter to work...
...to a recording session for a song that was an elaborate fantasy about murdering his wife ("Kim" - the song in question here) and *** recorded his three-year-old child's reactions*** and mixed them into the final cut. --It is his OWN 3 year old little girl that you hear in this song on the CD.
Off Topic - Do something productive and helpful
this weekend - As a survivor of domestic violence, this is a topic that is very near and dear to me.... Your help is needed -Please read following info regarding this years Grammy Awards and speak up to help stop the promotion of violence. (BTW, I'm posting this at Bobz too - LOL - THAT should be interesting!)
Thanks for emailing them, posting around the net, and or sending this to people on your personal email list.
RAISE YOUR VOICE AGAINST FAMILY VIOLENCE at http://www.stopfamilyviolence.org
On February 21, over 60 million Americans will tune their TV to CBS to watch the 43rd annual Grammy Awards. The question of what they see could depend on you -
Among the nominees for “Best Album of the Year” is the violence and hate filled “Marshal Mathers LP” (Aftermath/Interscope Records), by rap musician, Eminem. One song on this album depicts Eminem’s verbal and physical abuse, and ultimately, murder of his wife. In another song, he talks about raping his mother and killing gays.
Free-speech is fine. Eminem has a right to make his music, and the public has a right to buy it. But the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) made a choice to reward Eminem by nominating his music for 4 Grammy awards, including the prestigious “Best Album of the Year”. We find this choice reprehensible.
There are still choices left to be made. Traditionally, each nominee for “best album” has an opportunity to perform live during the awards ceremony. So far, CBS and NARAS have not decided whether to let Eminem perform. CBS can also choose to air educational commercials about spousal abuse, and NARAS can choose to have their awards presenter speak about the ravages of domestic violence in this country. Encourage them to act responsibly, and not give a further platform to violence and hate.
Please visit http://www.stopfamilyviolence.org to let CBS and NARAS know about the choices you want them to make at the Grammy Awards ceremony. Your message could make all the difference in what 60 million Americans view on Feb 21.
Together, we can…. http://www.stopfamilyviolence.org
PLEASE DO NOT CIRCULATE THIS MESSAGE AFTER FEBRUARY 21 – BY THEN, IT WILL BE TOO LATE!
**************
I encourage you to edit the letter on the website to suit your own expression, or write your own message if you’re so moved. Remember, we have choices to make too – we can decide not to watch their program this year, or decide not to buy products from the program’s sponsors. You may wish to tell CBS about the choices you will be making in your letter.
For those who live in the Los Angeles area (or are interested in traveling) there will be a protest rally at the Staples Plaza at 3 pm on February 21st. For more information about the rally, mailto:jointherally-sub@glaad.org
Thanks for moving into action on this one – I’ll keep you posted as I know more. If you are already a member of the Stop Family Violence mailing list, remember to click the NO button where it asks if you want to join the mailing list so you don’t receive duplicates. Please be patient with the website’s slowish response after you send the letter - because we’re such a large group, it takes a few moments to process things. Better than being a small, fast group – don’t ya think!
Thanks again for doing everything you can to help spread the word about this issue. Together, we can…. http://www.stopfamilyviolence.org Irene Weiser

Congrats to any PCBM holders out there for
a good run today. Nice to see a little money being made!
Bruceski -
look again. Goldpenny is there. Not a wrestle...just a sucker punch.
LOL.
There's a reply on the tip of my fingers...
I think I shall refrain......LOL.
Bruceski - interpretation of Bluesox's comment -
IFTP will be PHAT and make you gain some (British) pounds but you go crazy watching it, so you start writing on your fingers with ink - something your mother always told you not to do - but it's better than Dusty's solution, which is playing with your lips. LOL.
Hi Greenhorn. Congratulations!
You have joined an exclusive club with many fine members, such as Yours Truly. (LOL...I threw a bigger party when my divorce became final than I did for the wedding ...)
I'm digging in my heels on NICM too. At least you didn't miss anything too exciting! I was wondering where you've been. I do go out looking for missing persons eventualy. Ask Lowroller! LOL.
Plato - I was going to call you and let you know
that the pennies are getting ready to run - but then I saw that you already read the message - LOL. (I'm trying to be better about following instructions ...hahaha.)
Ummm - DUH!
He changed the server.
You don't suppose the old server address saved to Favorites is invalid, do ya?
Ok - thanks for solving the dilema, Bluesox. LOL.
Bando (and any one interested) - re Bobz -
Gregg is upgrading the server to improve response time. He noted a couple of days ago that he was working on this and warned that there would 'likely be some problems' -
Or maybe "Guest" blew it up ...??? LOL.
Much more appropriate, Bando! LOL. (eom)
Bando - "raking in the bucks" option trading?
That is a slightly optimistic assessment of my option trading skills. I have managed to keep my head above water all fall and winter after losing my butt on Priceline. :o(
Sniff...Sniff (Wipe tear...)
Working on taxes for 2000 now. Entering January and February trades into the computer -
INCE - sold at .48
TMMI - .54
CLSI - .42
I know you don't want me to continue...
It's making me cry!
LOL.
No picks in this post - just a couple of comments -
I am becoming encouraged by the activity in the penny market. We have actually seen a few pennies make some nice moves in recent weeks (i.e. IFTP, FASC and others). While I'm still not trading the penny market, preferring to jump off a cliff faster by hitting close-to-expiration options, (usually with a parachute, but I've forgotten to bring it a couple of times - LOL) I am ready to start identifiying some opportunities in the pennies. The recent 50 basis point cut by the Feds, coupled with anticipation of additional cuts, begins to relieve the economic stress the US has been under in recent months. While other issues still need to be resolved, I think we've seen the NASDAQ bottom around 2200. That is NOT to say we won't see that bottom retested a few times before we establish a true upward trend. I see this bottoming becoming more of a sawtooth pattern than a V pattern. But the serious hits taken in most sectors in the last 2 quarters of 2000 have flushed most of the exuberance out of the market and P/E ratios. There aren't too many companies left that can announce unexpected bad earnings forecasts. As the rest of the year-end numbers come out, those last remaining few may adjust to more reasonable prices based on revised earnings expectations and then we're all back on a level playing field again. Year-end tax loss selling is (obviously) over, so we are back to the continual battle of trying to determine whether buying represents traders or investors. The fact that major research firms continue to downgrade companies that they've been recommending purchase on for months tells me that there is a trend to try to bring prices down a little more for the big guys to come in.
2000 was a rough year. I know just about everyone I talk to took a big hit in the market since spring. While 2001 hasn't started out with a bang, I see many signs that things are beginning to turn the corner. While I don't anticipate that we are going to see the dramatic steep rises that we became accustomed to in 1999 and early 2000, I DO think we are in a position to make some good money in 2001 with some carefully chosen opportunities.
I haven't been trading the pennies much at all since April, so I am somewhat out of touch with most of them. Won't hazzard a guess right now as to what looks like it will move. But I am starting to do some looking around. If there is anyone here that has a 'core holdings' portfolio of NASDAQ and Big Board stocks, there are many companies that I'm looking at for some decent moves in the $25 - $60 range. If anyone is interested in chatting about any of them, email me at smudge2@uswest.net
Bottom line of this rambling post, "it's time to start getting serious about making some money in this market because we've finally reached a point where it IS possible."
Bando - maybe you've cracked the code!
Quick - put in orders tomorrow morning to buy all pink sheet stocks and let's see what you fill on! LOL.
I haven't heard anything new - doesn't mean it didn't happen though. We've been waiting for it for a long time! Hope you're 'on to something there' !
LOL - Haven't you noticed? I speak to EVERYBODY! -
Thank you for the kind words of celebration Bando, I knew you'd come up with something appropriate for this auspicious occassion.
I'm still not sure on this - what test was it I passed to get this job, Plato? LOL. Civil Servant? Uncivil Servant? Something like that....
See your Private Mail for response. eom
Joekob - your apology is in good taste -
but maybe it's flalabtec that deserves it more.
No one is saying you can't post here or anywhere else.
Just keep it clean and show some respect. Plato's is not like the other boards. We're actually here because we like and respect each other.
Joekob - I've read the email -
I agree with flalabtec that regardless of your "intent", it was vulgar, threatening and not in the spirit expected of people who participate in THIS forum. Your comments were vulgar, and your implied belittlement of Plato shows your true colors.
Do you make a habbit of threatening women, or is flalabtec your first?
I won't post any more public messages about it - but you were OUT OF LINE. I don't know what started your problem, but I hope it ends here. Whatever your issues are with Surfit, I don't think it justifies your vulgar comments to flalabtec.
Good Luck, Dusty! Will keep my fingers crossed for you. You're going into it with the right attitude!
No Scoop - we didn't move again...
Just have fun watching you talk to yourself. LOL.
LOL - Check your private mail ...
(See "Mail Box" above)
Well, as far as doing well this year....
"I'm still living in the damn box, ain't I? How do you think I'm doing???" LOL!
I'm starting to feel a ***LITTLE BIT*** more encouraged by the market - though I'm not ready to jump back in with both feet. I have two toes in the water right now. (You know that Jaws intro - "Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water...." -well, it's bitten me a couple of times. Being very cautious at the moment.
LOL - Kendie!!!! Where've you been???
No - didn't decorate this year. Tumbleweed all blew away. The box is getting kind of dried out, so I was afraid to hang candles on it. I've added on - attached a few shoeboxes for the cats to sleep in. It's now officially 4 rooms. LOL.
Scoop - did you just moon me? LOL! eom
Scoop - we'll say it nice and slow. It's called
**M** **A** **T** **H**
Scoop - Bruceski is right - but consider also
you can sell them, and as long as you don't buy back for 31 days or more, you can apply the loss to this years tax return. If you are reluctant to do that, thinking the stock will run within the next 31 days and you want to be in, you could buy back before the 31 days is up. The only 'problem' with that is that you have to net your loss on your current position with the outcome of your transaction on the stock that you buy back. For example, if you own stock at .50 and sell today at .20, you have a .30 per share loss. If the stock starts to move in the first week of January and you buy back at .30 and it goes to .70 and you well, you have a .40 per share gain. The original .30 loss nets against your .40 gain for a net .10 gain; no loss taken on the year 2000 trade and a .10 gain taken in 2001. Hope that helps. If you think it will be at least a month before the stock rallies, you're safe.
Plato - Sounds like a job for Smudgely! LOL! eom
Alexed, I do keep in touch with rctrader and subscribe to his newsletter. He has posted here occassionally - Most of the time his picks haven't generated a lot of excitement at the Retreat - guess his style is a little different than a lot of others here. Can tell you that the current pick is CLSI and you can catch his posts on RB on that one.
Nope - but I threw a can of tuna in the pool and
sent the cat in after it...LOL. Kinda quiet here today, huh?
ARRRGHHH!!!! - New moderator at Bobz...
Driving me nuts! Deletes everything anyone posts!
Only wants to see his name on the board.
Anyone want to know who it is????
My Favorite was ...
A man is incomplete until he gets married.
Then he is finished.
LOL!
Ah Hah! That's called "Smudgitis" eom
Dusty - MYIQ up strong today...eom
Thanks for the great update, Bruceski!
I have read some notes over at RB as well. It sounds like those who took the time to attend and then to post are positive about what they heard. Hanging in there!
Bando - LOL ...
I am up to my eyeballs in work at the office, covered 4 desks today and how am I spending my time? Picturing where everybody is and what they're doing in response to Plato's query. Hmmmmmm - I think I've gone over "that edge" .
LOL - Doesn't Bruceski sound like a stalker?
Well, Plato, it's obvious we all have too much free time on our hands since we aren't busy trading. Things look to be improving a little bit in the market overall. Hope that the drop we had on 11/30 was the Grande Finale of the free-fall and we're headed back north.
