Does listening to Guns 'n' Roses at ear-bleeding levels while hammering my V8 Camaro down a straight-away sound sophisticated?
Sam
OK, I understand now, David. I'm not the brightest bulb here sometimes.
I've been recently accused of being 1 person using 3 ids, so I thought that might've been a veiled reference to that accusation, therefor I was a bit sensitive. In the words of God and Popeye, "I am who I am".
Would love to meet the person who COMPLETELY understands the markets, but I assure you they are neither here nor on SI - if they exist at all in this world.
Cheers,
Sam
Former SYSOPs certainly applies.
Seriously though, why would anyone want to talk to the same three people all the time if they weren't family?
I'm not sure I understand your question w/ respect to it being directed at me. I talk to a number of people both here, on SI, and in private and public chat rooms.
Sam
Pardon me.. but I don't think anyone who doesn't develop or run websites and talk Java, COM, Corba, SQL, etc. has the right to 'quote policy' and have any say in what can and can't be done on IHUB. Those of us who spend virtually 11 hours designing, coding and debugging and another 4 hours analyzing and research will not tolerate the 'couch potatoes' who do nothing but attempt to put their foot into everything to quote policy. Policy can only be determined by qualified individuals like Bob who do it for a living. Others are just doppelgangers who have no idea what its like to actually write software and teach but only know how easy it is to PRETEND TO HAVE AN IDEA of what its actually like.
IT IS ONLY IN THE HANDS OF ACTUAL PROGRAMMERS and I for one would totally dismiss anyone with about as much knowledge of the trading world and the message boards as my pet goat who just learned to do his 'business' outside after 6 weeks. I don't think there is even a controversy here. THOSE WHO SPEND HOURS and HOURS PONTIFICATING have no idea and would be totally PARALYZED if actually facing the software arena.... Those who would code, code, those who pontificate have no qualifications for anything and should sit on the couch with a big bag of fritos, watch WWF Smackdown! and start to root for his home team. (Go Deacons!)
If one has shown no ability to code, analyze or know a bit from a byte , can't quote policy and will have absolutely no credibility and whose only accomplishment is the ability to start a thread and pontificate.. That's all the time I have for this discussion. Some of us write programs and have a real day job.
(Note that some bits were borrowed from another post.)
Sam
PS What in the heck is a doppelganger? Sounds like an STD to me!
Someone starts a board about "what do you think of me? good or bad." and their rule is you must state word for word "You are the best thing in the world." What then is the purpose of the board? It most certainly isn't an open forum.
The purpose of that thread would be Poet worship, of course. I can't imagine anyone else with such a thread.
Sam
What rant?

today's stock related stuff may be found in OBOX
but I love poor spelling and creative interpretation but I did not see one.
This country boy is not sure if that's a left handed compliment or not, so he figures it must be time for lunch.

Sam
PS I like your word-play, GB. Wish I were talented enough to spar with you on that level.
Thanks for the compliment, Lisa.

The bottomline is harmonious flow except on the parking lot.
A good musician realizes good harmony requires dissonance and (ultimately) resolution.
Sam
PS Please excuse my poor spelling skills.
Thought your clones would have reeled you back to SI by now.
I'm not the one that keeps taking the bait...

Sam
Keith, I'd like to follow some of your plays as a learning experience, if you don't mind. Would you please consider posting your positions as you play them? (Not necessarily in "real time"; but within a day or three so I can follow along.)
I am very interested in options and close to initiating some covered call trades. I'll do my best to share my picks and plays.
Thanks,
Sam
As a director of the thread you're referring to, I have absolutely no problem with the content of your market related posts. They are *very* helpful and I'm learning from them (unlike other market related posts).
Of course, it's Bob's rule but I think he would agree with just about everything I wrote outside of the parenthesis. :)
Sam
Maybe we can talk straddles
*blush* I can't remember the last time a lady said something like that in public.
Oh! You mean options...
Sam
Patti Smith... At first I thought of the artist from the 80's, but I think that's Patti Smyth (you know "bang bang I am the warrior!"). She opened for Styx a couple years ago. Did you enjoy her show?
I am child of the 80's in case you can't tell. Did I tell you about the Pac Man machine I'm restoring in my garage?
Sam
PS Thanks for the praise.
post 1
No problem. As has been pointed out already, there are other good personal firewalls: ZoneAlarm and Norton Internet Security being 2 that pop into my head.
Doesn't much matter which protection you use; just use protection.
Sam
That said, we both are way off topic, so I suggest you layoff. (I certainly will henceforth - at least in this thread.)
Those were poorly chosen words on my part. What I meant is "I suggest we layoff" because we are off topic. I did say "I suggest you layoff" and "I certainly will (layoff)" which logically meant "we" (at least in my mind) but after reading it again, I still think it was very poorly phrased. I'm sorry about that, because it's easy for me to see how the statement might've been considered a threat or had an air of arrogance. By the time I had reconsidered, it was too late to edit.

Great points there Reid. The TOU says "a personal attack is defined as: Posting false information about a poster that can not be backed up by a link or other means of quick verification."
Here's your link for verification:

where you said I won't agree to disagree because I'm 100% correct.
Many people would argue that such debate tactics are self-serving, self-righteous, and arrogant. Therefore, I stand by my statement that you're also 100% full of yourself.
That said, we both are way off topic, so I suggest you layoff. (I certainly will henceforth - at least in this thread.)

I won't agree to disagree because I'm 100% correct.
You're also 100% full of yourself.
I asked you why you are here on IHUB posting?
I assume that's a typo and you meant to say "I ask you why you are here on IHUB posting?" because there are certainly no questions in your first response to me:
http://www.investorshub.com/beta/read_msg.asp?message_id=99823
I answered the question already. Yesterday I think in this thread. I chose to post here b/c I may find something of value. I also said I don't like the CoB model but I agree to abide by it in exchange for the privelege of posting here. If I change my mind, I will ask my id to be deleted and (of course) stop posting.
Sam

I stand corrected as far as your experience with SI is concerned. Nevertheless, I disagree it's another Yahoo and I disagree CoB puts the posters in control. (If anything, it puts the thread heads in control and in a POTENTIAL abusive position. JMHO, of course.) No point arguing further about it, we'll just have to agree to disagree for the moment and, if either one of us changes his mind in the future, I'm sure we'll be a gentleman about it and say as much.
Cheers,
Sam
post 3
... just don't disagree with me about a trade.<ggg>
If you've got a winning record... that's a-ok w/ me.
Sam
post 3
Like Bob said, what kind of salary are you going to offer me?
Sam
PS And will you allow me to trade from work??
post 2
mgmt saying on conf call that animation salaries have been declining
Disney mentioned the same thing recently; that bidding wars for talent has subsided so animated movie production costs were cheaper.
I am curious, though, as studios seem to come and go with the popularity of their movies whether Pixar would be a good long term investment. Pixar probably has some pretty serious assets w/ respect to their rendering software. I wonder if they will ever choose to capitalize on it and offer it as a product? (Note that I'm speaking on long term investment prospects and not necessarily near term trading prospects. I am long DIS, so I am interested in Disney's partners; like this one.)
Sam
Which leads into a partial answer of your question...
That was a much nicer way to speak to the lady, Bob.
Sam
post 2
SI is now a Yahoo
Respectfully, I strongly disagree. I do not believe SI even begins to approach Yahoo's noise level. Or even RB's for that matter. I think you should consider visiting SI, take the time to read some of the better threads, and form your own opinion rather than taking on the opinion of your buddies here.
Sam

SI is totally dead
Still suspended, huh?
SI is alive and well.
Dr. Carr and crew are talking TA and answering questions about IB:

CatLady is showing a great sense of humor:

And FEMPSter speak is alive and well:

Too many others to list...
Sam
I had think a moment who "M" was, and I figured it out. It's *great* to see you!
Haven't traded 5/8 in a while. Mostly been looking for QQQ systems (see QQQ thread and older BTTT posts) and a good covered call strategy (OBOX).
How are things with you? I'm exciting to see you back on!
Sam
It's in the thread header (and makes sense):
Since I will not (for now, at least, and maybe never) post on-topic commentary in stock threads, I am exempt from the "one on-topic stock-related post" rule. I will, however comply with the first rule, as I could also stand some practice in being more selective about my battles.
Simply put, it could be a conflict of interest for Bob to post anything market related considering his postion at ihub, so he's exempt from the rule.
Sam
post 6
Finally, my stock post for today:
http://www.investorshub.com/beta/read_msg.asp?message_id=99673
Sam
post 5 or 6 or who knows... I've run out of fingers and the 6 o'clock hour is close at hand.
LOL! I agree. But since I'm a director coraling the CoB, I bet Bob still makes me post a stock related message. LOL! (just kidding Bob)
Sam
post 4 (I think)
Oh. You didn't express it as a question and if I remember right, you weren't directing it to me anyway.
Ah... come on, Bob. Here's the post:
"I'd like to know what Bob's qualifications are for this job besides his former position at SI?"
It's definitely a question, but it does appear to be addressed to anyone. If someone were to say "Is Sam Chinese?", rest assured I would take it upon myself to answer if I heard the question.
But let's not start wallowing in spelling or grammar flames.
The particulars of my resume or why I was hired are of no consequence to anyone but the owners of the site.
A fair answer. Not the nicest one necessarily but definitely fair.
Sam
post 4
PS Dang it... now I have to go write something stock related. Going to visit OBOX... BRB.
I don't think they're currently taking applications.
Bob.. she was not asking for a job, she was asking what your qualifications were. Lola would make a wonderful ihub covergirl, but I bet none of us could afford her - but oh, imagine what it would do for the site traffic!
Sam
PS You number your posts like this "post 3"
It's only for this thread... something about keeping track of how many posts you've made in a 6 hour period and not being allowed to make more than 10. It's in the thread header.
You'd think the dang computers could do the counting for us, wouldn't you??
Sam
post 2
I'd like to know what Bob's qualifications are for this job besides his former position at SI?
Shoot... I dunno... Bob? resume?
Sam
PS If you weren't so darn nice lookin', I'd remind you to number your posts. 8-}

Bill, never thought for a moment you were stalking me but couldn't resist the opportunity to joke about it. Then again, you city folk get some strange ideas!
My friend, bob_john, is from up north too, but I don't hold it against him either.
If not a ham biscuit, maybe I could send you a NASCAR t-shirt or bumper sticker??
Sam
Though not, perhaps, pointed in the direction you intended.
Don't you go pointing that sharp stick at me!
Sam
Yes, Val Kilmer was a classic in that movie....
I must get the DVD (if it's available).
Sam
LOL Bill! Are you stalking me, friend?
Tell you what, I'll send you some ham biscuits, you send me a bag of bagels, and we'll make up.
Sam
PS For those who don't know, Bill busted me just the other day for picking on NYC over on SI.
I disagree with your 3rd sentence as written, but you're right, this is off topic. In a nutshell, I think folks can have very big reasons for lying and it's usually some form of protection from embarrassment all the way up to possible incarceration.
BTW I am in Coral Springs Florida now. Love it here.
I went the opposite direction to North Carolina, but the darn Yankees are about to turn me back south.
Sam
GB... who do you consider to be "destrutive cronies"? Those who lie, or those who call someone on their lies?
Respectfully,
Sam
PS I love Georgia... spent part of my formative years in Columbus and a college summer in Atlanta!
