We have some exciting years ahead in AR! Vuzix is a part of it.
Keeping our eyes open to the opportunities that arise, and I believe that being diversified as investors in AR will be very rewarding.
Moving to smart glasses will be as important as the adoption of personal computing in the late 1970’s and 1980’s, and akin to the cell phone and then the smart phone.
Perhaps the greatest opportunities for investors are on the software side of this coming revolution.
AR will be utilized in an accelerated manner as the benefits become more obvious and the competitive edge that is presented with AR is made clear.
The hardware is very usable, but still rather rough in comparison to what is to come. Use in enterprise now is an important development. Once the commitment is made to incorporate AR into the work flow there is no going back to a less efficient process.
Software development for hands free AR is a big deal. Things will only get better.
Very exciting ride!
I’m looking forward to seeing how Toshiba dynaEdge, we will see today, plays out over time for us. I’m excited about the practical application of our fledgling product associated with a company like Toshiba.
The use of AR in enterprise with the increase of efficiencies and cost savings over time completely out ways the “geek factor” presented with a heads up display that we see at this early stage of this technology acceptance.
When a company can do its business with better outcomes, happy customers and cost savings they will adopt AR much more rapidly than the average “public electronics consumer” who will question why they need it and, of course, have to go through the “how do I look?, really?”, stage.
That sounds very familiar.
The silver (Ag) in the alloy provides the antimicrobial component.
In prosthetic products that are used intimately with the skin, often silver is incorporated because of this. Particularly within the prosthetic socket where the environment is warm and moist, silver is often used in prosthetic socks and liners.
In the components that I referred to in a previous post, this property is not really necessary.
I had the opportunity to meet with the CEO of a manufacturer and distributor of prosthetic componentry yesterday.
These are NOT implantable devices.
They are the very strong, small and lightweight, precision parts that we use in the prosthetics industry to assemble and align devices every day.
Manufacturers of these medical parts are in competition to produce the strongest, compact, lightweight devices to optimize the prosthetic outcomes for our patients with limb loss.
The market is larger that some might believe. As practitioners, we are always looking for what is best for our patients, and these components are marketed to us.
When ever I hear about people addressing prosthetic devices on this board they are referring to implantable devices. I’m pointing out that there is a larger market.
The business leader who I was talking with is very excited about the advantages and opportunity that amorphous metals offer for his company’s products and for the patient population.
Liquidmetal is ideally suited for the Prosthetics and Orthotic market and he had not heard of this “new” option.
We are a Liquidmetal baby, after all...
My 15 year old agrees with you. He says that no one that he has talked to likes it, however, “everybody uses it”.
They very much preferred the simplicity of what it was.
Li does refer to fruit, however, “going after low hanging fruit” was originally Steipp’s line, as you recall. You have been here a while.
Do you believe that many customers are confidant yet in anyone, including Eontec, producing reliably, cost efficiently and timely, Liquidmetal products for them?
I would think that confidence in this area is just beginning.
Adding other parts manufacturing processes like MIM, which is Paul Hauck’s baby, is brilliant. Li’s judgment regarding Hauck I trust as well.
I’m sorry that some here are struggling with an investment decision.
I continue to be excited.
Thank you, RFYI.
Yes. Amorphous metals advantages ensure that it will not disappear, but will evolve into broad application.
...just like “plastic”.
Thanks, GL2Y2
Exciting times to be invested in AR and VR.
It has been fun watching people try to grasp what the two areas are all about, and how huge the impact will be on industry and our daily lives.
The software part of this is zooming down the runway as well, and is about to take off.
A new normal is difficult to actualize, however, that is inevitable.
Sorry that you feel that way.
I feel strongly encouraged by developments at LQMT.
If you were personally to take on making Liquidmetal a profitable company, starting now, what would you do differently than what Li is doing?
There is no magic in this world of instant gratification.
I understand that it is easy to complain. I have done my share. Removed from the knowledge of day to day operations of the company it is hard not to worry and to second guess what is happening.
I have great respect for Professor Li. I trust his judgment in making business decisions for LQMT.
Loved the “Morning with Maria” interview today with Paul Travers.
It would have been nice if the live feed was smoother, however, some idea of the capabilities was communicated.
Very exciting times ahead!
Very well articulated, thank you.
It sounds like you are long in the same way I am. I bought positions in LQMT for each of my children’s accounts some time back and have been adding to my personal holdings over time.
Please don’t deny the importance of some profit taking.
When one believes that the price of his investment is unreasonably effected by others, adjustments must be considered.
I am very much long LQMT and very excited about it!
Recent developments at LQMT are very encouraging and seem to be right on course. The road is long and interesting.
People who jump onto this bus and off at the next stop can bewilder me. The potential for the long haul is much more interesting!
Good luck to you.
Right!
What people DO, however, is beyond the numbers and facts.
Grounded reason gives a fairly reliable base to make decisions with.
Thanks for the grounded perspective, to you and many others.
Good to hear the LQMT brief open house recap PR this morning.
Including mention of the investors is encouraging, and I think that those of you who made it to the event made a positive impression.
The information shared on this board is tremendous! Thanks again from those of us that could not attend.
Amazing report, Axiom.
Very encouraging and exciting, to say the least!
Excellent! Thanks, Crispy, for the report.
Upon rereading my last message I must apologize for the grumpy tone.
I believe that you will be surprised by what transpires in this area over the next 10 years, however. VUZI is one of many companies to consider as the efficiencies AR offers become more apparent and are increasingly adopted by enterprise and then by the public at large.
Good luck.
So, you want to carry something around in your hands. That’s fine.
Are you thinking that there is some rule about your input device? If you want a smart phone in your hands there is no reason (for you) to limit yourself.
There will be amazing input devices beyond strictly the glasses, however, including input options in the glasses themselves brings the potential for simplicity.
To type something like this I am using both hands, my head is down and I have stopped productively doing the other tasks that surround me.
In other words, in a hands on productive work environment I am severely handicapped using only my smart phone.
If most of the work I do requires only the glasses, when on the rare occasion I have to type something out (rather than dictate it) I can pull out the old smart phone, if that is what I am comfortable with.
I feel surprisingly alarmed at the lack of incite many people have. It is a bit like the beginning of air travel and the resistance that occurred then.
I am certain that Direct AR will be tremendous, and hand held input devices will “accessorize”.
Right. Well said.
Sorry about your yard, Gorgol. I think about you out there working on that periodically.
That is a beautiful thing. Thank God!
I like the use of the word "will".
I doubt that I will sell any of my position next year.
But, who knows? I could pull a "Hauck". Things need to be evaluated and reevaluated from time to time.
Chin up, Spartan. It's just a long ride through interesting terrain. We are getting somewhere.
I'm settled in.
...My stop is way out there.
Good post L1.
The work and progress at Vuzix is very exciting to me. We have been watching the approach of AR for a very long time, and the capability and usefulness is finally coming to the awareness of the masses.
It is interesting how something that will "turn the world on it's head" such as AR (and in particular smart glasses) is strongly resisted by so many people.
Investing in the companies that are successful with VR has tremendous financial potential for those of us who are not attempting to build our own company as Paul is. I am very proud of him and how he is going about building the company!
Good luck to you in Germany, and give a high five to the folks at Ubimax for me!
Thanks for the response.
Amazing...
So what do you foresee in the future of AR?
If you had insight into an industry that would revolutionize the way people live their lives, had the certainty that it would come to pass, and had the ability to get it started,
...what would you do?
How would you go about it?
Vuzix is doing a very good job getting this ball rolling. This is new territory with a fledgling industry.
They are willing to take the risk to GO FOR IT!
I hope that your honest opinion is not really as short sighted as you are displaying? There were many with the same view of the personal computer, the cell phone,
...heck go back to the beginning with airplanes and what people were saying about that.
I'm sure that you are willing to take the risk of a positive future.
Just my honest opinion.
Right on, Hank!
Good stuff!
Thanks, L1
I'll check it out. I don't do much with social media, and perhaps should a bit more. Thanks, L1.
I think that many are concerned about how Vuzix will compete with the likes of Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, etc...
Others just flat do not see what is happening with AR.
... and some play with short term shenanigans.
Thanks, Locke, for keeping us posted.
Good to be watching, aware and active at the beginning of a technological shift like this!
I am very excited about the software side of things as well.
Your input is very much appreciated!
