They are OK as far as I know. I carry a Kel Tec P3AT the vast majority of the time - a similar pistol. Prices are similar. Size is similar, possibly the Kel Tec is just a wee bit smaller.
You might check both, if available to you. Kel Tec also makes a very small 9mm - the PF9 .. which is very popular too.
You'll find nice pistols in 9mm (and 380) from generally all the name-brand companies. Price is the main difference.
All of them have gone up in price since the Sandy Hook incident.
If I can help you, or answer any questions, let me know. and I'll try - as wil virtually any of the 'old hands' here on the board.
None of them are worth a damn if you don't keep them accessible, though.
I hear ya. I have to drive about 22 milies to shoot now, since so many folks built around me. You are fortunate.
Get out there and get you an AR ... I waited a long time after I got out, but finally gave up and got one, and I love shooting it. They're high right now, and will be awhile until/unless these idiots in the White House either shut up, or get put in their place.
Hopefully they will, and this ban crap won't pass. I never say never any more, since Obama got re-elected. Everyone was saying that would never happen. Sorry, look at DC and see who is in the Oval Office.
Good shooting. One of the pocket 380's sure isn't a target pistol, and it takes some getting used to one to handle it well. I carry one also. With that little bullet, we have to be very accurate! That's why I keep a 'Judge' in my nightstand!
Keep practicing. And buy up some ammo if you can get it! We may be dry there a while too.
Good shooting but ... just one little thing ...
didn't anyone tell you you should go OUTDOORS to practice?
'STAN THE MAN' MUSIAL DIES AT 92
Stan 'The Man': Musial was baseball's perfect ambassador
One night after his longtime friend and teammate Red Schoendienst was honored on his upcoming 90th birthday, fellow Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan Musial died quietly at age 92 at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at his St. Louis County home under Hospice care.
Musial’s family members who did not live here had gathered in the last day when Musial’s health had deteriorated. A family spokesman made the announcement.
Musial, who turned 92 in November, has been in declining health for the last several years, including being afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. Lillian Musial, his wife of more than 70 years, had died last May 4.
Considered the greatest Cardinal of them all, Musial also likely was the most popular Cardinal of them all, continuing to make his home in St. Louis after his retirement in 1963.
Playing his entire 22-season career with the Cardinals, Musial is the franchise leader in virtually every category, including hits at 3,630, splitting them evenly at 1,815 at home and 1,815 on the road.
Selected to play in a record-tying 24 All-Star Games, Musial won seven National League batting titles.
Signed to a professional contract by the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher 1938, Musial was converted into an outfielder, where he made his major league debut in 1941.
At the time of his retirement, Musial held or shared 17 major league records, 29 National League records, and nine All-Star Game records. In addition to overseeing businesses such as Stan Musial and Biggie’s restaurant, Musial served as the Cardinals' general manager in 1967 and then quit after his team won both the National League title and World Series that year.
Musial was selected to the Major League Baseball All-Century team in 1999 and President Barack Obama presented Musial with the presidential medal of freedom, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a civilian, at the White House on Feb 15, 2011.
A bronze statue has stood outside the last two Busch Stadium facilities, now residing on newly-dedicated Musial Plaza. The inscription reads, “Here stands baseball’s perfect warrior. Here stands baseball’s perfect knight.”

R.I.P. Stan.
Thanks for all those exciting "at bats" over the years.
Even Reid may have at least one redeeming quality! LOL
Ironic, isn't it?
Reid's Obamacare Amendment Blocks Using Doctors to Compile Gun Registry
by AWR Hawkins
16 Jan 2013
When Obama signed his 23 Executive Orders this morning, #16 was to clarify that Obamacare "does not prohibit doctors [from] asking patients about guns in their homes." Yet it must be understood that even if they ask these questions, they can't compile their answers into a list which they then pass on to the government. This prohibition comes courtesy of Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).
When Obamacare was being debated in the Senate in 2010, Reid inserted an amendment that forbids the government from using doctors to compile information for a gun registry.
In fact, the amendment makes it clear that Obamacare cannot be construed to authorize doctors to collect "information relating to the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition."
Therefore, even if doctors take today's 16th Executive Order to heart and ask their patients about guns, the answers cannot be used to form some type of gun registry database.

Bravo!
REPUBLICAN INSIDER: Obama Livid Over Gun Rights Backlash
Thank God for Harry Reid?
Like me you were probably watching the president’s gun control speech today. Was told this morning the presentation today was a revised version that was completed just last night after a bunch of back and forth between the White House and Senate leaders. Guessing that would be Harry Reid mostly. Last week the president was ready to go all in on the executive order scenario. Confiscation was going to be in play. Then the backlash came and it forced Obama to back off. He didn’t want to but after Reid said it was a no go, and the NRA was preparing to go to war with the White House, the president was given a revised script and that is what we heard this morning. You could tell too. Obama stumbled over the words more than usual. He didn’t have the time to prep the script like he normally does. Probably fuming he was forced to read the new version also. ..
Congrats to the state governments that were willing to voice opposition too. They did that and took on a lot of risk. Heard a list is being made and federal dollars might be taken away from them. Those state leaders knew that could happen but took on the administration anyways. That’s real leadership and courage being put on display for all of us and voters living in those states need to let those leaders know it is appreciated. You know how I feel about how important the 10th Amendment is, and today was also a big victory for the 10th Amendment against the Obama White House.

So far, Obamacare says within the authorizing bill itself that doctors will NOT ask patients about guns in the homes. What was said to day can't change that, but was just smoke and mirrors. Today did nothing to change that law.
It could be changed later, but it wasn't today.
Today, actually, changed nothing material to the second amendment, or actually not even any gun laws. It was all smoke and mirrors. Congress would have to enact any real changes, and they haven't done it yet.
So just mumble back at the Doctor if you think he mumbles anything about guns ..
Honestly, I understand Harry Reid put the caluse in the original bill that Doctors could not inquire of patients about guns in the home. It is also my understanding Harry Reid had a heart-to-heart with Biden and Obama yesterday, and changed Obama's mind on a lot of things Obama intended to try to do today by Executive Order.... sort of informed him of the political and actual reality of what he was going to try to do.
Never thought I'd say it ... but Harry Reid may have some redeeming qualities after all. He does have a good rating with the NRA.
Glad to hear that .. hopefully you're all done with that mess after a couple more days. We were at 15 this morning ... supposed to warm a bit then drop off again to some more very cold days ... I am growing to hate winter.
Don't sugar coat it .. How do you really feel?
Amen ... and have for years ....
Now you know that just makes WAY TOO MUCH sense for anyone in congress to understand!
Clinton to testify on Benghazi Jan. 23
By Olivier Knox, Yahoo! News
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will testify Jan. 23 before the House Foreign Affairs Committee about the Sept. 11 attack on the American compound in Benghazi, Libya, the panel’s chairman said late Monday. The terrorist assault claimed the lives of the U.S. ambassador, Chris Stevens, and three other Americans.
“I appreciate Secretary Clinton’s desire and willingness to testify before the Committee as we continue to examine this deadly terrorist attack in an effort to ensure that nothing like it happens again,” Republican Rep. Ed Royce of California said in a statement.
“My intention is for this hearing to focus on why this attack was not better anticipated, what leadership failures at the State Department existed, and what management deficiencies need to be corrected in order to better secure our diplomatic facilities abroad and protect our diplomats serving in them,” Royce said. “It is important to learn all we can about what happened in Benghazi because at the end of the day, it could happen again. After all, al-Qaeda plans attacks over and over again.”
Clinton had been slated to testify in December, but she suffered a concussion after a fall linked to an illness and had to reschedule. She is due to step down as the top American diplomat, and President Barack Obama has nominated Democratic Sen. John Kerry to succeed her. He is expected to win easy confirmation by the Senate.
Republicans have criticized the Obama administration’s handling of the attack for months, notably in the aftermath of a report that showed the State Department set aside requests for greater security at the compound in Benghazi. Some have also accused the administration of deliberately misleading the American public by linking the assault to protests against an Internet video that mocks Islam; there was no such demonstration outside the facility before the attack.
The controversy led Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, to withdraw her name from consideration to succeed Clinton. And Republican Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte have vowed to question Obama’s nominees for key national security posts about whether the administration could have prevented the tragedy in Benghazi.

Wow, a congressman who actually gets it ...
What a refreshing event!
I hope it is true they aren't selling out. I've bought ammo from them for a long time, and would like to continue. In today's world ... who really has any idea what is going on?
True .. whatever it might be, there is nothing below Obama for sure.
Anything is possible ... Obama was handing out waivers to Obamacare like he was passing out autographs .. I don't know if they got one or not.
She probably did when she was first lady of Arkansas.
I was glad to see the ammo reports are evidently untrue ..
Walmart responds to 'suspended ammo' story
Report states retail giant cutting orders, anticipating gun control The blogosphere has exploded with outrage in response to news that Walmart is suspending ammunition sales in anticipation of the Obama administration’s gun-control recommendations to Congress – but the retail giant tells WND the reports aren’t true.
“That information is inaccurate,” said Ashley Hardie, a spokeswoman located at Walmart’s corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.
WND then asked whether the retail chain is cutting back on orders of ammunition.
“No,” Hardie said. “We’re continuing to serve our customers as we have in the past.”
She said Walmart’s ammunition sales policy has not changed, even amid talk of gun-control legislation in Washington, D.C.
The uproar began when the InvestmentWatch blog posted a story headlined, “Breaking & confirmed: Walmart is not going to order any more ammo.”
CNS News cited the report, and talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh mentioned it during his Monday show.
According to the InvestmentWatch report, a man claimed to have visited his local Walmart and noticed the store was “out of almost every kind of ammo.”
“The manager I talked to said they had not heard anything, but she tried to order some .223 as I was standing there. She said the order was being rejected by the corporate office. Said she had never had that happen.”
He added, “She called corporate as I was standing there. And was told this, ‘As of right now Walmart is not going to be making any new orders of ammo because of the upcoming decision on the Second Amendment.’ Said, ‘As of right now we are unsure of what new legislation might be coming, and because of this, we are suspending new orders. We will continue to sell what is already in stock in stores and at our distribution centers, but any new orders will not be shipped until the issue is resolved.’
“So after they run out, there will be no restocking until Obama makes his decision. How’s that change working out for you now?”
The InvestmentWatch posting also included an audio recording which was purportedly taken as a man called Walmart’s customer service line.
“I went to my local Walmart to go get some ammunition, and they said they were out,” the caller said. “I was looking for .223. Are you all still going to be selling ammunition? The lady seemed confused about whether they were going to get any more in stock.”
The person claiming to be a Walmart representative can be heard saying, “You know, there is going to be a new policy change, according to the federal gun control act, the new law that the president’s getting ready to enact.”
The caller then asked, “Well, you don’t have any idea what that says, do you? Is that saying you’re no longer going to carry ammunition?”
The man responded, “To be honest with you, I don’t know what the policy is going to be, but I know they, but I was told they’re going to be reviewing it.”
WND has not been able to verify whether the man on the call was, in fact, a customer service representative for Walmart.
Earlier today, the CNS News report on the story had been linked by WND. Under the posting, more than 400 concerned readers had commented under the post.
The following are some of those comments:
If I cannot buy ammo at Walmart, my wife can do no shopping there at all. That is not arbitrary, that is the rule of my home.
Sounds like what happens in a dictatorship doesn’t it?
It saddens me to see this happen. It is clearly a first step toward a socialistic takeover of our once great nation. Buy ammo where you can and seriously consider learning to reload your own. You don’t have to stop selling weapons if there is no ammunition to fire.
Walmart is mainstream, and the sales of ammo there are as American as apple pie.
I believe Walmart was threatened.
If Walmart knuckles under to the administration on this, I won’t set foot in the place again. I hope Sam Walton figures the Chinese will support his enterprise.
TRAITORS! Ban Wally’s World.
Boycott Walmart, dump their stock.
The cowards capitulate in the face of tyranny. Remember this and spend your money accordingly.

Not with bad ju-ju like that, it isn't fun!
I wouldn't think your pipes would burst at those temps, least I hope not. Which side of the house are they located on? Hopefully the south side. Bet that makes for some pretty warm 'cold' water in the summer ,eh?
If only you had known ahead of time, and left the water running just slightly .. that should have prevented any freeze-up. Oh well, hind sight is always 20/20 ...
I wouldn't invest much in heating either, since it is only rarely required, and then probably only for a few hours at a time.
Sure wish you the best. I know frozen pipes are no fun. I've had a couple of battles with that problem, and it's a loser, no matter what.
Can't believe you actually got on Harry's "blocked" list, but then I geuss we all have our own claim to fame! LOL
Wow ... we were at about 18 this morning, but my water is 'all inside, all insulated' so no problems. What sort of heating system do you have? Probably just a minimal 'back up', isn't it? How long since your water last froze?
Wally World limited to 5 boxes per customer the last shortage...... but haven't mentioned it this time. Talked to the Sptg Goods Mgr this morning, and he told me he had ordered 45 boxes of 22 ammo (550 round 'bricks) in early December and it still has not arrived. He was off yesterday and when I told him about getting the .223 he was very surprised it had come in.
I hear ya. What I got yesterday went straight in the 'stash'
I actually lucked into some .223 today at Wally World. Told me it had just gone up on the shelf about 5 minutes before I got there. I told them it was coming off the shelf in about 30 seconds! Price was same as it has been for months ... about 38 bucks with tax, for box of 100 FMJ 55 gr.
That was good, because we went out shooting Friday and I shot about 200 rounds!
The guy told me he had sold all his 9mm before it actually went on the shelf .. some guy was standing there when he brought it out of the receiving area, and bought it all.
Still completely out of .22, .40, .38 and .45 ... He's expecting some .22 in tomorrow. Told him I'll be there!
It does pay to get acquainted with the sporting goods guys at Wally World.
Yep .. it's definitely a 'central commitee' type thing ..
Oh I knew you were .. but I can not pass a chance to 'praise' Hillary!
That is true in some countries, but there are lots of possibilities. I don't think the Russians are as big now as they were maybe 20 - 25 years ago, but the Chinese are still increasing their contact and business deals.
IMO, there's a huge untapped reservoir of labor there, people who want to work and who would appreciate a job. In my time there I found by and large, the Africans were very easy to get along with, and not at all afraid of hard work, as long as they had guidance and leadership. They were thrilled to accomplish something useful, and anxious to find useful things to do. I would hope we could get some business going with them .. Like most underdeveloped places though, there will be the 'under the table' payments to the political 'bosses'. That's their main source of income.
Hope you're better my friend ... and I understand what you mean. There are those now who are saying it is over ... it is too late to save us. Others saying it depends on the elections in 2014.
I am more inclined to agree right now, sadly, with the former. I don't know that 2014 elections could help much, unless we took the Senate and I highly doubt that.
Obama hit at just the righ tmoment for him to accomplish his mission ... and the liberal puke traitors .. the "takers" ... will soon find out that they aren't nearly s special as they think they are.
Nah, I read two different articles that said they were in the Dominican Republic to attend New Year's parties, and a fashion show ... which struck me as kinda strange, since she was too ill to testify, but .. not too strange for Hillary ... Next thing I know she's in New York in the hospital with a clot, and her 'spokesperson' is issuing a statement that said she was not in the Dominican Republic as reported and had had no plans to go there. Well of course she wasn't there right then, because she was in New York .. but the statement did not say she HAD NOT been there the day before.
I'm wondering if they didn't get cold feet when the word of their travel got out, and return to New York and concoct this blood clot story .. ??
But then there's the story of her being in the plane crash in Iran too while returning from a secret mission ... with the Iranian president.
All I know, Hillary is such a sneaky, devious, lying POS that I can only believe she is trying to avvoid testifying ... and at this point, I don't really think she ever will, under oath.
Yes, what in the world was I ever thinking?
I'm still wonder why she and Bill were reported to be in the Dom Rep for the New Year the day before she had this 'clot'?
Bill it anyway ... nothing says it has to be in person.
Yeah and you diagnosed it through the internet .. no office call required!
You are amazing ...the first telepathic physician!
Oh, I'm not questioning the condition ... I'm just questioning whether or not she actually had it! LOL
Yeppers .... it sure is ..................
We'll never learn the real truth .. and I seriously doubt there'll be any responsibility for any of the fiasco hung on the administration.
I am doubting now that Hillary will ever testify .. at least not under oath.
Heck it was just 4 American lives. And after all, none of them had starring roles in "1600 Penn"
Yeah, but we all know .. liberals can pick up a turd by the clean end!
I think her husband is using her to make inroads for his own political aspirations ...
