I just called a broker at CIBC Investors Edge, The SRSR CTO is Canada Wide for them now, he can't tell me the exact date it took effect, my last trade (a buy) for SRSR was 28/SEP/12.
I CAN however, and this is great news, still sell SRSR, just not buy it.
I live in Ontario, he asked if I was living in BC, which I would assume naturally stop you from buying or selling.
So yeah, at least I can still sell if push comes to shove.
Having a bit of an issue distilling the actual things that need to be done to quash the CTO, could you be persuaded to produce a plain english list version of whats required based on the information you've posted, I would assume lifted off the BCSC website or archives??
One additional note, 25,000$ USD is required to open an international Schwab Acct.
Transfering in an account with a marked to market value at or above that is also an option, but it might put some shareholders out of reach unless they have the cash to back it up to the minimum threshold of 25k.
I know for example a friend only has about 30,000 shares, my father, another 110,000 give or take, still another friend has about 80,000 at last check....
It seems like theres no issue with schwab being available to Canadians, its whether they can trade SRSR is my main concern.
I've engaged them nevertheless on both these questions (and a few more) with a detailed explanation of the issue (CTO, BCSC, etc) and what they can do to solve the problem, or should I say, the problem of not being able to buy or sell SRSR for myself in Canada.
I have little experience with Canadian tax code much less US withholding tax, etc, and no idea at all how it works, but do want to iron out those items before I wire over anything to anyone in another country.
When they respond I'll post it here, I don't have the PM feature.
I'll give them a call too, cause I'm feeling the CTO heat for the first time here....
Although I don't forsee selling in the near future, it definitely makes me more comfortable knowing I have the option to sell at any time....or buy more for that matter....
I've been scampering around trying to find brokerages that trade SRSR, CIBC is the only one so far. My buddys with Scotia....another was with TD....lots more were with Questrade...
Scotia cant trade it (he lives in Edson Alberta but moved there only a short while ago from Ontario) now.
CIBC Investors Edge is the only brokerage that can touch it it seems, I emailed Virtual Brokers but never got a response back.....
Its 50$ a trade (ouch) for OTC stocks, their exact explanation is to "discourage the trading of less than reputable stocks by our clients".
They have a point, but that still sucks because I don't believe SRSR is in that basket....
Now that I'm reading about this IIROC Canada wide CTO buisness, I too am rather alarmed as all I have now is a number in my account. Could be 5$ a share doesnt make a difference if I can't sell it.... yikes....
Going to call monday morning and ask whats going on at CIBC.... Cause this could be the last nail in the coffin for trading this thing in Canada....

Hoping theres some more action here as this project gets closer to completion, after some DD on this baby I'm in!
SEDAR says otherwise, read the directors circular, all resolutions passed, because I was THERE at the AGM in Toronto.
its actually 950, if you did any kind of DD at all.
This years AGM should be announce soon too, maybe in a big ol' multifaceted PR:)
The authorized is 950.
Good idea, time to finally get in touch
Anyone have issues buying this stock in Alberta or Ontario, Canada today?
My buddy trades with Scotiabank, and they wouldnt trade it, nothing to do with a CTO, they said there was a trade restriction on it?
IIROC sometimes halts at the request of the company during material releases / prepping for one with portenially massive postive or negative conontations.
I rounded out my position through CIBC with a tiny order on tuesday, it settled today, no issues? Not sure whats the dealio.... my buddys in Alberta, and he traded SRSR through Questrade until they stopped trading it citing the CTO about 9 months ago.
His account was in limbo until he transfered it to Scotia, against my advice (I only know of CIBC being able to trade it, as we both live / lived in Ontario), and just tried to place a small order today.
ANy thoughts?
NI 43-101 for Shining Tree 27-Sep-2012

You are the antithesis of Butterfingers....
An investor (there was 2 others besides me) at the shareholders meeting last october inquired passively about Deadmoose, it was dismissed rather casually as not their main focus at the time.
Not their words, their words were along the lines of "there have been no further developments there as of late" or something along those lines.
That was back in the HKHE days though, and we have come very far since then.
This is more good news!
thats the issue with north ontario..... anything past sudbury is good luck....
Lets hope Scott doesn't cite this historical article in his NI 43-101....
Unless I missed something, there were no plans to uplist SRSR at the last shareholders meeting. They mentioned ST being listed on the CNSX as a possibility, and in Hong Kong as a more than likely.
CNSX is a nice, cost effective lower lvl exchange, but I would not call it a mini-TSX Venture by any means. Its daily volume average for all stocks listed combined is not that intense. A Pink and CNSX dual listing would be outstanding in any case though.
More info here: http://www.cnsx.ca/
That Oct 2011 meeting / era was the HKHE era though, they could have other plans for Niostar now, I can easily see Hong Kong..... I would love to see the TSX Venture Exchange as well, but I'm not sure how much pixie dust we have saved up for that flight....
lol, nice
Yes we can, and apart from a broken link inside that post (at least on my computer), it is very informative.
CIBC can and does trade in Ontario. I just rounded out my position last week with them as a matter of fact. I know Questrade and RBC do NOT trade it due to the BC CTO.
if your portfolios over 25 grand, you can transfer fee-free, courtesy of CIBC. Transfer "In kind" not "In Cash" so you aren't liquidated though.
At worst your looking at a couple hundred bucks xfer fee.
We're all friends here, for the most part:)
Before the flippers and hustlers poked out their heads we sat here, alone, a solid core of mostly longs debating whatever bones were thrown at us, or whatever was dug up, for months....years before my time as well (myself circa may 2011) from what I gather....
No implication to whose who in the zoo, seems self evident for the most part lol....
Eye-lines here seldom meet dead on without rebuffing, but it takes a village so to speak....and contraindicated points are always welcome and are the reason we have so many good, if not long winded, debates:)
If you knew my average you wouldn't be jealous LOL
I snagged 10,000 about 30 minutes ago, tuition coming up soon....priorities!
Powder wasn't dry during the 0.017's.... kicking myself now.... looking to scoop up a few hundred thousand more before blastoff:)
Yeah I'm really perplexed as to why the Chinese PR's are stating resource numbers and such.... Scott has a NI 43-101 in the works that was started with HKHE's 300 grand no?
I noticed that too, could have something to do with Sarissa Resources once being Michigan Gold Mining Investments, Inc.
Could still have offices / whatever in Michigan.
Wouldnt exactly call me an old timer around here but they can have my shares when they pry them from my cold, dead hands
I would agree with this statement as SRSR is not some kind of pump and dump promo company ticker that thousands of "subscribers" to stock picks are ready to pounce on.
The PR's terrific news!
Takes time for this news to disseminate and take effect, get some word of mouth going. Some recognition. I expect great things in the next 2 months, and even greater things in the year following that!
Sounds like my father....
I'm sure I wasnt the only person to see the same Chinese fellows in all pics released / found / DD'd / taken down by Scott.
:)
tee hee, bad timing eh
Yup, Civic Holiday August 6th, I should be at the beach:)
Did anyone translate this from the DD you guys have been cooking up whilst I have been taking summer courses?
http://www.lykyjt.cn/news-1066.html
I've got an exam tonight so no time to check back. Goes something like this with BabbleFish....
Not the best translation but you can get the jist of it....
