Mobile phones in US infected by virus

Mobile phones in US infected by virus
A new mobile-phone virus was found in one of the US cellphone stores last week as a warning sign that virus-writers got accustomed to cell phones and will soon be able to destroy programs in mobile phones.
The virus, called Cabir, was found in a technology gadgets store in Santa Monica, California on Monday, when a passing techie spotted a telltale sign on the screen of a phone in the store. There were two infected cellphones in the store – both Nokia.
Cabir was invented in Philippines and began to travel around the world some time ago, having settled in at least twelve countries before it got to the US. Earlier, it already damaged so-called "smart phones" in up to a dozen countries, using Bluetooth wireless technology to spread from phone to phone.
The virus was found in at least 15 variations and continues to improve. So far it drains mobile phones batteries, said Mikko Hypponen, director of Finnish anti-virus research company F-Secure. “It’s not the end of the world,” that it was found in the US, he added.
The virus is spread in different countries through travelers that take their phones with them.
Cellphone virus threat became substantial since the technology is developing rapidly. “Skulls” virus aimed at advanced mobile phones was sent to security firms in November as so called “proof of concept.”

Hey guys,
I get the Kipllinger Washington Letter. These guys are always on the frickin money. They recomended 4 cheap stocks last week.
BRCD, DEPO 800 flowers and one other. I bought 10k of depo and brcd. What do you think boys?
Joe
I have not done this in a ling time,
I bought BRCD because after crashing down from over 100 it is finally making money (26 million last qtr) and I think it can got from 6 to 15 (paid 6.10) and DEPO. Looks like it 's good for a few bucks.
I can't wait for Wave to post some real revenue to get it over the two dollar mark. It will be interesting to watch BRCD that just became profitable, to see what it does so we can hopefully see the same reaction from wave....CL
Thank you for your detailed response. I am getting anxious to see this play out and am hanging my hat on one thing:
TPM's are going to need support for lost passwords and interoperability between different oem's.
No one, not even MSFT wants this job. They are going to stick it to wave to be the "locksmith" of the TPM industry providing support and "lost keys" and verification (attestation).
That is why Wave won't be bought by Intel or MSFT. Maybe Macafee or some other security company that wants access to that customer that feels the need for security.
If I am reading this wrong, please correct me. I sure hope they allow enough money in that part of the equation for Wave to prosper and be able to provide quality service to the industry or we are dead in the water....JMO please correct me if I am wrong. And I do believe anyone can reverse engineer wave, I just don't think they want the role the industry wants wave to take on.....CL
Texas Tree
I am long out the kazoooo, but what patents does wave have in regards to TPM's? Doesn't membership in TCG entitle all the members access to each others patents when developing this new "open architecture solution". I am pro wave, it just that as the board bulls connect dots, I'm interested in the dots created by a silver bullet....CL
So after spending an afternoon with a developers kt and there best engineers, how long do you think that will take?
Dual processors from Intel..
http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/breaking/breakingnewsarticle.asp?feed=OBR&Date=20050207&ID=...
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Intel Corp. (INTC) on Monday said it had completed initial production runs of a chip with two processors-in-one, setting the stage for mainstream marketing of personal computers with two processor ``brains.''
Intel's announcement, while expected, came as a rival consortium made up of Sony Corp., International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) and Toshiba Corp. announced details of their ``Cell'' processor based on similar so-called ``multi-core'' technology.
Intel, the world's largest microchip maker, said in a statement it would add two so-called dual-core products to its Pentium family of chips during the second quarter, including the Pentium processor Extreme Edition.
Dual- and multi-core products include two or more processors on a single chip of silicon. That speeds up computing, although software must be rewritten to take full advantage of the extra power.
Sony is expected to use Cell starting next year to build its much-anticipated Playstation 3 video system.
Intel's Pentium Extreme Edition also will include hyper-threading technology -- a separate technology Intel began offering three years ago.
With hyper-threading and dual cores, Intel chips can process four software calculations simultaneously by efficiently using resources that otherwise would sit idle.
The ability to process up to four software ``threads'' simultaneously gives computers the impression that it has four separate processors with which to process data. Multi-threading increases performance and responsiveness on demanding tasks.
Intel is in a race with rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) to see who can be first to market with dual-core or multi-core technology.
Intel said it has more than 10 multi-core related projects under way.

Why after a deal with Dell, a deal with Intel is Waves financing still coming from the Kamine Islands?
I don't believe got my point. My point is that IMO the big money is not going to be invested in Wave until they get a credible CEO that the street trusts. No big deal, not an insult to SKS. I never said he should be fired, but rather he should hire some one with credibility to enhance the company we are all invested in. I would prefer our financing coming from some where other than the Kamin Islands. Not sure why after a deal with Dell & Intel we are not attracting any big name firms to finance Wave, but maybe we can use a big named CEO to help. It would help, you can not deny that.....CL
That would be awesome...If Dell was to promote the use of TPM's, then I agree with you that there will be no need for any campaign. However I did go to purchase a desk top with a TPM, and I admit it is very early on, but the Dell guys had no clue or idea what a TPM was. I think the right way to do it is on the brink of ubiquity, when a TPM is in a majority of new systems, it needs to be promoted by some one. Be great if some one else picked up the tab...CL
Awk,
Then there will be a lot of wavoids waiting a long time to retire....JMO of course.CL
FT,
A strong national add campaign cost about 20 million a year.IMO Wave will need some type of campaign when TPM's become ubiqiuos (?spelling).
If wave makes 20 bucks for every TPM activated, then it will be well worth taking it straight to the consumer.
The campaign could have a theme like: "Turn on your TPM and secure your Identity". or something catchy.
At some point when Every new PC has a TPM and Wave has an opportunity to make 20 bucks on each of them, there will need to be some type of campaign to generate revenue....CL
Hi Awk,
When Wave becomes real, Wall Street will want a new CEO that they know and feel comfortable with. It doesn't mean SKS leaves, he will be promoted, probably end up as the Chairman. It's my opinion, it's not an insult to SKS. It's reality. If a second tier guy from Macafee or E-Bay was to take over Wave, it would bring much needed positive attention and credibility to the stock. SKS has never run a company with revenue. Wave will need a CEO with experience. Awk, a new CEO would be a good thing for Wave....That's the only way I see Wave getting back to 50.......CL
unixguy
Of course they can make it. Wave has revenue. IMO, this is the way it's going to play out:
About a quarter or two before Wave gets to positive cash flow, a big gorilla, some one of significance, will do a final round of financing similar to XM Radio. It will be big. My guess, 40 million. That final round will give Wave enough working capital to get to break even and promote Wave to get people to turn on the TPM.
After that Wave, there will be no more dilution. There will be significant coverage and awareness of Wave and it's products. The stock will start trading like a real stock and we may even get a new CEO that knows how to handle revenue and growth. Some one Wall Street trusts and feel ok about investing in.
That's my very optimistic opinion if it all plays out the way the Bulls on this board think it will. On the other hand, the worst case scenario is it could be another worthless penny stock that chugs along with too much dilution to ever see a return on investment with the revenue it generates. Like EDIG.
I prefer to think of my first scenario or something close to it...CL
Samk
I couldn't agree more. The entire industry is behind Wave or at the very least TPM's. Security needs will prompt replacement of Hardware (PC's). Everyone is behind anything that will accomplish that. With the Government spending money like drunken sailors on anything with the word "security" attached to it, Wave & TPM's will give everyone an excuse for mass workstation upgrades IMO...CL
Hi Zen,
It was November 24, 03.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/it?s=WAVX
You were right. Aug 1 or so was Intel. He bought a week before the SEC announcement.
Something needs to give. As I said before, insider buying would draw positive attention to the stock. Being the last round of financing had no strings attached, this should be the time to buy. Enough of this subject for me.
IMO, revenue will be the Catalyst for the next rally...CL
Thanks Doma,
I can't wait to buy a Dell with Wave..June will be here before we know it...CL
1260
If it was OK that Monaghan bought ahead of Intel, it's ok for these guys to buy. I am hoping this friendly debate gets some one at Wave to buy a hundred thousand shares. The last insider buy triggered a huge rally. If they were to buy now it would draw some much needed positive attention to the stock. People that only buy stock that insiders buy would look at Wave and see the deal with Dell. It would do more than any road show IMO. I would like to see it, the stock needs it...CK
Hi Doma,
This is item 7 from Waves FAQ about the TPM:
7. Will the TPM send my private information to third parties without my knowledge?
No. The TPM is meant to store passwords, keys, certificates and biometric information, keeping them private for each individual user who is enabled to use the TPM on that system. Any time the TPM is accessed by a software request, you should be prompted for your user access password that you created during the TPM setup wizard so this way you will know when an application is interacting with the TPM. There is no inherent functionality in the TPM to periodically send information to a third party such as a government agency or your company’s IT department.
What about Attestation? I thought the identity would be verified by Wave? Is attestation an option for an IT department? It does say "without my knowledge".....CL
1260,
No way is there anything illegal about any insider buying shares. If anyone at wave has ever suggested that to you, that in itself should be investigated. They have sold with Vigor, they can buy with conviction if they choose to. AS long as they disclose the purchase, it's legal. This company has had insignificant revenue. The SEC would laugh at you if you suggested Wave employees couldn't buy shares because of any SEC regulation. Look at the last rally that started when one board member bought ahead of the Intel news. It was the insider selling that trigered the investigation, not the buying...CL
Hi WM,
That's the "one guy" I was talking about. It would be nice and draw some positive attention to the stock if the people that have been supported by us share holders all these years would drop some cash into the company. No big deal..CL
Why buy shares when you own the press??
The employees are given shares. They don't need to buy them. There is absolutely no reason they can't buy them. None. No SEC rule, No insider BS. The simple fact is with the exception of one guy, no wave officer has ever bought a share of stock with the exception of exercising an option. Maybe they should as vote of confidence in the business model...CL
If that is so and West Point Wins, then we'll see a Sunammi...CL
Went to order a Dell Desktop Today with a TPM. I was told in June the OPTIFLEX 280 desktop will be sold with a TPM. For now it's just the laptops.......CL
CPA
If you are on board, why bust chops???
I did, but at that point I was very sceptical. No More.
I'm all in now....CL
CPA
I disagree,
As a consumer, I will turn anything on that secures my files and my pc. If this is sold & promoted correctly, it will be big. Dell knows how to sell.....CL
CPA,
The Dell deal is done. I plan on ordering one Today!
After searching for revenue streams for years Wave has finaly found it's niche and is OEM deployed!
TPM's are here for ever. TPM's create demand for Government & Business to replace EVERY PC. There is enough incentive for every OEM to back Wave as the Universal Locksmith for TPM deployment. The need exist for one independent company to verify and handle the TPM's so as to insure the inter operability between all the different OEM's or it won't work.
What better company than Wave? Sitting at a buck, all those that are near and dear to TCG can buy shares for thier brothers and sisters in laws......CL
Hi Spin,
Long time no hear...
I got long on the Dell 8k and the fact that the last round of financing had no warrants, no BS. It was a straight buy at 1.05. If it's short, then he is happy covering at 1.05. If that is the case, we should see a dramatic drop in the short position after the shares are registered.
I don't know what we were expecting. I gave up a long time ago looking for anyone of any importance publicly buying into Wave.
Good luck Spin, you made a good trade before, why not try your luck again?....CL
Looking at level 2 there is only 2 offers below 1.20. I have never seen that before. Looks like the sellers have backed off...CL

1.40, sorry. It will be 2.40 soon! I will go back and edit.
Hi weets,
This week we traded as high as 1.40 pre market. I can never understand why people trade in such an il-liquid market. Hopefully it's a sign that something took place Friday to make someone get long or cover...CL
I heard the FBI say trying to change systems is like trying to change a set of tires on a car doing 70 mph...Changing to a trusted TPM PC one at a time would be a lot easier than what they were trying to do. And everyone makes money. MSFT, INTEL DELL and all the subs like Wave. I believe TPM's will be the Government choice for security because everyone makes money and it can be done...CL
Vader,
Unfortunately we followed the market down the last half hour. If you look at a chart of the over all market, it looks just like wave at the end..At least we were up at the end of the day!...CL
Sure wish I bought some Wide point at .15.
Looks like they were a year 2000 .com IPO that cratered down to a penny stock. They did have a nice rebound....CL

I think everyone is missing the point that it is in the entire PC industries advantage to sell the US Government on the use of TPM's. It would require the replacement of every secure PC the Government owns, plus the venders that communicate with them. What better incentive can the industry have to support Wave? The Government always supports and pays for the development of cutting edge technology.....CL
Awsome,
How many of you truly believe that the entire box industry is behind us now? If the industry can give the US Government an Excuse ie"Wave & TPM's" to replace every PC the goverment uses or is connected to ie: venders, Everyone makes money.
That is why I finally believe the industry is behind us. This is big. Even MSFT would back the Government going to TPM PC's.....CL
I liked all the buying towards the end of the day. Makes one think there is something happening....CL
DD
You sell it/short it,
we will buy it,
Lets see where the share price is at the end of the year.
How can take a snap shot from the share price from one day and claim it as basis to bail?...good luck?....cl
Good Morning All,
Doesn't that new Short Sale Rule go into effect Today.Won't we have access to the Naked Shorts? Anyone have a link? That should take the selling pressure off a bit...CL
