Stock is down over 10% in 3 days while the market is going nowhere. All this in the final week of Apple's fiscal quarter.
Here's hoping the buying op is "now", and not "then".
Wind and Mini 9 come out on top as Hackintoshes...

Expectations have gone sky-high overnight. I don't think this is going to end well...
Heck, it looks like Vancouver here today!
Yeah, we had to take your snow before we could take your Sundin.
;)
Verizon's response...
“The Storm has the lowest return rate of any of our PDAs and at this point in its life cycle, it has the lowest return rate of any PDA we currently sell.”
Q: Has anybody here used the cocos2d framework for iPhone? Opinions?
On it goes, this game of ours...
Paris (AP) - Apple Inc. must allow operators other than France Telecom's Orange SA to sell its popular iPhone mobile handset, the French competition regulator ruled Wednesday.
I now have a lot of hours on the 8-core cheesegrater. In all honesty, unless you run a lot apps at the same time, or do serious video work (not talking about camcorder snapvids!), or need a lot (but not A LOT) of internal drives, there's just no point to it. You aren't going write the holiday update email to mom any faster with it than you will with an iMac.
But if you do do those things, it kicks ass. :)
You're a class act, Ms. Au. :)
Ok, ok, last one, I promise!
Sock and Awe.
For long term shareholders it means it's really, really time to start wondering what a Jobsless Apple looks like.
For me it means finding a good spot to cover my AAPL puts.
It's the completely closed "computer" Jobs has always wanted. :)
Yes to the double-linear-dimensions, no to the drop in pixel pitch. It'll look comparatively poor, especially for mobile e-book applications. iPhone looks *much* sharper than a typical desktop display in side-by-side.
All IMO etc.
Is there a market for such a device?
Assuming there's an iStore capability and cheaply priced books - you better believe it. One for each kid, at a minimum.
Well, Japanese 30-year is under 2.5%, so maybe we've got a ways to go yet!
bubble bubble toil and trouble...
30-year just traded for under 3% yield.
I believe in the two shoe-ter theory: YouTube already has a video showing the second shoe came from the grassy knoll.
Todays lesson: never bite off more than you can shoe.
Ok, I'll stop now.
Anybody got a spare shoe?
Love this bit...
"...simulation of fulfillment"
IMO - and I have been called a bit of cynic in the past - this is all just another orchestrated dance so everybody involved can plausibly claim "support" or "opposition" based on the prevailing political winds.
At the end of the day, I do not believe anybody in Congress, or in the White House, or in the incoming administration, is actually willing to go to the mat on this and risk hundreds of thousands of people being simultaneously dumped on the unemployment rolls.
I could be wrong, of course, but I'm confident enough I've put my money where my "theory" is.
Ouch! Hopefully this ends a little better for all concerned. :)
Looks like Mr. Market has completely discounted last night's Congress-critter-speak.
Is that the annual announcement, or do they really mean it this time?
Dude - I get it - what I'm saying is the phone you're describing is essentially the same phone Apple shipped last year and has since discontinued. And I'm pointing out that most of the interesting apps don't even work without a data plan.
Can I see the reasons why they might revive it anyway? Yes.
Can I see problems with doing so? Yes.
Do I have a "guess" on whether or not it will happen? Yes.
Do I have a strong conviction on whether or not it will happen? No.
Wonder how many iPods and iPhones get purchased by UAW families?
A current iPhone minus 3G and the same form factor is basically the original iPhone. Why would they create a new one when they already had that?
Of the non-game Apps I actually use, virtually all require a data plan to be useful. Color me skeptical as well, this seems like a step backwards.
Just finalizing some artwork for our next project - and I'm sure you of all people know how it is - the thought of generating another set optimized for another screen type is not really something I'd be looking forward to.
Anyway, MacWorld isn't far away, we'll know soon.
So basically, it's a shrink of the original iPhone. Apple has certainly had dumber ideas, though it is yet another development variant to worry about (no 3G and different screen size).
I'm not aware of anyone giving them away with an ISP contract or not. . .at least not yet in the US.
Local DSL provider now giving away Vaios with new contracts. Don't know which model.
The margins suck - hopefully AAPL will find a way around that buy offering a unique spin - but there's just no getting around the fact that a huge percentage of computing needs are met just fine with these things.
Computers as give-away toasters is the inevitable future.
I would be surprised if Apple didn't announce something along those lines in the next 6-9 months. A double-sized iPhone/Touch would do it...
An interesting thread on the economics of iPhone apps...

...these monstrous steel that serve no purpose...
Are you just trying to get a reaction, or do you actually believe that crap?
Hopefully there's some kind of dislocation going on behind the scenes that "we" haven't learned about yet. Otherwise it may imply a rejection of printed dollars at current/face values - which is a pretty damn scary thought.
The only problem is that the WPA did not turn the economy around - after the initial buzz the US economy went straight back into a recession every bit as nasty as the one in place when FDR took office. What saved FDR's reputation was a world war that rubblized every industrialized country except the US.
Sold a bunch...
I'm right there with you, starting to close out upside exposure. It's been a good ride. Some AAPL and some INTC I intend on keeping for a while longer, however.
OT: Mexico, not yet.
I agree, the situationis not as dire as the other countries you mentioned. Here's hoping it doesn't become so.
Maybe I'm raising some messed-up kids, but 4GB isn't even enough for our 6 & 4 year old. It would be barely enough for their Pixar anthology, never mind all the other stuff. I'm not even sure my 70-yr old father - currently buying his first iPod, a Touch - is going to be alright with 8GB now that I've shown him YouTube's repository of old lounge singer videos.
The times are changing - video has gone portable - and with things like the Flip MinoHD it's only going to get more so.
IMO if it has a (real) screen 8GB is now the new frustration-avoiding minimum.
But what's the subsidy on a two year basic cell phone plan?
About $450, for the 3G iPhone.
OT: Mexico seems to be very quickly (re)descending into Failed State status. Not good for any of us in N.A.
