It's not necessarily NITE. There are a bunch of boutique MMs that have shown up the last week or so. Quite a few of them basically specialize in helping obscure order origination.
Trying to make an issue out of nothing I see...
This is standard CYA. He essentially said "if there is a short position (wink wink nudge nudge), you'll have to cover (you know who you are)" without needing to prove anything. The MMs work in shady areas. They don't want an investigation. EIGH doesn't want an investigation. They just want the MMs to take their games somewhere else. The message was sent and definitely received.
And they all look like boutique type MMs

So, the question becomes. Are they opportunists looking to take advantage of an overbought stock? Opportunists looking to take advantage of their fellow massively short MMs? Or were they "hired" to help with the manipulation?
Depending on why they're here, there's a couple possible outcomes...
1) They unknowingly jump in front of the freight train and end up fighting the other MMs to get out with their skin intact.
2) Add fuel to the fire and profit at the expense of their fellow MMs.
3) Succesfully slow down the inevitable (for a little while), but make the coming squeeze even more powerful.
I'll take any of those scenarios... No problem.
It will make it even funnier when he gets backstabbed and burned by his "friends".
Yes it would be. And that's why I think they're playing with fire here. They have tried the resolve of the team over and over again. Obviously they're not going to scare us. Our actions have been consistent... So with that in mind, doesn't it make it likely that we'd pour our profits into the other stocks that didn't run? They're being quite dense at this point.
They're making a calculated gamble here. Hoping to get people flip flopping so they can nickel and dime us to death. But what happens if they don't get the flippers they're looking for and instead one squeeze is used to feed the other... hmm...
But you have to consider all stock moves relative to one another. This stock bottomed out at roughly 0.10/share. Since then it rose to approximately 0.28/share. That's a rise of 180% from the low. No stock goes straight up. It's a given that there will be some profit taking (we know there are flippers involved). It's also a given that we'll conitnue to see some of the same manipulation we've been seeing. This type of manipulation is much easier when the buy volume is low.
Fridays are typically low volume days. So here we are with a low volume Friday after a nice 180% run. The MMs do a little manipulation... The flippers decide to lock in a little beer money... and we have ourselves a bit of a retracement. But volume is the key. We're 15 minutes from the close and haven't even broken the average daily volume over the last 10 days. Compare today's volume to the volume that pushed us up. It's nothing. Not even a blip on the radar. If the volume swells and the stock is going down... then I get worried. That's simply not the case right now.
I'm not going to make a guess as to where the stock is going. That's not my game. I'm more of read and react kind of guy. Right now, I'm just not seeing anything I need to react to. That could change at any moment though.
I don't disagree with you at all. This is very positive news for EIGH.
Hmm... very mixed feelings about this news.
Obviously you've never read a single thing I've had to say. I've never pumped this stock. I've never bashed this stock. I only post when I have something to say. Whether it's giving insight into current stock action or backhanding a poster that is acting like a impetious child.
As far as buying your shares at 0.70, not a chance. I expect that price to occur and be eclipsed. But I will not give anyone (especially you) an easy out. You made the choice to buy in as have I and many others. This is the stock market... nothing is guaranteed.
I think CDIV is a perfectly fine investment. If I didn't believe in what we are doing here, I wouldn't have invested in the first place. If my opinion had change, I would have sold and moved on. I certainly wouldn't show up at every little downtick and blame everyone else for my loss.
Uhh... What?!
Did I miss something? It's traded less than 200K so far and the stock has retraced less than 20%. This moved up on far less volume than both G and E and is holding up just fine.
This is just a walkdown on a sleepy listless Friday. Nothing to see here.
I think it's more of a case of risk/reward. If the reward is too great, I'm not sure I'll be able to stop myself. I'll be going on vacation in a week, so I won't need to post then anyways. Hmm... I'm glad there aren't too many temptations right now... lol
Are you posting on the correct board?
As I mentioned on the EIGH board, I can't see level 2 where I'm at right now, but they're likely boutique MMs. They can be hired by other MMs to help mask moves. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they're running orders for our normal MMs in an effort to make it look like there is increased selling/sell pressure.
It could also be hedgefunds that haven't bothered to do any research deciding to short a stock that looks to be overbought.
Either way, it's fools folly at this point. This mornings little scare tactic sure jarred loose a bunch of shares... lol
No doubt... But these guys aren't too sharp.
Have you ever seen an NFL game between two teams that KNOW they are going to face each other in the playoffs? Notice how they hold back, rest key players and generally try not to give the other team insight into how they might play them in the playoffs?
Well... These MMs are nothing like that. By now, they know they're going to face us in a big game. But rather than concede a little and save some things from their bag of tricks, they're laying it all on the line (and still losing). So what's gonna happen when the heat gets turned up and they have nothing new to surprise us with?
There will also be a lot of buying (by MMs) in dollar land. I'm curious to see where the equilibrium exists.
In other words, they provide other MMs the ability to hide their moves. We're going to see a lot of this crap moving forward on all of the FLDs. Our old "favorite" MMs will start using these littler guys to make it look like there's a bunch of selling going on.
Hard to say, but I know one thing is for sure...
This stock moved almost 50% on less than 1.5 million shares. If the MMs indeed have 60M+ shares to cover... WOW!
Yup a nice 20%+ spread.
That's completely natural. NOT
Someone's sure trying to suck the air of CDIVs sails. lol
Actually, I was thinking it looked more like MMs swapping shares to give the illusion that someone was selling this morning. I find it hard to believe that someone bought or dumped 100K worth of shares and we had no movement either way. It's always possible a seller appeared and was absorbed. It's also possible the MMs were willing to short another 100K to some eager buyers. But the recent action and lack of any additional volume makes both scenarios less likely.
In order for me to answer that question, you need to have an understanding of what is going on here.
The market is an exercise in mass psychology. If mass psychology has taught us anything it's that the collective IQ of the mass is MUCH lower than the IQ of any one individual. Have you ever watched a herd of animals (sheep, zebra, wildebeest, etc.) Have you ever seen what happens when a predator shows up? Only a few of the animals actually see the threat, but before you know it, the entire herd is taking off like their tails are on fire. Humans for all of their intelligence and advancements are not much different. I remember watching a Japanese "candid camera" type show and they were actually demonstrating this concept (for the sake of comedy of course). A man would sit down a suitcase in the middle of a crowded area (subway, mall) and would run away from it as fast as he could. The people nearby would scream and start running away. Those that didn't even see the man or suitcase would run screaming as well in reaction to the others running and screaming. They had no idea why they were actually running. This same phenomenon plays out in the market every single day over and over again.
The MMs know that all you need to do is scare a few sheep and the rest will run. They might try to scare you into buying because your think you are missing a run. Or they might scare you into selling because you think the stock is crashing. They make their living off of driving the herd and over the decades have built an entire arsenal of weapons to help achieve that. These tactics work so well in fact that the MMs have gotten to the point of treating them like a natural law (such as gravity). They can do these tactics with their eyes closed.
Now imagine if one day these tactics didn't work. Do you think the MMs would panic? Of course not. They'd simply try additional tricks. When those don't work, they'll try even more. Their arrogance and pride won't allow they to be defeated... At least not right away.
Now understanding that, apply it to CDIV. CDIV has been accumulated for quite some time. I'm willing to bet the same MMs that are now massively short were helping drive the run to .70+. Why not? After all, the higher they short it, the more money they make when the herd panics and sells. But they encountered something they hadn't seen before. They yelled fire... the herd didn't budge. They sat down a suitcase and ran screaming... the herd didn't budge. They covered themselves with fake blood... A few people started running... but the herd as a whole didn't budge. But just those few running was enough to give them confidence. They thought "Phew... that was close. For a second I thought we were in trouble". After that, they regained their confidence sure that their tactics would work yet again...
So over the last 5+ months, they continued to employ those tactics. Slowly whittling down the stock price. Slowly whittling away at the herds confidence (or so they think). Every time they get one person to sell, they gain confidence that their normal tactics are and will continue to work. But they are losing the battle. They are shorting a lot of shares to regain next to nothing. But they are arrogant and stubborn. They will not give up... Yet. Today's little dump could have been a flipper looking to make a quick profit. It could have been the MMs trying to give the illusion that there's significant selling. But it certainly isn't the core holders. They know what they hold and aren't going to be scared no matter what tactics are employed.
So let them walk down the stock on weak volume. Let them think they are scaring the herd. Let them think that it's only a matter of time before we break. Their arrogance will be their own noose. It's only a matter of time before they accept their fate.
BTW - This is my only post for the day. So please don't be offended if I don't respond to any public replies.
If someone can successfully predict exactly when the MMs are going to pull their tricks, then they are either 1)psychic or 2) working for them. It's just as likely that the MMs will use a bullshake and fake pullback to entice people out before the big blowup. The only reason these plays work is BECAUSE the investors have a common goal. The every man/woman for themselves attitude is how the MMs win 99.999% of the battles.
To be honest, I find it more comical than anything. Either we have a wolves in sheep clothing or someone so bent on personal revenge they're spending hours posting on a board they supposedly don't care about. I'm not really sure which is sadder. Oh well. Last I checked, GRNO may be down from it's highs, but it's still well off it's lows as well.
Actually, that is more or less dead on. But not in the way you think (or hope).
The reason the volume is so low is because the MMs are refusing to short any more shares to create liquidity. This is equivalent to them folding their arms across their chest, puffing out their lower lip and refusing to play with the other kids. This is not a sign of weakness in the stock. Instead, it represents an epiphany for the MMs. They've pulled out their hair, released the hounds (hi hounds), and called on all owed favors. Nothing has worked. Even yesterday's little swap and drop move did nothing to scare the longs out of this stock. Perhaps they'll try it again today, or tomorrow, or the next day. It doesn't really matter. This is the time when the MMs get taught a new lesson.
CDIV is in great shape. And no amount of wishing by you is going to change that.
Not so much a bummer as a miscalculation on my part. But the family is stronger for the experience and I'm holding more shares of the FLDs than I thought would have been possible before. It's not a huge loss for me personally as I've been to both a basic and advanced course already. I just wanted her to get the lessons right from the horses mouth per se. I was planning on going to Boston too. But if she doesn't have the basic before then, there's no sense dragging her along as a spectator again.
Sure wish we were going. I promised Krystal I'd take her as soon as I could afford to enroll her in the class. But since certain "family" members had to put themselves first (in regard to the FLDs), we're gonna have to hold off for now and concentrate more on her ongoing custody battle with satan...err... her ex-husband.
I think his choice of punctuation in that news will be catastrophic to some holders. Obviously there were opportunities to use a "!" instead of a ".". I mean, if CDIV is going to release news, I'd think it would have been better to fluff it up a bit. Point out that Obama loves their iPhone games or that the Taliban is considering completely changing their stance on technology because of the fun addictive nature of what CDIV is offering. I'm sure it's going to get ugly. I mean, there's been no trades at all in the first 30 minutes, but that's because the Chinese stockholders (which currently hold 120 bajillion shares) are still asleep. Once they're awake and have finished translating the news, I'm certain they will rush to this board to try to get comfort and wisdom from certain longtime "supporters". Then in a wave of conscious awakening, they will realize the error of their ways. I bet they'll not only sell all their shares, but will each naked short another 1000 shares a piece. Given the population of China, that's like 2 TRILLION shares short. People... say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to...
I believe the world is burning to the ground... oh well.. I guess we're gonna find out. Let's see how far we've come... Let's see how far we've come.
<Music fades out to silence>
</sarcasm>
I absolutely refuse to believe that post made you feel uncomfortable. lol
Sorry Mel... Every once in a while this board needs to roar. Every once in a while we need to bite back; remind our foes that we are not just a bunch of weak minded sheeple.
But that being done. I agree. Time to bask in the sun now. :)
Duke... Who are you to judge the choices Jason has made?
If this is the path he has chosen, then so be it. Jason is a responsible adult now. I'm sure he's willing to accept whatever destiny his choices have led him to.
Why is it so difficult for you to understand that your opinions are simply that... your opinions. And if you haven't gotten the hint by now, let me spell it out for you so you'll more easily understand.
Nobody here cares what you have to say. Nobody here is going to be influenced by what you say. The day you showed up and decided to shit in our house was the day that we all went deaf to your barking. You are simply wasting your time at this point.
Jason, don't even waste your breathe on this guy.
You have nothing to prove to him and he brings absolutely nothing to this board. Those of us that have met you and had the pleasure of talking with you understand the decisions you have made and are greatful to have you as a member of this family.
If Duke wants to continue to be a nusance, let him. After reading his post to you, I actually feel a little bit sorry for him. Too many of us have learned the hard way that there is no such thing as a secure JOB (sorry Monk). If he can't accept that you have chosen a different path, then leave him to his fate and hope that things work out for him.
Everyone... Remember to watch the volume...
The real cover will come with tremendous volume. Not hundreds of thousands of shares but multiple millions per day (maybe even double digit millions). Be wary of the bullshake. They'll likely run the stock up on lighter volume before bringing it back down on low volume. They want you to think the squeeze is over. Don't buy it.
To be honest, when it comes to FLDs it's nearly impossible to pick a "best" entry point. If you understand the nature of the plays and what is happening behind the scenes, you will understand better.
The MMs and hedgies do not want a short squeeze. They do not want to be forced to cover. They'd prefer if everyone just gave up, sold there shares and limped on to other plays. Because of this, they will fight tooth and nail kicking and screaming until the bitter end. Problem is... No one but them knows when "the end" is. It's the point that they psychologically accept that the only way they're getting out of this is to let the stock squeeze. So they dictate that. Of course, if they wait too long, the SEC will nudge them a bit to let them know they need to start covering. But again, only they will know when that pressure is being applied. We just keep accumulating in small bunches, holding and waitinf for them to accept their situation.
So it's best to buy a core position and slowly add as you can. This will allow your average cost of ownership to be fairly close to the current price when the squeeze does happen. But never spend money you can't afford to lose. These plays are not the type you want to be in with psychological baggage. The games being played are already enough to test your wits end. No reason to give the MMs a head start.
It's funny, having read Sun Tzu, I came to realize the number of battles we go through everday. I think we'd all do good to remember that not all persons that claim to be our friend really are. We have a great family here at the Den. But given the nature of what we are doing and the openess of this forum, we cannot afford to let our guard down even for a second.
But I for one am glad I've found some great people to stand shoulder to shoulder with. I know others have my back here, and I'm sure they know I've got theirs.
Oh come one... That was one time. And if it hadn't been for the damn Spanish Fly, it wouldn't have been necessary. I saved you a lot of embarassment that day. You should be thanking me... lol
Darling... try to keep up... ;)
Note to Self: That one fantasy you have... I think it might just be possible after all.
Sorry lol... that response came so easy I just had to say it... lol
If that were true, he really would be a side show attraction. SideShowBob... the one handed day trader.
Now now... I would most certainly not undress you in public my dear whether we're talking physically or mentally.
Unless of course you're into that sort of thing...
