I called the company today. They say the full release makes clear that they can get the oil out (they or any company like Shell who would buy them) and it can produce 56 million barrels per day for 25 years. They say the bb stocks are manipulated/held in place (stock prices) and are not surprised the stock didn't run like it did a couple years ago. THey said whether the stock is one dollar or 5 right now is not material. They plan to sell to the best bidder sometime in the next year or two. Whether a long time or a short time, they sound confident that those who are patient, will end up big winners. I have owned for 3 years and haven't sold a share. Still holding. Cvet (I own almost 1/4 million shares, so I believe in what they have).
As I said, patience is the key, especially if the goal is to make big money. If this is a success, today's prices will be nothing compared to where it will be 2 years from now. There is a battle at the $1 mark and if it can close above $1.08, I think that is where the post news run began. That would be a technical positive. Give it time and have a great weekend all! Cvet
What I know is that we need patience. Yes we may be surprised with an announcement out of the blue, but my mindset is that it could take one or two years. I personally think it will be sooner than that, but the mindset needs to be longer term. I've been in it now for about 3 years with small regrets that I don't have a crystal ball. I haven't sold one share and have ridden it up and down at least two noteworthy times. I actually don't have strong regret I didn't sell at 1.80-1.90. I'm not in it for that. I was in it for at least 8,9, or 10; and maybe 20 if they had a nice offer from Shell etc. Let's be patient...Cvet
I agree with these last 5 posts and patience is the name of the game right now. I am dissapointed and I have to think the company is dissapointed at the reaction to the latest news release. It would be a lot nicer having these 'pep talks' from the 1.88 leve,, versus the .88 level. I'm also sure the company who bought 1.7 million shares at 1.00 last month also has to be a bit dissapointed as it looks like dead money near term. You never know for sure, but I assume this last release they were thinking would have impacted the investment community more positivily. It is what it is. I remain long, even though somewhat dissapointed with the stock price. Cvet
If we were sure this is their plan, we should all try to sell above .90 and re buy in the low seventies. IF we were sure....Cvet
I agree with all here. Any one who has reservations, should call the company. And not necessarily Terry. There are a couple numbers to call. In the short run, it is frustrating. I had expected more from this last report. I thought they were going to tell us how economically feasible it was in this report. They did not. It also isn't clear when they will tell us. Cvet
This is a good reply. The only thing regarding the 'flip side' is that it was the company that raised cash by selling the 1.7 mil. shares. Do you not think they were given assurances for that trade? Especially with the cash crunch around the world? Cvet
F423: Are you invested in Strata? If yes, explain why. If no, why do you think the stock price is hanging in around a dollar, up from .25 in Sept.? Why also did an Indian company just buy 1.7 million shares at a dollar. I'm not being sarcastic or anything. Just give your frank thoughts. Cvet
Patience is required which very few have. This is a season where we need to not look at every tick. I truly believe by year's end we will see something very positive with Strata. It could be much sooner. I think this is a company which will take all by surprise overnight pratically. Remember that it is up from .55 or so to about $2.00 split adjusted since Sept. 29. And from .63 to .98 since the begining of the year.
I know its hard to wait. Cvet

Which probably means the selling has been over done since the prospects remain. As a minimum, there is a better exit price for short term traders, imo. No company buys 1.7 million shares one month before without knowledge that their investment will pay off. Not in my opinion. Cvet
A buyout is what Strata has clearly stated as their primary goal. To find a major or Shell itself to sell to. Ask yourself why 4 weeks ago, a company from India bought 1.7 million shares of strata at $1.00 per share. My instincts are that they did their due diligence and knows much more than all of us together about why they laid that kind of money down. I also agree that this recent report was not exactly what we were looking for, so some dissapointment is currently reflected in the stock. If the news was genuinely bad, the stock would be at .50 cents. Just my humble opinion. Cvet
I don't get it at all (this drop). All on about 50,000 shares it dropped from 1.21 on the bid to .99. Very odd trading, and dissapointing. Cvet
The market is usually unpredictable, especially short term. When Strata came out with good news last August, it jumped day one on high volume. I bought the next day (again) at like 1.75 pre split. It came down on low volume for 3 days to about 1.10. I just re read the news and told myself, in time, the price will reflect properly. Give it time and I think the market will reflect the good here. If you give it up now, my guess is you will be hugely dissapointed later. Remember that strata was trading at about .65 in January. The market has been cratering and we have doubled. With today's good market news (general news), I see us getting back some lost ground. Cvet
Btw, I don't think the gap was filled. I think it needs to go to 1.25 for it to be technically filled. Cvet
Correct 105 a barrel. You all are correct. IF the strata story is true and the promise is fulfilled, the stock will be worth 10,15, or more a share. Who knows where it will trade in the next few weeks. I think if they keep hitting their targets, by summer or certainly by years end, those who stayed the course will be extremely glad. Have a great weekend, Cvet
With all due respect, most on this board sound like the commercial at the art auction when the guy bought the painting for 2 million and then stood up and said, 'okay I want to sell it now'. 'Sell what?' the autioneer asked. The guy wasn't investing, he was trying to make a few quick bucks and then find something else.
I too am dissapointed with the pull back yesterday and today. And if I had a crystal ball, I would have sold at 1.90 yesterday and bought back in today at 1.30. But since I don't have such, I am at peace waiting for the outcome of what will take place over this next year. The price of oil is $1.05 a barrel and some talk it will go much higher. We are worried about .60 cents when in 6 months, this stock may be at 15. Think about it. Cvet
To Matador,
The answer is 'yes' to your question. You should run with the moderatorship as long as you keep the troops calm and focused. Not sure if I need to do something to pass the reigns. If you can do it on your own, go for it. Cvet
Thank you my friend! I am doing increasingly well physically. A real miricle because I literally came back from the dead. It helps put all of this in perspective. Like yesterday at one point I was up over 150,000 for that day only, and I was just pleased. We need to keep this all in perspective. My wife asked me why the stock came down so much from the 1.96 to where is closed. To me, its just the market. Manipulation and normal profit taking etc, all go with owning. It sounds like many are day to day on this. I personally think this year we will get an offer for the company and it will be very nice. In the short run, I'd just hope the trend stays upwards steadily. Have a great day!! Cvet
Hey All,
The news was positive this afternoon. The market will tell us how positive over the next few days. Remember there are games the MM's play. Be careful to not be quick to get out of your shares. The 60 day high is 1.28. If it breaks through that tommorow; 1.34 is the next resistance until 1.60 which is the 100 day high. Then 2.04 which is the 260 day high. If we break that in the next period of time, nothing will stop it as it makes new highs. Personally I would chill and let the market do its little games. I think the trend will be up over the next few months. Oil is in serious demand, much more so then when Shell bought blackrock. I've travelled Europe and Africa this year and the Chinese and Indians are buying all land with any hope of oil in it. Go out and rent 'Mad Max of Thunderdome' tonight and get an image of how valuable an asset we have right now in Soigf. Sleep well, Cvet
Thank you my friend! I just walked my first full mile since my vitals had stopped. I do agree that prayer is powerful. I also need to be a bit wiser in my lifestyle choices. I pushed myself in unhealthy ways, often overdoing life. Thanks again for your prayers, Sincerely Cvet (Steve D).
Dear board,
I am very sorry I've been a horrible moderator these past several weeks. As you know I went to Africa for two weeks, then came home for some nice root canal which had complications; and two days after that, I had an aortic dissection which basically is the same thing John from 3's company had and died of. It was a miricle for me to survive (only 4 % do), so with all due respect, I not only lacked energy to write, I also got a 'perspective' on all of life.
When my nephew Timmy told me of your warm prayers and kind greetings, I needed to get on and say 'Thank you so much'. I remain weak but I think I will totally recover!!
As far as Strata is concerned, now the price of oil is over $100 a barrel, amazing timing to hear good news. I remain hopeful with the articles currently out there, that we really are sitting on a gold mind. I only am dissapointed in the delay of the release or an interm release updating us as to why the delay. Thanks again for your kind support, Cvet
If you look at the stock action of Strata, we have the markets falling about 1000 points in the new year but strata has moved from about .65 to 1.19. Almost double when both the general markets and oil have come down. That is worth noting. When we are days away from the announcement, I think we will move up another .40 -.60 cents and then the news will dictate where we go the following weeks and months. Then if the news is great, the stock will go much higher when a major comes in. The key will be the news. I haven't sold one share in 2.5 years. I've bought from 30,000 up to current holding of 230,000. So whether I pitch a winner will not be for lack of preperation for the game <G>. Cvet
Marich, It is a nickname that I was given and has continued over the years as a pitcher in baseball and later in other sports. It stands for 'Cagie Vet'. I won many games pitching (at one point 30 in a row and 15 straight in the playoffs), more by being 'cagie' in pitching than with strength/speed. Plus was good at playing with people's heads, getting the advantage by talking a good game. My son, btw, is currently in the army and has spent time on the front lines in Iraq. But no, I am not a vet. Thanks for your service. Cvet
I called the company again today. They continue to pick up, which is encouraging. I suggested they put out a release to confirm they are still fully expecting news any day etc. but they said they won't do it to just affect the day to day trading. Basically that is wise on their end, even though its hard to see light trading and sideways trading. We all have to be patient but I can't imagine it taking more than the rest of this month!! Hang in there longs, Cvet
No one knows for sure where it will go, but I think near term we will see about two dollars and when the news comes, we likely will see five in short order. A buyout would be at least ten. These are conservative numbers if the news is good. If it is great, we could see a lot more. One step at a time though. Cvet
We are days away. I personally would not be selling a share. Strata was set to take off a bit this morning, but the market simply was too bad. Thus the volume dried up and we closed where we started. Considering the recent gains in the stock, today should be seen as a victory. Btw, the yahoo board has not been a great read. Cvet
Again, welcome to the board Marich. I agree with the estimations you came up with and I talked with Strata running similar numbers by them which they agreed conservatively is correct. They know $10 is a conservative and reasonable low estimate of what the stock worth near term without knowing what is on the rest of the land. The one minor disagreement I have is that Strata may not do further drilling, but rather extrapolate theorically with the major on what likely is on the rest of their property. If this first report is excellent, it is not necessarily in Strata's best interest to do additional drilling. It may be best to simply suggest to the major that it is reasonable to assume similar proportions are on the rest of the land and we will sell it all, less a slight discount (20%?) on the unexplored 80%.
Thanks again for your input, Cvet
Welcome to the board Marich! I too am glad you have the initiative to call the company. I too spoke with Terry this week. I am pleased they now are picking up their phone regularly, something that they did not do even a month ago.
I agree that this purchase is a very positive sign. No one makes a purchase like this without assurance (quietly) that the future is very bright. I don't mind if the news is still weeks away because it gives the stock opportunity to continue climbing before news is released. My only slight concern is the price of oil possibly continuing to dip over the next few weeks on concern of recession in USA. A high price at the time of the announcement will give a strong boost to the results and feasibility of extraction.
Having said all of that, I don't think the news will be much more than 3 weeks or so. Terry knows the news will be very soon as it was told to them the preparer of the report should be able to have it by Dec. 31. There is no rationale for a relatively fixed report to take more than the initial 3 month projection. It could still come out this week.
The trickle down in price 4 days this week all came at very low volume. The one nice up day in price came on 3x the volume of the other days. I think such patterns bode well for where the stock will be going in the days ahead. Welcome to the board, Cvet
Indian's are usually smart investors. They didn't buy this amount at $1 at this time if they weren't SURE they were investing in something they wouldn't mind owning the whole thing. This should put a solid floor under our stock price. Cvet
I have 230,000 in at 10, GTC, all or none. If you call in your order, you can actually put it in at higher numbers than if you do it on line. We are another week closer. I think we will hear within one more week. Cvet
Terry. The good thing is these days they are picking up all the time. That too is a good sign. They have nothing to hide and I think they know they have much good ahead. The count down is on in full force. 10 days or less is my guess. Cvet
I spoke to the company today. They have an idea of what the report will be. He couldn't say much, but is 'confident' the report will be good news. I think they know. As we get closer and closer, we will see a push up sharper than what these last few days have been. Clearly the pot is boiling. I think we will be close to 2 before the news comes out. I'm guessing it will be by end of next week latest...Cvet
Today was a good day. Volume still a bit light, but it may increase in the next couple days as we get closer and closer to the release. I'm still looking for a move between 1.66 and 2 before the news is released. Then moves above the 52 week high of $2 (4 pre-split). Getting interesting! Cvet
Never mind, I found it. Thanks for tipping me off on it. I had not checked for a long time and apparently they began a board there a month or so ago. Thanks again, Cvet
What site are you getting other discussion on Strata? I haven't seen anything besides this one. If you have a link, please post. I personally am fine with it being a month away. If it can move up to 2 or more in a month, that will only bode well for the next two moves (on the initial release of news of the actually usability and then on the offer a few months later). Cvet
4th close in a row above a dollar. I'm guessing now that we are two weeks away from the announcement, based on the stock action. Next week I think we move to the 1.16-1.33 area and the following week to the mid to high 1 area. Then the announcement for better or worse. Can't wait. Have a great weekend all. Cvet
IF the news will be released Monday, we should see the stock rise at some point near days end. If it doesn't make much of a move today, it likely will be another week or so. If the news is good, people will know before its announced and it likely will move up to about 1.77 or so BEFOREhand. Then IF its good news, we will likely see 3.25 or better day one and 5 within a couple weeks. If the news is great, we will see 5+ day one and maybe 10 before the next news of the buyout. In Europe the news was that alternative energy must be employed by all companies to the 20% level by 2013. The need for energy is so high, and laws changing to help this problem, any good news from Strata will be greeted strongly by the marketplace. I am being conservative in all my projections. We shall see....U Steve aka Cvet
Hey Tim, Why no 'welcome home'? <G> Uganda was amazing. Any interest in going with Stacy this summer when she goes for a month? I plan to set her up for a week and then go direct to Senegal for about 10days. You are officially invited. U Steve Aka Cvet
Btw, What does MLK mean?? Cvet
