Even though FAS is up over 3% my intraday / swing 30 min Trade Trend chart is still giving a Down signal.
Nearly 0.6 is better than 0.5 as a p value for making a forecast.
I wonder how "shooting star" configurations compare to all other possible candlesticks as predictors?
As it turns out they do not contribute to my trading models, although I do read them. I also read horoscopes (but not EW).
;)
FAS: Shooting star candlestick on the daily chart:

. . . not a good sign for Bulls.
FAS intraday 30 min chart turned Down at 1330 (NYT).
Will it whip?
No one knows because no one knows the future, reliably.
The chart will tell us if and when it happens.
. . .and FAS moves above 100!
Financials charge ahead as economy improves.
FAS, intraday model 30 min chart reversed, now Up, at premarket opening.
I'll post FAS 30 min chart signals when available.
iPad Pep Rally Pumps Up AAPL

FAS turned Up intraday just after the open Monday.
I'm mainly focused on the Daily model at this level. I attend more to the intraday trades, i.e., do them, in-between large Daily moves, not near tops or bottoms. We're near a top presently, IMO.
The Daily model easily divides moves into bottoms, middles, and tops.
FAS Intraday turned Down about 1300 (NYT).
FAS Daily continues Down.
Intraday whips are more frequent at tops and bottoms of market or individual stock moves.
iPads Reportedly Headed to Reviewers Later This Week

SPY whipped today, presently Up.
BGU and FAS continue Down.
Tomorrow is yet to be. Live in the now.
I'm a trend follower based on my trading models. Whether a correction is significant or not is for others to determine after the fact.
As it turned out AAPL whipped today and is again Up based on my Daily model. So it goes for my favorite tech company.
Spikey candles (large range bars) reflects nervousness for ES mini futures traders today.
My Daily model indicates AAPL's next move is Down subsequent to the Up move that started late last month.
Let's see if the chart predicts the future over the next two weeks.
BGU and SPY are also trending Down based on my Daily Trade Trend model.
Although whips do occur with this model they tend to be infrequent and not last long, typically 1 to 5 days max, before continuing a much longer move Up or Down.
FAS, trend is Down: Daily Trade Trend Model turned negative at the close today.
My Trade Trend Model is based on charts 15 min to 60 min and points in-between. My fav is a 30 min chart. When market anxiety and volatility rise more weight is placed on faster, shorter time frame charts.
I use:
1) a standard moving average for direction,
2) a non standard moving average for strength and direction of change I designed,
3) a second trend change indicator, and
4) a standard oscillator.
A signal occurs when 3 of the 4 indicators agree on direction. When all 4 line up the signal is said to be confirmed.
This is typically, but not always, a swing trading model, 2 or more days per signal.
A day trading model is based on the same signals but uses two smaller time frame charts, say, a 1 min, and 5 or 15 min charts (for directional guidance) with trade signals based on the 1 min chart.
Daily and weekly charts reveal large trend changes using the same signals, e.g., the bullish move that started in March of 2009 or the shorter move Up that started last month, 15 Feb 2010 and may be about to change presently.

Intraday model for FAS continues Down.
It looked like my intraday TT model for FAS would turn Up late in the session. But no dice.
Still Down.
Will you be willing to pay half the cost?
I'll give you my full review of the iPad in return.
I want the 32GB non WiFi version.
;)
I'm having a hard time restraining myself from buying a G1 iPad!
My Intraday Trade Trend Model for FAS went negative yesterday about 1430.
No new swing longs for me at this level of the S&P.
Still long SSO and VTI from spring 2009.

TREND1, On my Daily "Trade the Trend" Model BGZ turned Down on 2.10.2010 and remains Down.
I'm more and more following that model as it frees time for other activities during the day.
Take a look at DRN which turned Up on 2.12.2010. A big winner percentage wise.
We may be in or near a reversal for the market in general (and many sectors). This week should tell the tale.

I like AAPL products (own them) but won't buy again for a longer term hold until there is a respectable pullback.
I do day trade AAPL at these levels now and then. But no overnights.
I sleep well.
Check out the ASUS UL20A-A1.
I've had one for a little over two weeks. Very happy at this point.
Check reviews on amazon.
Maybe yes. Maybe no.
Depends on where SJ is . . .
Very iffy, IMO.
How much will AAPL go down the day after SJ departs? . . .the week after? etc.
Are you comfortable holding AAPL overnight? What size position?
Anyone here using Smart Defrag 1.4? Is it any better than the defrag part of Windows 7?
