I strongly believe the post by Karen was manufactured by an Ihubber who posts in the CTNO forum as the post was filled with key info only us ihubbers would know about through our DD. It smells of a pump, and a scam, maybe a long time holder finally wants to jump ship??? I don't buy it, not one bit. Respectfully, IMHO.
Beastie Boys DJ: ‘Scratch’ Will Be Bigger Than ‘Guitar Hero’
Champion turntablist Mix Master Mike told us how he’s bringing authenticity to “Scratch: The Ultimate DJ.”
The music rhythm game genre is about to expand into hip-hop. Genius Products and developer Seven Studios have been working with legendary music producer with Quincy Jones III to create “Scratch: The Ultimate DJ.”
And to lend his expertise to the game, which uses a turntable peripheral, they’ve enlisted all-star DJ Mix Master Mike (whose real name is Michael Schwartz) of Beastie Boys fame. But when he was first introduced to “Scratch,” the champion turntablist wasn’t sure what to make of it.
“Of course, I was pretty skeptical when they told me about it,” said Schwartz in a recent phone interview. “But in the initial meeting when they first showed it to me, it was actually kind of dope; I was pretty surprised.”
“I’m there to make sure it’s as authentic as possible and to make sure it feels like the real thing.”
Once he learned what the game was all about, Schwartz jumped on the project and shared his ideas. “I’m there to make sure it’s as authentic as possible and to make sure it feels like the real thing, as if you were really on a turntable,” he said. “I made sure [the developers] had the scratching sound as close to the real thing as possible, and the whole beat-making thing as real as possible.”
As for the gameplay and design, he said that creative lead Dan Lehrich had a good grasp on things, but Schwartz gave his thoughts when asked. “[Dan] shows the game to me and asks my advice on things, what to change and what to keep, and I give insight on what to do,” he said.
For the turntable peripheral, which former Multiplayer reporter Patrick Klepek got to touch a few weeks ago, Schwartz had to make some changes. “They just had to get the knobs working in the right way because they weren’t up to par — I think that was three months ago,” he said. “Now it’s probably like 95 percent done as far as playing like the actual thing.”
“I see it as a good first step into learning how to scratch.”
So with Schwartz on board, I asked if he thought “Scratch” would help train gamers to become DJs. He thought “inspire” was right word moreso than “teach.” “I think, for now, it starts off with the baby steps,” he explained. “But this is a good start; it’s good for actually developing timing and moving the buttons and stuff. I see it as a good first step into learning how to scratch.”
It also goes the other way: Like with “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band,” just because you play a real instrument, doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily be a pro in the game right off the bat. Schwartz said he wasn’t even playing on the Expert difficulty yet. “I sucked at first — I started me out on a pretty high level, and I got a little mind-boggled because you have to switch back and forth,” he said. “You have to go from scratching to actual beat-making. You kind of have to be ambidextrous, but it’s all in fun. It caters to your skill level.”
“I think it’s going to be as big as ‘Guitar Hero,’ if not bigger.”
Schwartz added that the game isn’t just aiming for hip-hop heads who want to be DJs. “I think it’s going to attract everybody,” he said. “Gamers — period — are going to look at this game, because it’s the first of its kind, so I think they’re going to be really interested. I think it’s going to be as big as ‘Guitar Hero,’ if not bigger.”
Speaking of “Guitar Hero,” I asked Schwartz what he thought about “DJ Hero,” the upcoming DJ game from Activision, the makers of “Guitar Hero.” “What I’ve heard is that it’s not going to be as authentic as ‘Scratch,’” he said. “I know it’s more based on just mixing; it’s going to be two completely different things. This is more based on scratching and beat-making, and the other one is just like beat-matching. But don’t hold me to that, I just heard from the grapevine.”
“What’s great about the game are all the possibilities,” he continued. “It’s crazy, I can think of 10 million things to do next.”
Would that include a Beastie Boys‘ edition of “Scratch”? A publicist on the call interjected and said that standalone artist expansions and DLC are possibilities in the future. “And ‘Scratch’ has got [Beastie Boys' song] ‘Intergalactic’ on board so that should be cool,” Schwartz said. “I mentioned it to [Beastie Boy] Mike D, so he’s looking forward to checking the game out.”
“They’re going to feel like they’re really at a party and as if they’re really performing in front of the crowd,” Schwartz reiterated. “This controller is that legit. I think kids will be excited.”
“Scratch: The Ultimate DJ” is slated for this year on Xbox 360/PS3, packed-in with a turntable peripheral. It also features a custom track by Mix Master Mike.

Famed Beastie Boy Mix Master Mike talks about Scratch: The Ultimate DJ!
How does playing Scratch with the deck controller feel in comparison to what equipment you use on stage or when creating music?
The equipment feels really similar but in a more compact version.
Do you play Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and what are your thoughts on what Scratch does in comparison to Guitar Hero and Rock Band?
I have played Guitar Hero and Rock Band and I will tell you that Scratchis definitely not just the Hip-Hop version of either of those games. As a DJ/musician myself, I can say that Scratch offers features that allow players more creativity and freedom of expression while staying within the boundaries of a videogame.
Guitar Hero and Rock Band have spawned a new generation of guitar players and drummers. Do you think Scratch will do the same, and what advice would you give someone going from playing Scratch to doing the real thing?
I definitely think Scratch will spawn a whole new breed of DJs. DJing generates interest on its own, and once this game (Scratch) comes out, I think that the new generation of gamers are going to be inspired to become real DJs. My advice to them would be to study your lessons, listen to all genres of music for the knowledge and give praises to our forefathers Kool DJ Herc, Afrikka Bambatta, and Grandwizard Theodore.
Which artists are you most excited about that are lending tracks to be played and scratched over in Scratch?
Well the playlist is amazing. Tracks from Eric B. and Rakim, Run DMC,and a track from my upcoming album are all going be exciting and action packed while playing Scratch: The Ultimate DJ.
What are Scratch Tricks and how are they used in the game? Dan Lehrich, creative lead designer on Scratch, told me that Scratch Tricks are kind of like skateboard tricks, is that a fair comparison?
As Dan put it, it's very similar to skateboard tricks but instead, you are now working with scoring points by performing different scratch techniques. In Scratch, players who are more skilled or advanced at scratching, receive more points, allowing you to unlock songs and features.
In your opinion, what's the coolest feature of Scratch?
For me the coolest feature of Scratch is the controller. Feels pretty damn close to the real thing!

Bull Trap - A false signal indicating that a declining trend in a stock or index has reversed and is heading upwards when, in fact, the security will continue to decline.
A bull trap often causes some investors to buy the stock, but because the stock continues to decline after the initial signal, those who bought in are "trapped" in a bad investment.

Off the heels of the Goldman downgrade of GE, Fredman is also lowering his price target to $2.25 for GE.
Options are gibberish to me, but hope you make out like a bandit!
All I know is GE stock price is going much lower. ;oD
I agree, the movie and gaming industries have many parallels. Value can be found by combining the best of both worlds. Video Games are now sometimes bundled with movies.
Options Monster, to each his own, I do not believe in nor wish to partake in options.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but as I said a few times before, I do not have a margin account and I cannot short stocks. I am not an options trader. If I could I would as GE is headed much lower IMHO. GLTY.
Are you sure you don't have mad cow disease? lol GLTY.
Heh ;oD What is your position Cowboy? A fool and his money are soon parted.
There are rumors of the Video Gaming Industry consolidating with the Movie Distribution industry, as they share similar packaging and logistic challenges. Since Genius does a little of both, I feel is it a good fit for ATVI. With QD3 and Numark on board, Scratch The Ultimate DJ should be a winner.
GNPI is releasing Scratch: The Ultimate DJ in a few months. I wonder if it would be cheaper for ATVI to buy the company outright than to design / develop DJ Hero.
GE - No position. If I could short I would hand over fist. Better buy an Ice Cream cone while you still have the loot.
Sell now IMO as it is only a downhill slide from here. GLTYA
Check out the Ihub GNPI thread for more info on GNPI GLTY

Eyes On: Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, a Music Game for Hip Hop Heads
Still have room for another game controller amidst your piles of plastic guitars? The upcoming game Scratch: The Ultimate DJ features a turntable-style controller, giving hip hop fans and budding DJs a chance to achieve virtual fame.
Despite the familiar interface, the gameplay isn't quite Guitar Hero meets hip hop. Yes, just as in other music games you're pushing colored buttons to earn points as songs play. But Scratch rewards user-creativity over rote memorization, allowing players to transform the songs they're playing into something all their own.
I've yet to get behind the wheel of steel myself, but the game's creator recently dropped by Wired's office to give us a first-hand look at a decidedly different take on the rhythm-music genre.
Scratch: The Ultimate DJ is the brainchild of Dan Lehrich, of independent game developer 7 Studios, who is creating the game in concert with Quincy Jones. While he's a fan of rhythm games, Lehrich notes that Guitar Hero and its ilk are "really just this glorified game of Simon Says." The best players show mind-numbing levels of skill and technique, but they're ultimately just playing the same old songs, he says.
Hip hop lends itself to being mixed and mashed, thanks in part to the time-honored art of turntablism. "Being a DJ is more about taking a song that already exists and making it your own," Lehrich says. "I really wanted to figure out a way to take some of these elements of improvisation and creativity in music making, and fuse them in with what everybody expects from this genre."
Music videogames with turntable controllers are, in a sense, as old as the genre itself -- Konami's original beat-matching game Beatmania, the direct predecessor to games like Guitar Freaks (and thus Guitar Hero), was originally released in 1997. Activision is planning a similar game called DJ Hero to be released this year.
The turntable controller I saw was still a prototype, developed with help from Numark, the world's largest manufacturer of DJ equipment. There are five buttons, a crossfader, and a touch-sensitive, high-precision analog turntable wheel, yanked from one of Numark's professional-grade models.
Lerich says the effect 7 Studios is going for isn't about moving a digital switch to hear a canned sound effect. "You're actually manipulating the audio directly," he says. It's a relatively high-end piece of equipment for a music video game, and while the price tag hasn't been finalized, I was assured that it would be reasonable.
Your Scratch career will take you from lowly backyard sites to illustrious high-rise sound stages, as you work your way to the upper echelons of DJ superstardom. Before a level begins, pick the songs you want to play and an appropriate Battle Record -- a collection of brief sound clips mapped to the buttons. These samples range from established DJ sound effects to cartoon honks or power tools, and if you have a USB mic, you can record your own.
The gameplay should feel familiar, at first. Notes cascade down the screen, and you'll hit the appropriate button in time with the music. Occasionally you'll be prompted to scratch, giving the wheel a nudge to alter the sound of the track. Hit all the notes, and you'll earn points and pass the level. But tap the buttons in time with the rhythm when you're not specifically prompted to, and you'll be awarded extra points.
Lerich says that Scratch will also recognize hundreds of "tricks," maneuvers that combine scratching on the wheel and manipulating the crossfader. They're all well-defined, established DJ-ing techniques, and will net you even more points when executed correctly -- tutorials are being implemented to help novices master these moves.
When a song calls for a DJ solo, the notes you've been hitting will be replaced with your chosen Battle Record. These are opportunities to really show off, and the effects you've chosen or created will result in a decidedly unique sound -- if you've always thought Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz needed vocal support from your cats, they'll finally get their chance.
The song won't stop playing if you're not doing well. But if your audience is sipping drinks and chatting, you likely aren't earning enough points to pass. An audience that's crowding the dance floor, on the other hand, is a sure sign that you're doing something right.
In a move that's refreshingly logical, Scratch will allow you to save and view replays of your performances, if you'd like to study your best, or just show off your turntable-mastery to your friends. You won't, however, be able to share these replays online.
The game will ship with over 60 tracks, from Kanye West and The Black Eyed Peas to classic acts like Run DMC and Deltron 3030. Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys will be providing creative and technical input, and music of his own from an upcoming album to be released later this year.
With the right tracks and an authentic controller, Scratch could be just the ticket for the untapped audiences who have no interest in rock-based music games.
Scratch: The Ultimate DJ is scheduled to debut this summer on all next-generation consoles.

GE needs more than just the removal of GE Financial IMHO.
Media titan Harvey Weinstein is excited about the potential of success for his latest project, the big screen version of the muiscal NINE. In a recent NEWSWEEK feature, set before the Oscar ceremony he reflected on a number of topics including his joy about his motion picture transfer of the stage hit. In the article there is also a fun bit regarding NINE star Dame Judi Dench's love of "Harvey" that you won't want to miss.
NINE, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman, recently wrapped shooting and is now scheduled to hit cinemas November 25, 2009.
The all-star cast is directed by Rob Marshall, who also helmed critically-acclaimed 2002 musical Chicago - which garnered six Academy Awards, including a Best Supporting Actress gong for Catherine Zeta-Jones.
In a recent interview, producer Harvey Weinstein is confident that winning formula will be repeated with Nine. He commented to news sources that, "Most definitely. You'll see a lot of nominations. You'll see a lot of dancing too. Really, this is a great musical, a lot of great musical numbers.
"It's directed by Rob Marshall. We won the Oscar for Chicago; hopefully we'll get in the arena again."
Daniel Day-Lewis replaced the previously attached Javier Bardem in the leading role of Guido Contini, Bardem left the project citing exhaustion. Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson, Sophia Loren and Judi Dench star in the film as well.
Nine is a musical with a book by Arthur Kopit and music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and is based off of Fredrico Fellini's movie 8 1/2. The play tells the story of a young film maker living in Venice trying to juggle all of the women in his life.
The Broadway production of Nine, directed by Tommy Tune and choreographed by Thommie Walsh, opened on May 9, 1982 at the 46th Street Theatre, where it ran for 729 performances. The cast included Raúl Juliá as Guido, Karen Akers as Luisa, Liliane Montevecchi as Liliane, Anita Morris as Carla, Shelly Burch as Claudia, and Taina Elg as Guido's mother. Replacements later in the run included Bert Convy and Sergio Franchi as Guido, Maureen McGovern as Luisa, and Priscilla Lopez as Liliane. The musical won five Tony Awards, including best musical.
The first revival of the 1982 Tony Award-winning musical hit Broadway in 2003 led by Antonio Banderas-who made his Broadway debut in the role of Guido. Laura Benanti, Jane Krakowski, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Chita Rivera rounded out the original revival cast.
Nine revolves around one central character, Guido Contini a film director in the Fellini mold. He is contracted to write and direct a film, but is unable to come up with a suitable plot. After recent box office failures, he finds himself drifting towards a nervous breakdown. Guido finds himself examining his past flawed relationships with the many women who have come through his life and the struggle to act his mature age of 40--as opposed to nine.

New Possible Fanboys Blu-ray Release Date

The Blu-ray Disc will street April 28 (prebook March 17) at $34.99.
The five-times Oscar-nominated film takes place in World War II-era Germany and follows the love affair between Hannah (Winslet) and her young neighbor Michael (played by David Kross as a young man and Ralph Fiennes as an older man). Hannah is later put on trial for war crimes as a concentration camp guard, and Michael must decide to save her or not.
Winslet’s winning performance was her sixth to be nominated for an Oscar, following nominations for Sense and Sensibility, Titanic, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Little Children.
“We do expect to see a bump in sales and rentals, for sure,” said Scott Heffron, VP of marketing for Genius Products.
Heffron said that since the title is being released after the Oscars, there was time to incorporate a banner at the top of the packaging celebrating the win. Heffron said Genius saw an uptick in orders for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for example, when it was released in January, after it won the Golden Globe for best picture, comedy or musical (that film has since garnered the best supporting actress Oscar for Penelope Cruz).
The DVD and Blu-ray for The Reader will include 12 deleted scenes and five behind-the-scenes featurettes, including one showing how the film’s makeup artists aged Winslet.
“The content we were able to create really suits a best picture nominee,” he said.

At the least, a major restructuring is due, GE is a big tree of a company in need of pruning, if not an uprooting. IMHO.
I see a gradual decline to $5.00 or possibly even much lower.
Insiders have been wrong before. Sell IMHO.
