niziol I run two laptops with a wireless router.I have my margin account on one and my IRA on the other.
grubmaster I dont own a desktop pc.If the keyboard is unplugged but the mouse is connected, should the cursor be visible on the screen? Will the mouse work independently of the keyboard?
No I had not seen that.Looks like they cover a very small area.Still it is an improvement and I hope other companies have plans for other areas.
OT.Yes Greg it is hard to just move in,and if you are a US citizen then uncle sam is still going to want to know about your taxes.I was hoping ,if I could be more successfull at trading,I could live anywhere for less than six months and pay no taxes.
OT.Glad you had a good time Greg and hope you can go again.I am thinking of going back but not sure what it would be like trading from there.I am only interested in the north american markets so the hours would be lousy. Not sure where I would settle .
Yes I am from there.Havent been there for six years.Internet was not generally available there then and puters were not affordable.I think internet access in many smaller towns and cities still leaves a lot to be desired.
Dont get me wrong. This isnt a silly helpless female. She is wonderfull with fences and pumps. Her dairy inspector always grades her shed an A.But fiddly little PS/2 plugs are not her thing.
Panic over.It turns out she can get to a Dick Smith electronics store and get a $20 keyboard. She damaged the pins in the PS/2 plug.At this rate I have doubts that she will get her new puter running.Get her to go into the bios?Yeah sure.
Ok,she says her keyboard has a PS/2 plug. She is on a dairy farm in NZ so she cant just go and buy a $20 keyboard.Anyone want to suggest a fix?Is it possible to change the plug?
Is it possible?I have a friend who recieved a Dell Dimension 2400 yesterday.Setting it up,she says she has the dell license agreemant on her screen but no way to accept it.Is it possible for a woman to mangle the keyboard plug trying to plug it in?
Ok ladies,flame me .....now!
Thanks,I never realise things were that bad.No wonder my W98 puter gets cranky on dialup.I dont have zone alarm on it due to it having less resources.I altered the bindings on some of the relevant programs hoping that would stump the hackers.
So this a "normal" amount of attacks?
Is this right?Do you believe this?My wireless router quit and I signed up for a dialup connection while I sort it out.My puter has free zone alarm which has stopped nothing when I was on the router. Now I have been on a dialup connection about three hours and zone alarm says it has blocked 180 intrusions,of which 60 were high rated. As far as I can tell, nothing is trying to get out.The intrusions are from different addresses with attacks on different ports.
More MYNG.I skimmed a company report. One thing that impressed me.They gave 45 million options @ 7.5cents to just two people.Makes me wonder how many more of these options they will give .That is my fear.If MYNG gets lucky and strikes it big, scumbag insiders will steal the cream.
OT.Heres one for Zeev to debunk.

NXG is "lagging" behind comparable gold stocks. There is speculation that they have debt and their lenders forced them to hedge some of their production at $304.I bought NXG at $2.02.

pssst Cowboy.Have you heard the rumour that earthlink themselves install spys in your puter if you instal their program to access their service?
That is incorrect! The hole can be any colour.White holes are very popular.
Sounds like something I can try tc.This is scary stuff for me.I just did something that locked me out completely.I was getting the windows log on window."Admin" was already in the user feild. And it was demanding a password.I dont recall ever having to use a password.None of my usuall passwords work. After two hours of panic, this is my trading puter,I found that I could remove "admin" and put in my own name and no password required.Man I was sweating for a while.
I checked F2 setup at startup and all the password functions there are disabled.

Looks like I found the answer.Problem is when I click "ok" on the "run" window, nothing happens.!@#$%^&*darn puter!
XP logon
A few weeks ago I had a problem,my wireless connection suddenly sprouted a logon box.I messed around in my puter trying to disable it and eventually fixed it by resetting the wireless router. But unfortunately I caused a logon box to happen every time I start the puter. This is now a windows logon and nothing to do with the connection.Previous to this, the puter would boot up with no input from me.Now I get a black screen and "unable to log on because of account restrictions".But when I click the ok button it goes to blue screen and shows where I click on my name to log on.It then says it is loading my personal settings and boots up.Major problem is,if I dont promptly click the ok button when I have the black screen it goes to a blue screen anyway and says "windows is starting..",but it never does.It freezes.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this logon stuff and have the puter boot right up after I push the power button?I am the only user.
Quotetracker.I a getting a popup saying quote.com news unavailable.
Yes Gottfried.I also registered my quotetracker but I couldnt get the registration to "stick".You have to copy and paste the registration number out of your email and into quotetracker. For me it would only work for the session and the next day the ads were back.Obviously I was doing something wrong but rather than hassel with it I decided to just accept the ads.
I like and trust Medved quotetracker. Its the advertisers I dont trust.I hope everyone who follows your link goes past the first one and sees where Jerry Medved says there is no spybot installed with quotetracker.
Internet radio.Anyone else get the impression that listening to radio stations on the internet makes you more liable to get hacked?I got this way a few years ago when funny things used to happen to my puter after listening to bloomberg radio.I figured bloombeg were not going to be doing anything nasty but somehow listening to radio made it easier for hackers to mess with you.
In a similar vein, does anyone else use quotetracker?I am suspicious that clicking on the ads in quotetracker gives them a way past your defences.I dont know how long they have ben doing it but I have learned from the quotetracker ads that Dell is doing business with doubleclick.I use Dell puters and I am dissappointed to see them associate with scumbags like doubleclick.
Staples rebate scam.I bought a Belkin wireless router at staples because they said I would get a $30 rebate. Now I have recieved a card from Staples saying they did not recieve my rebate form.Looks like the mail got lost!So I searched the internet and it looks like a lot of other people have had their Staples rebate mail lost.My advice is dont have anything to do with Staples.
Gator got off-hacking is legal.A judge ruled it was legal for Gator to hijack websites and hack personal computers. It is the computer owners responsiility to keep them out.
Is society sick?
If I could I would fire that judges ass!
Avecho. It is actually only for email. There are plenty of ways to get viruses outside of email so they aint gonna put norton out of business.
Gottfried I have two Dell laptops. The oldest one an Inspiron 5000.I am a little concerned about its HD.It seems a little "scratchy" in operation, noise wise. But it checks out ok using Dell diagnostics.I wish laptop HD's were cheaper.Looks like a replacement would be $100.
Good to hear Dell are standing behind their warranty.I will continue to buy them. Not good that they shifted tech support to India.
OK,my experience is with sbc/yahoo but I guess that companies like aol and msn and earthlink would be similar.Part of the sbc/yahoo instal kit is a CD which you must download to your HD in order to receive the service. There is untold crap on that CD incuding yahoo messenger.Computer experts know how to circumvent the CD but J6p's, like me,dont. Now if you use a router you have to download the "crap" for the router but this is usually benign crap. The router manufacturer isnt trying to spy on you or mess with you.So now you can program your router to connect with your modem.Typically it is username/password/protocol stuff. When this is successfully done you can use any puter to instantly connect without logon.
Avecho.Yes I wondered why there wasnt more interest.I looked to see if there was any way to buy their stock.Couldnt find anything.Looks like they are a UK company?
I have been thinking.Companies like symantec dont have any reason to find a "final solution".Why kill the goose that lays the golden egg?
Scrooge, you understand the significance of the router? If you connect direct to your DSL/cable modem you have to load your puter with whatever crap your ISP demands. But if you use a router your puter can stay clean. Also the router acts as a firewall. It is very hard for a hacker to find you and get past the router.
Scrooge, useless info.I run win98 se on one of my puters.I was used to getting 46kbps out of my earthlink dialup. But I gradually found I was experiencing more problems and spending a lot of time" massaging" the system. Finally I dumped earthlink and got SBC/yahoo DSL.I recieve it through a wireless router so I have no yahoo crap loaded on my puter.I have been very happy with it so far.
Bernard, two questions? Is BENGF under Phillipino control?Have you ever been to the Phillipines?
Norton FWIW.I have tried and failed three times to instal norton works on my P4 XP puter.Specifically, live update will not work, and the product is somewhat useless without that.Symantec say I should instal live update from their site.It still doesnt work.Symantec says the puter needs to be "clean".Clear out all the corrupted stuff.Well I tried but I find there are norton files and folders that refuse to be deleated. While surfing for solutions I see that many others have problems with norton.I wont be buying any more symantec products.
Scrooge.Reg/vac has found a ton of targets in my W98se.I removed the novice stuff no problem. My question to you,or anyone that knows,if I screw up with further removals will scanreg/restore get me back?
