I was just thinking that if the posters were serious about a get together around the time of the next shareholders meeting it would be great fun to start an anual awards ceremony for posters. Categories could include: Most informative, most persistant, most entertaining, most inane etc. The logistics, obviously, would have to be worked out but it doesn't have to be complicated. We could use this board for polling and elect a person to keep the tally. Awards could be as simple as a certificate or something a little more creative and appropriate to the honor bestowed upon the recipriant. Any thoughts???? BdM
LeeK videocom has been discussed ad nauseum on this board and the other board. I'm curious about your broker. It's been my experience with "serious brokers" that they are VERY RELUCTANT to deal in OTC stocks. I was delightfully surprised that your broker "turned you on to SEVU". How was the subject presented to you? And other than the issue you presented here did he/she have any other input on this company???? Thanks, The Hag
Matt, I missed it. That was what I thought was on Sat night. I sat through the whole stupid show for nothing. Boy they sure don't make me laugh like "the good ole days". I do a little AMATEUR improv here with a local show and I'M funnier than they are. AND THAT'S NOT SAYING MUCH !!!!!!! Haven't seen MADTV
tell me more about it please. The Hag
Just left a pretty boring party. Hubby's in bed because he has to get up at 5:00 AM and my favorite TV program ("The Iron Chef") is a re-run. Came to the boards for entertainment and there's nobody home here either. I guess I'll just go back downstairs and wait for SNL. Don't usually watch that program anymore but Gore and Bush are supposed to be on and it should be pretty amusing. I was discussing SNL with a friend tonight, reminiscing about the first time I saw it. I almost peed my pants in hysterics. I begged him to turn off the TV because I couldn't breath, I was laughing so convulsively!!!! They were doing a spoof on the murder of the skiier Spider Savage by his lover, the footage was of skiers falling on the slopes with background shots and commentaters saying "OOPS she got another one" After that they went into one of their classic commercials. It was for Purina Rat Chow. There was a row of about twenty rats all lined up in front of bowls with a voice over saying "they won't walk away they get pushed away" I can't tell you what it was that tickled my fuuny bone so much, but at the time, as I said, I was sooooo hysterical I couldn't breath.
So my children of the corn I'm going downstairs, hopefully to be entertained. Sorry to be so longwinded but I had some time to kill. BdM
Just came over here from the other board. Nothing but spam there. BUT noticed that there was a lot more than usual. AND NO BASHING!!! I realize that we don't trade on the weekend but there is always some bashing going on. This added to the fact that the Spam is particularly high makes me left here scratching my head. What does it mean???? Am I reading something into this or is this an indicator that we really have arrived? Opinions please. The Hag
SRS, just got off the phone with my broker and she told me that a rule 144 form needs to be filed. This can bedone prior to the 12 month restriction ending. You can file the form yourself or have a broker do it for you. They will charge their usual commission for this. If you file yourself you will have to trade on line. (I think) The Hag
DK I'm no expert either but my interpetation of "This debenture..." refers to the repayment of the loan plus 8% interest that we made to the company. Now I'm not sure but if you haven't converted by then you may not get your certificates. You may just get your loan back plus the 8%. ?????? The Hag
I think someone posted that SEVU assumed we'd all want the certs and therefor issued them to all debenture holders. JMHO
OK Just got off the phone with Marcy at SEVU and she confirmed that it is one year from when your certificate was issued. The original date on the cert is in the upper left hand corner. The Hag
I'll call the company and get back to you unless you find out first. As I said before I'm REALLY GLAD I was locked in because I don't have really good nerves and I might have sold at least some of my shares early on. It doesn't matter now because I plan on holding on for along, long time. The Hag
DK Ditto.
To Searobin, if you haven't already done so you need to get your debentures converted to certificates now because you'll still have to wait one year from the date on the certificate before you can sell. Not that I plan on selling any time soon but...... The Hag
I love the volume!!!!! Does anyone know what the record is for one day volume? The Hag
Was this a reference to"The Point" by Harry Neilson (sp?) I loved that movie. I'm sending my son to Blockbuster's now for the video as I'm "over the limit" but am in the need for a "time out" Thanks for the recommendation. The Hag
Yeah, Smellz, I can smell it from here!!! What's up with these guys? Nobody fighting with them over there so they have to come here and pester us?? The Hag
I'm conducting another unscientific poll. ALL POLITICS ASIDE, it's strictly about that kiss; was it as nauseating to you as it was to me? It seemed to be SHOUTING "Nothing wrong with my marriage!!!!" I mean I've been with my husband for twenty-four years I love him and he loves me (I know this because when I ask him if he still loves me he responds with "I'm still here aren't I") I can't imagine him kissing me like that esp in front of the whole world, YUCK. So anyway what do you all think was it a thumbs up or a thumbs down? Not political, just personal. LOL BdM
P.S. I really am bored, look what I'm doing!!! I need to go read a book or travel to my neighborhood watering hole.
OK, that WAS fun. I needed that knowing that my husband has been out tearing up the reds ALL DAY while I was working and running 87 year old Gore supporters to do their errands. TOO FUNNY. One point though, Uncle Al's face does that all by itself whenever Bush nails him on an issue!!!! Thanks for the laugh I REALLY NEEDED THAT. BdM
FG Couldn't get your link to work. No not having any fun here today. Even the stock boards are boring except for some new guy that just showed up on SEVU. Get back over there and kick his butt would ya please?????? AND BTW My prediction is that Gore's going down!!!!! We shall see. Wanna bet???? BdM
The issue was addressed three or four posts later. Sorry I don't know how to post a link to the response but I'M SURE someone else here will do it. I'm not sure I want to see the garbage on the other board drug over here, however? Is this your first post????? I don't recall having seen you here before. It makes me somewhat suspicious of your motivation. Is it Bagus or Bogus??? The Hag
I saw a documentary about the warm mineral springs that we all own now on the local public school channel the other day. It was produced by FSU. The springs (yes it is a sinkhole, a lot of popular dive spots are sink holes) ARE REALLY COOL even though they are warm. Warm gives it additional advantage, particularly in the winter. The archeologist that gave the presentation explained the MANY resources exibited there. Fossils clearly demonstrated that the first settlers to this area lived along side now extinct animals such as the Giant Sloth, Mammoths, Saber Toothed Cats, etc. Any one who dives would have a ball there. In the background, you could see many older folks taking advantage of the curative powers of the springs. I even saw one patron being pushed in a wheelchair. I'm going to take a ride over there one of these days and see what it does for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I need to get off the steroids I've been taking for 5 plus years. I'll let you all know if I feel better. The Hag
OK FG and Claire, I'll bite. My first conversation with Mr McBride was on the phone when I was deciding whether we wanted to invest in SEVU. He was very personable and easy to talk to. At the shareholders meeting he seemed less approachable, perhaps it was nervousness. Their presentation (demo commercial) was non yet in the can and I'm sure there were other issues he was dealing with as well. He was a tough read that night. VERY STIFF, he looked like he would have rather been anywhere but there. My guess???? I think he may be a bit shy. That would explain his ease in communicating via the phone and through The View as opposed to facing a large crowd in person. JMHO BdM
I think women are definitly more prone to intuitive thoughts. Perhaps it is we are by nature more "right brained". Men tend to compartmentalize. The ability to deal with different issues at one time also tends to be a more masculine trait. All that being said I find it interesting that the vast majority of spiritual leaders seem to be men.
George Bush was on David Lettermen the other night. He read the "Top Ten things he would do when elected" #2 was "A thorough scrubbing of the Oval Office"
Hey Rich, old buddy, regular guy...don't need help with my mortgage but could use a few bucks for my son's college bills!!!! Just kidding, I'm quite thrilled with what I've made on SEVU already, even if it doesn't go up one more penny!!!! Hope you find a way around the regulations so you can keepposting "The View". No you don't owe any of us anything more than to continue to run his company to the best of your ability, I just LIKE hearing from you personally, it's unique. The Hag
So much for the notion on the other board that IHUB is a "cheerleader's board"!!!! Perhaps I was a little hard on Heathbar. I realize that he/sheis a new poster here and his/her posting style may be based on reading the other board. I really like the fact that IHUB is a safe haven for intelligent discussion and free from personal attacks. That is why I only post here. I hope Heathbar continues to provide info as the posts were reassuring and encouraging. Thanks, The Hag
Heath, be polite please. Don't you know this is the gentlemen and ladies' board. DK is allowed to question. That's what message boards are all about. CHILL OUT!!!!!! The Hag
Just spoke with the car purchaser and she said the problems were more related to registration and warrenty issues. Is it true though, that most of these purchases are from overseas and if they are defective is there protection? I'm all for saving a buck whenever possible. My knowledge of the Grey Market is VERY limited so if you could expand on any info about this I would appreciate. Thanks, The Hag
p.s. I SAID Billy Bass was a silly example, just used it to stress the point about growing too fast
Heath, GreyMarket?? That causes me concern. I know someone that bought a car via the Grey Market and it was nothing but headaches for them. Again the parts they are purchasing and cars may be apples to oranges but......
RE: Shipping times, may sound like a stupid example but we ordered a Billy Bass as a joke for my husband, some weeks later we were notified that they were back ordered and were given the option to cancel our order. Guess what? We cancelled. This may be the reason why SEVU has stopped running the commercials. Please don't misunderstand, I REALLY LIKE THIS PRODUCT!!!! I have confidence that SEVU will be successful, however, as I stated in a previous post, the biggest cause of failure in a company is to grow too big too fast. JMHO The Hag
FG, I consider health insurance to be"compulsary". Yes if we had invested these premiums over the past 15 years we would have a lot of money.HOWEVER, if someone in myfamily came down with a serious illness, we would have been totally wiped out. I get irritated about the fact that we have paid our dues and there is no protection against the OUTRAGEOUS premium increases every year. $100.00/month is just absurd. Sometimes I feel like getting rid of everything, quit working sell the business, go on disability etc. etc. etc. In another five years we will be paying $1000.00/month. BdM
OT: Bio, check your mail, I sent you a PM, nothing sinister folks, just some questions about Biotech stocks. The Hag
Claire, I can send you a nice Red. Would have to be packed in dry ice and overnighted. I would be delighted to share such a WONDERFUL thing . Can send recipes too.
RE: My take on this election I'll give you an example as to why Gore is pandering to the seniors. (i.e. "free medicine etc.) I take my 87 year old neighbor on errands. When it was time to vote in the primary last month she was excited to go vote. The first thing she said was "I'm voting for Gore" I had to explain that this wasn't the election she would be voting for him in. Her memory is so bad that when we got to our polling place they could not find her in their register. The reason why... she was a registered republican trying to sign in under the democratic log. The candidates know that seniors are the highest pecentage group among the voters. Hence, tell them what they want to hear. Can they accomplish what they say? Well they try. LOL I have RA, we have been insured for twenty years and I used to shop around to keep my premiums down. Now that I am diagnosed I'm locked into a company that increased my premium $100./month. I now pay $6,000/year with a $5,000 deductable. Where's the relief for people like me??????
Had to pay for my MRI and everything else. BLAH, BLAH,BLAH
Doesn't anyone want to come and play anymore. I'm home alone, my husband went out for Sushi and my other son, (not the brat in college) is out for the evening. Without anyone here to pester me I feel the urge to be a chronic poster coming on!!! I caught three, nice Redfish yesterday!!!! BRAG. Did anyone watch the debates last night. I'm taking an unscientific poll, who won? My vote was a draw. Saw a funny EMAIL sent to one of the talking heads program, think it was Fox, it said "Bush makes things happen, Goremakes things up." BdM
RE: PE and stock value. I'm comparing apples to oranges here but my biotech stock has a PE 7.6 and a TON of cash (owns 12% of Abgenex. he bean counters are all saying that this stock is trading well below its value. Granted, they are just recently running in the red and the big bucks will come when and if their research produces viable therapies. However, if you are estimating stock prices on PE's there is a BIG dicrepancy between the two.
RE: Shareholders meeting and how one proves themself to be an investor (see post10007 on the other board by YIT11) nametags are provided at the door for all who RSVP'd that they would attend. No we did not have to show our certificates. This guy really is too much. TheHag
Mad, isn't "Use other people's money" a basic principle in business? My brother is an economist, I'm going to ask him about this.If financing is the holdup, which I don't think it is, then borrow away. I'm a little naive about many of these issues so forgive me, please. The Hag
I would think that an open letter to the public that does not include "private" information would be OK. Don't know the laws, just an opinion. I would hate to see "The View" go away. For me, it's REALLY IMPORTANT that Rich be able to communicate with us in this forum for two reasons: Clarification and saving valuable time and money by not having to answer all EMAILS individually.
OT: Bull, I think Mr Spock would be more appropriate as long as you can keep your emotions in check. I know that's a monumental task considering the circumstances. LOL The Hag
Thanks for the input everyone. I think its better that in the future Mr McBride be more careful about projections. Especially knowing the kind of spin the bashers are capable of.
THANK YOU Bulldop, for boldly going where I would not dream of being even on its best day!!!!!!!The Hag
How serious is cutting the projections by 1/2? How much do you(anybody) think the stock price will be impacted? I can accept the reasons as to why this figure is different, but I am in SEVU's back yard and am comfortable with this company's potential. All of these issues have been discussed here and on the other board ad-nauseum. My concern is about new investors. What impression will this news leave on them. Perhaps the company should provide a more detailed report addressing this issue. Discussion please. The Hag
Nope, don't know (assuming) him. He just volunteered his services. Would love to get away, New Orleans/Calif, esp at Christmas. Just think, no cards to mail no gifts to buy/wrap. I think you will definitely need a car in Calif. Taxis would be a huge expense with so many places to go and see. I hear that many rental companies have those cool locater systems in thier cars now so you won't need to worry about getting lost. Just watch out for the crazy drivers. Saw people reading newspapers and putting on make-up while driving on the expressways at 80mph. YIKES!!!!! BdM
Dahlias looks like it could be just you and smells for Calif. My son's tuition is stopping me from going anywhere for the next 21/2 years. The nerve of that little brat. Are you still planning on FL this Jan????? BdM
Tony, I spent my summers growing up on LBI. Loved the striped bass and bluefish as well. Of course, my preference is for littleneck clams, steamed. I could eat 100 of them right now. I hear the water in NJ is clearing up. My brother still has a summer home there, he has a tuna boat that he enjoys on the weekends in the summer. The Hag
Where does Yahoo get its info from? Ten employees cannot be correct. They had more than that at the sharehplders meeting last year. I think the sales staff alone, according to PR is more than ten. Who would invest in a company @ 10/share that is that small? JMHO The Hag
Smells, too late to edit my previous post but I thought some clarification was need. My concern about our reputations was not because of having a gentleman escort but generated by thinking that if we were all being driven around by you we would all smell like fish hence the need to do laundry all the time!!! Perhaps Dahlias could come up with a Dahlias cologne. BdM
The offer about the laundry was very nice but after it was done would it have that fishy smell? And are there a lot of cats in San Fran? I have nothing against them, I have two myself, but would they be following us around in droves? Another porential problem!!!! BdM
