Digitalway is concurrently building feature- differentiated Odyssey 1000 units for their use in Asia--where their OEM and branded products are the #1 selling digital audio products--as well as in Europe and North America.

"Our manufacturing partner, Digitalway, Inc. of Korea, is concurrently building feature- differentiated Odyssey 1000 units for their use in Asia--where their OEM and branded products are the #1 selling digital audio products--as well as in Europe and North America. Through Digitalway and other OEMs we expect this important new product, based on our patented MicroOS™ technology, to be licensed with variable features for sale around the world. Each licensed unit is expected to display our "Powered by e.Digital Technology" tag line; e.Digital will be credited as the developer and we will receive licensing fees and royalties for each unit sold."
gernb1, interesting that ONLY EDIG has a voice driven jukebox available...considering the continued focus on voice technology.
Certainly sets the Odyssey 1000 apart...
Still the ONLY jukebox available with voiceNAV !
Duke, it does appear larger when you click onto it. You can actually read the screen.
Gil, we have see what the NY Times and Parade magazine think of the Odyssey-1000...just a matter of time to seize that sliver...perhaps under multiple branded products.
One product success = $1.6 Billion in one year...
Apple is now on target to sell 4 million units total since its release. If we take an average of $400 a unit, that means 1.6 billion dollars in revenue for the company. For a company that earns about that much revenue in a single quarter (1.4 billion in the quarter ending September 2nd), this is tremendous achievement."
A tremendous achievement indeed, and all based on just ONE successful MP3 player.
EDIG needs a sliver of this market to make a huge difference. Should they turn that deal, and they will, IMO, the delay to market and disappointments will soon be forgotten.
Thank you for your e-mail, XXXX. With APS, we are in discussions and
negotiations with other airlines and content providers who are expected to
become partners on this system. We will be providing further product and
business updates on this going forward.

blackdog, if you are a trader, that is for certain. But those who have, and are continuing to build positions in companies, take advantage of buying opportunities, whether or not they seem prudent in the short term. It all depends on how wide of an angle to which your lens is set.
During the 90's Warren Buffet's strategy was called into question as he avoided tech and missed out on some outrageous returns. However, he was true to his investment strategy and he is looking rather good by today's standards.
If EDIG were to break out a quarter as much as it did in '99, you may have a different perspective on what feels good at this moment.
The problem with your truth regarding a season to own and not own, is that it is next to impossible to know when to be in and out while you are "in the moment", to which we can all attest.
Our most vocal critic and day trader was calling for all to bail at $1.10, shortly before the stock hit $24 and change, yet he'd have one believe he has his finger on the pulse of the company at all times...but we know where his finger really is.
So there are risks with any strategy...fortunately for those positioned long term, there remains plenty of new company business ahead as well as the coming of the Odyssey 1000...and a price per share extremely LOW....a situation in which many continue to take advantage.
LL, I wonder who in this group would have been able to hold a long term position in a little known dorm-room start-up called DELL, who took on some well financed heavy weights in an already crowded sector...and traded without much excitement for some time...then finished the decade as one of the leaders in the industry.
D.inkie, Sorry....
thatI read your post...lol.
D.inkie, I think you owe redwing99 that apology.

redwing99,
yes, it will be nice to get info on where IFE is headed along with the Portal Player connection that came to light at the SHM.
I am fairly confident we will have our O-1000s before years end and likely before Christmas.
The Silhouette find is a result of the October launch plans, IMO, and does not reflect more recent developments.
Although the Silhouette was another potential means for revenue, it never really "fit", from my point of view. I liked the direction to offer an iPOD on steroids for less money...that's where the growth and profits lie, again, IMO.
Looking forward to continuing developments !!

pack, what's with the 'passing of judgement' comment ?
After all the discussions...nice.
They delivered product. You had a stinkin' recession across the board that brought many a company to their knees.
The Odyssey 1000 remains a viable product in a highly visible and growing market segment. Management has yet to discover how to exploit their product design...but as you say, time will tell.
correction, make that two MXP100s...
packers, I own an MXP100, two TREO's and an Odyssey 300...
the company delivered, maybe not on time, but they got a product to market within reason and have been selling products in retail and etail all year long.
Certainly I would like to see them have better information as to their delivery schedules and also sigh at the missed deadlines, but lie ??? Hardly.
And I bet I will have my Odyssey 1000 before years end...but I won't be posting complaints here if they are delayed a few weeks.
BigonEDIG, what retrofitting is required for a self contained portable IFE unit ?
"We believe that establishing short-term guidance prevents a more meaningful focus on the strategic initiatives that a Company is taking to build its business and succeed over the long-run."
What a concept...investors vs day traders.
packers1, the retail market, ala Blockbuster, made the commitment to shift from VHS to DVD, thus giving the consumer enough content to justify owning the "next generation" hardware technology, clearly better than the old VHS. Thus, DVD player sales begin to rise. That was not the case initially. It was content related.
Eventually, the CD will go the way of VHS, as quality and content continue to improve and grow for the alternatives.
50+
If Portal Player provides the "guts" for such market successes as the iPOD, and the microOS is needed only for more complex issues in a box, perhaps the iPOD, or other such offerings may start to get more complex...
VoiceNAV ipod perhaps ??? Just conjecture on my part.
Looking forward to more information at or around CES 2003.
IBM dropped from 126 to 54. It was brutal 3 years.
Times and perceptions change, as does stock price.
EDIG sits with a 'more than viable product/design' in a market which continues to be perceived by the consumer as the next generation of product...MP3 players vs CD players.
Making headway has been a difficult task, but the validity of the markets has been substantiated by other companies also vying for that space, while EDIG's proprietary technology continues to make inroads into new industries with new applications.
The issue was having the cash to play ball. Some things do get resolved.
Funny that this observation occurs at the LOW...
The Qs were available when the stock was moving up as well, and no one here invested in EDIG due to the previous Qs, but rather on the potential of a technology which was properly focused on future markets...which are still quite viable market opportunities for a company with a burn rate in the neighborhood of $250K/mo.
In fact, the markets for EDIG's proprietary technology have expanded during the past year, and are now not only focused on the growing MP3 market but auto infotainment and IFE units for the airline industry as well.
What moves stocks is not a rigid model which is used as an explanation for a brutal 3 year recession, but rather evidence that the potential is turning into reality and there is a viable opportunity for growth to continue down the road.
Because one investor is now "out" only means another is "in" at a much more favorable level....all part for forming the next wave up.
In due time...
spectra, just hard to believe that the price didn't get hit more with that large of a block, if it was indeed a sell.
JimC states is was.
Just back from lunch...looks like there was a bit of activity today.
correction...may not have that right...

greatturtle, my 12 year old won't give my Odyssey 300 back...
I will keep my Odyssey 1000 under tighter security ! lol
I liked the instant gratification of being able to listen to tunes right out of the box.
Enjoy !
regarding that MAJOR airline...
just one more revenue source happening now.
Please repost the NY Times article on the Odyssey 1000...
Thanks !
LawyerLong, this investor is right there with you.
The viability of the Odyssey 1000 looms large, along with the autoinfotainment and IFE markets, which are just now about to go live.
D.inkie, now that's a growth industry worth pursuing...
"And the McKinsey Quarterly report says yes, we are ready for this dynamic solution, predicting that by 2010, total annual U.S. telematics revenues could reach $40 billion and estimating industry growth at 2 to 2.5 percent yearly."

packers1, true only if they are honest questions...but I think you know, as well as anybody, that there is and has been a concerted effort to malign this company for some time now, for an assortment of reasons other than wanting serious questions answered. There are ways to get questions answered. Anonymous posters with multiple aliases harping and distorting the negatives is NOT an honest effort at getting questions answered.
And this daily assault on EDIG didn't help the share price at a time when the company was trying to raise capital via the shelf filing...hence, inadequate capital for new product introduction.
But the game is far from over. Although there was justifiable disappointment with EDIG not meeting its projections from earlier this year, it amazes me that some think this last quarterly loss is insurmountable. When you see the product success of other companies and the dollars they are generating from DAP sales, and the increasing market acceptance of the products in expanding markets, again, it will take just one deal or set of circumstances to turn this company around.
We are NOT looking at shrinking markets by any means but rather an expanding product mix in multiple industries...all still based on the companies proprietary technology and designs.
While I can understand why some investors have chosen to take leave, I can see why new investors will find this investment extremely attractive as real products begin to get introduced.
The PARADE magazine exposure was just an inkling of the type of interest in the latest gizmos that the interests the consumer. Couple that with IFE and auto infotainment hitting their stride and the last quarterly numbers will look like chump change.
Investors buying in the penny range with actual products under the company's belt and multiple industries being leveraged will likely yield a good investment opportunity as the opportunities for this company are much more in focus now than at any time previous.
The lacking ingredient ???? Not proprietary technology, product design or market demand, but rather capital...and that can be remedied in an improving economy.

E.DIGITAL CORPORATION SUPPLIES PRODUCT PLATFORM FOR NEW BANG & OLUFSEN PORTABLE MP3 PLAYER
Sleek BeoSound 2, Now Available to Consumers, Wins "Best Overall MP3 Player" Award from MensJournal.com
(SAN DIEGO, CA - June 28, 2002) - e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG), a global provider of comprehensive digital product development and designs, and Bang & Olufsen, a premier European audio/video company, announced today that the first consumer product incorporating e.Digital's technology and Bang & Olufsen's sleek industrial design is now available to consumers through Bang & Olufsen retail stores in the United States and Canada.
The BeoSound 2, labeled "Best Overall MP3 Player" by MensJournal.com on June 2, combines a sleek, stainless steel appearance (compared with a UFO on more than one occasion) with an intuitive user interface. Bang & Olufsen includes their extremely comfortable A8 stereo earphones for excellent sound quality and a style that will be the envy of all your friends.
BeoPlayer software and a USB cable connect BeoSound 2 to your PC and make it easy to organize, download, and enjoy your favorite music. The 128 MB storage capacity (using a removable MultiMedia Card or Secure Digital Card) holds about 4 hours of music, and its rechargeable Lithium Ion battery lasts approximately 10 hours.
Jens Victor Fisher, Product Manager, Bang & Olufsen, added, "Together, our developers have created our first portable design, an MP3 player for people who consider the world their home. Working with e.Digital let us take advantage of their portable product platform and streamlined development of BeoSound 2."
Fred Falk, CEO of e.Digital, stated, "Bang & Olufsen has earned a reputation for outstanding product quality, audio quality, and styling over their 76 years in business. We are proud to have a part in their beautiful new BeoSound 2 portable MP3 player, now available to consumers exclusively through Bang & Olufsen retail stores. BeoSound 2 is a premium example of the type of products supported by our platforms and technology, and we look forward to working on future Bang & Olufsen products together."
e.Digital's MicroOSTM-based custom product platform is employed to manage MP3, AAC, and Windows MediaTM (WMA) formatted files within the unit and provides the pocket-sized player's functionality once you take it on the road.
The two companies have worked together since announcing a licensing agreement in July 2001. BeoSound 2 will be introduced to the United Kingdom later in 2002.
Flippin' thru "W" magazine,
a very high end, oversized fashion magazine, I came upon a special advertising TECHNOLOGY spread which has a nice picture of the Beosound 2, by Bang & Olufsen (and EDIG).
A very high end advertisement with some very good company that covers several pages.
The entire section is called "The Line on DESIGN" and is sponsored by Chrysler.
"W"--December issue.
FWIW
emit, Sweet ! Looks like CES will hold more new developments!
Good news !
Yes.
Maybe they were not privy to exactly which week it would debut but they obviously gave them the player for the shoot.
The stock market will be closed Thursday to celebrate the Thanksgiving Day holiday and will close early at 1 p.m. EDT Friday.
