Look how thin the material is between the center piece and the side. This area requires significant flex yet is so incredibly thin. Looks like liquidmetal, and reminds me of Dan Mchughs marketing/white paper document from late last year.
I think we all missed it. Look at the new trackpad lever mechanism. Flat. Returns to shape repeatedly. Just my opinion.

I had no clue they could vary the amorphous proportion...great info!
Absolutely true. FACT
Great info. Appreciate the share!
Thank you?
Rare that anyone would dump at this point. I think it’s accumulation.
Great DD today! Thanks jotu and josh!!!!!
That’s what I think too.
So you’re asking us all to sell 25%???? Really?
That makes no sense at all.
Well said Paraclete
Thanks for the info. This carries much more weight than someone’s biased opinion.
“Under the guidance of Apple”....see below!
Thanks to TomTom.

Mobile phone frame
Compared with stainless steel or aluminum alloy frame, liquid metal has performance and price
advantage. The strength of liquid metal frame is much higher than that of stainless steel and aluminum alloy. The most significant advantage of this material is high strength, high hardness and high. Wear resistance, while being thin and light, can also protect the phone from shock and screen damage. In addition, the liquid metal is formed by injection molding at one time, which can meet the molding requirements of some complicated structures, and because the molding process is close to "net forming", less post-processing is required, which can effectively reduce the post-processing cost. At present, the price of a liquid metal mobile phone frame is about 120 yuan to 150 yuan, which is cheaper than the stainless steel frame and aluminum alloy integrated frame.
Detailed introduction
Under the trend of 5G communication, wireless charging and full screen, the process of metallization of mobile phones has begun. The trend toward demetallization will reconstruct the entire mobile phone appearance industry value chain. Under the guidance of Apple, the appearance of mobile phone parts has evolved from a single to a "sandwich" trend, and the double-glass/ceramic + metal middle frame solution of the appearance material will become the mainstream.
Under the new situation, the design route of the double-sided glass/ceramic + metal middle frame is in a dominant position in the future, and the penetration rate of the technology route in the middle and high-end brand mobile phones is gradually increasing. The industrial trend of the new material back cover + metal middle frame will highlight the value space of metal frame products. The middle frame of the mobile phone is an important component in the structure of the mobile phone sandwich, and the key components supporting and carrying the core components have many requirements in terms of strength, structure and heat dissipation.
Aluminum alloy has always been the protagonist of the middle frame material of mobile phones, but with the comprehensive screen technology and wireless charging and 5G requirements, the space requirements for the metal middle frame are becoming narrower and narrower, and at the same time, the strength requirements of the metal middle frame are also Higher, the protection of the glass by aluminum is insufficient, and its own insufficient strength results in easy deformation of the extruded glass, resulting in fragility of the glass.

Great info—completely forgot about the first one, and knew nothing about the ceramic one. Thanks! The 3D print option has merit and would be faster. MatterHackers was a surprise...perhaps we now know why.
Anyone?
Yep, confusing.
Question: what are the liquidmetal molds made out of?
The grooving and injection molding of the metal in the frame is said to reduce the negative impact of metal shielding on the high-frequency transmission efficiency of the internal antenna.

Best review yet
Holy crap...lol
Interesting: the iPhone 4 was introduced at the wwdc.
Luxshare just hit 52 week high on significantly higher volume.
Luxshare nearing 52 week high.
Ok we finally got there. Thanks everyone.
Exactly
More curiosity than anything. Thanks
Anyone know how many shares Steipp still owns?
Great post
Apple will want the watch to be 5G for certain—this plays right into liquidmetal.
Whatever
“purchase equipment for molding metal casings”
Catcher invested $24B new Taiwan dollars—roughly $790,000,000 American dollars. This purchase started in 2017 thru 2019 per the article.
Quote and link follows.
“Catcher had a market cap of 187.59 billion New Taiwan dollars ($6.28 billion) as of Monday, and logged NT$91.62 billion in revenue last year. Its capital expenditure topped NT$10 billion in both 2017 and 2018, mainly to purchase equipment for molding metal casings. Its capital expenditure last year was NT$4 billion.”

This all about 5G. The Qualcomm dispute stalled 5G for Apple. Now that Qualcomm is back in play—Apple has a real need to for Liquidmetal-for iPhones and the watch. This is just my opinion.
