Veritas,
Re: options and TRWCZ
I had been watching AXL move, and then noticed TRW moving up big and looked into the options for it. The Mar 2.5 Call was .00 - .05, and still being new to options, I watched and didn't make a move (not having extra funds for it either). Then it went to .00 - .15 and today the price crossed 2.50 and the option for it is .25 - .45.
10 contracts of it at .05 = $50 to buy
10 contracts of it at .25 = $250 when selling
I'm going to keep watching these until I feel more confident and then can go into them with a lil more cha-ching.
Sector watching: auto parts. I used to watch AXL, LEA, and TRW and NOBL. I noticed that sometimes those three take off in that order and then NOBL follows. Now, things have changed a lot with a few of these companies in the auto parts on the verge of banky, however, I saw in the past day or so, AXL take off, then TRW, now LEA, and NOBL is lagging but starting to move just a tad.
worth a watch if any are interested.
Ned likie that post very much. Thanks Prof QuillandPenn.
Go chart and others. Sitting back and studying so far.
Reminder: She's an ex-girlfriend Chart, wish her well and move on.
You've done well with others while she spent time primping.
That is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it. I'd like to do the same for me one day, one for me.. and one for my daughter (she's six).
I'll keep soaking in all the info from those who share here, and then hopefully be able to challenge the Profs one day with a hypothesis of my own.
Thank you, I had put that on my wish list at Amazon, so I think I'll get it too.
I prefer to drink one of these:
My mom wants to know if you'd like to be adopted.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, I'll check out Options Millionare, etc.
I found a good amount of information on web sites here and there, which I've been using and also been dabbling in options so far and am learning as I go.
I'm leaning towards having a tangible item to hold in my hands and use offline as I live in a good amount of pain, and too much computer time doesn't help with that.
The idea of straddles fascinates me as I had always thought about that strategy in my head, so its interesting to see that there's a name for it, although I'm keeping it basic with Calls only at the moment.
Thank you again.
Homework huh? I normally did best in the back of the classroom hiding. But if you're calling me out Prof QP, ok, will do.
This looked very interesting, so I ordered the book "The complete TurtleTrader" by Michael Covel.
Is there any particular book on options that you can recommend?
Thank you.
Awesome. Cramer couldn't even get in a retort in any way that could back up any of his points, or the clips that showed him as a complete and total fake and a lying SOB.
I knew Cramer was going to be on the show, but forgot to watch it. I mentioned once before that I started watching Bloomberg News one day and was amazed at how much CNBC seemed like the National Inquirer after watching Bloomberg.
Its the difference between actual reporters and promoters.
Thanks for the link and reminder.

Chart,
Congrats on your daughter's soccer success!
My niece just made varsity softball as a freshman. She's one of three girls, and their dad is a huge sports fan, so they all can outperform a lot of fellas (and strike me out too - which isn't hard).
Ultimately though Chart and Doc No, don't you think that the market, once it gets a chance to take in the fact that it may finally be going bankrupt, that - that will be a positive thing? As in, ok, lets get this thing cleaned out and back on track to be successful in the future.
Thank you for the links to the videos and books Veritas. I have found them interesting.
CENX: Aluminum and China
HUMEYRA PAMUK
Reuters
March 13, 2009 at 7:10 AM EDT
LONDON — Copper climbed around 3 per cent on Friday, with sentiment boosted by higher U.S. and European stock markets, while a fall in both London and Shanghai inventories underpinned prices.
Copper for three months delivery on the London Metal Exchange rose as high as $3,690 (U.S.) a tonne and was at $3,675 a tonne by 1016 GMT, versus Thursday's close of $3,580 a tonne.
“The main driver is stock markets,” analyst David Thurtell at Citi said. “The Dow Jones index was up very strongly and continued to rise after the FTSE closed. Metals have been taking quite a lead from equities for some months now.
“They will probably continue to do so, certainly today,” he added.
...............................
LME aluminum rose $25 to $1,365 a tonne, as the market shrugged of a massive rise of almost 75,000 tonnes in inventories, bringing the total amount to 3.36 million tonnes.
Sentiment has also been lifted by a fall in China's aluminum stocks by about 500,000 tonnes from 1.1-1.2 million tonnes in early December and by an 16 per cent fall in Chinese output of the metal in the first two months of the year.
“In aluminum, China matters,” ANZ's senior commodities analyst Mark Pervan said. “The supply side is heavily skewed to China, where they have sunk a lot of money into the sector and are ready to come on when prices firm. Some 35 per cent of world aluminum production is in China so a big drop in production there will be positive.”
Zinc rose to $1,240.50 a tonne from a last quote of $1,222/1,225 a tonne on Thursday. Stocks of the metal, used to galvanize steel, fell by 2,850 tonnes.
Lead was at $1,255 from $1,237 while nickel gained to $9,650 from $9,500 while tin edged up to $10,450 a tonne versus $10,395.

AXL:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc's (AXL.N) auditors have said the auto supplier may go out of business because of pressure on its main customers, General Motors (GM.N) and Chrysler CBS.UL.
"As a result of the current automotive industry environment and the uncertainty relating to the ability of GM and Chrysler to continue operating as going concerns ... it is uncertain whether we will be in compliance with the financial covenants ... throughout 2009," the company said in an SEC filing on Friday.
"Should (the company) fail to be in compliance with these covenants and we are unable to obtain a waiver or amend these covenants, we may be unable to continue as a going concern."
A $30 stock in mid-2007, American Axle's share price has languished below $1 through the month of March, falling as low as 26 cents on Monday.
Last week, the company was warned by the NYSE that it might be delisted, a factor it also cited as putting pressure on its ability to stay afloat.

APPY: This just released via their web site. Conference at 4:30 Eastern.
AspenBio Pharma to Proceed With FDA 510(k) Application for AppyScore(TM)
Management to Host Conference Call Today at 4:30 ET
CASTLE ROCK, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/12/2009 -- AspenBio Pharma, Inc. (NASDAQ: APPY), an emerging bio-pharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of novel drugs and diagnostics for humans and animals, today reported additional information and planned next steps for advancing its AppyScore™ product through the Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") application and clearance process following the recently completed pivotal clinical trial. AppyScore™ is the world's first blood-based test being developed as an aid in the diagnosis of human appendicitis. Based upon the assessment to date, the following key points are made:
-- The company confirms its plan to file a 510(k) with the FDA to seek clearance of the AppyScore ELISA product used in the pivotal trial as soon as the extensive filing application can be completed and reviewed by the Company's regulatory advisors.
-- AspenBio expects that the product indication will be as an, "Aid in the Diagnosis of Appendicitis," to be used in conjunction with other physical and laboratory tests.
-- The clinical trial data analysis supports that the AppyScore analyte
MRP8/14, provides valuable clinical information in the diagnosis of
patients with lower right quadrant abdominal pain.
-- AspenBio believes that the AppyScore test, upon commercialization,
will have a sensitivity and negative predictive value of greater than 90%.

Thanks Q&P.
Ok. I'm going to order a drink and tell the bartender to bill Fedex for it and see what he says.
Any thoughts of another one in the auto supplier sector like TRW to follow? I noticed a few others up too today.
Thanks.
Great Job Fedex.

MarshMania, No worries. Thanks much for notifying us, that was help enough. Good luck with your software tests.
Thank you MarshMania. Its much appreciated. I was wondering why it shot up 18% on open. I just looked for updated news on them right before the market opened and didn't see anything.

Here are the results for today's unusual stock volume scan. The scan looks at the previous day's volume and compares it to the recent average volume. It then sorts the stocks based on those that showed the biggest increase (the "unusual" part) in volume.
These are the top stocks from today's scan, which has some basic filters to eliminate stocks that don't trade frequently. A description of the column headings is below.
Bottom fishing huh? I'm still in it from before with some options, so I hope a few of them shares surface soon.
Bottom fishing. Reminds me of the time me and my college friends went up to Canada (Lake Nipissing in Ontario to fish) and found out that they don't sell beer on Sundays, that when you set the alarm to get up at 4:00 AM, you shouldn't set it to wake with the radio, because the station isn't on air then, and that you should check with the lodge ahead of time to see if they're having a reunion for 65 year old ladies.
All we caught were clams at the bottom of the lake. Was fun none-the-less.
Good luck everyone and hopefully no clams for anyone today. Morning.
Ok. I'll sell when you buy and you buy when I sell. Then the only thing that can happen to us, is the dreaded, purgatory price, in which the price of the stock sits and doesn't move until one of us budges.
