So- I'm ticked off with the dip of course but... this is overall good news, right?
Will check out, thanks!
For the hell of it:
Back in December last year... I had a powwow with one of my brothers... we were scratching our asses for a while, I felt, after missing the mjna Canadian boom- so we sat down one night, drank some whiskey, and went through every mjna penny stock available to make some picks... (I compiled an initial list of 50 or so- can't remember from where)
When we came upon XXII's website, we saw the banner, and moved on... once the FDA announcement was made many months later, XXII popped into my mind- and since that day or so, I've taken a strong position... the number of clinical trials using their patented tech was a major influence
https://www.medicalnewsbulletin.com/tobacco-addiction-influenced-cigarette-nicotine-content/
These results suggest that a national regulatory policy to reduce the nicotine content of cigarettes may greatly reduce levels of tobacco addiction, particularly in vulnerable populations. Additionally, this would greatly reduce the harmful effects of tobacco for human health. Cigarettes with lower nicotine content could be used to gradually treat tobacco addiction and allow individuals to slowly rely on lower levels of nicotine until they can successfully stop smoking. However, studies of extended exposure to reduced nicotine content cigarettes are needed to see whether low nicotine levels are sufficient to prevent tobacco addiction and to help lead to less tobacco dependence globally.
Yes... I like everything you said here.
Except I see $10+ :)
Correct. Scott continues to comfortably say FDA will follow a science-informed approach... of course, he knew the results of the study prior to overemphasizing this statement.
I'm looking forward to early retirement...

Wallace, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1991, ultimately died of the disease in 1992. Paige told jurors Wallace's nicotine addiction was so strong he could not successfully stop smoking, despite numerous attempts and his own cancer diagnosis. The lawyer added that Wallace's addiction was driven by tobacco industry initatives to keep their smokers hooked. “They calibrate and manipulate nicotine to sustain addiction. That’s what they do. They’re in the business of selling nicotine, an addictive drug,” Paige said. “Ninety percent (of smokers) start as teenagers and half die. That’s their business, and for fifty years they lied about it.”

IMO, good that even this idea is out there... the compromise will be XXII's tobacco...
What other biotech co. are you invested in?
I refer you to the Clinical Trials section:
http://www.xxiicentury.com/
Understand it's teens who first get addicted to smoking and often want to quit but can't due to neural mechanisms. This is the vast majority of smokers today. That said, I agree on the ritual- in fact, having a middle-eastern background with a father who smokes pipe tobacco, I too enjoy the ritual as I identify it with my culture.
Last paragraph from WSJ article:
Dr. Gottlieb “called for a bold vision for the development of breakthrough technology,” Debra Crew, chief executive of BAT’s U.S. subsidiary Reynolds American, said at an industry conference earlier this month. “Surely, we can deliver nicotine products to adults who want them in formats that do not pose the same level of health risk as smoking.”
It DOES seem like BAT is going in another direction... rather than not seeing value in XXII's tech
Prepared for what- dip in pps?
To be clear: does XXII have the option NOT to accept the agreement?
Interesting CNBC article... XXII mentioned!

"To be sure, small companies are innovating in big ways. 22nd Century Group's Goodrich Tobacco has created low-nicotine cigarettes. The company modifies tobacco plants' genes in some varieties and breeds plants in others to manipulate how much nicotine the plant produces."
Don't understand. Can you elaborate?
In CC at 36 min. ...nice to hear CEO say, "without disclosing non-public info. we can just say that we have ongoing relationships with all our competitors and a project or two underway... I'll leave it at that..."
Anyone have info. about what came out of the New York Forum? On anything? (not necessarily XXII alone)
Must say too, it could be PMI wants to lead the pack in playing the "good guy" here... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-13/philip-morris-pledges-1-billion-to-foundation-to-fight-smoking
...damn well knowing FDA announcement will come to fruition sooner than later...
Last line sticks out, on farmers: "The new group, called the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World, said it will fund research, evaluate the impact of smoke-free alternatives, measure progress toward eliminating smoking and consider ways to prepare tobacco farmers for reduced demand."

Philip Morris executives say they’re firmly committed to the sunsetting of cigarettes. When asked for specifics, however, they shy away from a hard deadline. “I hope it’s not going to take that long,” Calantzopoulos says. “At a certain stage, once people see everybody around them using these new products, I think that constantly accelerates the process. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.”

Right here.
All I've got to add tonight is--and I don't know what compelled me--that I bought more shares at 2.80 in a blink of an eye. Something will happen soon, and it'll be grand.

Can you elaborate on this comment? Want to make sure I understood you clearly.
YES, thinking similarly.

Didn't Henry also say in the CC they were less than 1yr away from a non-GMO version of the tobacco?
A few of you mentioned Henry is going out on the road... to Europe or something... more details please and where'd you get this info.?
Well I heard that Jason Bond sold his XXII shares 2 weeks ago or so at 2.03... so what does anyone know. Of course, I hope the pop wasn't because of some service... still, the fact that XXII is forgoing the investor conference is telling.

Using history as a guide to end tobacco addiction
http://scopeblog.stanford.edu/2017/09/08/using-history-as-a-guide-to-end-tobacco-addiction/
"As I explained in a recent op-ed for the New York Times, the Food and Drug Administration will try to mandate the reduction of nicotine in cigarettes to a sub-addictive level. However, they will encounter ferocious resistance from the industry, which sees nicotine as the indispensable ingredient of their business. For beginning smokers, nicotine is actually a negative in the smoking experience. Once addicted, most smokers regret having started. It will be crucial for the FDA to reduce nicotine sufficiently to make sure these new users don’t become addicted. De-nicotinization is easy. Multiple techniques are available to achieve this, including genetic technologies and some of the same techniques used to de-caffeinate coffee."
