Dr. Gottlieb “called for a bold vision for the development of breakthrough technology,” Debra Crew, chief executive of BAT’s U.S. subsidiary Reynolds American, said at an industry conference earlier this month. “Surely, we can deliver nicotine products to adults who want them in formats that do not pose the same level of health risk as smoking.”

It DOES seem like BAT is going in another direction... rather than not seeing value in XXII's tech
