Hey Detearing, following you and rocco over on AAL.
I've jumped in and out of FNMA a couple of times between $2 and $3 over the past couple of years. Kinda kicking' myself now I didn't hang long.
Oh well, got some skin in the game now at $4.70. Hope I'm not too late to the party. Figure the big boys know what they're doing.
I think we'd all love to see that!
I'm guessing we'll get a nice little pre-4th of July celebration gift, maybe something similar to the initial distribution (total speculation and wishful thinking here).
It will be announced, regardless of what it is (or isn't), on or around the 23rd of this month.
So far we've done pretty gosh darn well!
Congrat's to all AAMRQ-er's!!! Go Long! Go AAL!!
Wahooo!!
I remember a day when I posted we would all look back and say, "I wish I'd bought more at $34".
Awesome day to everybody!
WAHOOOO!!!
Ohh Yeah!!!
Green Friday!! And +40!!
Double Whammy!!
A green Friday! Always a good thing.
Up, up and away!!
Too funny.
And great DD on the $40 pps.
Thanks for both...
Lol. Dude that's hilarious. you got me :)
Oh come on. We're being asked that 5 times a day. No offense but everybody, really?
I look back at a multitude of articles like this.
And then I check my account balance.
...enough said.
Yeah, I don't know what's funnier. Them calling that wrong, or them urging everyone to stay on the sidelines and wait to buy, or them urging everyone to sell as it nears a high (most recently).
Ha. I'll pretty much just disregard everything I read from them and do my own DD.
agree totally. walk away a little and don't sweat this too much. it will give you an ulcer fro sure.
Yep, Summer will be here soon enough and the party will really begin.
Just keep the faith, take a breather once and a while, and buy the dips.
We have an armada of analysts, fund managers, corporate officers and board members behind us. As well as one heck of a CEO.
Go AAL!
wow. Great stuff jmb.
Thanks for that
I know.
But it's so much fun!
Clearly some folks got an inside scoop.
Somebody definitely knows something.
Wahoo! 37+
IMO you should just make short work of the whole thing by being long on your distributions as well.
It should be over a year since you bought AAMRQ (easily) and then over a year or more since you got your distributions (AAL) as well.
"How" you ask?
BY NOT SELLING THEM.
This is now the largest airline in the world, with only one single stinking quarter behind it to realize a ton of synergistic cost savings and revenue boosting. Which it has not done yet BTW. That's nothing. Especially when that quarter was a stormy Winter season.
Just imagine where this stock will be this Fall? Or in 2015? When it's $55+ pps you're gonna be worrying a lot less about short term/long term. :) You're going to be too busy figuring out ways to spend your new found gains! :)
Next week is going to great IMO.
We've had a good run here of shaking out the profit-takers, short and medium term holders, bond folks, etc.
Now it's going to be turned over to forward looking investors and long term people. Of which I intend to be one (even though I'm already quite long on AAL/aamrq).
IMO this has a $30+ floor and, barring any major upheaval in the world, it's going to establish this foothold and only climb from there. I'm a buyer anytime it even glances in the vicinity of that number.
I grabbed more at $34 and will continue to do so.
Our Sage has spoken.
Respect.
Jmb, it's because of folks like you that I love this board.
I couldn't ask for a more streamlined, lean, mean, DD sniffing machine than the awesome investors I've encountered here.
You rock and so does the info contained in your post.
"Be greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy…" we've all heard it and read it about a million times, but the dude knows what he's talking about...
Glad to see (read) you're smiling.
This is very interesting, and explains a lot. Make sure everyone, to read the ending:

Right there with you.
But we survived the DOJ and a heap of other stuff. What fun would it be if this stuff was predictable? :)
Okay, maybe "fun" is a stretch...
It's a turbulent ride for sure but it's not as bad as you're making it sound. This is to be expected after such a steady and prolonged rise. It's really not realistic to think any sector, airlines especially, is going to have such a long, uninterrupted winning streak.
You actually answered your own question in your post IMO. It's employees, bond-holders, etc. (and I personally know several) who are "ducking and covering" and selling out. Not the big boys.
Grab some cheap shares and enjoy the ride back to $40+ after a successful quarter or two. Plus the strong possibility of dividends in our future.
To correct you: It's the NEWEST largest airline in the world.
Meh.
Up 300%, down 12%…
I think we're gonna be okay.
That's exactly what they did, and are doing.
It's going to take a few more sessions to clear them all out.
Amen Sir!!
The accounting firm overseeing the BK designated accounting and share distributions had informed your brokerage firm, (and all of ours) to establish the escrow account, record share numbers held, and assign it a CUSIP.
This was done for obvious reasons of accounting and they will be the ones to tell your brokerage firm when it is no longer needed. This also will be when their services are no longer needed as the accounting and distributing will be finalized and the BK dispelled, etc.
This will be no sooner than late June per the legal doc's, and possibly the escrow account will linger to the fiscal year end in our accounts, who knows, but it's just for their purposes. We'll get what they determine we should get, simple as that. And they are not entirely done just yet.
Which is a good thing :)
yeah, the whole bouncing knife thing applies here. Definitely.
Everybody needs to take a deep breath and remember all we've been through already, this is nothing in comparison.
There are a lot, and I mean a LOT of shares out there now, and many in the hands of folks who aren't in it for the long(er) haul. We've just got to let a lot of people cash out and get these shares into the hands of people going to $50+
When you see stuff like the T. Rowe Price article, you know the big boys are going to just scoop up millions of more shares at some point. They're just waiting for this knife to stop bouncing.
And when they do…..
Yeah, Scottrade is the worst, but it will eventually show.
You just have to sit back anxiously while everyone else on this board lights up when it lands in their accounts first.. :(
A small price to pay for getting FREAKIN' RICH!! Wahoo!! Did I mention that!!??
Go AAL!
I'm in Los Angeles and I want someone to plan a Vegas celebration when this hits $45. Which will be sooner than we all expect IMO.
GO Long, GO AAL!
Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.
I'm up so much on this, I would be a real jerk to sweat any rough seas. Just look at dips as buying opportunities and have a little faith in Mr. Parker. I got a strong feeling he knows what he's doing.
Go Long, Go even LONGER,
AAL!!
agreed. I've been watching them, and betting contrary to their advice, for a long time. There are clearly hidden motives and agendas at work. Or good old fashioned ass-covering. Either way, I avoid them like the plague. I prefer to do my own DD and live with it. I sleep a lot better at night.
just gotta sit through a little turbulence. nothing we haven't seen before. this is breakfast for a lot of us aamrq-ers.
go long!
Yup, I'm checking and waiting as well…
Have a good one! Toast for all of us who can't make it but are there in spirit!!
Go AAL!!
Agreed!!
Go aamrq longs!
Go AAL!!
Yuuuuup! Like I said, wishing we bought more at $34 :)
Have a great weekend! AAL!
Thanks 8, that's a great article. Very succinct and filled with info I think most of us on this board already know and believe.
I'm holding onto everything I get, buying the dips, going long-ER, and reminding myself of this truth: there will be a time when we wish we'd bought more at $34.
Go AAL!
Overweight and Outperform. Amen to that!!
Yup! I'll take that!
