Question for Watts:
Is it possible that Liquidmetal in and of itself is a Black Swan?
Nobody will see it coming.
HAHAHAHA. I can't wait for Monday as well. I have a very interesting meeting!
Apple is going to be able to solve so many crimes now that your fingerprint will be scanned every time you attempt to unlock your phone. Think of the fingerprint database that they will have on file.
Stupid criminals are about to get F&*Ked up..
Imagine.. Terrorists are going to have to walk around with dumb phones for the rest of their lives in fear that a drone will match their fingerprint and bomb them 10 minutes later.. I think this is fantastic.

Elon Musk just compared his Hyperloop to a "railgun"....
Another idea.
Why do duracell and energizer batteries corrode? Would it be possible to make super thin batteries that don't because they are amorphous?
Read my last post and contact me with your thoughts... Interesting thought!!!!
I THINK EVERYBODY HERE WILL LOVE THIS!!!!!
I think I know what these shapes are..

I believe Apple is going to soon discontinue the MacBook Air and instead just manufacture a base without a monitor. Your iPad will be the monitor and they will kill the UltraBook category completely.
A larger 13" iPad will be introduced further cementing my view.
Read this for more. http://www.macrumors.com/2013/08/09/size-comparison-of-a-12-9-inch-ipad-with-smaller-ipad-models-and-13-inch-macbook-air/
So at the end of the day, those shapes in the first link are the external wedge shapes of the base of the new "keyboards" that will replace the MacBook air and these will be made for both the 9.4" iPad and 12.9" iPad.
Once again, Apple will cannibalize their own industry to stay one step ahead. Everybody will have an iPad, everybody will buy a 13" iPad and then they will just get an Apple iKeyboard or whatever they call it. You will have amazing battery life for non-Pro users. Apple will have everything integrated in the cloud running i-OS7.
It's a brilliant cloud strategy that can't be copied by the other companies that don't have the eco-system. If Samsung is getting further away from Android which all indications point to, then they will lose the only eco-system that can truly compete with Apple. Apple is about to roll heads!
It means Liquidmetal would use a poison pill. We'd be lucky to get $200M and I'd be furious.
So I'd have a triple on my hands, but this tech is easily worth multiple billions of dollars after mass adoption.
They should use LQMT for the components that make convertible tops in automobiles possible. Car manufacturers want stiffness and rigidity. LQMT provides both and a light weight. It sounds right for this application
An apple buyout would be the worst thing that could happen next to bankruptcy. Apple typically only pays $150 million for acquisitions. Why would they buy something they already own the rights to? What we want is for Apple to use Liquidmetal for casings.
That would be worth more than a buyout. That would be a huge spike in PPS just because of the brand recognition.
Most intelligent people refer to it as the SMA..
Just saying!
Something I wanted to ask is this.
1. If Liquidmetal knows that the medical device prototype competition is titanium, what is the current addressable market for that part that is made of titanium. How much of that market is dominated by titanium and what is the monetary size of that addressable market?
2. If Liquidmetal owns 70% of iGolf, then Liquidmetal will obviously earn 70% of the revenues from this venture. What percentage of this market does Liquidmetal believe it can capture assuming the prototype testing goes as hoped? How large is this market in terms of dollars?
This would give us a much better understanding of the near term opportunities for this alloy assuming the testing of prototypes results in a positive result.
This is for jewelry!
CORRECTION:
Those helmets used a type of paint that was referred to as a Liquidmetal color. Those helmets as far as I remember do NOT have Liquidmetal in them at all.
I don't believe they will be bought out. I just don't see it in their future.
I think this has a lot of potential if they can execute.
You will never see a $10/share buyout. I hope you're joking.
That would value the company at $3 billion dollars and this is not a sure thing. Lets hope they score a few contracts and that this jumps to $2/share prior to Apple using it. Then if Apple uses it next year (at the earliest), we could jump up to $6 maybe.. Then and only then might you get a nice buyout offer.
Till those things happen, you're dreaming..
Sandy,
We haven't had the appetizer. The olive oil is just warming in the skillet..
Do you smell what's cooking? :D
Chris,
You are absolutely correct. It'll be the iPhone 6, not the 5S. I just wanted to clarify that this was the best $20 million investment Apple has ever made, all in the name of margin expansion.
It will not be in any of this years devices!!!
Very smart post. At $3 billion, it's a $10 stock. If we land a big, longterm contract, this could be a rocket ship. I was waiting for a special paycheck to add a large position of a stock to my portfolio but no longer can as it took off. It's a shame too.
Honestly, I hope this stock gets hammered after earnings in the name of self interest. Then, I hope it prospers! :)
According to your post, the Liquidmetal pieces cost 41.85% of the cost of CNC parts when amortized over 20,000 units. Now, consider Apple cases are all processed by computer numerical controlled devices (CNC) and they aren't making 20,000 units. This past quarter, Apple SOLD 31.2 Million iPhones, 14.6 Million iPads and 3.8 Million Macs. TOTAL = 49.6 Million devices.
Apple needs to increase their profits. The only way to do this is to make devices cheaper in quality or cheaper in cost of manufacturing. Which of the two above mentioned directions do you think Apple would prefer to move towards? The mobile phone market is a race to the bottom. Apple is not competing in that race towards lower prices because it's a race with no winner. This is the race that Samsung feels it is winning but the difference in profits at the low end are night and day.
Apple would rather fight the smart fight. Apple will continue to increase their margins at the very hight end by inventing better, more efficient manufacturing processes. This will allow them to continue milking their profit machine for years to come while avoiding the low end market.
Tomcat,
Welcome back..
Sorry to hear about your cat. Maybe you should buy another one, name it Bob!
Bobcat
Is the Visser Plant solely dedicated to Liquidmetal production or are they able to use other non-amorphous alloys as well?
Cookie pants,
Thank you. Finally, somebody who "gets" it..
I am just holding on, hopeful for an order..who knows what will happen if we receive one of a decent size?
There is supposing based on fact and there is supposing based on blind ignorance. Yours was the latter.. Don't try to claim ignorance as it just makes you appear more ignorant.
Sandy, just because you made a very lucky guess doesn't mean you're smart.
You are so clearly wrong here and Watts is just staring the purely obvious... Let this one go
If they would just make a razor for shaving that wont dull, i would pay 100 for that alone... A razor blade that doesn't dull, doesn't have to be sharpened, etc.. They could even make a really fance/shamcy handle for it... I mean, seriously...
Think about how many disposable razors you go through in a year. It's sad, wasteful and stupid.
Chris
What is the "laminar flow technology"
The knives are a Kang company. That does not qualify as a contract. We need a 3rd party, unaffiliated company, to place a real order. Then we're off to the races.
I think the springs, noted in the blog, might be a nice start.
In case this hadn't occurred to you. If they can now make LQMT 3 meters wise, that is getting very close to 10 feet. Most floors in buildings are 10 feet tall. It would seem to me that this could have some pretty interesting commercial applications for weight supporting structural design limitations. It would not pass fire tests due to extreme heat, but there are other ways in which I'm certain it could be used.
Those Vmatter YouTube videos are super douchy.. Seriously, where do they find these people. It's like Kang walked up and down the street and said, "wanna make $5". I'm shooting a commercial...
WATTS, (need your help)
The MTA says Liquidmetal contributed "substantially all of its intellectual property". My question is the use of the word "substantially". Is it possible that Liquidmetal will still derive revenue from Apple in the event that there were one or two patents that Liquidmetal retained outside of the scope of the MTA...
HAHA.
Well, my ass hurts if its any consolation. A month ago I told myself I would buy 500,000 shares when I got my bonus on August 1st. Clearly I can't afford that now
Sandy,
Imagine how good it will be in 5 years!!! My friends think I'm crazy for my strategy.. Soon they may think I'm a genius..
I have always said, Apple is the research and development arm of Liquidmetal. We own the alloy, they develop the process. We get to capitalize on all other industries.... Wow!
Thomas Steipp has previously stated that amorphous alloys will be a 15 billion dollar industry. Nobody else has access to our alloy, our research and development budget (Apple) which is unlimited, and our supply chain manager (Tim Cook)..
You would have to be an asshole to not see the opportunities this presents. Two years ago I owned 86,000 shares of a penny stock at a cost of $0.80/share. I sold it at $1/share a day later and have kicked myself for two years as it rose to over $12/share.. With LQMT, I own approximately 750,000 shares. If this becomes a billion dollar company with PE Ratio, that's a $3/share stock. If its a $15 billion dollar industry, considering our first to market advantage and Apple as an exclusive client, how much of that industry will we command. Lastly, if we command $1 billion of the $15 billion with a PE of 20, what will the stock be worth?
What will YOU be worth??????? Have you thought this through???
Visser is about to make so much more money than he could have ever imagined. He will honestly be a new oligarch..

Life is good! Life is good! :D
Wow... That's crazy volatility. Imagine if they get a real contract... Boom!!!
