So you think someone from "XYZ Company" gives Yak an offer and its "take it or leave it?" You don't think Yak wants to get all he can for his lifelong dream Neurodex? These are complex negotiations. They aren't done over a cup of coffee or on the golf course. You got the scientists, the lawyers, and the accountants in on it. I'm sure it's not Yak alone. I'm not an insider but imagine Yak does the prelimianry talks and then they have the formal negotiations in the boardrooms ironing out every little nitty gritty. We are talking big bucks for both sides, especially AVN.
That's a good question you raise on whether they are using a consulting firm to help in the negotiations. Oh, if I were Yak I'd want to be at all the discussions - this is his life. Forget his responsibility as CEO to us -it's his money on the line. I got to believe he has lawyers and accountants in on the negotiations - just as they were writing up that proxy this year & last!
Lots of companies use outsiders for various jobs. Not at all uncommon for a Fortune 500 company to hire a Merrill Lynch or a Morgan Stanley to work on a merger for them. Doesn't mean it's an exclusive - the company insiders are still heavily involved - but the big broker plays a vital and significant role.
Is he using a professional consulting firm or someone real knowledgeable in the business to help negotiate? That would be a good idea! What about Orbimed? Maybe they are heavily involved! After all, they got 7.8 million shares!
You guys are all assuming because they aren't speaking up, that nothing is happening. I got to believe Orbimed would be screaming if that weren't true. Yak has a huge interest in this - he wants Neurodex to hit it big. I have to believe there are real serious negotiations going on and, if they are, he is not going to make any public comments until it's a done deal.
Games at big companies? I won't say whom I use to work for or what I did (I assure you it was not the bio world though) but I saw the biggest of games played at the highest of levels at a Fortune 50 company. When managers and directors are evaluated each year on a set of critical objectives, they got every incentive in the world to be as aggressive as possible and that means playing every trick in the book. I was even in a high level internal meeting once and things got a bit carried away on the aggressiveness planning side and the big boss finally stopped himself and told everyone, "We are real close to crossing the line between aggressive and illegal. We can't do this" [that guy didn't cross the line but others do ala Enron and Worldcom]. Games at big companies? Oh yeah! - Every single day!
Yes, I agree with you there are reasons for having some pro negotiators help out on this. I sure am hoping it is either Orbimed or some outside party they hired.
These would be excellent questions for Patrice.
It's ironic many shareholders here are now starting a new major round of skepticism
& paranioa in the final stretch of the Neurodex process. Seems like you guys will be feeding exactly into the institutions hands. They racked up 20-25%% of the company on such fears the past year and I'm pretty confident they are salivating at the opportunity to rack up another 25% now. You guys may just feed right into their hands.
I'm holding tight and would add more on dips if I had more funds available.
Have a g'day.

Of course, if one has read the last company report, they already knew this. Yesterday's webcast also alluded to it. This information however, will reach those who don't have the time to actually read the quarterly reports or listen to webcast and depend on quick analytical information. It should have a short term impact as far as the price of the stock going down to maybe $3.10. Then it should rebound back up a little.
IMO.

Sales is always the "bottom" line. If there are none, then the company and the stock are worthless. But, one must remember there are many important lines before the bottom line becomes a reality. They all have their degree of importance. Just ask any accountant and he/she can yap for an hour on each. But, one of the most important lines needed to get the "bottom" line to be a positive figure, is advertising. The old marketing phrase "Advertising pays" is still alive and well. One of the necessary forms of advertising is conventions. And, in the last ten years or so, they have become even bigger as more and more buyers and competitors attend them. Sorry be the manufacturer that doesn't attend them.

Billy, Billy, Billy. What would the lads have thought if I'd have put an LOL or two after the $3 prediction? They are a bit irritable as it is.
Would love to put up the bunch of ya; but, alas, it only has the five bedrooms. Three of which are full now. But, there are some very reasonable places at the sea spots. If you ever get to go, make sure it is for a month to make the cost worth the while. It runs 'bout $2,100 American dollars. And, go during our summer, which is now.
I hopes John does not not take us to task for this Australian chat. At least it isn't about the fishing. LOL.

Stinker???
Deeply offended. NOT.
Can't say I blame you.
But, I think back on one called AVN (not to spam in any way)when it was at $.21 and the boards were crying all over the place and wanting management to hang viciously. Well, now it is above $3 and they are still not happy and rehanging management. May we get to that plateau.
Believe it or not, I envision HPON having similar success. Who knows? Maybe even to the $3 range. Won't take any bets on that lads.
But, then, I do get into these "real" pennies just to play with them and hopefully make money on the short run with them.

I know the name of the game. I do however know the difference between selling and introducing. You accused the company of putting the cart before the horse, when in fact they had not, did they? And, now, when you are caught by the short hairs, you try to get cute. Shame.
If one knows as much as they think they do about a start-up business in any way, they know all to well that such a business often goes from convention to convention; but, not as you say, without selling. That is not their intention, is it? It is not unusal for a start-up firm to experience this non-selling period. They must, as all new businesses, struggle through this period. HPON only came into existence in 1999 and first traded its stock at the end of that year. It is still experiencing growing pains. Remember, going from convention to convention is a form of advertising that enhances what? SELLING!
HPON since the first of the year has put out about twelve press releases for their products. If you believe in the company you did your DD on, then you must to some extent believe these PRs will eventually come to fruition.
The company is trying very diligently to get its product out and to sell it. It appears they are on the right track. The deal with Wireless Xcessories Group will hopefully led to volume sales of their accessories. Later this month, 2/14 to 17, who knows what may come of the European GSM Trade Show? All of us are hoping that HOP-ON adds USPS as a customer, that would be huge. What will become of the shipments to Spain of their GSM Model 1806 handsets for their use as promotional products? And, finally, HPON will exhibit two CDMA2000 wireless handsets and its CDMA fixed wireless phone at EXPO COMM MEXICO 2005, which will run February 8 to 11, 2005 in Mexico City. Exposure is key to any product. The more it gets known, the better its chances are of being bought. Don't you agree?
Keep your childish name calling to yourself. Grow up.
Do have a g'day.
Aussie
mslayride...While I enjoy fishing and eating it, I don't really know much about the viability of it as a commercial enterprise. My guess is that you should have no trouble entering it. Sorry.

HOP-ON TO EXHIBIT TWO CDMA HANDSETS AS WELL AS A CDMA FIXED WIRELESS UNIT AT THIS WEEK'S EXPO COMM MEXICO
Irvine, CA, February 8, 2005 - Hop-on.com, Inc. (OTC: HPON) today announced that it will exhibit two CDMA2000 wireless handsets and its CDMA fixed wireless phone at EXPO COMM MEXICO 2005, which will run February 8 to 11, 2005 in Mexico City. The first handset is its CDMA Model 1906, a tri-mode phone that operates on the 800 MHz (AMPS & CDMA) and 1900 MHz (CDMA) frequencies. Its features include a large graphic LCD with a colored background, SMS messaging, 100 entry phone book, 90 location speed dial and a rechargeable lithium ion battery. Hop-on will also be exhibiting its Model 1905, a disposable version of the Model 1906 handset. This is Hop-on's lowest cost CDMA handset with the distinguishing characteristic of not having an LCD screen. Instead, Hop-on has built in an audio feedback feature when dialing numbers to ensure error free dialing. The audio feedback is available in any language and the phone has a rechargeable, lithium ion battery. Since there is no LCD screen, this handset is ideal for promotional applications because there is a sizeable area for advertising or co-branding and it can be programmed to playback a customized message along with the phone number. Hop-on phones are the lowest priced handsets available worldwide.
Hop-on will also be exhibiting its tri-mode CDMA 1X Fixed Wireless phone at the EXPO COMM MEXICO 2005. This phone utilizes Hop-on's 1X CDMA module and is similar in size to a traditional landline phone. However, since it is wireless, it is much easier to install and move because the subscriber can change the location of the installation at any time and it is convenient to use in areas where the installation of a landline phone wire is either difficult or not available. It utilizes CDMA 2000 1X technology, and is backward compatible with IS-95 A/B. Hop-on's fixed wireless phone features an AC adaptor input, back up battery (with 2 hours talk time and 72 hours standby time), two-way SMS and Broadcast SMS, dial tone, supports voice privacy, alarm clock and calendar display, hands free operation and has a dot matrix Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with 3 line text and one line Icon. This phone also has line feed and meter pulse generation capabilities available to convert to a wireless, fixed or portable pay phone.
EXPO COMM MEXICO 2005 is Mexico and Central America's only telecommunications, IT, wireless, networking, and internet technologies exhibition and conference covering all aspects of the telecom sector. For 14 years, EXPO COMM MEXICO is the place for the leading telecom and technology companies to showcase their latest and most successful innovations and solutions, including satellite technologies, IP-based tools, WiFi solutions, and 3G applications for mobile telephony and mobile portals (www.expocomm.com/mexico).

I am into several "real" penny stocks that are extremely volatile in nature and more than likely will either lose a little on them or they could have a decent little jump which in that event I will sell and enjoy.
However, with Avanir, it is a very different scenario. I keep buying more and more at every chance I get. I have on many occasions bought and sold the "real" pennies at a small gain to buy more AVN. FASC was one such stock that I bought low and when it went up, I sold it. Used the proceeds to buy AVN. Did it three different times. Just recently bought more of them in hopes of doing the same thing.
Another I should be able to play with that way is NCDP. Those kind of stocks are basically one product companies that may have a little increase and go nowhere but back down. Good to play with.
IMO.
Have a g'day.
