Clearly Bernard wins "by a nose" 8>)
Considering the massive prize money at stake I may have to demand a recount or three!
Maybe we want to add "without going over" to the mix?
Nah, leave it as is I am having too much fun anyway.

>>Do you listen to Rap Music?
Please refrain from using the word "rap" in conjunction with the word "music". The two are mutually exclusive. An oxymoron like "military intelligence" if you will. 8>)
Rap is simple poetry spoken over one of four distinct rythyms or a sample of someone else's musical composition. I have yet to discover a rapper that can understand the simple chord progressions that Rock musicians are so fond of. So please don't call rap, Music.
thank you.

You're right about that, if a pro can't do six out of ten he should play baseball where three out of tenn is all star material.
Great plan! It will certainly keep me involved. HAve a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow!
The Bird of Prey
hehehe
You could say that!
I've been busy with several things lately, spending a lot of my posting time with the new boards, some interesting stuff going on at Pirate Trading.
For tommorrow I expect not a whole lot from the market. The general consensus seems to be that Greenspan won't raise rates and that would be a plus for the market. Also the State of the Union should infuse some positivity into the country (and therefore the markets) as a whole. But this nervousness about accounting practices has a lot of folks wringing their hands trying to guess when (if) another Enron is coming.
As a result I expect they'll cancel each other out and leave a slightly positive bias for tommorrow.
Though it will be interesting to see what the FTSE does!

You are correct in valuing your system by the amount of profit it brings in. I disagree that anyone can do six out of ten and make real money at it.
When I am evaluating a system for potential purchase I use the following criteria
Winning percentage
Largest loss
Largest gain
Maximum draw
Total P/L
Your trades this week aren't a large enough sample yet, but the results are encouraging.
All trades based on 1000 shares with .01/share cost per trade
1/28
Long CHINA 2.32, exit 2.29, <0.03> -$50 Draw $2,330
SS GNSS @ 57.98, exit half @ 56.92, +1.06, exit half @ 57.50 +0.48 +$740 Draw $57,990
SS ISIL @ 30 exit @ 30 BE, -$20 Draw $30,010
SS QCOM 45.63, exit half @ 45.02 +0.61, exit half 45.06, +0.57 +$560 Draw $45,030

long VRSN @ 33.63, exit 33.60, <0.03> -$50 Draw $33,640
SS ISIL @ 33.00, exit @ 33, BE -$20 Draw $33,010
SS EXPE @ 54.15, exit 54.75, <0.60> -$620 Draw $54,160

SS VRTS @ 46.68, exit @ 45.93, +0.75 +$740 Draw $46,690
long GNSS @ 56.60, exit @ 56.19, +0.59 +$580 Draw $56,610
Win % 58.3
Largest Gain $1650
Largest Loss $620
Maximum Draw $58,300
Total P/L $4260
I typically trade longer term than the trades shown here and therefore look for a P/L that is 10% or more of the Max Draw. But in light of the short term nature of this system I find these numbers very intriguing.
Not as a total portfolio mind you but an integral part of a well diversified one.
Very Impressive indeed!
The Bird of Prey
Opponent?
I don't understand. I thought this board was about demonstrating the advantages of a good trading system. I am all for such an endeavor. No opposition on this front.
Or did I misunderstand?

BTW, I avoid the use of the term "expert"...especially with people like Poet, who are deserving of more respect than they usually get.

Granted 12 trades is a limited sampling.
But if you continue to "win" at a nearly 60% clip while keeping losses to a minimum you'll certainly have a great deal of "value" in your product!

If I may participate
How about PSFT April 35 puts (PQOPG) should be able to establish a position at ~$5.
The Bird of Prey
Very impressive. Your winning percentage is quite good.
I also like it that you are showing signs of following a very old bit of investing (among other things) advice. Namely "Don't Glean the Field". You take your winnings and move to the next play. Too often daytraders (and others) can get caught in a "Let it Ride" mindset, usually to their detriment.
Are you planning on marketing your system?
The Bird of Prey
Perhaps a bit of clarification on one question would be appropriate for one wanting to learn from your selection methodology.
In http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=259045
you said
>>I am watching ESRX ESGS EXPE ISIL HAIN ACTN GNSS ARTC QCOM VRTS VRSN QLGC BRCM PSFT CHKP
And during the morning you announced trades in GNSS EXPE VRTS ISIL and VRSN
What was it that caused you to execute trades in those issues? or what was it that caused you NOT to execute trades in the others?
The Bird of Prey
Thank you, that was enlightening.
The Bird of Prey
One question that gets asked repeatedly
in various ways.
Is the one that boils down to: "Is IH administrated fairly?"
I believe Bob has answered that question satisfactorily in the following:
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=16969798
Now the only question remaining would be is Bob the kind of person who can make a judgement like the above and expect it to believed.
I offer the following to support that he can be.
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=16976962
This does not mean that either Bob or Matt are perfect. They do seem to be genuinely interested in doing the right thing though.
The Bird of Prey
OK,
This morning you listed a number of issues on your watch list as candidates for trading. What was the difference between GNSS and PSFT that led you to trade GNSS and not trade PSFT? Or any other issue if you wish. Since I did not see a PSFT trade today I make the presumption that you did not trade it.
Am I correct in stating that the goal of your system is to establish trades with a potential 1-2% gain in the course of a trading morning? Do you hold positions overnight?

Ok, I'll bite.
TA is an awfully broad base for a topic and you're request makes no real attempt to narrow things down. You want a "generalized" discussion of indicators without revealing your proprietary trading strategies. Fair enough. I can certainly understand not wanting to share that information since the more widespread that knowledge the less effective the strategy will be (typically).
I do agree with the comment that TA involves more than "throwing a few indicators together". IMO it is more art than science.
So I'll get things started.
Trading based on chart patterns (triangles, cup & handle, Head & shoulders etc.)...valid? or invalid?

Maybe, maybe not.
If all you got was a 2% premium each month and spent it instend of reinvesting the income you'd have a 24% annual return. Beats the heck out out of CD's! Even at 1%/Month you'd sttil be ahead of the historical market average.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

You must be one of those users Bob was talking about that have an unfavorable opinion of IH.
If you call allowing someone to "police" their own board "protecting" them, I guess IH would have to plead guilty.
As for your ridiculous assertions that IH staff are frontloading any users picks I'll let Bob and Matt decide what part of hell they'd like to send you to.
>>until Ihub allows a free forum to discuss every guru freely
It's already here. You can PM all your friends about what a (insert expletive here) (insert guru's ID here) is, as often as you wish. You are also allowed to start a competing "picks" thread where you may feel free to "pan" any pick by any guru you feel is warranting a "pan".
What you can't do is post a personal attack calling guru x a (insert expletive here) on any board, most certainly the board of the guru you wish to insult.
At IH we believe in a more enlightened approach. Beat them at their own game. Publish better picks, publish their failures and let the records speak for themselves.
Nothing fraudulent about that.

If you had bothered reading the thread header you'd have noticed (as I pointed out earlier) that 'picking on' inmates is acceptable. I was picking on an inmate per the header. How I choose to do so is my own affair. If it sounds to much like what Matt would say, I'll take that as a compliment.
I also noticed you chose to include profanity in your opening shot. And as is typical of the profane you show yourself equally unimaginative in your use of invective as all the others that chose profanity as a means of stressing their point. As I have stated before, those that *argue* in this fashion hold no interest for me.

The Bird of Prey
GP,
Good points all, except I was a straight "A" student and never in trouble with the law. I did not do a stint in the military, though sometimes I wish I had.
I agree that for kids already "heading down the wrong path" 6-8 weeks without follow up would be a waste of time. This program however would encompass all , not just inner city kids or troubled teens. For an awful lot of boys it would be the only chance they get to learn a little about what it means to be a man. For others they might pick up some pointers on Self discipline.
No, it probably won't do much for the hardcore gangbanger that is already indoctrinated in the ways of violence. But it might show an alternative toi the kid that thinks he has no other options.
SOme of these kids will do their own follow up programs, go on to college, tech schools or a real stint in the Army.
This would not be the solution to all of the problems plaguing our society today, but it would go a long way towards making things better.
After all, at least they would know the difference between the right way and the wrong way. Too many kids today have no clue.
The Bird of Prey
onebgg,
Caught a story on the news last night that a bill is circulating the house that would make 6 weeks of basic training (boot camp) in one of the armed services mandatory for all males 18-21. Concientious objectors would only be exempt from the weapons/military tactics portions. Women would be allowed but for them it would not be mandatory.
Unfortunately the bills sponser does not expect it to make it through both houses of Congress.
It's a shame because that might go a long way to solving a vast number of problems. From gang violence to national security.
The Bird of Prey

Feeling put upon? Seems like I'm not listening to what you have to say? All I want to do is bust your chops? You want to call it harrassment but can't because that would be admitting you harrassed jenna?
This is why Matt created the Jail. To offer an opportunity for the offender (you in this case) to learn what it was that he did wrong and benefit from that experience.
Whether it will work in your case remains to be seen. Have a nice weekend.
I'm out.
The Bird of Prey
Given that we didn't break 9900 now *might* be a good time to open an ATM put position. it also might not but you can decide for yourself.
The Bird of Prey
Well shut my mouth! Here I went by what you posted HERE when I should have ben reading your mind and followed you over to some other board on another site.
You posted a compilation HERE nothing real time posted HERE.
In case you haven't picked up on this yet...
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS ON IH!
I am certain that Bob and Matt would appreciate your moving your real time picks thread and it's traffic here to IH.
I couldn't care less whether your picks are better or worse than jenna's. She makes picks her way, you make picks your way. As long as whomever listens to either of you makes money who cares HOW the picks get made. You give yours away, she gives some away and sells some. So what!
You get some right and you get some wrong, so does she. And who cares? Besides you and a select few of course.
There are a lot of successful systems out there. If you are making money be happy with that. If you have to destroy someone else in order to feel successful, then I pity you. why should you care how jenna makes her calls or how she presents them. If she has dissatisfied customers complaining that's one thing, but you appear to be a competitor. And your rant sounds more like Apple or Netscape or Sun crying FOUL! everytime Microsoft goes to the restroom.
I did not request you publish the size of your transactions, I didn't even ask that you publish your confirmations. It was merely a suggestion of how to overcome doubters. Believe it or not, not everyone takes what you have to say at face value. BTW, it would be acceptable to blur out the actual size of a transaction. Only the information concerning the date/time and share price are relevant.
I hope you relax and have a good weekend, you are way to uptight about this jenna business. As Matt might say...
Chill out, Dood!
The Bird of Prey
I see why you're called "shorty" now. But it does look like pretty successful trading for you. But, doesn't "real time" mean as it happens? Not what *was* accomplished on Thursday...or Monday for that matter. Unless you scan or otherwise show your actual trade confirmations from the broker we only have your word that these were your actual trades. I am not saying that your are misrepresenting the facts here. I do believe you are telling the truth. But this *is* the internet, where anyone can be what they want to be. Would you accept a similar list from jenna? or any other guru?
BTW, lest you take any of my commentary too personally I'll C&P from the Jailhouse Ibox to clarify...
This thread is designed to allow those members who get suspended a place to talk. Or get picked on.
The Bird of Prey
No problems with Verisign.
As for monthly charges though you might want to consider this...
Every transaction has a set fee plus a percentage. Charges under ten bucks end up with a rather large percentage of the charge going to the processor intead of the store (IH). as alternatives consider a quarterly charge and the annual charge.
This will also simplfy accounting procedures. Fewer transactions to deal with. Especially if you go the automatic route.
The Bird of Prey
I agree with the 9900 as resistance. It is confirmed by the C&H pattern as well as last weeks support. I don't have an opinion on whether or not it will break above the 40 or 50 day EMA. I use 30 and 200 day myself. Though I will say this, I would consider a close above 9900 to be very bullish and if Monday continued we would have a breakout. Nothing I see gives a reasonable expectation of that though. Moreover a failure to break above 9900 would reinforce the downward trend. Remember the trend is your friend. Trade with it not against it.
The Bird of Prey
>>There is no real interest here in resource sector stocks.
So far that is correct. The interest in Big board issues is behind as well but is showing signs of improvement. Perhaps at some point there will be enough interest in the resource sector here as well. Think positive!
Question...Is the resource sector concerned only with issues mining base metals? or does it also encompass other issues like gas or oil drilling?
BTW, I wasn't invested in Enron. And weren't they doing some kind of manipulation of energy resources like coal, gas, oil etc. Coal is still mined isn't it?
Poet did confirm, but she knows you better than I do and by your original statement she was involved in the thread. Without that specific knowledge your use was lacking clarification. But that isn't important. Tell me more about the resource sector, Poet says you are well versed in the subject, I am always interested in expanding my own knowledge base. I'll look over at the board Poet referenced for your reply.

Funny you bring up raising children. Shorty's rant reminded me of my children's early years tugging at what ever appendage they could reach repeating the same thought over and over until they got a satisfactory answer or got the message that the answer was no. I guess Shorty can't figure out the answer must be no.
On the other hand you remind me of my kids when they were preteenagers and through their early teenage years, who thought they could outsmart dear old dad and manipulate him as they wished. They know better now.
you did bring up something that interests me though...
>>In fact, I tried to help Poet and marcos fire up a resource thread here, but with little success. Active posters elsewhere have offered reasons why. C'est la vie.
What kind of resource thread? Poet seems to be doing fine currently with the options box and her corner threads, what were the "reasons" given for the "lack of success". I'll be happy to offer my own since Poet seems to be succeeding well enough when unencumbered by your and/or marcos's assistance.
