Joe. No the housing industry won't CRASH if you don't drive out the farmers. You remind me of the city slickers who moved out near me who bitch about cougars or bears in their gated neighborhood. Sick people. The microsoft yahoos and others come out here and build their mansions and displace the wildlife along with the farmer and they have the nerve to bitch about animals in their yard!
Growth is necessary I agree. But there is MUCH better ways of dealing with it then the present ways going on now. Common sense goes a long ways!
When you get rid of the Farmer you are KILLING America slowly but surely!
God Bless America!
Excel
Joe. Do you REALLY believe what you said?
The farmer is the backbone of America!
What do you plan on eating?
Got milk?
Not for long you won't. There use to be 16 dairies here in the valley. Now there are three due to money hungry SLIMEBALLS!
And the city slime officials that continue to allow growth beyond what it can handle should be put in jail as they receive their kickbacks!
I talked to a farmer about two years ago who told me this story. The Seattle city council was coming out to his farm to talk to him about the new STUPID laws they wanted him to put up with.
He watches the city slickers get out of the car.
He told me he knew right then and there when the lady got out with high heels on that it was one big waste of time.
He said they couldn't understand why he was laughing so hard. It is funny in one moment to hear that story. But VERY sad in the next moment when you think about it!

More about Hytek from website. Look at how fast they can be for prototype turnaround. This fits EXACTLY into what NV needs with tweaking of testing.
Hytek Services was founded
in 1993 with a goal of providing the most flexible and responsive PCB layout and contract manufacturing service for new product development in California.
Today's hardware OEMs shoulder a great deal of pressure, with the driving forces of improved time-to-market, quality, and reduced development costs. These factors, coupled with increased design complexity and shorter product life cycles, has placed significant stress on today's design team. And it's common these days to see prototype turnaround times of 24-48 to meet compressed schedules, and make up for design delays.
Hytek offers turnkey Contract Manufacturing solutions, assuming all responsibilities from Concept through Prototype, and into Production.
In parallel with our design and manufacturing capabilities, Hytek has evolved into the world's largest Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software reseller for printed circuit-board design. Hytek's relationship with PADS Software, Viewlogic, HyperLynx, and the merged company, Innoveda, allows us to offer the most comprehensive tool suite in circuit-board design and manufacturing. Products include PADS Software's PowerPCB™ (now Innoveda) PCB design solution, Viewlogic's ViewDraw™ for schematic capture, Viewlogic's XTK™ and HyperLynx's LineSim™, BoardSim™ and HyperSuite™ tools for signal integrity, crosstalk, and EMI analysis, as well as Advanced CAM Technology's CAM350™ for pre-fabrication analysis, and Precience's PCB Navigator™ tool.
Hytek's renowned training and technical support department has developed quite a reputation in the industry, enabling our customers to get up and running on new software products quickly, and responsively solving difficult design problems.
Hytek Services continues to respond to today's market conditions—demanding tighter design tolerances, increased quality, tighter turnaround, and increasingly competitive prices. It is for this environment that Hytek Services exists.
If you can dream it, we can design and build it.

Oil Reserve Declared 100 Percent Ready
NewsMax.com Wires
Tuesday Oct. 2, 2001
HOUSTON -- A Texas congressman toured one of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve sites Monday and declared it 100 percent ready to supply oil in a national emergency.
Rep. Joe Barton, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality, visited the Big Hill Storage Facility with two other Texas Republican congressmen, John Culberson and Kevin Brady. They were concerned about energy security in light of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
"The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is the most significant asset we have against severe supply disruption, which is a real possibility as we move toward conflict in the Middle East," Barton said at a news conference in Houston.
"I am very pleased to announce that the Big Hill Storage Facility of the SPR is at 100 percent readiness."
Although there is a 15-day notice requirement for withdrawal by President Bush, Barton said the Big Hill site is capable of performing an immediate emergency draw down.
"Those onsite are very aware of their potentiality as a target of terrorism, and are very alert to their responsibility to protect the facility," Barton said. "After my visit there today, I am comfortable that, although still vulnerable to the possibility of an air attack, they are prepared for any attempt to penetrate the site through a ground-based stealth attack."
The oil is stored in huge underground salt caverns at four sites along the Gulf Coast in Texas and Louisiana. Decisions to withdraw crude oil from the reserve during an energy emergency are made by the president under the authority of the Energy and Conservation Act.
Security is not only critical at the sites, Barton said, but also the oil supply must be kept at full capacity and he said legislation would be introduced this week to carry out that goal.
President Ford signed the legislation creating SPR in 1975 after the 1973-1974 oil embargo that cutoff oil flowing to the United States from many Arab nations. The oil shortage sent economic shockwaves throughout the nation and sparked the call for the petroleum reserve.
Since then, the SPR has been used in an emergency only once, during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. More than 540 million barrels of crude oil is currently stored in the reserve's caverns, which have a capacity of about 700 million barrels, according to SPR figures.

Hi Archie. Below is a chart link and a letter to shareholders that came out with a half an hour to go in trading on Friday. We are expecting big news this week as the pre-volume shows and my own DD.
Think it is more then worth a look. I suggest looking at this long term though. Yes, you will be able to make quick $$$ imo. But go to newvisual.com and read the PRs. You can see that in the last 6 months they have been putting the team together and now are ready to talk as they are starting a road show for shareholders and brokers this Friday.
http://www.clearstation.com/cgi-bin/intra?Symbol=nvei&Refer=http://clearstation.com/Dear Fellow Shareholders:
Your management is tremendously excited about the future of your company. In an
effort to share this excitement with you, our loyal shareholders, I am pleased
to present the first in a series of letters to shareholders that we intend to
make available on our website. We appreciate your support and hope you find
informative this brief glimpse into the future of New Visual Corporation.
Recent tragic events, combined with the strains of economic change, have created
an era of uncertainty in the eyes of many companies, consumers, investors, and
our financial markets as a whole. Obviously, we are not immune to the effects of
these events, but we are committed to carrying out our mission with the same
vigor and resolve. Ironically, though our market valuation does not currently
reflect this perception, we believe we are a stronger company today, with
brighter prospects, than we have been at any time in our history.
In the following discussion, I have tried to explain how developments you may
have read about in recent headlines regarding our progress are coming together
to help us achieve our goals and enhance shareholder value. Our company's
history includes an unusual transition of emphasis from an entertainment and
marketing company specializing in content development to a technology company
specializing in high-speed transmission over copper wire. Both branches of our
company are beginning to bear fruit. We look forward to completing our legacy
film project and launching a new breed of last mile technologies.
UPDATES - A PROGRESS REPORT
NV TECHNOLOGY
-------------
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT - Our development team leaders consist of: MIT alumni Dr.
Michael Propp and his brother Dr. David Propp of Adaptive Networks; Dr. David
Greaves of Cambridge University, who also manages our Cambridge studentship with
mathematics protege Roberto Fernandez; Bruce McLeod (DSP expert); Dave DeFord
(Analog expert); Dr. Kenneth Rubinson; and C. Rich Wilson. Bruce McLeod and Dave
DeFord continue to operate from our new lab facility in Pleasanton, California.
We have been holding technical conferences on a weekly basis to critique and
monitor the progress of our high bit rate, extended range copper wire
transmission technology. Our initial testing and development has produced
successful and promising results and has allowed the opportunity for more
theoretical development and system level design. We are in discussions with a
large, aggressive US carrier regarding field trials, which we believe we are
still on track to conduct between the 1st and 2nd calendar quarters of next
year.
<PAGE>
We have also been doing a great deal of research and simulation/modeling with a
focus on noise, the single most prohibitive factor for transmitting high-speed
data over copper wire. In this context, Dr. Michael Propp has made significant
contributions. His 18 years experience in developing high speed power line
technology provides a great deal of insight as to how to characterize and manage
"noisy" transmission environments with dynamic efficiency.
MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - We continue to communicate with the carriers
(phone companies) on a number of fronts. At this stage, we are acutely
interested in building technology that provides the greatest value to them by
meeting their needs on multiple levels. In an effort to do that, we have been
participating with the carriers in an exchange of information relating to their
network topology, desired deployment speed and range, acceptable power levels,
spectral management, and various other items. These are all critical elements of
an intelligent and successful design.
We have also been approached by a number of well-known equipment vendors eager
to learn more about our broadband transmission technology and discuss the
potential of collaborating to incorporate the technology into multiple
platforms. In advance of carrier trials, we anticipate further discussions with
multiple equipment vendors regarding strategic alliances that would include
compatibility testing for interoperability.
These dramatic improvements in our technology and relationships we are forging
with potential customers and partners are bringing us much closer to realizing
the potential of our exciting technology.
NV ENTERTAINMENT
----------------
NV Entertainment, in conjunction with Top Secret Productions, Award winning
director Bruce Brown, Dana Brown, and John-Paul Beeghly, is nearing completion
of the filming of a movie with the working title of LIQUID. Produced by the team
that produced THE ENDLESS SUMMER and ENDLESS SUMMER 2, LIQUID documents the
world of surfing in the first years of the new millennium. Filmed in Costa Rica,
Hawaii, Western Australia, Wisconsin, Vietnam, Santa Cruz, Half Moon Bay, Texas,
Easter Island, Cortez Banks, Tahiti, Ireland and Southern California, LIQUID
captures the unique and untold stories of more than 50 surfers around the globe.
Limited exposure of footage and clips of the film have already produced a
resoundingly positive response from industry professionals and ENDLESS SUMMER
fans. A teaser clip of the film may be viewed on our website at
http://www.newvisual.com/nve/films/.
Filming of the movie is 90 percent complete, and is wrapping up on time and on
budget with an anticipated release date of summer 2002. The film also has
received interest from potential corporate sponsors. With the legendary (if not
cult-like) following and extraordinary financial prowess of its predecessor
films made by the Browns, we expect LIQUID to generate box-office buzz on a
multinational scale. As this engaging film approaches completion this winter,
early next year and the summer of 2002 promise to be historic and exciting times
for the Company.
<PAGE>
HOW WE WILL INFLUENCE CHANGE - Whether or not the hype surrounding the
"convergence" of voice, video, and data on ANY medium actually rings true from a
business model perspective remains to be seen. Likewise, whether or not that
truly "killer" application emerges in the near term that will ignite broadband
demand is unclear - but we can be certain, more IS better. There are many
indicators that certain markets will support these developments and clearly next
generation technologies, such as MPEG compression, along with our transmission
technology, will make the targets more easy to reach.
As we have explained, however, our introductory product is targeted for the
business class broadband consumer and the telephone companies who serve them. We
will be helping the phone companies, which own the copper telephone wire in the
streets, increase the value of their existing assets by effectively increasing
capacity and, therefore, their ability to provide more services and increase
revenue. In practical terms, it means that we will be providing technology that
will allow for videoconferencing or data sharing over the twisted pair with the
relative deployment ease of common narrowband transmission technologies such as
DSL. Trends resulting from the economic and political landscape are adding
considerable value to this proposition, as companies seek to reduce the costs of
doing business. And that is only the beginning.
STRENGTHS - Recently added resources provide management with tools of guidance,
vision, and stability.
o We have invested in and developed leading edge transmission
technology, as well as a unique film property, both of which are being
developed by experienced professionals with a history of success.
o We have added world-class scientific leadership to our technology
development team in advisors Dr. Michael Propp, Dr. David Greaves, Dr.
Kenneth Rubinson, and Dr. Henry Beck.
o We have forged relationships with leading US telephone companies that
are already paying dividends in the form of design intelligence.
o We have secured collaborative development partners that are helping to
strengthen our team and focus our efforts.
o We have begun business development in European markets with investment
banks, telephone companies, and industry partners.
o We are in late stage negotiations with potential merger/acquisition
candidates that will expedite our time to market, improve our
financial standing, and increase shareholders equity.
<PAGE>
o We have reduced our overhead, which enables us to accommodate current
economic pressures.
CHALLENGES - Like any company at any stage, we face challenges to achieving our
goals. We are, however, dedicated to meeting and overcoming those challenges
with intellectual resources, strong resolve and commitment.
o Market conditions challenge our ability to raise capital and acquire
other business interests; therefore, we need to enforce efficiency and
productivity as our resources become even more precious.
o The window of opportunity for our technology is not evergreen;
therefore, we need to do everything in our power to complete and
market the technology as rapidly as possible.
OUR "CONVERGENCE" - For those of us with the honor to be working for you at New
Visual, every day is exciting as we continue to build momentum and check off
successive items of our plan.
With the film release anticipated for summer of 2002, we will undoubtedly begin
to build awareness in the coming months that will whet the appetite of its
consumers, potential distribution partners, and corporate sponsors. Similarly,
as we near field trial testing with our broadband technology next year, we will
prepare ourselves for the exposure associated with a technological breakthrough.
I am sure you all have felt the pains of market declines in general, and our
stock in particular. Combine those factors with the tragic events of September
11th and ensuing economic ripples, and it becomes easy to understand why so many
government officials and commerce leaders in America are echoing a resolve and
commitment to stay the course and to prosper. We are no different - we remain
resolute in our mission and commitment to making New Visual Corporation a
success and increasing shareholder value.
Today, however, I also have to feel that the economic pressures and downward
market trends have created enormous opportunities, particularly for those with
vision. We are committed to becoming one of those opportunities. We are
committed to carrying out our vision. We are committed to you.
God Bless America!
Excel
These four points below is very important. I believe at the shareholder meetings upcoming you may learn more details about these. Though all four are important I like 3 and 4 the best!
o We have forged relationships with leading US telephone companies that
are already paying dividends in the form of design intelligence.
o We have secured collaborative development partners that are helping to
strengthen our team and focus our efforts.
o We have begun business development in European markets with investment
banks, telephone companies, and industry partners.

<PAGE>
o We have reduced our overhead, which enables us to accommodate current
economic pressures.
CHALLENGES - Like any company at any stage, we face challenges to achieving our
goals. We are, however, dedicated to meeting and overcoming those challenges
with intellectual resources, strong resolve and commitment.
o Market conditions challenge our ability to raise capital and acquire
other business interests; therefore, we need to enforce efficiency and
productivity as our resources become even more precious.
o The window of opportunity for our technology is not evergreen;
therefore, we need to do everything in our power to complete and
market the technology as rapidly as possible.

The Weight of the World, the Responsibility of a Generation
Published: 9/15/2001 Author: Larry Schweikart
This was the same man who came within a hair's breadth of losing an
election in November, who withstood the political chicanery of the Florida
Democratic machine to fix the vote count.
This was the same man who admitted to having a drinking problem in
younger years, and whose happy-go-lucky life style led him to mediocre grades
in college and an ill-fated oil venture.
This was the same man who mangled syntax even more than his father, and
whose speaking missteps became known as "Bushisms."
And on Friday, this was the man who bore the weight of the world and the
responsibilities of a generation with dignity, class, confidence, appropriate
solemnity, and even much-needed wit.
One thing struck me during the campaign, that difficult, roller-coaster
campaign that now seems years ago. It was that George W. Bush never seemed to
get ruffled. Whether the theft of a campaign debate video or the sudden (some
would say, vicious) release of a DUI arrest two decades ago at a key moment,
"W" did not lose his cool.
At times, his staff seemed overconfident, as did many of us. A
350-electoral-vote win, they quietly implied and we optimistically believed.
Then they counted the votes, miscounted others, and re-counted still others.
At the end, he was still there. Whereas Al Gore almost frantically huffed and
puffed, trying to gin up something out of nothing, Bush quietly but
confidently waited at his ranch. He didn't do nothing: that is the mistake
people have constantly made with this man, confusing lack of bluster for
absence of action. No, his team of attorneys and the iron-willed James Baker
were carrying out his orders, but W stayed in the background, confident and
faithful.
You see, it is this faith business that confounded everyone. We have had
such actors and liars in public office that we have looked skeptically
whenever anyone used the term faith.
But this was the same man who was the first politician ever in recent
memory to name Jesus Christ as the lord of his life on public TV. Not an
oblique reference to being "born-again" or having a "life change." He said
the un-PC-like phrase, "Jesus Christ," to which his handlers and advisors, no
doubt, off stage, were also saying, "Jesus Christ" in a much different tone.
God has a way of honoring those who honor him. David learned that while
he was on the run from Saul's armies. Job learned that after his time of
horrible tribulation. The Messiah said so Himself, many times.
So this was the man who actually put faith into practice. He actually
loves those who hate him. It is a staggering concept, so foreign in daily
occurrence that few thought it anything but grandstanding. Even one of W's
biggest supporters chided the president for adhering to his "new tone."
Yet there he was, again and again, thanking the Democrats. Appointing his
enemies to high places in his government. Inviting his former foes and their
wives to private movie screenings, and (I know, this is hard to stomach) even
treating them with dignity. See, this was the man who learned early on how
faith worked: by praying for his enemies, you "heap burning coals upon their
heads." Happen to catch Bill Clinton at the National Prayer Service? Didn't
look too good, did he?
This was the man who named the absolute top people in national security
and defense, then caught barbs from the politically righteous that this one
didn't have the right views on abortion or that one didn't have the right
position on guns.
And on September 11, at midmorning, this was the man thrust into a
position only known by Roosevelt, Churchill, Lincoln, and Washington. The
weight of the world was on his shoulders, and the responsibility of a
generation was on his soul.
So this same man--the one that the media repeatedly attempted to tarnish
with charges of "illegitimacy," and the one whose political opponents
desperately sought to stonewall until mid-term elections--walked to his seat
at the front of the National Cathedral just three days after the two most
impressive symbols of American capitalism and prosperity virtually
evaporated, along with, perhaps, thousands of Americans.
As he sat down next to his wife, immediately I knew that even if his
faith ever faltered, hers didn't. I have never seen a more peaceful face than
Laura Bush, whose eyes seemed as though they were already gazing at the final
outcome . . . not just of this conflict, but of her reward in Heaven itself.
In this marriage, you indeed got two for the price of one.
The appropriate songs were sung, as one said, to in an almost unbearably
emotional service. I, for one, broke down innumerable times merely listening
on tape delay on the radio. How the man spoke without blubbering, I'll never
know.
Then came the defining moment of our generation. Some people fondly
recall their Woodstock days. Others mark with grim sadness November 22, 1963,
as the day America lost her innocence. But I firmly believe when the history
of this time is written, it will be acknowledged by friend and foe alike that
President George W. Bush came of age in that cathedral and lifted a nation
off its knees.
It wasn't so much his words, though read a decade later, they will indeed
be as stirring as any. The conflict would end, he noted, "At a time of our
choosing." It certainly wasn't his emotion. What had to have been one of the
most stunning exhibitions of self-control in presidential history, W was able
to deliver his remarks without losing either his resolve or his focus, or,
more important, his confidence. It was as if God's hand, which had guided him
through that sliver-thin election, now rested fully on him. His quiet
confidence let our enemies know . . . and believe me, they know that they
made a grave miscalculation.
Now, this same man who practiced his faith through a tough election, who
steeled his convictions even more in a drawn-out Florida battle, and who
never once gave in to the temptation to get in the gutter with his foes
(well, OK, maybe the "Clymer" comment is an exception), this same man now
lifted the weight of the world and the responsibility of a generation and put
it on his modest shoulders as though it were another unpleasant duty.
As he walked back to his seat, the camera angle was appropriate. He was
virtually alone in the scene, alone in that massive place of God, just him
and the Lord. But that's the way it's always been in his life recently. In
that brief time it took him to return to his seat, I believe he heard words
to the effect of, "You can do this, George. I am with you always. And you can
do this well, because I am going before you. And don't worry about the
weight. I've got it." And I saw in his eyes a quiet acknowledgment. "I know.
Thank you, Lord."
Back at his seat, when W sat down, George H. W. Bush reached over and
took his son's hand. The elder Bush always struck me as a religious man, but
not someone who shared his life on a daily basis with the Lord. George H. W.
treats the Father like a respected uncle, visiting him on appropriate
holidays and knowing the relationship is real, but not constant.
Anyway, I believe that in that fatherly squeeze George H. W. said, "I wish
I could do this for you, son, but I can't. You have to do this on your own."
W squeezed back and gave him that look of peace that Laura had kept
throughout. It said, "I don't have to do it alone, dad. I've got help."

War will begin within days
By George Jones and Anton La Guardia
(Filed: 26/09/2001)
TONY BLAIR cleared the way yesterday for military strikes against Afghanistan within days by declaring that the Taliban would become an enemy in the battle against terrorism unless they handed over Osama bin Laden.
Tony Blair: the Taliban is a regime 'founded on fear and funded by drugs and crime'
Standing in the Downing Street garden, he said that America and its allies had the power to do "very considerable damage" to the Taliban. "Military conflict there will be unless the Taliban change and respond to the ultimatum given to them," said Mr Blair.
As diplomats said that military action was likely to begin "within a week", Downing Street announced that Parliament would be recalled for one day on Thursday of next week. Political leaders had already indicated that MPs should be brought back only after action had started.
Mr Blair's ultimatum, delivered 24 hours after he briefed Iain Duncan Smith, the Conservative leader, and senior parliamentarians, was seen as preparing British and international opinion for hostilities.
The Taliban were further isolated yesterday when Saudi Arabia severed all relations with the regime. Last night, a Saudi official said that Afghan diplomats had been given 48 hours to leave the country.
This leaves only Pakistan maintaining diplomatic links with Kabul since the United Arab Emirates cut ties at the weekend. President Bush, whom Mr Blair visited last week and vowed to stand "shoulder to shoulder" with in the fight against terrorism, praised the Saudis' "wise step".
Only President Musharraf of Pakistan, the traditional backer of the Taliban, said that his country would maintain contact because "at least there should be one country who ought to be able to have an access to them".
In a message to the American people, the Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, stepped up his defiance. He said the attacks on New York and Washington were to avenge US "cruelty" towards Muslim countries.
"The American people must know that the sad events that took place recently were the result of their government's wrong policies. Your government is perpetrating all sorts of atrocities in Muslim countries. Instead of supporting your government's policies you should urge your government to reconsider their wrong and cruel policies."
He added, without claiming to know who was responsible: "The recent sad event in America was the result of these cruel policies and was meant to avenge this cruelty."
Mr Blair said the Taliban knew what it had to do. If it stood in the way of bringing bin Laden to account, it would be "every bit our enemy" as bin Laden himself. "Our enemy's friend becomes our enemy too," he said in his strongest warning yet that the Taliban would be toppled unless it agreed to hand over bin Laden.
He described the Taliban as a regime "founded on fear and funded largely by drugs and crime" where poverty and illness were endemic and women's rights "non-existent".
Mr Blair emphasised the unity of the coalition lined up against Afghanistan. He said military action would be directed at the Taliban and not at the ordinary people of Afghanistan and promised that Britain would help efforts to deliver food to Afghan refugees to avert a winter crisis.
The Prime Minister called his unscheduled press conference after a day of non-stop diplomacy aimed at securing international and domestic political backing for military action. The most significant breakthrough came late on Monday with President Putin's announcement that Russia would share intelligence with the West and help the opposition Northern Alliance in northern Afghanistan.
In a historic address to the Bundestag in Berlin, Mr Putin yesterday sought to capitalise on his gesture by calling on the West to welcome Russia back to the diplomatic top table.
Mr Blair did not state when the ultimatum to the Taliban would run out nor does the Government expect a positive response. But it was meant to increase the pressure on the regime and provide justification for America and Britain to take military action.
"We have the power to do very considerable damage to the Taliban regime, and any action we take will be directed towards the regime, and not the ordinary people of Afghanistan," he said.
As the world lined up behind the coalition, Abdul Sattar, Pakistan's foreign minister, warned against governments giving military aid to the Taliban's Northern Alliance opponents. He said: "We must not make the blunder of trying to foist a government on the people of Afghanistan."
His comments were seen as reflecting concern in Pakistan that Iran, an old enemy of the Taliban, might, after yesterday's visit by Jack Straw, have a greater say in the future of Islamabad's old client state.
Recognising the delicacy of Gen Musharraf's position, Mr Bush did not call on Pakistan to follow Saudi Arabia's lead and instructed his officials to moderate previous talk about overthrowing the Taliban.
The president said he wanted to "make sure that Pakistan is a stable country and that whatever consequences may occur as a result of actions we may or may not take, is one that we do the best we can to manage".
He called on Afghan citizens disenchanted with Taliban rule to help the US pursue bin Laden but added that he was not interested in "nation-building" or supplanting regimes. "We're focused on justice and we're going to get justice. It's going to take a while probably but I'm a patient man. Nothing will diminish my will and my determination."
The Prime Minister attempted to calm concerns that terrorists might be planning biological or chemical weapons attacks on Britain after the head of the World Health Organisation warned governments to prepare for possible attacks. He said there was no specific threat and it was important not to be "alarmist" about such possibilities.
Labour confirmed that its annual conference in Brighton next week would be cut short, finishing on Wednesday to enable MPs to return to Westminster. Mr Duncan Smith reaffirmed his "full backing" for the Government's support for America's efforts to bring the perpetrators of the World Trade Centre and Pentagon atrocities to justice. "They were attacks we simply cannot allow to go unpunished," he said.

~~Science Verses God~~
Professing to be wise, they became fools...
Let me explain the problem science has with Jesus Christ. The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.
You're a Christian, aren't you, son?
Yes, sir.
So you believe in God?
Absolutely.
Is God good?
Sure! God's good.
Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?
Yes.
Are you good or evil?
The Bible says I'm evil.
The professor grins knowingly. Ahh! THE BIBLE! He considers for a moment. "Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help them? Would you try?"
Yes sir, I would.
So you're good.
I wouldn't say that.
Why not say that? You would help a sick and maimed person if you could...in fact most of us would if we could...God doesn't.
(No answer)
He doesn't, does He. My brother was a Christian who died of cancer even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?
(No answer)
The elderly man is spmpathetic. No, you can't, can you? He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. In philosophy, you have to go easy with the new ones. Let's start again, young fellow. Is God good?
Er...Yes.
Is Satan good?
No.
Where does Satan come from? The student falters. From... God...
That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? The elderly man runs his bony fingers through his thinning hair and turns to the smirking, student audience. I think we're going to have a lot of fun this semester, ladies and gentlemen. He turns back to the Christian. Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?
Yes, sir.
Evil's everywhere, isn't it? Did God make everything?
Yes.
Who created evil?
(No answer)
Is there sickness in this world? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All the terrible things--do they exist in this world?
The student squirms on his feet. Yes.
Who created them?
(No answer)
The professor suddenly shouts at his student. WHO CREATED THEM? TELL ME, PLEASE! The professor closes in for the kill and climbs into the Christian's face. In a still small voice: "God created all evil, didn't He, son?
(No answer)
The student tries to hold the steady, experienced gaze and fails. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace the front of the classroom like an aging panther. The class is mesmerized. Tell me, he continues, How is it that this God is good if He created all evil throughout all time? The professor swishes his arms around to encompass the wickedness of the world. All the hatred, the brutality, all the pain, all the torture, all the death and ugliness and all the suffering created by this good God is all over the world, isn't it young man? (No answer) Don't you see it all over the place? Huh? Pause. Don't you?
The professor leans into the student's face again and whispers, Is God good?
(No answer)
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?
The student's voice betrays him and cracks. Yes, professor. I do.
The old man shakes his head sadly. Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you seen Him?
No, sir. I've never seen Him.
Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?
No, sir. I have not.
Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelled your Jesus...in fact, do you have any sensory perception of your God whatsoever?
(No answer)
Answer me please.
No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
You're AFRAID...you haven't?
No, sir.
Yet you still believe in Him?
...yes...
That takes FAITH! The professor smiles sagely at the underling. According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son? Where is your God now?
The student doesn't answer.
Sit down, please.
The Christian sits... Defeated
Another Christian raises his hand. Professor, may I address the class?
The professor turns and smiles. Ah, another Christian in the vanguard! Come, come young man. Speak some proper wisdom to the gathering. The Christian looks around the room. Some interesting points you are making, sir. Now I've got a question for you. Is there such thing as heat?
Yes, the professor replies. There's heat.
Is there such a thing as cold?
Yes, son, there is cold too.
No, sir, there isn't.
The professor's grin freezes. The room suddenly goes very cold. The second Christian continues. You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat but we don't have anything called "cold". We can hit 458 degress below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold, otherwise we would be able to go colder than 458. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it. Silence. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom.
Is there such a thing as darkness, professor?
That's a dumb question, son. What is night if it isn't darkness? What are you getting at...?
So you say there is such a thing as darkness?
Yes.
You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something, it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker and give me a jar of it. Can you... give me jar of darker darkness, professor?
Despite himself, the professor smiles at the young effrontery before him. This will indeed be a good semester. Would you mind telling us what your point is, young man?
Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with and so your conclusion must be in error... The professor goes toxic.
Flawed...? How dare you...!
Sir, may I explain what I mean? The class is all ears.
Explain... oh, explain... The professor makes an admirable effort to regain control. Suddenly he is affability itself. He waves his hand to silence the class, for the student to continue.
You are working on the premise of duality, the Christian explains. That, for example, there is life and then there's death; a good God amd a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science cannot even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism but has never seen, much less fully understood them. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death connot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, merely the absence of it. The young man holds up a newspaper he takes from the desk of a neighbor who has been reading it. Here is one of the most disgusting tabloids this country host, professor. Is there such a thing as immorality?
Of course there is, now look...
Wrong again, sir. You see, immorality is merely the absence of morality. Is there such a thing as injustice? No. Injustice is the absence of justice. Is there such a thing as evil? The Christian pauses. Isn't evil the absence of good? The professor's face has turned an alarming color. He is so angry he is temporarily speechless. The Christian continues. If there is evil in the world, professor, and we all agree there is, then God, if He exists, must be accomplishing a work through the agency of evil. What is that work, God is accomplishing? The Bible tells us it is to see if each one of us will, of our own free will, choose good over evil.
The professor bridles. As a philosophical scientist, I don't view this matter as having anything to do with any choice; as a realist, I absolutely do not recognize the concept of God or any other theological factor as being part of the world equation because God is not observable.
I would have thought that the absence of God's moral code in this world is probably one of the most observable phenomena going, the Christian replies. Newspapers make billions of dollars reporting it every week! Tell me, professor. Do you teach students that they evolved from a monkey?
If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.
Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir? The professor makes a sucking sound with his teeth and gives his student a silent, stony stare. Professor. Since no-one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a priest?
I'll overlook your impudence in the light of our philosophical discussion. Now, have you quite finished? the professor hisses.
So you don't accept God's moral code to do what is righteous?
I believe in what is - that's science!
Ahh! SCIENCE! the student's face splits into a grin. Sir, you rightly stat that science is the study of observed phenomena. Science too is a premise which is flawed...
SCIENCE IS FLAWED...? the professor sputters The class is in uproar. The Christian remains standing until the commotion has subsided.
To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, may I give you an example of what I mean? The professor wisely keeps silent. The Christian looks around the room. Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain? The class breaks out in laughter. The Christian points towards his elderly, crumpling tutor. Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain...felt the professor's brain, touched or smelled the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so.
The Christian shakes his head sadly. It appears no-one here has had any sensory perception of the professor's brain whatsoever. Well, according to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says the professor has no brain.
The class is in chaos.
The Christians sits...Because that is what a chair is for.

Vinney. I agree. Cutting off margins like that is stupid beyond understanding. My idea is to stop any more margins being done for a month and then make it less the amount they are able to borrow once started again. I can't see screwing with the ones who already have them. Or the ones who are already short.

Matt you said if we stop short selling we should stop going long.
Matt going long doesn't hurt the economy right now.
And I believe that is the reason of the request. The interest rate cuts aren't helping because they came to late and were always a 1/4 point less then should have been for the proper impact. So what else can you do to put some stability into the market place?
You combine short selling with margin calls on top of what has happened you have disaster that needs to be stopped before the damage is to great.
Yes I agree they need to stop naked shorting and off shore accounts. Most definetly! And I agree they most certainly are adding to our problems.
My suggested time would be one month of no shorting and no margin account action either. And when margins start again they can't borrow as much as before.
No need to worry about shorting being stopped. It's not going to happen imo. To much money to be made by people who know the ones who would vote on it if it ever got to that stage. they won't let it happen imo.

Oh no! We have to play them again? LOL! They have always been a pain to Seattle. But not to concerned with sweep. It was bound to happen. We rested some players and Boone was out a couple games as was Bell I believe. But I'll be honest with you. I hope the Yankees beat the As. Rather play them then the As. Have fun at the game. Be prepared for long search lines. Might want to get their early to miss them and go to batting practice.

Mary. Days like today? So since we had an up day after 8 straight down days it doesn't make sense? Sometimes in life you need to change the rules in order to change the direction of where we are going. We are headed for the toilet! What a concept. A politition actually wanting to help us! And you don't like it? Times like these we need to do everything we can to help our country. Another thing they should do is cut out margins for a while until we are back going good again.
God Bless America!
