Look who is testing this...................
"Mesh radio" can deliver super-fast internet for all
19:00 21 November 01
Barry Fox
A new type of high-capacity wireless network called mesh radio will get its first users early in 2002 - a hundred lucky households in Cardiff, Wales.
Diagram: How mesh radio achieves near 100 per cent coverage
It will let them watch movies on demand, hold broadcast-quality video chats with their neighbours, and download from the internet at a blistering four megabits per second - many times the speed of wired broadband delivery systems like ADSL and cable modems.
Even better, says its developers, mesh radio will not slow down when a lot of people try to use it at the same time. Home ADSL services typically provide a maximum data rate of 500 kilobits per second, but the bandwidth available to a user is much lower if several people in the street are online at the same time. Cable modems are similar.
Conventional wireless data systems, known as multipoint video distribution services (MVDS) networks, use a powerful base station with a tall antenna to broadcast to homes over a wide area. Also dubbed "wireless cable" networks, they are often used in rural areas in the US where it's uneconomic to lay cable.
But any tall buildings in the way, or even a tree, absorbs the signals, creating blind spots where homes cannot communicate. As a result, a base station may "see" only one-third of the homes in its area.
Mini base station
Mesh radio achieves nearly 100 per cent cover by turning each home into a mini base station. A stubby unit on the roof, hides four directional antennas with motors that automatically align them with other antennas on other houses.
This allows each node to communicate with several others at the same time. If contact is lost, it can automatically readjust its antenna to point to a different one.
A network control centre - or master node - connects to an optical-fibre trunk line connected to video and Internet resources. The data flowing round the network is labelled so that each home has its own private, indirect connection to the trunk.
The system on trial in Cardiff, and further trials planned for the US, Spain and Germany, works at 28 gigahertz - in the millimetre waveband. Later systems will work at 40 gigahertz. Two-way data rates of four megabits per second are said to be possible for up to 600 subscribers per square kilometre.
Health effects
The mesh radio idea has been developed and patented by Cambridge company Radiant Networks, but it is a conventional telecoms company, BT, that's running the Cardiff consumer trial. BT already runs an ADSL service, and wants to see if the mesh idea works as well as Radiant predicts.
Compared with cellphones, mesh technology may raise fewer concerns over radiation health effects. It operates at higher frequencies than the microwaves used by cellphone networks, allowing the signals to travel high in the air in a tight line-of-sight beam. Power levels will be less than one watt, whereas cellphone masts push out eight watts.
But the World Health Organization is reserving judgement. It recently rebutted reports in the Australian press that it had declared mobile phones and base stations to be safe. Not so, says the WHO: "There are gaps in knowledge which need three to four years of research."
The WHO was unaware of mesh radio and Britain's other 28 gigahertz trials, and has now asked for full technical details on the systems.

The Beatitudes
(Matthew 5:3-12)
Blessed are the poor in spirit:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn:
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger
and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful:
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted
for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye when men shall revile you,
and persecute you, and shall say
all manner of evil against you falsely,
for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad:
for great is your reward in heaven:
for so prosecuted they the prophets
which were before you.

Harry Potter Discussion
By Pastor Bill
PastorBill@ChristianCyberMinistries.org
I have been asked on many occasions for my opinion about the Harry Potter
series of books and now the movie. Here is what I believe God has revealed
to me about this situation
A few months ago I released a cdd about Harry Potter. Many thanked me for
the information and since then it has been one of the most requested cdd’s.
But there were those who did not agree.
Some Christians were irritated that I suggested Harry Potter was on the
wrong side of the tracks for Christian children. Their defense was
“charming, wholesome stories and entertaining.”
Neither Carol nor I bought Harry Potter books when they came out. We did not
encourage our children to buy them for our grandchildren either. Clearly,
right from the beginning, we could see “witchcraft” and “sorcery” all over
the material.
We are Christian grandparents and parents -- so over the years we have taken
our "job" seriously - to train up our children and grandchildren to serve
the Lord. That being the situation we have found it our responsibility to
warn them about things that are dangerous – if you place your hand on an
electric stove burner that is turned on you will get burned. If you fail
look before you cross the street a car or truck will run you over. If you
jump into the middle of a lake that is 25 feet deep and you can’t swim and
you are not wearing a life jacket the result will be tragic. And now --- if
you allow Harry Potter books and the movie into your home the result will be
rebellion beyond what you can handle.
So we have a story about a very cute little boy. He goes to
Witchcraft/Wizard school. Immediately Harry finds out that there are good
people and bad people. Harry weighs in on the side of good. But runs into
the bad crowd. The message becomes evident that you can be a good witch or
wizard or a bad witch or wizard. And one can get better at it if he/she is a
good learner in school.
The books have broken all kinds of sales records and the movie is right in
line as this weekend it becomes the best selling movie ever for a weekend.
So Christians all over are asking what can be so bad about Harry? He’s a
cute little boy with a great personality. The exit polls have the Harry film
rated high for every category imaginable; Special effects, animation, story
line and acting. If sales are any indicator Harry is on it’s way to more
than a few Oscars.
Well, if you were Satan and wanted to captivate a generation of children
wouldn’t you produce a series of enticing books to get them interested in
things of the occult? Then jump to the big screen with all the glitz and
pizzazz Hollywood could muster? Make a mega hit and fill in all the right
categories to be a blockbuster? Have toys sold in every major store of
America to idolize Harry? Cover the Internet with Harry this and Harry
that? Stay tuned for the cartoon!!! I’ll bet they even have one that will
give Barney and Sesame Street a run for their money.
The Bible discusses witchcraft nowhere are there any GOOD witches or
wizards. The following is from Deuteronomy 18:9-14:
9 "When you arrive in the land the LORD your God is giving you, be very
careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there.
10 For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering.
And do not let your people practice fortune-telling or sorcery, or allow
them to interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, 11 or cast spells, or
function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. 12
Anyone who does these things is an object of horror and disgust to the LORD.
It is because the other nations have done these things that the LORD your
God will drive them out ahead of you. 13 You must be blameless before the
LORD your God. 14 The people you are about to displace consult with
sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the LORD your God forbids you to do such
things
What about this? If God kicked out nations for practicing witchcraft,
divination, interpreting omens, casting spells, etc then don’t you think He
might be a little upset when His Christians glorify a kid named Harry who
does just that? Don’t you think God cares that our children are imitating
and learning witchcraft? Don’t you think God cares that you are amused while
your children are imitating and learning sorcery? What do you think God
thinks about our children casting spells on one another?
Now I’m sure some will ask how could I think children between the ages of 4
to 18 could possibly take this seriously. To that all I can say is watch
the affect this movie or the books have on your child or children. Has
his/her sleep become restless? Does he/she see things in the bedroom? Has
he/she become uncomfortably rebellious? Has he/she developed fear patterns?
Does he/she cast spells on friends? On you?
Pastor Bill, are you trying to say this movie or books will cause my child
to become demon possessed?
No, but what I am saying is that this movie or books gives place to
harassment and torment by the wrong kind of spirits.
This may shock some but WITCHCRAFT IS A MANIPULATIVE SPIRIT used by Satan
that opens the door wide to rebellion. It’s no wonder God spoke clearly and
with great authority in Deuteronomy when He said do not mess with it.
There is a saying, “Don’t do as a I do, do as I say!” For anyone who has
been a parent for more than a few months you learn children will ALWAYS do
as you do!!! If you don’t care about Harry Potter and what he does -- the
message will be read loud and clear. This is ok!!! Spells, levitation and
mind over matter just to mention a few. If you stop Harry in his tracks and
do not allow him to invade your home the message read by your children will
be loud and clear. No witchcraft in this house.
One of our grandchildren is named Joshua. When he was about 2 years old he
learned from his parents the meaning of the word “dangerous.” We were
visiting and instinctively he went from room to room identifying anything
that he had been informed was “dangerous.”
I followed Joshua through the house and when he reached the kitchen he
pointed at the oven and repeated ‘dangerous’ -- then off he went into the
living room and stopped at a large coffee table with a pointed corner. He
pointed at the corner and said “dangerous” -- then off we went into the
garage and right to the riding John Deere lawnmower. With a big grin he
pointed and said “dangerous.”
Christian, if a two year old child can be taught the difference between what
is safe and what is dangerous don’t you think a child between the age of 4 –
18 can be likewise taught?
Always near to me as I write is a standard Webster’s Dictionary. Here are a
few definitions as outlined in Webster’s:
Witchcraft: The practices or powers of witches or wizards, especially with
regard as to dealings with evil spirits or the devil; black magic; SYNONYM
sorcery
Sorcery: Pretended employment of supernatural agencies; magic; witchcraft
Another dictionary says: "The belief in magical spells that harness occult
forces or evil spirits to produce unnatural effects in the world."
The writers of these dictionaries understood what this is? Are we smart
enough to understand it? Are we smart enough to protect our children and
grandchildren from it?
Isaiah, a major prophet in the Bible said this in 5:20-21: 20 Destruction is
certain for those who say that evil is good and good is evil; that dark is
light and light is dark; that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. 21
Destruction is certain for those who think they are wise and consider
themselves to be clever.
If ever there was a time when some believers were saying, "What some think
is evil is really good" – it might be now. Is Harry Potter really good, and
not an evil? The choice is yours to make.
If you are confused about this issue may I suggest you stop right now and
pray with me:
Heavenly Father, I come before you right now because as a Christian and Your
child I am confused about this Harry Potter phenomenon. Father I ask that
you reveal to me right now through your Holy Spirit what is the truth about
this movie and these books. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
God bless you,
Even so, come, Lord Jesus Christ.

Alice's Restaurant! What would Thanksgiving Be Without this?
By Arlo Guthrie
This song is called Alice's Restaurant, and it's about Alice, and the
restaurant, but Alice's Restaurant is not the name of the restaurant,
that's just the name of the song, and that's why I called the song Alice's
Restaurant.
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant
Walk right in it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant
Now it all started two Thanksgivings ago, was on - two years ago on
Thanksgiving, when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the
restaurant, but Alice doesn't live in the restaurant, she lives in the
church nearby the restaurant, in the bell-tower, with her husband Ray and
Fasha the dog. And livin' in the bell tower like that, they got a lot of
room downstairs where the pews used to be in. Havin' all that room,
seein' as how they took out all the pews, they decided that they didn't
have to take out their garbage for a long time.
We got up there, we found all the garbage in there, and we decided it'd be
a friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So
we took the half a ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW
microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed
on toward the city dump.
Well we got there and there was a big sign and a chain across across the
dump saying, "Closed on Thanksgiving." And we had never heard of a dump
closed on Thanksgiving before, and with tears in our eyes we drove off
into the sunset looking for another place to put the garbage.
We didn't find one. Until we came to a side road, and off the side of the
side road there was another fifteen foot cliff and at the bottom of the
cliff there was another pile of garbage. And we decided that one big pile
is better than two little piles, and rather than bring that one up we
decided to throw our's down.
That's what we did, and drove back to the church, had a thanksgiving
dinner that couldn't be beat, went to sleep and didn't get up until the
next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Obie. He said, "Kid,
we found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of
garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it." And
I said, "Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
under that garbage."
After speaking to Obie for about fourty-five minutes on the telephone we
finally arrived at the truth of the matter and said that we had to go down
and pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the
police officer's station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the
shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the
police officer's station.
Now friends, there was only one or two things that Obie coulda done at
the police station, and the first was he could have given us a medal for
being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn't very likely, and
we didn't expect it, and the other thing was he could have bawled us out
and told us never to be see driving garbage around the vicinity again,
which is what we expected, but when we got to the police officer's station
there was a third possibility that we hadn't even counted upon, and we was
both immediately arrested. Handcuffed. And I said "Obie, I don't think I
can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on." He said, "Shut up, kid.
Get in the back of the patrol car."
And that's what we did, sat in the back of the patrol car and drove to the
quote Scene of the Crime unquote. I want tell you about the town of
Stockbridge, Massachusets, where this happened here, they got three stop
signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the
Scene of the Crime there was five police officers and three police cars,
being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to
get in the newspaper story about it. And they was using up all kinds of
cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and
they took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
one was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach,
the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that's not to
mention the aerial photography.
After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was going to put
us in the cell. Said, "Kid, I'm going to put you in the cell, I want your
wallet and your belt." And I said, "Obie, I can understand you wanting my
wallet so I don't have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you
want my belt for?" And he said, "Kid, we don't want any hangings." I
said, "Obie, did you think I was going to hang myself for littering?"
Obie said he was making sure, and friends Obie was, cause he took out the
toilet seat so I couldn't hit myself over the head and drown, and he took
out the toilet paper so I couldn't bend the bars roll out the - roll the
toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Obie
was making sure, and it was about four or five hours later that Alice
(remember Alice? It's a song about Alice), Alice came by and with a few
nasty words to Obie on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back
to the church, had a another thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat,
and didn't get up until the next morning, when we all had to go to court.
We walked in, sat down, Obie came in with the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back
of each one, sat down. Man came in said, "All rise." We all stood up,
and Obie stood up with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures, and the judge walked in sat down with a seeing eye dog, and he
sat down, we sat down. Obie looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the
twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows
and a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog.
And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry,
'cause Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American
blind justice, and there wasn't nothing he could do about it, and the
judge wasn't going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each
one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. And
we was fined $50 and had to pick up the garbage in the snow, but thats not
what I came to tell you about.
Came to talk about the draft.
They got a building down New York City, it's called Whitehall Street,
where you walk in, you get injected, inspected, detected, infected,
neglected and selected. I went down to get my physical examination one
day, and I walked in, I sat down, got good and drunk the night before, so
I looked and felt my best when I went in that morning. `Cause I wanted to
look like the all-American kid from New York City, man I wanted, I wanted
to feel like the all-, I wanted to be the all American kid from New York,
and I walked in, sat down, I was hung down, brung down, hung up, and all
kinds o' mean nasty ugly things. And I waked in and sat down and they gave
me a piece of paper, said, "Kid, see the phsychiatrist, room 604."
And I went up there, I said, "Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I
wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and
guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill,
KILL, KILL." And I started jumpin up and down yelling, "KILL, KILL," and
he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down
yelling, "KILL, KILL." And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me,
sent me down the hall, said, "You're our boy."
Didn't feel too good about it.
Proceeded on down the hall gettin more injections, inspections,
detections, neglections and all kinds of stuff that they was doin' to me
at the thing there, and I was there for two hours, three hours, four
hours, I was there for a long time going through all kinds of mean nasty
ugly things and I was just having a tough time there, and they was
inspecting, injecting every single part of me, and they was leaving no
part untouched. Proceeded through, and when I finally came to the see the
last man, I walked in, walked in sat down after a whole big thing there,
and I walked up and said, "What do you want?" He said, "Kid, we only got
one question. Have you ever been arrested?"
And I proceeded to tell him the story of the Alice's Restaurant Massacre,
with full orchestration and five part harmony and stuff like that and all
the phenome... - and he stopped me right there and said, "Kid, did you ever
go to court?"
And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on
the back of each one, and he stopped me right there and said, "Kid, I want
you to go and sit down on that bench that says Group W .... NOW kid!!"
And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W's
where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after
committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father
rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And
they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the
bench next to me. And the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest
father raper of them all, was coming over to me and he was mean 'n' ugly
'n' nasty 'n' horrible and all kind of things and he sat down next to me
and said, "Kid, whad'ya get?" I said, "I didn't get nothing, I had to pay
$50 and pick up the garbage." He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?"
And I said, "Littering." And they all moved away from me on the bench
there, and the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean nasty things, till I
said, "And creating a nuisance." And they all came back, shook my hand,
and we had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing,
father raping, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about on the
bench. And everything was fine, we was smoking cigarettes and all kinds of
things, until the Sargeant came over, had some paper in his hand, held it
up and said.
"Kids, this-piece-of-paper's-got-47-words-37-sentences-58-words-we-wanna-
know-details-of-the-crime-time-of-the-crime-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-
you-gotta-say-pertaining-to-and-about-the-crime-I-want-to-know-arresting-
officer's-name-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say", and talked for
forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said, but we had
fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the bench there,
and I filled out the massacre with the four part harmony, and wrote it
down there, just like it was, and everything was fine and I put down the
pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there, there on the
other side, in the middle of the other side, away from everything else on
the other side, in parentheses, capital letters, quotated, read the
following words:
("KID, HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?")
I went over to the sargent, said, "Sargeant, you got a lot a damn gall to
ask me if I've rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm
sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin here on the Group W bench
'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the army, burn women,
kids, houses and villages after bein' a litterbug." He looked at me and
said, "Kid, we don't like your kind, and we're gonna send you fingerprints
off to Washington."
And friends, somewhere in Washington enshrined in some little folder, is a
study in black and white of my fingerprints. And the only reason I'm
singing you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similar
situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a
situation like that there's only one thing you can do and that's walk into
the shrink wherever you are ,just walk in say "Shrink, You can get
anything you want, at Alice's restaurant.". And walk out. You know, if
one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and
they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony,
they may think they're both ####### and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an
organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement.
And that's what it is , the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement, and
all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it come's around on the
guitar.
With feeling. So we'll wait for it to come around on the guitar, here and
sing it when it does. Here it comes.
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant
Walk right in it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant
That was horrible. If you want to end war and stuff you got to sing loud.
I've been singing this song now for twenty five minutes. I could sing it
for another twenty five minutes. I'm not proud... or tired.
So we'll wait till it comes around again, and this time with four part
harmony and feeling.
We're just waitin' for it to come around is what we're doing.
All right now.
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant
Excepting Alice
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant
Walk right in it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant
Da da da da da da da dum
At Alice's Restaurant

Old Jim and Jesus
Sonny Salsbury
A minister was passing through his church in the middle of the day. He decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray.
Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle. The minister frowned as he saw the man hadn't shaved in quite awhile.
His shirt was kinda shabby and his coat was worn and frayed. The old man knelt, he bowed his head, then rose and walked away.
In the many days that followed, at each noon-time came this chap. Each time he knelt just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap.
Well, the minister's suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear. He decided to stop the man and ask him, Watcha' doin' here?"
The old man said he worked down the road and lunch was half an hour. Lunchtime was his prayer time, for finding strength and power.
"I'll stay only moments, see, 'cause the factory is so far away; As I kneel here talking' to the Lord, this is kinda' what I say:
'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM, CHECKIN' IN.' "
The minister feeling foolish, told old Jim, that was fine. He told the man he was welcome to come and pray just anytime.
Time to go, Jim smiled, said "Thanks." then he hurried to the door. Then the minister knelt at the altar, he'd never done it before.
His cold heart melted, warmed with love, he met with Jesus there. As the tears flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim's prayer:
"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKIN' IN."
Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn't come. As more days passed without old Jim, he began to worry some.
At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill.The hospital staff was worried, but he'd given them a thrill.
The week that Jim was with them, he brought changes in the ward. His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people, his reward.
The head nurse couldn't understand why old Jim was so glad, when no flowers, calls or cards came, not a single visitor he had.
The minister stayed by his bed, and he voiced the nurse's concern: No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn.
Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile;
"The nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, that all the while, "Everyday at noon He's here, a dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down, takes my hand, leans over and says to me:
'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN.
I ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY, I THINK ABOUT YOU EACH DAY, AND SO, JIM, THIS IS JESUS CHECKIN' IN.' "

My Commitment as a Christian
by Read credit below
I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished with low living, sight-walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my Guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problems recognizing me - my banner will be clear.

From 34Simmonds...............
My major message from Vegas...and my feelings from a powerful presentation by Ray and John, both of which were profected from the s/h meeting.
PASSION in what we will become and how fortunate we are having the top PhD's who teach the students in telco land and having a WORLD CLASS ADVISOR BOARD.
While our Company may still be rather nameless and below Wall Street's radar screen due to the $5.00 limitations placed on recommendations to clients by brokers, all doors are immediately when Dr.'s Greeves,Beck,Robinson or Propp come a-call-in. Credability is no longer an issue and replaced with excitement.
CONFIDENCE in our future
PRAISE for our understanding in this our birth year
ADVISE: Words like "soon", "around the corner", and "just about" all reflect negative time frames.

From Year2000..........
My Take on Las Vegas: First of all there is no doubt that Ray and John know exactly what they are doing and are doing it as fast as they legally and humanly can for the good of us shareholders and for themselves. I loved the statement that Ray made several times that WE meaning him and us shareholders would all be going to the bank together. The confidence in knowing what they have and not being able to tell us is overwhelming for them and you could see it was very difficult for both Ray and John to hold all they know inside, they can't wait for the world to know what they have. They are like proud parents right now with the first born child.
Also their business model of starting at the top with the telcos and working down to the equipment makers is brilliant, saves probably a couple of years at least in getting to market by not trying to go to a Cisco and say hey would you incorporate our technology into your chip, by going to the telcos first and proving to them that the the tech works the telcos will force the equipment makers to incorporate the tech into their equipment.Their is now no doubt in my mind that the tech is for real and that we all meaning us real shareholders are in very good hands. I definately will be buying more of this stock Mon. morning. It was also great to meet all of you guys in person and I look forward to seeing all of you again.

From Trex............
* POTENTIAL COMPETITION/ NEW WHEEL ADVANTAGE *
In response to potential competition to New Wheel, Ray and John said it seemed virtually all of the competition was tackling the last mile bottleneck over copper problem by fiddling with current DSL technology -- tweaking it, bundling extra copper wires, etc. And that the technology of the competition is mostly unchanged from current technology. In contrast, New Wheel has come up with a new Layer 1 technology, a different modulation approach, and gone down a road that nobody has gone down yet. Ray told the story of when they first met Dr. Greaves at Cambridge, that after Greaves heard their technical presentation he told them he knew eventually someone would come up with a different approach to high-speed data transmission over copper wire and that New Wheel was just that. Soon afterwards he was on board with NVEI. Ray and John also expressed confidence that they were so far down the road with New Wheel, that at this point they doubted any comparable competitor would be able to catch them any time soon.
* NEW LAYER 2 AND LAYER 3 TECHNOLOGY *
* A question was asked whether the additional Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies added on to New Wheel would work in the real world. John said they definitely work, and that these approaches were different from other noise reduction and spectrum management technologies used by the competition. So, not only is the New Wheel Layer 1 modulation technology a completely new approach to data transmission as discussed in the previous point, but the Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies ARE ALSO new and different from what is being used now. Ray and John said these new layers *significantly* improved upon the capabilities of the original New Wheel technology.
* ADAPTABLE TECHNOLOGY TO SUIT DIFFERENT NEEDS *
The prototype being finished will have fully programmbale chipset hardware, which will allow the technology to be scaled to various applications without having to change the fundamental chipset. This gives New Wheel tremendous flexibility. For instance, NVEI is developing TWO business applications, the first is a single pair 52 MBPS asynchronous application (52 Mbps on the downstream, less on the upstream), and the second is a two pair 52 MBP synchronous (52 Mbps coming and going) application. They have also been requested to provide a third application, 26 Mbps transmission for residential use, which was described as being fast enough for full video with an extended range. In all three of these cases -- the two business applications and the residental one -- a new chipset would not have to be developed. They will use the original chipset with its fully programmable hardware to adapt to the specific requirements of each case.
* STANDARDS *
One interesting tid-bit mentioned was that the standards for various high speed data transmission techniques was much more open in Europe and Asia than it was in the U.S. While this wasn't discussed extensively, it seemed that it would be possible to move faster and further in an overseas environment. This doesn't minimize the potential in the U.S. one bit, but seems to indicate that the operating environment abroad might be easier. As an aside, Ray seemed to be fairly informed on Japanese telecommunications, much more so than I would have imagined.
* COMPATIBILITY WITH CURRENT EQUIPMENT *
Another interesting point is that the domestic telco NVEI is dealing with has provided the schematics and technical specifications of its network so that NVEI can produce a device that will fit right into their network. The New Wheel technology was described as being completely compatible with current telco equipment.
* BEASTS FROM TOP-DOWN *
One of the most interesting aspects of what is going on is that there is not one telco beast in the picture but a stream of beasts. For instance, NVEI is developing products for a specific domestic telco. This is exciting since we have a big company waiting NOW and don't have to go beat the bushes to market the tech. Now this telco manufactures almost none of the equipment it uses. Instead it buys routers from CISCO, chips from Broadcom, DSLAMMs from Lucent and so forth. If the telco beast is going to incorporate New Wheel technology into its network, it will get New Wheel technology incorporated into the various products it buys from different equipment vendors. So the way this looks like it will evolve is that multiple beasts will license New Wheel technology into their products. Not bad at all.
* SHARE PRICE *
Almost everyone in the conference room was concerned with when we were going to see the share price increase. Ray said he was confident the share price would be going up with some of the developments they will announce, but mentioned he was taking proactive steps to bolster the share price now, meeting with brokers, investment banks and other investors. He mentioned that some of the issues affecting the stock were market dependent, but overall he was extremely confident that this was a low in the share price and that things would definitely get better. His energy, enthusiasm and confidence were apparent.

Let God Lead Us
An Anonymous Father
I was walking down a dimly lit street one evening when I heard muffled screams coming from behind a clump of bushes.
Alarmed, I slowed down to listen, and panicked when I realized that what I was hearing were the unmistakable sounds of a struggle: heavy grunting, frantic scuffling, and tearing of fabric.
Only yards from where I stood, a woman was being attacked. Should I get involved?
I was frightened for my own safety, and berated myself for having suddenly decided to take a new route home that night. What if I became another statistic? Shouldn't I just run to the nearest phone and call the police? Although it seemed an eternity, the deliberations in my head had only taken seconds, but already the girl's cries were growing weaker.
I knew I had to act fast. How could I walk away from this?
No, I finally resolved, I could not turn my back on the fate of this unknown woman, even if it meant risking my own life.
I am not a brave man, nor am I athletic. I don't know where I found the moral courage and physical strength - but once I had finally resolved to help the girl, I became strangely transformed.
I ran behind the bushes and pulled the assailant off the woman. Grappling, we fell to the ground, where we wrestled for a few minutes until the attacker jumped up and escaped.
Panting hard, I scrambled upright and approached the girl, who was crouched behind a tree, sobbing. In the darkness, I could barely see her outline, but I could certainly sense her trembling shock. Not wanting to frighten her any further, I at first spoke to her from a distance.
"It's OK," I said soothingly. "The man ran away. You're safe now."
There was a long pause and then I heard the words, uttered in wonder, in amazement.
"Dad, is that you?"
And then, from behind the tree, stepped my youngest daughter, Katherine.

I saw him in the church building for the first time on Wednesday. He was in his mid-70s, with thinning hair and a neat brown suit. Many times in the past I had invited him to come. Several other Christian friends had talked to him about the Lord and had tried to share the good news with him. He was a well-respected, honest man with so many of the characteristics a Christian should have; but he had never put on Christ.
"Have you ever been to a church service in your life?" I asked him several years ago. We had just finished a pleasant day of visiting and talking.
He hesitated. Then, with a bitter smile, he told me of a childhood experience over sixty years ago.
He was one of many children in a large, impoverished family. His parents had struggled to provide food, with little left for housing and clothing. When he was about ten, some neighbors had invited him to worship with them. The Bible class had been very exciting.
He had never heard such songs and stories before. He had never even heard anyone read from the Bible. After class was over, the teacher took him aside and said, "Son, please don't come again dressed as you are now. We want to look our best when we come to worship the Lord."
He stood in his ragged, un-patched overalls, looked at his dirty, bare feet, and said, "No, Ma'am, I won't, ever." "And I never did," he said, abruptly ending our conversation.
There must have been other factors to have hardened him so, but this experience formed a significant part of the bitterness in his heart. I'm sure that Bible teacher meant well. But what if she had really understood the love of Christ?
What if she had studied and accepted the teachings found in the second chapter of James?
What if she had put her arms around that dirty, ragged little boy and said, "Son, I am so glad you are here, and I hope you will come every chance you get to hear more about Jesus?"
I reflected on the awesome responsibility a teacher has to welcome little ones in His name. How far-reaching her influence is! I prayed that I might ever be open to the tenderness of a child's heart, and that I might never fail to see beyond the appearance and behavior of a child to the eternal possibilities within.
Yes, I saw him in the church house for the first time Wednesday. And as I looked at that immaculately dressed old gentleman lying in his casket, I thought of the little boy of long ago. I could almost hear him say,
"No, Ma'am, I won't, ever." And I wept.

SALVATION ARMY REVERSES DECISION
In a major turnaround, the national office of the Salvation Army on Monday rescinded a policy recently approved by the organization's Western Territory that would have offered benefits to the unmarried (including homosexual) "domestic partners" of its employees (PWB, 11/9/01).
"We will not sign any government contract or any other funding contracts that contain domestic partner benefit requirements," said the statement released late Nov. 12 after a four-hour conference call.
The Army had been swamped with criticism from within and without. Col. Thomas Lewis, the Salvation Army's national chief secretary, said he personally received 2,200 e-mails. "A lot of people have been praying for us and with us, and sharing their concerns of why they feel the earlier decision was not correct," he said.
"There are many in the Salvation Army who were just devastated by the news that the Salvation Army was going to offer extended employee benefits," said Lt. Col. Donald Canning, divisional commander in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. "We have been in prayer and we've actively been working to [persuade] our organization that this was a wrong move and clearly against our doctrinal stance and our beliefs."
In the statement, Commissioner Lawrence R. Moretz acknowledged that the reversal placed the Salvation Army in a difficult position. "This will mean that we may need to walk away from historical funding sources or cut back on services in communities where such opposition or local regulations conflict with our policy," he said. "We must be prepared for this, and prayerfully accept the challenge to seek funding and continue our ministry [in a way] that will not compromise any of our principles."
Dr. James Dobson praised the about-face on his Nov. 13 Focus on the Family radio broadcast. "This is a wonderful conclusion to a very difficult situation," he said, urging his listeners to "throw a little more money in the Salvation Army kettles this season" because "they have done what's right, it was not easy, and I just thank God that they had the courage to do it."
Action Guide: Please contact the Salvation Army's national office to thank them for their bold decision and to encourage them.

Prettylady. You asked what you did to receive what you termed rude treatment? In the past you were asked who you are. You have never replied. Others have PC you in private. Yet I'm told no response.
As you may or may not know we have had security problems in chat. Chat was designed so investors can talk about NV or any personal matter without it being placed on RB or elseware.
Due to that problem we have had to identify people. I asked who you were. You refused to answer. You made the choice I didn't. I don't own chat. I ask the shareholders there what they want done. I go by majority rules. If you were to indentify yourself and we were able to verify that I would certainly think that would work. I think it shows though your true colors by posting your first name if that is your first name. Somehow you couldn't even tell anyone in chat that. If you feel hurt by this action then next time I would hope you would show respect for the rest of the shareholders!

Have A Dream?
This is a story about other people. Yet the message is for you and I.
I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.
The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, "I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy's high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.
"That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.
"He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, 'See me after class.'
"The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, 'Why did I receive an F?'
"The teacher said, 'This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you'll have to pay large stud fees. There's no way you could ever do it.' Then the teacher added, 'If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.'
"The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, 'Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.'
"Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, `You can keep the F and I'll keep my dream.'"
Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, "I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace." He added, "The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week." When the teacher was leaving, he said, 'Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids' dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.'"
"Don't let anyone steal the dreams God gives you. Follow your heart, no matter what."

Matt. You said.......Another thought -- put the board into a free category (anybody can post who registers) and if a free member wins, he gets bumped up to premium status. If a premium member wins, he invites a friend to premium status.
This sounds good! Niz is open to all stocks I believe. I think it helps get people's picks out there and expose different companies to people.

Matt. To help grow Ihub. You have seen Niz page on RB.
The weekly contest.
You might think about starting a contest board like that.
The prize can be free or maybe 30% or whatever off percent on a membership for a friend. This would help grow your site.
Or anything else you might be able to reward that would get people here.

He sits by himself at a table for two. The uniformed waiter returns to his side and asks, "Would you like to go ahead and order, sir?" The man has, after all, been waiting since seven o'clock -- almost half an hour..
"No, thank you," the man smiles. "I'll wait for her a while longer. How about some more coffee?"
"Certainly, sir."
The man sits, his clear blue eyes gazing straight through the flowered centerpiece. He fingers his napkin, allowing the sounds of light chatter, tinkling silverware, and mellow music to fill his mind. He is dressed in a sport coat and tie. His dark brown hair is neatly combed, but one stray lock insists on dropping to his forehead. The scent of his cologne adds to his clean-cut image. He is dressed up enough to make a companion feel important, respected, loved. Yet he is not so formal as to make one uncomfortable. It seems that he has taken every precaution to make others feel at ease with him. Still, he sits alone.
The waiter returns to fill the man's coffee cup. "Is there anything else I can get for you, sir?"
"No, thank you."
The waiter remains standing at the table. Something tugs at his curiosity. "I don't mean to pry, but..." His voice trails off. This line of conversation could jeopardize his tip.
"Go ahead," the man encourages. He is strong, yet sensitive, inviting conversation.
"Why do you bother waiting for her?" the waiter finally blurts out.
This man has been at the restaurant other evenings, always patiently alone.
Says the man quietly, "Because she needs me."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Well, sir, no offense, but assuming that she needs you, she sure isn't acting much like it. She's stood you up three times just this week."
The man winces, and looks down at the table. "Yes, I know."
"Then why do you still come here and wait?"
"Cassie said that she would be here."
"She's said that before," the waiter protests. "I wouldn't put up with it. Why do you?"
Now the man looks up, smiles at the waiter, and says simply, "Because I love her."
The waiter walks away, wondering how one could love a girl who stands him up three times a week. The man must be crazy, he decides. Across the room, he turns to look at the man again. The man slowly pours cream into his coffee. He twirls his spoon between his fingers a few times before stirring sweetener into his cup. After staring for a moment into the liquid, the man brings the cup to his mouth and sips, silently watching those around him. He doesn't look crazy, the waiter admits. Maybe the girl has qualities that I don't know about. Or maybe the man's love is stronger than most. The waiter shakes himself out of his musings to take an order from a party of five.
The man watches the waiter, and wonders if he's ever been stood up. The man has, many times. But he still can't get used to it. Each time, it hurts. He's looked forward to this evening all day. He has many things, exciting things, to tell Cassie. But, more importantly, he wants to hear Cassie's voice. He wants her to tell him all about her day, her triumphs, her defeats....anything, really. He has tried so many times to show Cassie how much he loves her. He'd just like to know that she cares for him, too. He sips sporadically at the coffee, and loses himself in thought, knowing that Cassie is late, but still hoping that she will arrive.
The clock says nine-thirty when the waiter returns to the man's table. "Is there anything I can get for you?"
The still empty chair stabs at the man. "No, I think that will be all for tonight. May I have the check please?"
"Yes, sir."
When the waiter leaves, the man picks up the check. He pulls out his wallet and signs. He has enough money to have given Cassie a feast. But he takes out only enough to pay for his five cups of coffee and the tip. Why do you do this, Cassie? His mind cries as he gets up from the table.
"Good-bye," the waiter says, as the man walks towards the door.
"Good night. Thank you for your service."
"You're welcome, sir," says the waiter softly, for he sees the hurt in the man's eyes that his smile doesn't hide.
The man passes a laughing young couple on his way out, and his eyes glisten as he thinks of the good time he and Cassie could have had. He stops at the front and makes reservations for tomorrow. Maybe Cassie will be able to make it, he thinks.
"Seven o'clock tomorrow for party of two?" the hostess confirms.
"That's right," the man replies.
"Do you think she'll come?" asks the hostess. She doesn't mean to be rude, but she has watched the man many times alone at his table for two.
"Someday, yes. And I will be waiting for her." The man buttons his overcoat and walks out of the restaurant, alone. His shoulders are hunched, but through the windows the hostess can only guess whether they are hunched against the wind or against the man's hurt.
As the man turns toward home, Cassie turns into bed. She is tired after an evening out with friends. As she reaches toward her night stand to set the alarm, she sees the note that she scribbled to herself last night.
'7:00,' it says. 'Spend some time in prayer.'
Darn, she thinks. She forgot again. She feels a twinge of guilt, but quickly pushes it aside. She needed that time with her friends. And now she needs her sleep. She can pray tomorrow night.
Jesus will forgive her. And she's sure he doesn't mind.

A "HOMELESS" WOMAN
The pastor's wife pulled into the parking lot of the local grocery to get a few things for dinner. She was in a particular hurry as she had just picked up some of her children from school and had to get some of them to after school lessons. She was occupied with the thoughts, details and responsibilities of the day.
When she pulled into the parking lot that day she noticed a *homeless* woman standing at the south doors to the market. Cindy was acquainted somewhat with the *wanderer*, had often run into her at the market and given her change when she could. In a glance Cindy knew it was her by the long ragged coat and dirty hair. Cindy was in a hurry and did not wish to encounter the woman today, too many things to do and prepare for. Cindy hoped the woman at the doors would not notice or recognize her, if she did, Cindy knew she would lock onto her and ask for money. Cindy groaned and gathered the children and told them all to hurry to the north doors to avoid the woman.
Cindy was relieved when they made it inside the market without attracting the attention of the woman and quickly went about her shopping, determined to get out just as silently.
When the clerk had been paid and the bags loaded into the cart Cindy breathed deeply and sadly knowing in her heart that she was wrong for trying to avoid the woman, but just didn't have the patience to face her. She picked up her pace and nearly flew out the doors of the market with a resolved vigor to reach her van before being noticed by the woman. Just as she reached the van and just as Cindy was about to breathe a sigh of relief she felt a tug at her sleeve. Cindy winced, knowing without turning to look, what and who it was at her elbow. Cindy closed her eyes and feeling guilty uttered a quick prayer "Please help me get through this quickly."
Cindy turned to meet the woman face to face not 10 inches away. Cindy studied the woman's face, her weathered and aged wrinkles, her clear and tired eyes and felt more guilty as she peered into the woman's years of trials.
"Do you have any money for me today?"
"I'm sorry, I used all of my spare change inside, maybe next time." Cindy was still trying to hurry out of there. What happened next however changed the course of life for Cindy, it changed her views, her perspective her devotion and her understanding of life and for all those around her. What happened next was what she least expected from this *homeless* woman. What happened next surprised Cindy, wife of a pastor more than anyone could have known.
"That's okay, could we say a little prayer together then?"

I guess the major point that I would try to make was that unsaved people
aren't really looking for a church or a place that teaches the Truth
(because they don't know what the Truth is). At least from my
experience with my husband, I can tell you that he was looking for
fellowship and activities more than a church. It was through these
outings and activities that he was able to be around godly men who he
could see from example that they were godly. I tried to lead him to the
Lord, but it certainly didn't happen through me. In his case it had to
happen through other guys.
In Las Vegas, the church that was growing really fast was unfortunately
the mormon church. But, there were so many people who felt so unwelcome
in other denominations and the mormons welcomed them with open arms.
The mormons always had a lot of activities for families. This seemed to
be such a draw for the unsaved.
If you want, I can put together a little something listing the outreach
events from our church. I just wasn't sure what info you wanted.

I think one of the main reasons that people stop attending church is
that they don't feel included. We searched for a church for quite a
while when we moved to the area that we are in now. My husband wasn't
saved and I knew it was so important to find a gospel preaching church
and fast. We went from church to church and a lot were dead or made us
feel unwelcome. I had even joined prayer groups and felt so alone
because a newcomer was not welcomed. People were already set in their
little cliques and they didn't even acknowledge that I was there. That
hurts and can turn people off to church in general.
At Fox River (our present church) everyone is so friendly and
welcoming. People greeted us and let us know we are welcome. A lot of
outreach is done. A few days after our first visit someone left a dozen
cookies on our doorstep with a tract and called to let us know they
dropped it off and to see if we had any questions about Jesus, the
gospel etc...... They also included us even though we werenot
members....just regular attenders. For instance, a letter in the mail
about a luncheon to welcome a new associate pastor. It encouraged our
attendance and also asked us to bring a main dish, side dish AND
dessert. We were kind of floored by this at first but it made us feel
sooooo good to be included. I am not a really outgoing get involved
person. If I am asked, I will be more that happy to help. Through this
church I am definately coming out of my shell and going into areas I
never thought I would go.
We do a lot of outreach. We just did a ladies craft night, this weekend
a kids fall fest (halloween alternative). All are free to those who
attend and the gospel is presented. If you want more info on our
outreach things let me know.
I think the main thing is including people into the church. I think I
told you our motto is "You Matter to God". That is something a lot of
people never seemed to know.

Your vision is from God in my opinion, I love it run with it you will never regret it and heaven will rejoice!
To answer your questions?
1. Christians, sad to say! I could say more but I think you know what I am saying. LOL
2. Don't call it a church service, think like a sinner for a minute? Does the fisherman eat his bait? No, the fish do. Think outside the box and you will touch many. Concerts games events etc. special speakers exciting testimonies, creating an atmosphere of faith, hope and love will always be an environment to touch a persons heart.
3. You have some great idea's there are some good Christian comedians out there no one has to know they are a Christian, invite for a night of music and comedy with a message. I am sure you will come up with some great ideas.
4. Yes I have run events like this in South Africa; not sure the rules apply to the USA. The message is the same the methods will vary. Advertising, mailer flyers radio newspaper posters.
5. If my schedule allowed it yes.
6. Pastoring special seminars etc. counsel and advice.
7. Yes possibly!
As for your thoughts on paying for the gospel I pretty much agree. The companies that print and advertise the books set the price not the author, the cost of concerts is hefty, Carmen used to give free concerts and just received a love offering he almost had to file bankruptcy. Sometimes Christians will give more love then offering LOL! It's a dicey issue that sometimes is out of their control. I am still paying off airline tickets from speaking in Australia last year from churches who assured me there love offerings would more then cover my cost. I guess I know what you are saying but having been on both sides of the fence, I can see each side I may not agree with them but I do understand why they do what they do.
8. Single parent families who need a break and vacation big market to reach out to. Remember seeing a need does not always mean you are called to meet that need. Focus and specialize for a higher impact, vision always grows. Faithful in little will be faithful in much.
9. I think I have done that already.
10. I did above!
It is my experience that 95% of Christians never fulfill their God given vision, the 5% that do always seem to be persecuted by the 95% that don't. Wish it wasn't true but life experience tells me it is.
Sad but true many churches may view what you are doing as a threat, they may not believe that you are not planning to start a church. The other problem you may run into will be churches that already have a wed night service they will be threaten by yours. No mater how pure your motives are in this others will not see it that way, even some you may love and respect. If God said to do it, go for it.

Next few posts is feedback from non-ihub members. Maybe you can expand on some of their ideas. Or maybe you have a comment to make about one of them that will help the end result!
Let me start on
commenting on your five purposes and your plans for the facilities:
1. I haven't seen this done anywhere else, but it certainly sounds worth a
try. One question you'll probably be asked by the churches is how you'll
handle referrals (i.e., if someone says they want to start going to church
or asks about a Sunday service). There are several good ways you could
handle that, but I'm just saying you should be ready for the question.
2. This is a good idea. You may have better luck if you bill the events
as something more than a concert. Maybe in the fall it's a hoedown or a
barn dance, in the winter it's a Christmas sing-along, in February a
Valentine's event, etc. I guess it will depend on the interests of the
community around you.
3. I agree that camp is a great way to bring in unchurched kids. For this
you'll need to plan significant manpower (remember all the people who were
involved in camp at Carnation) and perhaps some different facilities (more
cabins, etc.) than you were planning for the retreat.
4. This is another good goal. Be sure you're talking to these groups when
you plan your camp facilities (for goal #3) to make sure you take into
account any special requirements. Maybe someone at one of those groups can
give you examples of camp facilities, layouts, and programs that have
worked (or not worked) for this group.
5. Will you set restrictions on this? Time length? Denominations? Can
couples come together? Do you want to take steps to prevent this from just
becoming a regular vacation spot for those in the ministry, or is that part
of what it's about?
Facilities: These are great plans. If you are not able financially to
implement all at once, I would suggest you take one of your five purposes
and then complete all the facilities necessary to do that very well, then
start on the next one. It's better to be really successful at the
Wednesday night services for the lost, then expand into summer camps, etc.,
than to do a mediocre job of doing fulfilling all your purposes because you
don't have the staffing or facilities to do them all well.
Now, onto your questions...
1. I think the main reason most people stop attending church has nothing to
do with theology or programs or any of that. Other than for something like
moving out of town, I think it's almost always due to some sort of
detachment from the people in the church. Usually they get offended at
something someone said or did, whether that's actually representative of
the view of the church or not. The other reason I see is people falling
into (or back into) a sin. We lose people when a marriage breaks up. We
lose people who are recovering from some sort of addiction and fall back
into it. Is this the group you're aiming at, people who have left the
church, or are you interested in anyone who's unchurched?
2. I reaching out to those who have left the church, I think the most
important thing is to emphasize that you want to help them build a
relationship primarily with Jesus Christ, and only secondarily to others.
Because that's the relationship that will last when they get offended by
the words or actions of someone in the church. People will always fail
them, but Jesus Christ won't. If you're interested in attracting the
completely unchurched (those who have never been in a church), then I would
emphasize the social aspect (almost the opposite of above), and then make
sure they understand that whatever relationships they forge in this group
will never be as good as the relationship they can have with Jesus.
3. That probably depends on the community you're near. And the truth is,
you probably want a mix of things. A fishing derby will likely draw a
different crowd than a music festival. Of course, the word "free" draws a
lot of people. You've described a lot of neat activities you want to plan
for on your facilities. I'd say a free contest of almost any of those (go
carts, bmx, fishing, etc.) would draw people. People like free classes.
"How to" is big, so everything from classes on finances to flycasting could
be a big draw.
4. Unfortunately, I've never been on the organizing side of anything like
that.
5. Depending on my schedule and the final location, I could be. Although I
think you'd want, as much as possible, to find folks from local churches to
help get people plugged into a regular church as soon as they're willing.
6. I can crack a joke now and then.
7. Oh, I'll always get up and flap my jaws, if the schedule permits, but
I'm not sure I'd be a real draw.
8. The biggest need I see right now is hurting marriages, both inside the
church and out.
10. As I said above, I think the most important thing will be targeting
certain groups and activities first and getting a reputation as a quality
venue for those activities. Then, when you expand into other activities,
your reputation will be an asset to you.
That's all I can think of now. If I think of anything else later I'll be
sure to send it along!

Once again an organization lays their treasures here on earth instead of in Heaven. Very sad! The almighty dollar!
SALVATION ARMY TO OFFER DOMESTIC-PARTNER BENEFITS
The Salvation Army's Western Corporation, which encompasses 13 states, announced last week that it would reverse its policy and begin offering domestic-partner benefits to its homosexual employees. The Salvation Army has further confirmed that this new policy will apply, not only to the 13 Western states, but to the entire organization.
In June of 1998, the Salvation Army refused to comply with San Francisco's 1997 domestic partnership law that required all city contractors to offer benefits to domestic partners of their employees, a decision that cost the conservative group $3.5 million in city funds. Army officials then said the law conflicted with the organization's pro-family, Christian beliefs. But now, the thinking is different.
"Our decision is a reflection of the concern we hold for the health of our employees and those closest to them," explained Col. Philip Needham, chief secretary for the Western Corporation. "We understand the need for our health benefits to respond to the wide variety of personal interdependent relationships that we see among employee households today." Yet, only one to two percent of the corporation's 10,000 employees is expected to take advantage of the benefits, which will be made available within two years.
The Army's Lt. Col. Richard Love admitted that losing taxpayer money was also a factor in the recent decision.
Other pro-family groups have reacted with surprise and disappointment. "The only thing that's different between 2001 and 1997 is how many companies in the U.S. have capitulated to the demands of homosexual activists," said Dr. Don Wildmon of the American Family Association, who admitted he would not be contributing his money to the Army's solicitors during the upcoming holiday season.
Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family said, "[The Salvation Army's] statement reveals that the decision to accommodate homosexual employees is based on cultural considerations -- rather than on what is right and ethical -- and of course, on the impact of federal money. ... What is at stake here is an agenda that involves the welfare of children, the definition of marriage, the constitution of the family, and credentials for pastors and priests." Dobson urged the Salvation Army to "pray about this and reconsider" its decision.

Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids
on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last
Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
to call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away...
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Matt. I've been not responding to Joe as you can see by his last response to me. I didn't respond.
But yes that is EXACTLY why I'd like to see it.
Have a VERY hard time believing it. I guess it goes with him using your alias the other day at chat. Kind of makes a person wonder what else he does.
Also think it would be interesting to see on other boards to see if the negatives all membermark each other. Same for the positives. Be interesting to see who is membermarking based on stock preference on those boards or content of post.

Willie. One thing I regret dearly is I didn't save a writing by an old Pastor who was not in the pulpit anymore. I will try to tell it the best I can through memory.
As you know there are a lot of politically correct Pastors out there. They don't want to talk about the hard issues of the day. Or they don't like to talk about sin much.
This man said the thing I regret most was all those years I sugar coated the gospel. I was afraid of losing my job or people not liking me. Here is a man who confessed before the world on the internet about his past. He had asked God for forgiveness. And believed God forgave him. Remember. It isn't that this man preached false teachings. Just the way he teached.
I guess what I'm trying to say to you is this...............
When you preach. Please OFFEND everyone there! Jesus did when he preached!
Fact of the matter is imo Christians including myself need to WAKE up to what is going on around us. We need to wake up to the message God has for us. That message should encourage people when you preach but at the same time CONVICT them.
Forget what your congregation ends up thinking of you. That includes your Pastor also.
For what is important imo when a man preaches the gospel is....
WHAT DID GOD THINK OF YOU?
