TC. WOW! What a wealth of information. I marked those pages. I'm going to take some time and educate myself further
Merry Christmas to you all!
Matt. I'm showing usage way down also. In fact so far down one of our village idiots came over to post with one of his aliases. He has about 8 aliases on RB. I was told you have him in jail now. LOL!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Hi Matt. Thanks for your response. That was for Poorboy. Turns out the cable people (after all this hassel with digi-chat)said he has a poor signal. They are coming out tomorrow.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Halston. You said..........
I think that they are having a tremendous problem with the technology.
I disagree with that. Why? Due to Propps and his team of engineers they now have layer 2 and 3 to solve noise problems. There is a link in ibox to Adaptive. Go there and you will find out why their contribution to NV makes huge sense in this relationship. The first engineers brought NV the tech. Due to different varibles they are now gone. I thank them for their contribution.
That being said we have new people with a game plan that in the first part of new year you will see more revealed.
After numerous conversations with management. I'm very confident the technology is in FINE shape!
Merry Christmas to you all!
TA. We are here to discuss both sides on NV as the Ibox says. That being said language like boilerroom and saying amway sales people are lower in life will not be a part of the discussion here as you see that post is removed.
If someone posts the same thing over and over like RB their posts will be removed and Matt alerted. Matt will then deal with the problem.
Matt looks at ALL posts deleted. If he doesn't agree with deletion he will put the post back. Their is NO dictatorship here.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Halston. You said.........why don't you be honest and inform investors that the only real possibility for revenue in the near future is a low budget surf movie.
Halston. Is the near future to you in the next few weeks? Then I'd have to agree with you. But to say next year there is no future for revenues would mean NV is not in the process of working with telecos. It would mean the Hytek deal won't close.
You are assuming a lot here. So speaking of being honest I suggest you do the same.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Joe. You opened your mouth again which has caused another brain malfunction. Re-read his post.
Jesus talked about slaves in the Bible. Does that mean he was a racist? Hmmmmm. I'll clue ya in joe. NO!
Just means during that time in society we talked that way. Helllllooooooooooooooooo!!!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Can someone give me step by step how to free up unnecessary programs running in order to free up recources? Thanks!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Saw this on another board...........
My story of Faith!
I am one of three children born to parents who loved me the best way they knew how. My dad and mom were professing atheists, very vocal in a time when it was not the politically correct thing to share publicly. My father enjoyed nothing more then to debate Christians or people of other faiths, whenever he got the chance. As a result of my parent’s unpopular and vocal opinions we traveled much, dad lost his job a number of times because of his views. This was way before the ACLU had come on the scene, our life was chaotic to say the least. Yoss reminds me so much of my dad, he loved stirring the pot and insulting people and ridiculing any viewpoint other then his own. My mom was very supportive of dad, not quite as vocal but certainly not at all shy about telling people what she believed.
In 1963 we moved Lake Park Fl. Dad had gotten a job working for the Port of Palm Beach, it as a good job, the best he had ever held and paid twice what he had ever made up to that point.
We lived in a nice house, mom had a maid two days a week and we had a Gardner who was black man, a Reverend his name was Joseph, he could barely read and write but one of the most joyful people I have ever met in my life. He always came to do our yard on sat. he worked hard and sang hymns all day long. He never tried to convert us, my dad often would try and argue with him about there being no god. Joseph would just smile and chuckle to himself and say, sir you may believe that if you want to but my heart and life are all the proof I need to know God is alive and he loves me and he loves you. My father called him nothing but an old uneducated fool, no matter how much my father would insult him and call him names, Joseph never lost his joy. Dad took special delight in trying to trip Joseph up with biblical contradictions Joseph always seemed to have the answers and other scriptures my dad had never considered. Even when he didn’t have the answer he use to tell my dad, you see I am still learning but even when I don’t know the answers I will always trust Him. Joseph would always try and tell my dad about what God was doing in his life, my dad always had an explanation why it wasn’t god.
In 1968 my mom was diagnosed with bone cancer by late 69 it had so robbed her health to the point she was waiting to die. The doctors gave her less then two weeks to live, needless to say the family was heartbroken and devastated. My dad who always had an answer for everything when growing up was at a loss for anything to say. Saturday rolled around and Joseph came to do the lawn he seemed extremely chipper and his singing, which drove my father up a wall, was even louder then normal. At 1:00 Joseph sat on the back steps to eat his lunch, mom was in a hospital bed out on the screened in porch, they chatted for a moment when all of a sudden, Joseph face got real serious and he said to my mom, Mrs._______ The Lord says that I am to pray for you, my mother said, Joseph that is not necessary, besides we don’t believe in god at this house. He smiled real big and said I gots to do what the Lord tells me! I will come back tonight and pray for you.
That evening Joseph showed up, wearing his Sunday go to meeting clothes as he called them, his wife and children were with him. He walked on to the back porch were mom was sleeping, his family gathered around the bed, Joseph opened a old tattered bible with pages falling out, he read from the book of James reached in his coat pocket and pulled out a Gerber’s baby food jar filled with oil. About this time mom woke up to see Joseph and his family gathered around her and he said I am here to pray for you. My sister and I were playing with Lincoln logs on the floor watching this whole thing take place. My dad had taken the car to go by some groceries, so he wasn’t there. Mom said, Joseph I don’t know what this means but before I awoke I dreamed that Jesus said he was going to heal me, so do what you have to. Joseph’s family all started shouting PTL and then Joseph read from James 5:14-15, when he finished reading he unscrewed the jar and poured it on mom’s head, then the whole family laid hands on her and they started praying, they prayed for a few minutes then they all started singing and praising the lord. At about this time my dad came in, he heard the singing and when he saw what was going on in the back porch he started screaming and shouting. In all my life I have never seen my dad that mad, he grabbed Joseph and threw him out of the back door Joseph head hit the cement walk and split open above his left eye. My mom was crying and trying to calm my father down, Joseph’s wife and kids ran to their dad and helped him up and they quietly left. My dad told him to never step foot in his yard again, as Joseph left you could hear him and his family still singing hymns as they walked home. My dad and mom got in a huge fight over the incident, she was embarrassed at how my father had acted.
The following morning we woke up to the smell of mom cooking breakfast something she had not been able to do for three months. We all gathered around the table as she smiled and sang to herself when my father came out he asked her what she thought she was doing. She said she felt great and wanted to cook for her family. No mention was made about yesterday’s fiasco on the porch. When Thursday rolled around
other then mom still being very thin, she seemed back to her old self. On Friday night at dinner, mom declared to all of us that she believed the Lord had healed her. My dad said nothing at all he just ate his food in silence. He later told us, that the doctors told him, some people right before they die feel good for a few days, it was a phenomenon that they could not explain. So we all still expected mom to pass away soon, we were happy she was out of pain.
On Saturday morning Joseph was working and singing in the yard again, even though dad had told him to never come back again. His head was still bandaged and my father never said anything to him other then the roses need pruning. We were thrilled to see Joseph he always treated us kids with great kindness and always told us funny stories.
Two weeks later mom came back from the doctors with a clean bill of health, they could not explain her remission as they called it. The truth is they could find no trace of the bone cancer at all. My father did not know what to make of the news, he was happy that mom was going to live but uncomfortable with the thought that a god he did not believe existed could have done this. My mom had no such problems, she bought a bible and began to study a few months later she publicly declared her faith in Jesus. As a result my father divorced her, against my mothers wishes who was more then content to stay together.
My father moved away and we rarely saw him, maybe twice in the next seven years, we stayed in the same house but things were very tight financially. Mom had gotten a job but we could no longer afford Joseph but he came anyway and took care of our yard even though mom could not pay him. He said, the lord told him to help us out and he did with great joy.
I still considered myself an atheist even though mom and my two sisters were now Christians, my dad was my hero and he still strongly influenced me. I was deeply disappointed when he divorced my mom but I still admired him, he had taught me to be skeptical about everything and I was.
In HS I was a top running back for our team, my junior year I injured my knee so bad that it was not a question of if I would play again, it was wither I would be able to walk on it. Three knee operations later with no improvement, we were now looking at amputation to stop the pain and help me become functional.
I was severely depressed during this time and felt my life was over, I know better now but at 17 that’s how I felt.
Here is the strange part, for three nights in a row I had a dream about Joseph, we had not seen him in years, he had retired. Mom had gotten promoted and we sold the house and moved into a condo. I couldn’t get this dream out of my head, I can’t explain it but I felt I needed to see him, I wasn’t even sure if he was alive. The following morning I got on my bike and peddled with my good leg over to his house. I wasn’t even sure if I did find him or if he would even remember me. As I rode up to his house, there he was sitting on the porch in a rocking chair. When he saw me, he stood up and greeted me by name, I was shocked that he remembered me, he looked pretty much the same just older and thinner with a lot less hair. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a big bear hug, we sat down and he asked about the family. His wife Mary hollered from inside and asked, Joseph if that boy had come yet? He laughed loud and said yeah momma he just got here. She came out with ice cold lemonade gave me a big hug and said, he been waiting three days for you to come by. I said, how did you know? He laughed and said the Lord told him you were coming. I sat back down, utterly dumbfounded, he looked at the brace on my knee and smiled. I said Joseph you prayed for my mom and she was healed can you pray for my knee? He said, sure we can but there some thing more broke then your knee that the lord wants to fix. I said what is that? He said, your heart boy, you ain’t got no joy! You know, I can’t explain what or why I said what I said at that moment but I said, Joseph I don’t believe in god but I want to! My mom and sisters have a something that I don’t and I want it. He laughed and laughed and said, son its called peace with God! He leaned forward and grabbed my hands and said now you pray this prayer with me and mean it with your whole heart. I did and I am unable to put in words what I felt or experienced that day, I just knew that Jesus was real! Joseph kept on praying for me and before I knew it, his wife Mary was they’re praying to and then we all started PTL! It was so natural to do one of the greatest days of my life. Then Joseph reached into his pocket and pulled out that same Gerber’s jar full of oil, he opened his bible to James again, read the same passage poured the oil over my knee and brace placed his hands on my leg and prayed. As I rode home I felt my knee get hot and itchy, I got off my bike and started rubbing it when all of a sudden all the pain left and my knee felt normal for the first time in months, I could jump and run with no pain. I played football the next season and broke two school records rushing, the doctors who operated on my knee said it was a miracle.
Two years later, Joseph passed away, he had told his church that the Lord told him he could come home now, a few days later reading his bible on the front porch he left this world.
His funeral was attended by hundreds of people, at least half of the church was filled with white people who Joseph had been their Gardner at one time or the other. My mother went forward to share how Joseph prayed for her and she had been healed of cancer. That seem to bust open the flood gates, because all of a sudden people of every economic class and educational level started coming forward to share similar stories of what Joseph said God told him to do for them. We laughed and cried, it was a great testimony to a man who had great faith in a good God.
We also found out after my father had left us when things were financially difficult for us, that Joseph was secretly paying some of mom’s bills and sending her money in the mail to help her out, for years we thought it was dad.
Before he died, when I would have a free afternoon I would ride over to his house and talk, he taught me many things about God and hearing his voice, but the most important thing he taught me was to believe in the love that God had for me. He said, you can’t love folks they way God wants you to, until you know in your heart how much he loves you.
Joseph was a man whose life showed me he knew God and brought that reality to a family that didn’t believe he existed.
My mom is a missionary in Chad, she runs a clinic and a mobile hospital there. One of my sisters works with Doctors without borders and is presently preparing to go to Afghanistan. My other sister fly’s for Mission Aviation Fellowship, she lives in Thailand. Myself I am a businessman.
We have not heard from our father in over twenty years.
Thanks for letting me share my story.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Matt. WOW!!! Powerful! Of course what can you expect when you describe the King of Kings! Thanks! I will pass this on. Beautiful!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Great common sense article CAVA. Thanks!
Merry Christmas to you all!
A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat."
"Is the man of the house home?", they asked.
"No", she replied. "He's out."
"Then we cannot come in", they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.
"Go tell them I am home and invite them in!"
The woman went out and invited the men in"
"We do not go into a House together," they replied.
"Why is that?" she asked.
One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."
The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!"
His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?"
Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!"
"Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife.
"Go out and invite Love to be our guest."
The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest."
Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"
The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!!!!!"
MY WISH FOR YOU...
-Where there is pain, I wish you peace and mercy.
-Where there is self-doubting, I wish you a renewed confidence in your ability to work through it.
-Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion, I wish you understanding, patience, and renewed strength.
-Where there is fear, I wish you love, and courage.
Merry Christmas to you all!

Merry Christmas to you all!
Thank You Onebgg! I will print that out. I had to test his BB gun for christmas. Works fine! LOL!
My wife just laughed at me. I told her nothing worse then a six year old boy waking up on Christmas morning with a gun that doesn't work. Quality control!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Welcome to the board Kiddo. I will check out your sites.
I recognize crosswalk. Great site!
It was the day after Christmas. And at a church in San Francisco
the pastor of the church was looking over the cradle when he
noticed that the baby Jesus was missing from among the figures.
Immediately he turned and went outside and saw a little boy with a
red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the little infant, Jesus.
So he walked up to the boy and said, "Well, where did you get Him,
my fine friend?"
The little boy replied, "I got him from the church."
"And why did you take him?"
The boy said,
"Well, about a week before Christmas I prayed to the
little Lord Jesus and I told him if he would bring me a red wagon
for Christmas....... I would give him a ride around the block in it.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Matt. Whoa! LOL! I'm not sure what to think of that. Interesting!
Merry Christmas to you all!
From Matt. Ihub administrator.
I will address and fix the server issues this week.
I'm not putting up with slowness or downtime anymore. This is a crock of shiznit.
I'll explain this all later.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Matt. I'd be glad to help out with calling you. I suggest you get three helpers at least. Who knows? I may get a life someday!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Pengy. Carrier trials.........July - Oct? Can you please check your notes one more time to be sure on this date given?
Thank you. Excuse me while I go puke.
NEW VISUAL TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION
NV Technology is the developer of a revolutionary proprietary transmission technology that allows data to be transmitted across copper telephone wire at speeds comparable to fiber optic data transfer rates. The company
will market this pioneering technology to leading chipmakers, equipment makers, and service providers (such as telephone companies), in the telephony and telecommunications industries. This technology will allow these entities to reliably and cost-effectively provide voice, video and data content over the existing copper telecommunications infrastructure, eliminating the need for fiber optic cable to the home or office. NV Technology is a wholly owned subsidiary of New Visual Corporation.
The Need
The desire to easily, affordably, and quickly access voice, data, and video has increased as applications for media rich content have become more widely available. And, while the backbone of the Internet has been enriched with the extreme capacity and speed associated with fiber
optics, the local telephone network of copper wire remains a “bottleneck” barrier to accessing bandwidth-hungry applications such as music and video. To meet this need, a myriad of potential broadband solutions are being developed and introduced that attempt to replace (fiber) or bypass (wireless) the last mile of copper telephone wire across the globe. Most of these solutions are facing serious barriers to entry when deployed, either the needed infrastructure isn’t completely built out, or the cost for service providers is exorbitantly high.
Many have suggested fiber is the transport technology of the future, but excitement is waning as the expen-sive realities of laying fiber have surfaced. Industry analysts estimate that fiber will reach only 40 percent of U.S. businesses within the next 10 years. By the end of this decade, 10.9 million U.S. businesses out of 18.2 million will not be reached by fiber. Analyst firm Gartner Group estimates that the cost of providing fiber optic cabling to individual homes ranges from approximately $1,000 to $6,000 per household.
DSL technologies have been pointed to as the way of the future but have also run into significant barriers. According to Gartner Group, waning demand for the service
and the hesitancy of service providers and infrastructure investors to commit financially, have dulled many of the initial expectations for VDSL, the fastest version of DSL technology. One key reason for this cooling interest is the fact that current VDSL technology, like all existing copper-based technologies, has a distance limitation that prevents its use in remote areas.
By delivering fiber optic speeds over copper and increasing the range associated with high speed techologies such as VDSL over the existing telephone infrastructure, NV Technology can dramatically improve the status of broadband communications– allowing for the delivery of high-speed data without the complexity and financial burden of rebuilding national telephony infrastructure with fiber optic technology. Assuming no significant technology advancements, analyst firm Cahners In-Stat estimates the technology sector of the broadband industry will grow to a $24 billion market segment.
The Technology – Cu@OCx
Pronounced “copper at OCX,” this patent pending digital transmission technology allows data to be transmitted across existing telephone and Local Area Network cabling, either twisted copper pairs or coaxial cable, at unprecedented speeds and distances.
Using a proprietary multi-channel modulation technique, coined Group Frequency Modulation (GFM), Cu@OCx addresses the problems that limit effective bandwidth and distance capability of other high-speed transmission technologies, such as Discrete Multitone (DMT) or Single Carrier Modulation (SCM). GFM combines transmission characteristics of telephone cable with technology advancements from other fields such as signal processing and information theory. The result is a more robustly transmitted signal and a unique method for recovering data from received signals that are severely attenuated.
In February 2001, NV Technology reached an important proof-of-concept milestone. NetworkCare Professional Services, a division of Lucent Technologies, verified Cu@OCx’s ability to transfer raw data at a rate of 52 Mbps over 9,000 feet. In contrast, the most renowned and anticipated residential broadband technology today, VDSL, is limited to 52 Mbps at 1,000 feet, or 26 Mbps at 3,500 feet. In its initial demonstrations Cu@OCx has shown the ability to provide access up to 133 times faster than typical DSL service, and up to a 900% distance improvement over competing technologies in the residential marketplace.
As importantly, because Cu@OCx runs over existing copper lines (the DSL Forum estimates 750 million copper lines worldwide), telecommunications providers are spared the expense of laying costly new fiber optic lines in every region it wishes to extend coverage and can increase the offering of convergent services quickly and cost-effectively.
Potential Markets
Multiple telephony market sectors could successfully adopt and benefit from Cu@OCx, including the WAN, MTU, LAN and xDSL markets – and ultimately, consumers. NV Technology is developing core broadband technology and IC-based (silicon) solutions that address specific areas of need within three primary high-speed communications markets:
***** Residential
***** Business class
***** LAN – Local Area Network
NV Technology is currently exploring potential relationships with leading ILECs, CLECs, RBOCs, DLECs, IC manufacturers, and telecom equipment manufacturers to determine the most strategic and profitable options for the growth of the company.

You do realize that people can sign up for Free, right now, don't you?
They get access to public boards. They just can't post to Stock Clubs, or send PMs, and they get ads. So, right there solves the entire issue -- making the public boards more active. I realize that most people don't want to pay if they are only going to post on a company-specific board. This is why I did it this way. If they want the real schnazzy stuff, they have to pay. But I am thinking about running some kind of quick RagingBull poster special. Maybe like 1/2 off or something.
So in essense, IH is still free to anybody that wants to post.
Admin note:
Remember a long time ago, me saying I was cracking down on spammers, and I'd do whatever I had to, to stop them? Well, I hand-approve each account before they get access. You can register, but you get no access until I approve it. I very rarely let people with free e-mail accounts or stupid looking registration data. This keeps spammers nearly non-existant and morons off the site.
For example, here is an account that signed up today for the free membership, that I will not approve.

Merry Christmas to you all!
Matt. Those of us in chat are talking about it right now. We are sending them emails. They never have listened before like you do. So as you can see in my message below I have no more respect for them.
Your new format sucks to put it bluntly. I have found NO one who likes it. We are in Ihub chat right now talking about how BAD it is. It would be to your advantage to fire the yahoo who did this. Tell him to just say NO to drugs and re-do this!
Merry Christmas to you all!

Merry Christmas To You All! Below is my favorite Christmas story.
Pa never had much compassion for the lazy or those who squandered their means and then never had enough for the necessities. But for those who were genuinely in need, his heart was as big as all outdoors. It was from him that I learned the greatest joy in life comes from giving, not from receiving.
It was Christmas Eve 1881. I was fifteen years old and feeling like the world had caved in on me because there just hadn't been enough money to buy me the rifle that I'd wanted so bad that year for Christmas.
We did the chores early that night for some reason. I just figured Pa wanted a little extra time so we could read in the Bible. So after supper was over I took my boots off and stretched out in front of the fireplace and waited for Pa to get down the old Bible. I was still feeling sorry for myself and, to be honest, I wasn't in much of a mood to read Scriptures. But Pa didn't get the Bible, instead he bundled up and went outside. I couldn't figure it out because we had already done all the chores. I didn't worry about it long though, I was too busy wallowing in self-pity.
Soon Pa came back in. It was a cold clear night out and there was ice in his beard. "Come on, Matt," he said. "Bundle up good, it's cold out tonight."
I was really upset then. Not only wasn't I getting the rifle for Christmas, now Pa was dragging me out in the cold, and for no earthly reason that I could see. We'd already done all the chores, and I couldn't think of anything else that needed doing, especially not on a night like this. But I knew Pa was not very patient at one dragging one's feet when he'd told them to do something, so I got up and put my boots back on and got my cap, coat, and mittens. Ma gave me a mysterious smile as I opened the door to leave the house. Something was up, but I didn't know what.
Outside, I became even more dismayed. There in front of the house was the work team, already hitched to the big sled. Whatever it was we were going to do wasn't going to be a short, quick, little job. I could tell. We never hitched up the big sled unless we were going to haul a big load. Pa was already up on the seat, reins in hand. I reluctantly climbed up beside him. The cold was already biting at me. I wasn't happy.
When I was on, Pa pulled the sled around the house and stopped in front of the woodshed. He got off and I followed. "I think we'll put on the high sideboards," he said. "Here, help me."
The high sideboards! It had been a bigger job than I wanted to do with just the low sideboards on, but whatever it was we were going to do would be a lot bigger with the high sideboards on.
When we had exchanged the sideboards Pa went into the woodshed and came out with an armload of wood---the wood I'd spent all summer hauling down from the mountain, and then all fall sawing into blocks and splitting. What was he doing? Finally I said something. "Pa," I asked, "what are you doing?" "
You been by the Widow Jensen's lately?" he asked.
The Widow Jensen lived about two miles down the road. Her husband had died a year or so before and left her with three children, the oldest being eight. Sure, I'd been by, but so what? "Yeah," I said, "why?"
"I rode by just today," Pa said. "Little Jakey was out digging around in the woodpile trying to find a few chips. They're out of wood, Matt." That was all he said and then he turned and went back into the woodshed for another armload of wood. I followed him.
We loaded the sled so high that I began to wonder if the horses would be able to pull it. Finally, Pa called a halt to our loading, then we went to the smoke house and Pa took down a big ham and a side of bacon. He handed them to me and told me to put them in the sled and wait. When he returned he was carrying a sack of flour over his right shoulder and a smaller sack of something in his left hand. "What's in the little sack?" I asked.
"Shoes. They're out of shoes. Little Jakey just had gunny sacks wrapped around his feet when he was out in the woodpile this morning. I got the children a little candy too. It just wouldn't be Christmas without a little candy."
We rode the two miles to Widow Jensen's pretty much in silence. I tried to think through what Pa was doing. We didn't have much by worldly standards. Of course, we did have a big woodpile, though most of what was left now was still in the form of logs that I would have to saw into blocks and split before we could use it. We also had meat and flour, so we could spare that, but I knew we didn't have any money, so why was Pa buying them shoes and candy? Really, why was he doing any of this? Widow Jensen had closer neighbors than us. It shouldn't have been our concern.
We came in from the blind side of the Jensen house and unloaded the wood as quietly as possible, then we took the meat and flour and shoes to the door. We knocked. The door opened a crack and a timid voice said, "Who is it?"
"Lucas Miles, Ma'am, and my son, Matt. Could we come in for a bit?"
Widow Jensen opened the door and let us in. She had a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. The children were wrapped in another and were sitting in front of the fireplace by a very small fire that hardly gave off any heat at all. Widow Jensen fumbled with a match and finally lit the lamp.
"We brought you a few things, Ma'am," Pa said and set down the sack of flour. I put the meat on the table. Then Pa handed her the sack that had the shoes in it. She opened it hesitantly and took the shoes out one pair at a time. There was a pair for her and one for each of the children---sturdy shoes, the best, shoes that would last. I watched her carefully. She bit her lower lip to keep it from trembling and then tears filled her eyes and started running down her cheeks. She looked up at Pa like she wanted to say something, but it wouldn't come out.
"We brought a load of wood too, Ma'am," Pa said, then he turned to me and said, "Matt, go bring enough in to last for awhile. Let's get that fire up to size and heat this place up."
I wasn't the same person when I went back out to bring in the wood. I had a big lump in my throat and, much as I hate to admit it, there were tears in my eyes too. In my mind I kept seeing those three kids huddled around the fireplace and their mother standing there with tears running down her cheeks and so much gratitude in her heart that she couldn't speak. My heart swelled within me and a joy filled my soul that I'd never known before. I had given at Christmas many times before, but never when it had made so much difference. I could see we were literally saving the lives of these people.
I soon had the fire blazing and everyone's spirits soared. The kids started giggling when Pa handed them each a piece of candy and Widow Jensen looked on with a smile that probably hadn't crossed her face for a long time. She finally turned to us. "God bless you," she said. "I know the Lord himself has sent you. The children and I have been praying that he would send one of his angels to spare us."
In spite of myself, the lump returned to my throat and the tears welled up in my eyes again. I'd never thought of Pa in those exact terms before, but after Widow Jensen mentioned it I could see that it was probably true. I was sure that a better man than Pa had never walked the earth. I started remembering all the times he had gone out of his way for Ma and me, and many others. The list seemed endless as I thought on it.
Pa insisted that everyone try on the shoes before we left. I was amazed when they all fit and I wondered how he had known what sizes to get. Then I guessed that if he was on an errand for the Lord that the Lord would make sure he got the right sizes.
Tears were running down Widow Jensen's face again when we stood up to leave. Pa took each of the kids in his big arms and gave them a hug. They clung to him and didn't want us to go. I could see that they missed their pa, and I was glad that I still had mine.
At the door Pa turned to Widow Jensen and said, "The Mrs. wanted me to invite you and the children over for Christmas dinner tomorrow. The turkey will be more than the three of us can eat, and a man can get cantankerous if he has to eat turkey for too many meals. We'll be by to get you about eleven. It'll be nice to have some little ones around again. Matt, here, hasn't been little for quite a spell." I was the youngest. My two older brothers and two older sisters were all married and had moved away.
Widow Jensen nodded and said, "Thank you, Brother Miles. I don't have to say, "'May the Lord bless you,' I know for certain that He will."
Out on the sled I felt a warmth that came from deep within and I didn't even notice the cold. When we had gone a ways, Pa turned to me and said, "Matt, I want you to know something. Your ma and me have been tucking a little money away here and there all year so we could buy that rifle for you, but we didn't have quite enough. Then yesterday a man who owed me a little money from years back came by to make things square. Your ma and me were real excited, thinking that now we could get you that rifle, and I started into town this morning to do just that. But on the way I saw little Jakey out scratching in the woodpile with his feet wrapped in those gunny sacks and I knew what I had to do. So, Son, I spent the money for shoes and a little candy for those children. I hope you understand."
I understood, and my eyes became wet with tears again. I understood very well, and I was so glad Pa had done it. Just then the rifle seemed very low on my list of priorities. Pa had given me a lot more. He had given me the look on Widow Jensen's face and the radiant smiles of her three children. For the rest of my life, whenever I saw any of the Jensens, or split a block of wood, I remembered, and remembering brought back that same joy I felt riding home beside Pa that night. Pa had given me much more than a rifle that night, he had given me the best Christmas of my life.

CHRISTMAS UNWELCOME IN SCHOOLS
Public schools across the nation are again squelching the Christmas spirit. The Washington Times cited several examples of school officials overstepping their bounds, inconsistently banning expressions of Christmas while allowing symbols of other religions:
* Frederick County school employees were prohibited from handing out Christmas cards because those with a Christian message "may not be a legally protected right on a public school campus."
* Two middle school students in Rochester, Minn., were disciplined for wearing red and green scarves in a Christmas skit and ending the presentation by wishing the audience, "Merry Christmas."
* A teacher in Plymouth, Ill., was warned not to read a book about Christmas to her second-grade students even though it was in the school's library.
* Students in Silverton, Ore., had to remove "religious" holiday decorations from their lockers, but were allowed to leave secular ones.
* The county school board in Covington, Ga., deleted the word "Christmas" from the school calendar after the ACLU threatened legal action.
* A New York public schools policy allows the display of the Jewish menorah and the Muslim crescent, but not the Christian nativity. A memo from the general counsel of the New York City Public Schools chancellor said, "The display of secular holiday symbol decorations is permitted. Such symbols include, but are not limited to, Christmas trees, menorahs, and the star and crescent.

A lot of you probably don't know this about Christmas. But there were actually four wise men not three.
The fourth one got turned back for bringing a fruit cake!
