Thanks for your thoughts. I believe the dividend is variable, but don't quote me.
On another note, 87 octane petrol going for $2.93 at one station not far from here.
Did they rig the price ahead of the election but their timing was off?
When oil drops, pumps prices decline at a snail's pace.
Didn't happen this time, which takes me back to my rigging rap!
Or, just maybe, we are in a recession. We won't know for months.
I believe the House Republicans are working on a deal to kick the Govt. shutdown down the road.
SSKILLZ1: NYCB
Jenny Harrington made it her "final trade" pick on CNBC's Half Time Report" today. I doubt she would recommend it if she didn't think the dividend is safe. Before I put any money into the stock, I would want to know the extent of its exposure to commercial real estate.
lj: XOM seems to have found a bottom in the $103-104 range, and I hope VTLE is doing the same at $45.
VTLE's hedges are starting to look better every day!
lj: The election results in Virginia don't bode well for oil stocks in the long run, or even for 2025.
If the greens dominate, we are going to have major electricity shortages down the road.
The U.S. is sinking, pure and simple.
The third world continues to pour across the southern border.
Totally treasonous, but who is stopping it. No one.
lj: VTLE 13M shares isn't bad at all, imo, because the current share count is far from high.
I am satisfied with holding VTLE for another year. It will get there.
lj: XOM
Started a position in my IRA. The yield is just under 4 percent. Of course, I purchased it with money that was getting close to 5 percent in a Government MM.
VTLE: Down over $3 this morning on a drop in the oil.
Get close to the $45 put price.
Could the Government have used its heavy hand to force refiners to keep prices down under after today, which is election day?
Maybe way too conspiratorial a thought.
So there you have it: proof that conservatives were censored ahead of the 2020 election:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12719021/DHS-disinformation-group-Stanford-2020-election-emails.html
VTLE is back to its old tricks. Hardly a surprise.
lj: Perhaps we should a snail-mail letter to VTLE's CEO, pointing out the attractions of acquiring REI!
lj: ngas
How well I remember: "VTLE showed over a 70% reduction in natural
gas revenue in 3rd quarter,2023 versus
3rd quarter,2022 because natural gas price
gouging was in play in 3rd quarter of 2022..."
That was due to the Ukraine war and the lack of Russian ngas to Europe.
I hope they are better prepared this year, because last winter was very mild, a mitigating circumstance.
Ngas is just an added attraction for VTLE.
VTLE's price is laughable, but I'll be laughing more and buy if it goes 10 percent lower.
LJ: OT (EV charging)
Note paragraph 6. What a joke.

Thank you for the highlights. The hedge contracts seems reasonable. If the economy softens, oil might fall well below $75, assuming China's economy stays soft, too.
I wouldn't count on a regular dividend. A special dividend at the end of next year would be nice.
There might be further acquisitions. They are doing a good job in that regard.
My price target is $65-70 a share, based upon recent history.
It would be nice to pick up shares at $45-46. Stranger things have happened.
lj: VTLE Earnings day is tomorrow. VLO up nicely today after Marathon reports good earnings.
Earnings season is underway, about to get into full swing.
After earnings season, look out below?
41 degrees with high wind as i type this.
Lots of ngas usage until later in the week.
Central Maryland is very heavily populated. Big ngas country.
lj: Your girl is a neocon war mongerer. She won't get the nomination. Trump will get the nomination, even if he is in jail.
lj: Ask Nancy Pelosi. There is a court case underway in Colorado to prevent Trump from being on the ballot next year on the grounds that he allegedly caused an insurrection. Maybe Ray Epps could testify for the prosecution.
lj: The U.S. has its own problems. The number one problem is the uncontrolled invasion across the Mexican border.
268K processed in September, which does not included the getaways.
The U.S. is being destroyed from within.
Ukraine needs to negotiate a settlement, even if it means giving up territiory. It is a war of attrition, and Biden is seeking to give them $60B more. Rep. Mike Johnson and the MAGA movement ain't havin' it.
Israel can take care of itself as long as the U.S. supplies weapons. The Biden Administration is wisely limiting the U.S. involvement.
By the way, how does Hezbollah get money? They are worldwide drug distributors for the Mexican cartels.
Think a LOT of Hezbollah guys have entered the U.S. across the Mexican border?
The U.S. is in deep poop and the average citizen has NO clue whatsoever of the level of destruction to our society that is being perpetrated by left-wing crazies.
lj: VTLE A higher share count might actually help the stock, giving institutional investors more liquidity.
The current PE is a laugh and a half.
And so we. . .wait!
On another note, winter is arriving across a big swath of the U.S. tomorrow night, after a warmer than normal October in some parts of the U.S. Ngas usage will be rising dramatically.
Gasoline prices do not reflect the law of the supply and demand, so I have no idea where prices will go.
I have never seen gasoline prices stay at one price for weeks on end.
Something is up, but I haven't figured it out yet.
Definitely price-fixing is going on, imho.
DD: If U cannot improve on silence, you shouldn't post.
DD: U obviously have no idea what the FBI has been doing under Merrick Garland.
I am not wasting my time with people who have Trump Derangement Syndrome.
If U like the tactics the Biden Administration is using against is political opponents, you would LOVE
living in China or Russia.
I'm sure members of the this board would chip in to buy you a one-way ticket.
DD: Oh, I get it, like Biden saying MAGA people are trying to undermine the Constitution and are a threat to democracy.
The President of the U.S. trashes 72M Americans.
You have NO argument. None.
NYBob: Speakerman! Love it.
VTLE is living down to my low expectations! Small caps stocks are undervalued.
I guess we are waiting for a reversion to the mean.
lj: The U.S. has made its move in Syria. Are we protecting our interests or helping Israel fight its war?
al44: Hey. Now that we have a MAGA Constitutional lawyer as Speaker of the House, Republicans are in a good position to impeach Garland, Myorkas, and Old White Joe.
If they didn't impeach Myorkas, I wouldn't care because he is a Department head who does what he is told. He is strictly second string.
DD: That post is beneath contempt. Have you no shame?
lj: Israel claims it is not going to wait. Keep in mind that Obama's people (think Muslim Brotherhood) are running the Biden Administration. They want Israel to put on the brakes to give the U.S. time to protect its troops. If they need protecting, why are they there in the first place. Back at the ranch, Zelenskyy says let's hammer the Ruskies down by the Black Sea.
Then I see on the crawler at the bottom of the news show screen that Russia hit an important Ukrainian asset.
What was that? I guess we would have to go to Al Jezeera to to get a semblance of the truth on what is happening in Ukraine. The Western Media either cannot find out the truth or are covering it up.
lj: "Sling the kiddie's heads back in
the new Mustang..." That is perfect!
The wokesters decide what vehicles we can drive. That is the long and short of it.
lj: The war in Gaza has pushed the UAW strike and the House's investigation into Biden into the background. A neighbor bought an Explorer, and it is the first new Ford I have seen in this area in years. Who pushed GM and Ford into EV's?
Did the UAW have a voice in the decision? What we do know is that the Biden Administration has backed the strike and might even be behind it, considering who the ACTING Secretary of Labor is.
lj: VTLE
Sold November 17 $45 puts.
Bought shares at $51.92.
lj: The strike is a gift to foreign auto companies, especially Japanese companies.
lj: They still have 200 people, including elderly, disabled, and even babies.
lj: VTLE
Listened to an oil specialist on CNBC this morning discuss Chevron's proposed takeover of Hess.
He said the bigger oil companies command bigger PE's.
I am thinking there are only the big oil companies and the little guys like Vital. Nothing in the middle.
Would Chevron or Occidental stoop to buying out Vital? Daydreaming, I guess. (Actually, Occidental isn't one of the very big oil companies. Maybe they are the last apple on the tree, I don't know.)
lj: "Unbridled Spending"
That is where Matt Gaetz comes in.
There should be 100 Republican Congressman backing him, not 22 or 23.
That is the reason the election of the Republican Speaker of the House is so important.
lj: Biden has asked Israel to delay the invasion while we attempt to free hostages and to allow aid to get in.
The place that should be invaded is Qatar. That is where the nest of vipers is headquartered. There is a big rise is anti-Semitism at the moment. Gee, the Democrats cannot blame that on Trump. What are they going to do? Biden has said Trump supporters are a threat to democracy. I hope to hell that he ends up in jail, no matter how decrepit or cognitively declined he is. Paid $2.5M cash for his Rehoboth beach house, did he? A week after his scum-of-the-earth son shook down the Chinese. $200K transferred from his brother to him. The Republicans have enough to impeach.
Get on with it.
And on another topic, the creep who leads the Senate Republicans says on TV today that the aid to Israel must include aid to Ukraine in the same bill. At least he didn't have one of his brain freezes during the interview.
The Republicans need to elect a House leader this week.
Inflation is supposed to run at 5 percent next year. BS to that, I say. Another low. On a par with Janet Yellen saying the inflation is transitory. Well that is true, but it could end 10 years from now.
lj: Didn't know they disabled their GPS. That is a scary thought.
WIll check back Monday when the price of oil is higher?
lj: REI don't need to do nothin', hon. (Hon is an old fashioned expression used by the "working class" (whatever that means) Balmer women. It has pretty much died out.)
I am on lunch break from outside chores. What I would like to know is how oil stocks would react to an interruption in oil from the Mideast. Would stocks like VTLE soar? Would EGY do well, assuming they ship their oil on the Mediterranian. Of course, if they use the Red Sea, that would be a problem. Have no idea where Egypt's oil fields are. I assume they are opposite Saudi Arabia. I doubt that the Arabs or the Iranians would impose an embargo, because that would be a gift to Russia and the U.S. oil industry. Lots of questions, no answers.
Enjoy your weekend!
lj: VTLE
It cannot rally past $70, imo, without a dividend.
At the very least, they could declare a one-time dividend.
Had I not bought those shares at $65, the money would have been sitting in a Government securities money market, which at the time was yielding 4 percent, and now is yielding 4.75 percent or better.
With interest rates this high, people want to be paid to wait.
Vital Energy is not a tech company.
Management need to wake up.
lj: VTLE
The stock's lack of upward movement stood out like a sore thumb.
$65 a share by next month's expiration date?
With no dividend, I don't see it moving anywhere near $100 a share.
Gas prices here holding at $3.29.
