You see JAL, that's what bugs me about PTQ...we are getting better as the months go by and yet the SP retracts...and retracts....oh yeah and retracts. Putting aside that we are in the summer months I personally don't think we should be this low based on our current financials/projects in the pipe /share buy back/moving to mid tier/etc etc etc. I can see the SP slip a wee bit, but not this much.
And what about (I think the date was late AUG) for ERNST and YOUNG to go through our books......I thought MJ stated that this would do wonders for us at that time because we are in such a great place right now being profitable and debt free....I guess we shall see.
I emailed PTQ requesting info in regards to why we are only starting to promote in GERMANY and not North America and I will post if they ever answer.
I have said this before, the PP holders must be furious at this point. The fall may prove to be different for all but at this time we suck.
GABBS, it doesnt matter what anyone tells you on this board as it will ultimately be YOUR decision and no one else and you will have to live with that. I dont know what your entry point was but this trend is the "norm" for us and miners in general during this time of year. Just look at last year for us alone.
There are some good things in the pipeline and when summer is over we "should" bounce back but like my previous paragraph stated...it doesnt matter what I say or advise you of it's up to you.
Good luck WHATEVER YOU decide.
So based on what was said, do they (PTQ) issue a PR about todays events to tell potential investors of their concept(s)???????
In regards to the conference call I have a difference of opinion as to what will occur and it is a follows....
These conference calls are pre-scripted/planned and what ever questions one may have for the company...all I can say is good luck getting the answer that one would expect to hear even it is fielded. They don't care about fielding the small retail investor...it will all be smoke and mirrors and at the end of it the majority of people will say "well that was a waste of time" or "they never answered the questions" Wait and see and if I am wrong then so be it but that is my two cents.
I do give them credit for pumping out these PR's but for any company to influence investors, the info coming out of the PR machine has to have very sharp teeth.
Here is another thought...I was always under the impression that these types of penny stocks live and die by "speculation". So, when the company releases info as it did in the last PR which "seem to look good going forward" I would have thought that would have attracted people based on said speculation, but once again my theory was completely wrong.
Im still pissed off where we currently stand accompanied with our future outlook the SP sucks the big one compared to lets say one year ago.
You folks don't have to agree with me nor disagree with me, these are just my thoughts and opinions during the ho hum summer months.
I agree JAL in regards to all of the PR's...HOWEVER, they haven't helped one bit at this point. Maybe when we escape summer but who knows. I realize that a lot of the other miners are also down during this part of the season but the number one reason I would like to know is why have we dropped so much in such a short amount of time ??
1. Is it the mining law debacle ?
2. Is it that people aren't content with management?
3. Do they not think that this company is viable?
4. Is it because all of their PR's are re-written the following day?
5. Is it because when they mention a target date to do specific tasks, they NEVER come to fruition?
6. ETC ETC ETC
WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE ?????!!!!!!
Those people that did the PP must have balls of steel and know A LOT more than any one else because presently they are down a SUBSTANTIAL amount of dollars. Just imagine how much more they could have obtained at these prices.
Unfortunately I didnt get out when I wanted to and now I must ride this out until the fall when I hope and pray to the GODS that something "good" happens to this company.
Thanxs JAL
Oh here's a novel idea...why doesnt someone contact PTQ to find the answer out...I am sure they will get back to ASAP with the CORRECT answer.. yeah right!
Here is a question I would like some feedback on.......just the other day someone picked up just over a million shares I believe at a fair price (at this point). Why would they do that going into the ho hum months of summer when things slow up and generally the SP drops even further? I realize that they too may know the potential of PTQ but once again why pay seventy some odd cents when you can get it cheaper down the road....just saying !
Mj....everyone on this board is fully aware that when someone posts "their own opinion", it is just that. However, as much as I like the info that you post you should stay consistant. What I am referring to is the same point JAL has made a few times. You have been all over the map about the potential of the SP. No one can predict it especially with this Company. I dont take what "anyone" says as verbatim nor should anyone else and I am confident that "we all" know that.
Am I upset that the SP is sinking....you bet your ass, but we all have our own decisions to live with about how we handle this situation. I am fully aware that you are here for an extended amount of years, but a lot of the posters are not.
Correct me if I am wrong but on several ocassions "your opinion" is that of things will/should come to a turning point after ERNST and YOUNG review the books at hand. I am just wondering, when that happens and the results are known, are you anticipating everyone to buy back in at that time thus boosting the levels of the SP that you have previously stated??????
My concern is that if they do in fact "look good" on paper at that specific time (AUGUST)(ERNST and YOUNG) and the SP doesnt adjust accordingly, people should be very concerned. If great news (not fluff) does not bolster the SP in due time, there is a problem.
I have extended my time frame to the end of the year against my original time frame just to see how things "pan out".
"Because if I would have said that i sold all my shares, with everything i know that cant post, you would be running for the hills!"
Good evening Mant......I am very curious about this sentence in your reply. Are you saying that you have knowledge about goings on within the company for which you can't post for whatever reasons....for if you would post JAL would run to the hills ?????? OR were you just trying to get his goat ???????
Thanxs
Well it is apparent that the market isn't fooled about these numbers. A famous line came to my mind right about now and I hear it a lot and not just with this company...."wait till next quarter.". The bottom line may in fact look good but it's funny that no one really cares. They are interested in higher production numbers. Mj if you are still around I pose this to you....and to anyone else who wishes to answer....will you be happy with a strong bottom line with PTQ even if it never becomes a 100 000 producer???? Secondly, "what if" q4 and the aug 31st report isn't stellar....will you still have the faith that you do now?????
I personally will not be here for years like MJ and MANT so I would prefer at least some more action now and not years from now.
If this an institutional stock then how can the small retail man cause it to drop at the drop of a hat !!
If you have noticed in my posts I don't show numbers to support myself and I will tell you why....like all of you I too have done my dd, however, I let the market speak because no matter what numbers I use to support myself, it is irrelevant as we all live and die by the market .
Alright MJ I'll bite....why wouldn't a company promote itself if things are going well...wouldn't you run to the "tallest mountain" and tell the world????? Just curious.
Petaquilla Equipment Leasing Facility With Caterpillar
Petaquilla Minerals Ltd PTQ
4/14/2011 2:20:17 PM
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Apr 14, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX: PTQ)(OTCBB: PTQMF)(FRANKFURT: P7Z) announced today that Caterpillar Credito S.A., the Panamanian subsidiary of Caterpillar Financial, has approved an initial US$5 million leasing facility to the Company's subsidiaries, Petaquilla Gold, S.A. ("Petaquilla") and Panama Development of Infrastructure, S.A. ("PDI Panama").
This facility will allow Petaquilla to increase the robustness of its power generation system through the acquisition of a new 2MW Caterpillar Diesel power generator and PDI Panama, the Company's infrastructure subsidiary, to acquire heavy equipment to be used in heap leach operations as well as secondary equipment (e.g. lifters and telehandlers) to operate the warehouses and the heavy equipment shop designed for mechanical maintenance of light and heavy equipment. This equipment will also be used for the removal and sale of the aggregate from the Molejon pit which will open up access to the gold bearing zone lying beneath the aggregate.
The proposed facility is subject to, among other terms and conditions, a 6% fixed annual interest rate over five years with the option to purchase each Caterpillar equipment item at the end of the period with a final payment of US$1.

Can someone answer this question for me.....once again people have dug up some great info and posted here on this board accompanied with the fact of the latest PRs just put out which appear to also be very beneficial to the Company. Q3 will come and go and as MJ stated we are currently in Q4. I dont expect miracles yet I would expect that each quarter would be better than the last....this is called progress. Slow and steady wins the race. I have also heard people speak of Aug 31 when the books that have been audited will be released. The "discussion" and anticipation about these numbers based on all facts would appear to "great" as well according to people.
All around things "seem" to be great so why doesnt the SP reflect it if the market is based on SPECULATION????? It seems that only this board is aware of it. I am still trying to wrap my head around that even before we went into production we were at a $1.00 based on SPECULATION...and now we are producing gold mine and we are at the same level.
In all honesty we have to have "dug up" more than Q2. Im on board with your numbers. Could you imagine if we exceeded our own expectations. Oh my....now that would be awesome wouldnt it.
One day I want to read a PR from this company (in regards to numbers) that will blow my socks off. I realize that they are still new and still working the bugs out accompanied with having growing pains, but we can all dream. Now saying that, dreaming doesnt put money in my bank account...confirmed exceptional numbers do.
A couple of items...
1. I dont think we are going to have to wait for April 15th to find out what the results will be in regards to the SP....it will start to move up or down days before based on speculation. When the final numbers are out then it may move a bit more in either direction.
2. In regards to the next quarter coming up after this one....we can only assume our bottom line will be cleaned up which is great for any company. However, PTQ is in the MINING business and we need gold to survive and in turn become profitable (and to pay our debt to DB). If we don't find "satisfactory" amounts of gold for this quarter, what makes going forward into the rainy season any better ?????
3. General question...if PP holders are not satisfied with what is going on, can they pull the plug at any time or are there stipulations (other than losing some of the money they have invested)????????
Remember last quarter.....results were not what we expected, however if memory serves me correctly the SP went up on the Monday which we all felt was sort of unusual. If they (PTQ) can show that they are doing better than last quarter then that will hopefully be the start of something good. Maybe Im wrong...maybe Im not.
I totally agree with JAL....if things are not improved since last quarter NO EXCUSE will be tolerated. It will all be smoke and mirrors in my opinion. These numbers SHOULD be the highest as it was the dry season and the revised NEW law had no effect on operations...or so they say !
I don't toot my horn about knowing a lot in regards to investing but this just makes me go hmmmmmmm. We had a law that when it was put into place officially no one really cared so much. Maybe people just expected no issues to come out of it. When that law was retracted chicken little ran around saying that the sky was falling so a lot of investors dumped based on speculation of what may happen. Now we see that PTQ will not be affected/was never affected and here we sit. No run up....no nothing.
I am probably saying items that I have mentioned before but it still baffles me. It is now clear that investor confidence is lost/perhaps in a fog...not based any "wrong doings" of the company up until now, but solely based on the instability of the political climate. I guess the motto will be now....they didn't once...why won't they do it again. (I mean in regards to altering/changing laws whether or not they effect us or not-it's speculation).
COME ON APRIL 15TH !!!!! MAMMA WANTS A DIAMOND RING !!
Thanxs...just catching up on some reading.
MJ...did I miss something (news). What are you talking about ...
"Apparently I guessed wrong and not even the guarantee from the government that PTQ could operate for 60 yrs. without interference, (20yrs.+2 twenty yr. options), moved the stock in the retail market."
Mj I have a point/question in regards to your statement..specifically, when you stated that the SP should bump up. Do you mean after the green light is given and all talk about the mine getting shut down has faded away.....OR do you mean after the new "new mining law" is put in place?????
This is what I don't understand...."back in the day" when the law was "approved" for the FIRST TIME, it didnt affect the SP. Was that because it was baked into the cake at that time and no one anticipated this change of events ????
I for one would be elated to see it POP up back to where we left off but that will only occur if retail confidence is gained back. I dont know whether this can be accomplished after what had transpired.
The BIG BOYS obviously know a lot more than we will ever know and thank god they didn't bail out, for if that had transpired it would have been ever man/and woman for themselves.
Wouldn't it be great if PTQ and other companies posted as much up to date news as La PRESNA. HA !
AND FURTHER>........

The indigenous group that supports the mining remains on the outside of the office of the National Assembly in David, Chiriqui.
12:18 p.m. - David, Chiriqui. "Indigenous groups that support mining projects requested today, Monday, March 21, their participation in the commission ad hoc discussing reforms to the Mining Code .
This situation led to the annoyance of members of the Coalition for the Natural Resources Defense and Defense Ngäbe Bugle Village.
The MP and committee chairman, Fernando Carrillo, allowed the participation of indigenous people who support the mining and had come with banners and whistles to the offices of the National Assembly in David, Chiriqui.
However, the representatives of the coordinator, who fought in the streets against the controversial Act 8 of 2011 - refused participation.
At present, the Coordinator is meeting to discuss actions to be taken. Meanwhile, the group that supports mining is outside the venue for the talks with their banners.
Thanxs for your input LOJ.
Is it "safe" (LOL) to say that the upcoming/maybe yes/maybe no PDI spin off will not occur until all of the politics is wrapped up with a nice bow ? I don't mean the "actual" spin off but even the mention of a possible date ? What the hell is going on with PDI ????? As I have stated in the past it is gravy to have those shares but it still would be nice to know what the heck is going on with it.
As for the Q3 results.....I personally have a motto that I go by when things arent going that well and it is as follows.....EXPECT THE WORST AND HOPE FOR THE BEST !
Just throwing this question out.....IF, and I repeat IF Q3 is "not that great" due to whatever unknown reasons that we have not yet been informed of, with the rainy season fast approaching will that not play a HUGE part in the amount we mine for the upcoming months based on last years numbers. I realize that the rain last year was above and beyond the norm but the rain must slow things down obviously compared to the dry season. A lot of people are saying that Q4 will be great based on zero debt and other contributing factors at play, however let's see how much gold we can extract and finally become the 100 000 producer that at present time WE ARE NOT.
Say good night ! Check out FRANKFURT DOWN 1 5 PERCENT !!!!!! Now trading at .55 EURO. OMG......Yes I said it...OMG !
.75 CDN
LOJ...let's take out heap leaching, expansion, and ODN of the equation.(worst case excluding obviously shutting us down). Then where would be ? What do you think would happen overall to us?

"If only it was January again!". Perhaps this is what managers of Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (TSE:PTQ, PTQ message board), (OTC:PTQMF) yearn for at present. Back then, the shares had reached a two-year high looking stronger than ever.
Now this is history. Fortunately, sometimes history repeats itself. Sometimes, but not always. Especially on the stock markets.
It looks like the stock of Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. was unable to withhold for long the high price levels it had climbed to in mid-January. For a month now, the shares have been steadily going down. Since mid-February, they have lost 31.5%, and the fall still continues.
What is more, the stock is depreciating on rising volumes. This is principally a bearish sign and suggests that the decline might probably go on in the coming days. Yesterday, PTQ moved 6.5% down on twice the average turnover.
This negative performance of the shares was not at all disturbed by a positive company announcement from three days ago. Then, Petaquilla informed about successfully completing Phase 1 of the NI 43-101 compliant mineral reserve update for its Molejon Gold project.
The company festively informed to have mined a total of 743K gold ounces of proven and probable reserves at the property. It represents a 61% increase over the reserves calculated as of Oct. 1, 2010, production cut-off. Sadly, the news did not manage to impress traders enough.
Please, after all you have read so far, do not remain with the impression that Petaquilla is in big trouble. The current downfall, as we mentioned, comes after a period of very strong upward move of the shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The present stock price is still 181% higher than that in July.
In addition, we should mention that Petaquilla has a relatively stable financial state. In the end of last November, it reported $7M in cash, and in early January announced the closing of a $32M private placement. This gives the company a solid financial base.
Petaquilla_-_Logo_2.pngNevertheless, Petaquilla looks presently overvalued on the stock market. According to TMX official data, the market cap of the company is $153M, which is well above the net tangible worth of business.
This means that probably the January stock price has been rather inflated and hence the downfall we have been witnessing over the last month. Event the current price looks high and is not supported by the company's fundamentals.
However, only the future will show if and when the shares will leave the dark shade under which they have been staying since mid-February.
GEICO...with all due respect.."optimism" DOES NOT put money in your pocket. It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Reality speaks volumes my friend.

5:21 am...things aren't looking so well in GERMANY. Down to approx .89 CND !!!!!
"We will all know within two or three weeks."
MJ..could you please elaborate on this point. Is that the time frame you are allowing the gov't to come up with the new revised set of laws/rules ???
What will it take to gain back (if possible) the confidence of the investors putting aside all of the NR's in regards to production, etc etc.
Yes that is funny....and if anyone directed questions at either one of them they would just defer to each other at at the end of the day NEVER ANSWER THE QUESTION ! DONKEYS !
If the "new mining law" was so important, then why when it was passed did no one really seem to care. I mean, the SP sure as hell didnt reflect that it was positive the day it went through. Now that it has been revoked, people care. I don't understand that part of it.
Second of all as I may have missed it in a prior post...how did we ever start to talk about the mine being shut down as a result of this reversal???? I realize that the opposition would love for this to occur but how directly does this change of events factor in a shutdown ??????
And please forgive my ignorance, but what happens to PDI in totality ????

Inmet's Cobre Panama unaffected by repeal of Law 8
2011-03-04 03:35 ET - News Release
Ms. Flora Wood reports
PANAMANIAN GOVERNMENT INDICATES INTENT TO REPEAL MODIFIED MINERAL RESOURCES CODE; CONTRACT-LAW 9 UNAFFECTED
Inmet Mining Corp. has provided information about recent government action in Panama. The government of Panama intends to repeal recently enacted legislation, known as Law 8, that modified the Panamanian mineral resources code. The intent to repeal Law 8 recognizes concerns from indigenous communities residing within areas known as Comarcas that are recognized under Panamanian law. Inmet's Cobre Panama project is neither situated on nor adjacent to any Comarcas, and has had government and local community support.
Contract-Law 9 of Feb. 26, 1997, which governs development of the Cobre Panama project, is not affected by the intended repeal of Law 8, and Inmet therefore does not expect that its ability to continue with development of the Cobre Panama project will be adversely affected as a result. Inmet also understands that the government of Panama will in connection with the intended repeal of Law 8 appoint a special commission to consider and recommend to the National Assembly of Panama modifications to the mineral resources code in consultation with affected parties. Inmet is encouraged by the government's initiative to appoint the special commission, and through its subsidiary, Minera Panama SA, looks forward to participating in such consultations.
I appreciate that posters state that this "incident" that transpired yesterday has NO effect on PTQ, however as I stated in a prior post, shouldnt the PR dept put out SOMETHING to "ease" shareholder confidence considering the debacle that transpired. Please don't tell me that it is not up to PTQ to inform it's investors of such due to the fact that when you look at the posts on this board alone some people have already left / thinking of leaving / or are staying long....it's called being UNCERTAIN.
I realize that there has been "speculation" about "shutting the mine down" for an undetermined amount of time based on the Governments "whim" and I understand that PTQ has no control over this at this point....but they do have control to state whether or not they will remain FULLY OPERATIONAL up until that day comes (if it ever does). We are sitting here reassuring each other it will stay open but once again that is a personal OPINION. I like facts to support what I believe in. If the facts aren't there then nor am I.
You honestly can't tell me that FIFER and the Pres haven't sat down with one another to have a chit chat about current events and share an espresso or two with one another. FIFER has strong ties.
The unknown is always a downer. If we are still up and running by the time the quarterly report comes out/or any other update and we actually did well...that wont matter because of this dark cloud hanging over us.
Until we know what will happen politically, we are in quicksand right now.
Honestly, I still dont understand.....I thought the Pres. was pro mining accompanied with the fact that the mining law was pushed through with an overwhelming YES. Unreal.
Ok..it's gone. Exactly what happens and when would it be decided that they would shut down the mine or not (as speculated). When are we going to find out what exactly happens to us...anyone know?
I may be off the wall here but shouldnt't PTQ be doing some type of NR to advise everyone what the hell is going on. Oh yeah..I forgot...be patient !
Anyone have any idea what the hell this is all about.
President arrives in San Felix and announces that he will repeal the Act 8
9:18 a.m. - President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli, arrived this morning the area of San Felix, Chiriqui Province, where there will be a meeting between the authorities and indigenous mining reforms.
Martinelli arrived by helicopter to the scene, while announcing to repeal the Act 8 amending the Code of Mineral Resources.
