Garrow's got lots of Fight in him
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun
Fight Network starts swinging
New TV network's got the fight idea
Taking the fight to the fans
Mike Garrow was like a proud papa, watching legends like Bret Hart, Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart, George Chuvalo, Chuck Lidell and Larry Holmes parade to the ring Friday night at a Toronto nightclub.
It was a night of celebration ... the official launch of The Fight Network, situated on Rogers Cable channel 427.
A great moment, for sure, for Garrow, who spent so much of his life in Gloucester, just outside Ottawa, developing a passion for wrestling that extended into the family home basement where he would take on all comers -- friends, his brother Todd and cousin James Cybulski of The Score.
Now, the son of proud parents Bob and Betty-Anne, who still call Gloucester home, is co-founder of The Fight Network.
And he couldn't be happier.
"We're all passionate about certain things and I was able to turn that passion into something I do for a career," said the 33-year-old Garrow. "Chasing a dream is difficult, but it happened for me."
Several TNA stars were on hand at Friday's launch, including Jeff Jarrett, Petey Williams, Chris Sabin, Rhino and Sabu.
Garrow points to his Fight Network crew as a great supporting cast. Guys like co-founder Sandy Winick. Brian Sobie. Brad "The Crippler" Sagman. Chad Midgley. And Andrea McCarthy.
"That's the band," said Garrow. "I had a passion to get this done ... and in a lot of cases, I didn't go looking for them, they approached me. In order to have anything grow, you need a core nucleus. Everybody comes up with ideas. These people are hungry to do this."
The Fight Network dishes up a wide variety of contact sports. Stuff like kickboxing, boxing, various wrestling shows and movies.
"It's been great so far," said Garrow. "But if you like it now, wait until you see what's ahead.
Garrow is hoping to extend The Fight Network across the country, including a deal with Bell ExpressVu. But right now, he'll just sit back and enjoy what he's got. And remember that first day when the switch was turned on and The Fight Network hit the airwaves.
"It's very surreal," he said. "Even when we went live on Sept. 22, I sat there and just kept staring at it."
- Jim Ross' job depends on Stone Cold Steve Austin's return to the ring. Austin will face The Coach at the Nov. 1 Taboo Tuesday show (if Austin wins, Good Ole J.R. gets his job back, if he loses, he's fired). Austin made a raucous return to RAW, with several tummy-turners directed at Stephanie McMahon. Also on RAW, a returning Kane won a Battle Royal and will figure into a Viewer's Choice vote with Shawn Michaels and The Big Show to join John Cena and Kurt Angle in a three-way bout at Taboo Tuesday.
- Thunder is the new CPW champ, defeating Paranoid Jake Matthews at Complete Chaos last weekend in Gatineau. The next CPW show, at St-Jean Bosco School (71 St-Jean Bosco), is Nov. 5, featuring Aftershock vs.The Twin Terrors.
- UWA will hold Graveyard Carnival Oct. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Papineauville Community Centre, 378C Papineau St., in Papineauville,Que. The main event is a Triple Threat UWA heavyweight title match with Mr. Class A1 vs. Pierre Carl Ouellette vs. Bobby Roode. Check out universalwrestlingalliance.com for more info.
- Spike TV has spent $70 million for the six Star Wars films, apparently to offset the loss of RAW to the USA Network. As a favour to my RAW amigos and just in case you don't want to spend the time tuning in to Star Wars, here's a quick rundown: Anakin Skywalker starts off as a nice kid, turns evil and becomes Darth Vader. He has two kids with Padme Amidala. Let's warp speed ahead a bit. Luke Skywalker fights a nasty battle with Darth Vader, finds out the black-helmeted bad guy is really his dad and Princess Leia is his sister. Evil Darth helps his boy, in the end. And good triumphs over evil. Along the way, we meet Jar Jar Binks, robots C3PO and R2D2, Chewbacca the wookie, Han Solo, Jabba the Hutt, Yoda, Obi Wan "Ben" Kenobi, Jedi Knights, a band of merry Ewoks and a huge cast of bizarre intergalactic characters.
- Winnipeg's AWE is on a roll. Rick and Scott Steiner will take on Lex Luger (who says he's the commissioner) and Buff Bagwell in the main event of the Dec. 6 Harsh Reality show. Billy Kidman is also scheduled to appear ... and super sexy April Hunter will also be there. AWE's Larger Than Life Vol 2 airs on pay-per-view Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. The main event is Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Darren "The Bomb" Dalton. With a deal to begin broadcasting on The Fight Network in December, this company has nowhere to go but up. Kishi (formerly Rikishi) is ranked No. 1, with the championship vacant. He's followed, in order, by Shane Madison, Buff Bagwell, Synn, Dan Severn, Chi Chi Cruz, Kenny Omega, Johnny Devine, Billy Kidman and Ryan Wood.
- Among the matches for tonight's TNA Bound for Glory pay-per-view: Jeff Jarrett vs. Kevin Nash (Tito Ortiz is the ref); The Phenomenal AJ Styles vs. The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels (Ironman match); Matt Bentley vs. Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams (Ultimate X); Abyss vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Rhino vs. Sabu (Monsters' Ball 2); Samoa Joe vs. Jushin "Thunder" Liger; Sonjay Dutt vs. Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley vs. Roderick Strong; Lance Hoyt vs. The Alpha Male Monty Brown; The Diamonds In The Rough (Diamond, Primetime, Young) vs. Apolo, Sonny Siaki and Shark Boy. If you've never seen a TNA show, you've got to check these guys out. Impact airs on Spike TV at 11 p.m. on Saturdays, with a repeat showing at midnight on Monday. The Fight Network airs XPlosion on Mondays and Thursdays.
Where are you getting that, why don't you talk to Ted Turner or Murdock from FOX and ask them if they are making any real $$$ LOL!
Not Good? Are you crazy. I'd like to own 20% of a major network, won't you?
Talked to the CEO, 2 days ago. I asked point blank what percentage FCDH owned and he told me. Give him a call to confirm if you'd like.
FCDH owns 20% of the fight network!
What is frustrating with this stock is that it can never hold on the bid side. IMO its not dilution though, it looks like flipping to me

Indocan Resources Applies for Cambodia Exploration Rights
Monday October 10, 11:55 am ET
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Indocan Resources Inc (OTC: IDCN - News) today announces that the first two of four applications to the Cambodian Government were filed today for the exploration rights of coastal areas and offshore areas of the country. Cambodia has long been known to have huge potential offshore oil and gas reserves worth as much as 500 million dollars a year, but a lack of infrastructure combined with disputes over ownership with neighboring Thailand have hindered progress.

Surveys suggest that the Overlapping Claims Area (OCA) have high hydrocarbon potential with estimates of 11 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. If successfully extracted, then the country could receive up to $1 billion per annum in revenue from its fifty percent stake. Equally contentious, though for completely different reasons, are Cambodia's onshore basins. In the late 1990's the Japanese National Oil Corporation (JNOC) conducted $20 million dollars' worth of aeromagnetic and gravity surveys over the Tonle Sap (South East Asia's greatest lake) and Mekong Delta basins. The survey area covered 54,000 sq km and identified two deep sedimentary features in the Tonle Sap basin and a third in the Mekong basin.
Indocan Resources president, Jeffrey Bruhjell said that "In January 2005, ChevronTexaco announced that its affiliate has discovered oil in four exploration wells in offshore Cambodia Block A. The 6,278 square kilometer block, encompassing the Khmer Basin with water depths averaging 240 feet, was awarded to Chevron Overseas Petroleum (Cambodia) Ltd. (COPCL), and its partners in March 2002. COPCL has a 55 percent interest in the block and is the operator. Oil pay zone logged in the wells ranges from 41 feet to 139 feet. Analysis of samples indicates the oil is 44 degree API crude."
