Interesting....appreciate the input
Do you think the T trades are one large trade or a lump total?
"This is the next piece of news I think we shall see."
From this statement, I didn't take it as factual....I took it as opinion
Reminds me of news in the past when there would be upward movement over several days....yeehaw
"We must walk first before we can run."
haha, was just gonna say that.....I think we're in the pulling ourselves up phase and standing up right before walking
Buyouts and 20 dollars a share.....slow down and see if they can fulfill their 1st announced contract
Why doesn't somebody clarify with the headshed on his exact role......it could simply, rather not so simply be for guidance on developing and marketing textiles....
No J, your memory is pretty accurate
Could be, hope so.....but a cautionary approach is still warranted. MS was supposed to be the end all, be all product covering ballistics, to clothes, to medical sutures etc to many here....Ballistics won't be the only test DS will have to perform in if the military is interested
Somebody posted here that they already have a deal in the works, subsequently spreaded around the other hub boards ...verified by one of their relatives
fact or fiction?
"In a very short time the military will see the extraordinary properties within.
IMO everything a soldier wears will have SS in it, in time."
I doubt it....isn't this what people were saying about MS?
Sure if it's a success it will have it's uses and limitations, just like everything else
The Army is gonna protect KBLB from the evil MMs and shorters?
lol
"Just a lack of understanding the difference between impact depth and penetration depth."
Rather a lack of understanding that they're more or less the same thing
"You can see in the video that the projectile had no penetration depth but the impact depth was quite substantial."
"Gel will show you penetration."
lol, what?
Military is certainly a good start....I believe they have 10 months to get this contract fulfilled entirely...that will put pretty much any doubts I have at rest
Right, I can perform google searches on my own but that doesn't make me an expert on ballistics...and it doesn't take an expert to deduce there are better ballistic tests since 2010....but then it would probably surprise you to know that the military doesn't always perform ballistic tests on their gear.
"As you can see in the gif the gel returns to shape instantly. So you would not be able to measure impact and could only find penetration depth"
"But the gel has a memory. It returns to its original shape which removes and indication of impact depth"
Are these contradictions an example of verifiable facts? Ya, no thx
Why would you ignore "depth"?
Oh I know why
"In what capacity?"
http://ustar.org/ustar-researchers/randy-lewis/
capacity enough to still be featured on USTAR website after an audit and probe from a government entity
"You might want to try reading about this clay before you speak of others not knowing what they are talking about."
You might reference accurately what I was talking about and to who before you quote something that doesn't have to do with anything
"Other agencys use clay as well. But i think its safe to guess that you are speaking of ballistic gel."
amongst other things, but I guess you didn't know this...that's why you demanded an answer I suppose.
"But the gel has a memory. It returns to its orignal shape which removes any indication of impact depth."
bwahahaha.....not immediately and certainly enough time to measure whatever they need to measure
"So again your opinion is flawed.
Clay has been and still is used for military ballistics testing for impact damage."
My opinion is flawed becasue there are better things to measure ballisitcs than clay or clay is just superior becasue you said so...
"And yes that is real world experience speaking.
I have been through the ballistics testing process before with BAE systems.
We had to build 5 humvees with "bomb proof" undercarriages.
These were then blown up with 200 pound blocks of clay in the passenger compartment as "victims"."
Interesting how that real world experience always seems to morph to whatever argument there is.....someday I hope to be a jack of all trades
Well maybe you should ask somebody who has actually been shot if they would have preferred the front or back.....that's not the issue. The issue was, "What is a shoot pack?", and Yankee is right where this contract is concerned.
The ballistic "tests" cited are a smokescreen as they don't reference a "shoot pack" as stated in the PR
"If the DoD wants to test our materials for their penetrability, and assuming the materials excel in their tests, then how could you possibly think that it matters what the initial tests are done on, be it a vest to protect the body, or a backpack to protect the solider and their gear?"
Pretty sure they ballistically test anything put on a soldier......but a backpack is not the same as a vest
"shoot" pack, my bad......
"Does it matter whether it's on the back or front?"
lol, is this even a serious question......?
If you don't see the difference and why t's important, just lol
I don't have to....he's still there.
What an odd thing to reference when you don't know what the issue is.....shooting pack, is it a backpack or part of a ballistic vest
Oh, interesting....then I will be emailing him
Yeah, and RL emerged intact.......
That speaks louder than anything you're insinuating
"Clay approximates the density of human tissue and gives a good indication of the depth reached by the bullet."
You really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? You should google what other substances agencies use that is more reliable and accurate.
Why don't you show me ballistic info on shooting packs, the same shooting packs that were referenced in the PR....lol
I'm awaiting something more than the usual google search....maybe some actual real world experience like Yankee posted.
Sounds about as genuine as the 10000% you've claimed to have made here....lol
"How do you think RL spoke with me in the first place?"
I'm not sure that he has.....I've never seen anybody on the internet just say anything
"If he felt I was some two bit hack, trying to demean him, he would never respond to me...."
I'm sure he isn't privy to some anon dude's psychologic make-up he just met over the phone...lol
"For the record, I have the utmost of respect for him and actually wish he would come back to KBLB."
For what record? This isn't court. He moved on to greener pastures long ago
"After all the date is soooooo important."
Well, most people know that tech improves...tech like testing procedures......this test is performed on something that isn't even what the contract is granted for.
"Just ask the SEC.
They seem to be basing their procedures on rules made in 1933."
Ask the SEC about ballistic testing....why didn't I think of that?
First of all your house would have to be worth 1 million dollars
"I could have sold my house and dropped $1m into this and had made $500k today."
Yeah, I love insider trading too
Dated 2010.....lol
Hard body armor testing
try again
Maybe, maybe not.....I'll wait and see who decides to use and develop whatever before I get excited. If you think KBLB is going to monopolize everything and every application, I've got some bad news.
"I have respect for him and what he does."
lol, yet not missing the opp to insinuate he's shady AF
"Send him an email and ask if he has an answer to KBLB's Dragon Silk......"
Why? Why does he need to have an answer to it?.....It really is foolish to think at this point that anybody's fiber(s) are going to meet every application
"Await the response,if you get one at all...."
Sure, I'll be on pins and needles waiting.....it's that important!
"Except for the fact that MS doesnt compare with kevlar."
Except for the fact that MS doesn't have to compare with kevlar, especially for those that thought it would be used for everything under the sun and crowed about it's properties...but now it's inferior?
"So i guess they could have spent years developing ballistic fibers from a fiber not capable of handeling it."
Handling what? MS ballistic specs or weaves with it have never been released...lol
"But i think i will remain happy that kim is our CEO and didnt waste our time with an inferior silk for ballistics and improved the fibers first."
You should be happy when he proves he can mass produce anything, anything at all
"Let's not do the RL thing ad nausueam...."
Why not, you brought him up...? We're only interested in the truth aren't we, and not making RL look like he's just some douche out for a cash grab, which is what happened here when USTAR (which by the way encompasses way more than RL) was audited
"Extract money from the military."
"Extract"...lol, of course it has to sound dubious somehow. He's a researcher who applies and gets grants, that's what they do......but it looks like his company is just about ready to break out of that phase.
A significant surge, no surprise......but will it hold and how much selling will take place today. Will it even break the 3s?
