On December 18, 2015, the Company expanded the Board to eight members and elected David Frum and Andrew Griffith to the Board. David Frum is a senior editor at the Atlantic and chairman of the board of trustees of the United Kingdom think tank, Policy Exchange. In 2001-2002, he served as speechwriter and special assistant to President George W. Bush; in 2007-2008, as senior adviser to the Rudy Giuliani presidential campaigns. David Frum is the author of eight books, including the #1 New York Times bestsellers, THE RIGHT MAN, a memoir of his time in the Bush administration. David Frum also works as President of a family corporation, Frum Global Assets, which invests in real estate development projects across Canada.
Andrew Griffith is Executive Chairman of EMAOIFROB LTD, an investment and project management company that has private equity and institutional clients. This company sources investments for clients and also resolves asset based issues for large institutional clients. Since 2012, he is also the Chairperson of Dundalk Institute of Technology and since 2014, served as Chair of the Institute of Technology Chair's Group. From 2001 through 2006, Mr. Griffith served as a Director at Bennett Construction Group. From 2007 through 2014, he served as a Director at Parma Group, which is the investment arm of the Goodman Family Trust.

Today : Friday 18 December 2015
Athens Bancshares Corporation (“Athens Bancshares”) (NASDAQ:AFCB), holding company for Athens Federal Community Bank, National Association (“Athens Federal” or the “Bank”), announced today that the Bank has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase four branches from Atlantic Capital Bank, N.A., subsidiary of Atlantic Capital Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ:ACBI). The Bank has agreed to assume approximately $104 million in customer deposits and purchase approximately $15 million in loans and other assets affiliated with branches in Athens, Lenoir City, Madisonville and Sweetwater, Tennessee. These branches operate under the name “FSGBANK”, a division of Atlantic Capital Bank, N.A.
According to Athens Bancshares’ and Athens Federal’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey L. Cunningham, "This acquisition provides a great opportunity to both increase our presence in Monroe and McMinn Counties and to introduce our great customer service to Lenoir City and Loudon County. The acquisition will also provide us with additional deposits to fund our continued growth.”
Subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the acquisition is expected to be completed during the spring of 2016.
Olsen Palmer LLC served as financial advisor, and Luse Gorman, PC provided legal counsel, to Athens Federal.

The best steaks we cook are when we have a camp fire. Season the stakes as you would normally do and let them sit at room temperature. Get a good hot camp fire going, it must be hardwood, no pine. We use hickory, pecan, black walnut or a combination of each. After you have created a bed of red hot coals, you are ready to cook. Just move the logs to the side and place the steaks directly on the coals. For steaks 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch thick, leave for around 7-8 minutes then flip and leave for another 3-4 minutes. When I do this for company, they freak out! Start talking about how nasty they will be and how could I ruin such nice steaks... They never complain when they taste them.
If your coals are red hot, they will not stick to the steaks so make sure you have enough red hot coals before you put the steaks on them. You can never have too many coals, only not enough...
If it wasn't for the time and effort to do this, it would be the only way I would cook a steak!
