lj: It appears that the Saudis will hold firm in January 2024. Brent is up only a few tuppence today.
lj: VTLE
The stock is worth what buyers are willing to pay, which isn't all that much!
VLO: Dropped to $123 and change in early trading, then moved up. Missed an opportunity to sell puts for this Friday.
IMO, the best time to sell puts is during the first hour of trading.
lj: EV's
Again, I predict GM will go under due to their ESG obsession. Ford, too, perhaps. People are finally realizing that hybrids are the way to go. We probably should buy Toyota stock.
lj: MAGA Republicans in Congress are the only members of Congress trying to top this mess. Guess what the budget deficit is for the recent 100-day period? How does $1T sound to you?
lj: VTLE
You could be on to something. Write to the CEO and ask questions.
lj: VTLE
Let's hope they are sandbagging. With oil drifting lower, the higher the production, the better.
larrybaz: SCKT
$5K is not chump change. Thanks for posting the news.
arizona1: Are you and DD cellmates? ROFLM*O.
Congratulations to DIGITECH and the other contestants in the top 10 who had impressive returns.
Thank you SSKILLZ1 for your hard work, which, as always, made this a very successful and interesting contest!
DD: You think we want the border closed because you think we are racists. You are pathetic.
larrybaz: SCKT
I have owned this loser for years. Soon or later, I expect it to run, at which point I plan to get back to even!
Perhaps they will do a PR announcing the incorporation of AI into their products! I don't know that they would ever use AI, but stranger things have happened.
Thanks for the update on the CEO's purchases.
DD: Your ignorance on this issue is mind-blowing! When Biden took office, he reversed Trump's stay-in-Mexico policy and the flood started. You are so ill-informed on this issue, it is very unfortunate.
By the way, people are coming from every country in the world. The U.S. cannot fix every country's problems.
If you haven't educated yourself with the facts, U shouldn't post on this issue.
Have a nice day!
DD: Do u and others who voted for Biden own this? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12796245/Women-children-migrants-rape-tents-Darien-Gap-doctors-without-borders.html
DD: here is what MAGA Congressmen did: They stopped the Ukraine aid bill in its tracks. The goal is a balanced budget.
I am not wasting my time Dem talking point nonsense. Oh, by the way, the Democrats control the Senate, in case you didn't know.
DD: Whatever U say. I am interested in IMPORTANT issues, not Democratic or Republican talking points.
DD: U are not up on the news in Congress. You will get an awakening when they return.
Russian cannibals on the front line. U cannot make this stuff up:
https://www.oann.com/newsroom/putin-pardons-convicted-murderer-and-cannibal-to-fight-in-ukraine/
DD: The MAGA House Republicans are putting the kibosh on the spending. I know U won't be able to get that, but it is true.
al44; Good ones. Did U read that the U.S. has sent something like $15B to foreign countries to promote LGBQT rights.
Joe or Jane schmoo who makes $45K a year and pays Federal taxes has Congress spend money like that. It is literally criminal, imo.
(I often wondered if the "Q" stands for senior citizen gay men? It is not a word U hear anymore.)
lj: It is coming down to the wire soon. In the big league, our Ravens play tonight and have a by week next week, which is good late in the season because it gives them a rest after a long stretch. Unfortunately, the Ravens have players on the injured list, so they are no shoo-in for the Super Bowl. And so we watch! LOL!
lj: Many people will shop for Christmas no matter what their economic situation is. Interest on credit card purchases will be astronomical in Q1 2024. Consumer spending might fall off of the proverbial cliff.
Visited a shopping center with a Target and a Kohl's, and traffic was no different than on any other day.
It seems most shopping is online now.
There is an extra week for Christmas shopping this year, since Thanksgiving is early.
NYBob: Now that the Government has issued that letter, service members who were discharged for not taking the vaccine should file a class-action lawsuit to get their backpay should they re-up.
lj: REI It is a turkey, for sure!
al44: Great posts, as always. On a very positive note, Mike Lindell is making progress with his campaign to get counties to agree to paper ballots, and his lawsuit against the voting machines in Georgia in 2020 seems to be the real deal. A hearing is coming up in January. I try to buy products at his My Pillow website. No one in America has been more attacked and canceled by the left than Mike Lindell. An American hero.
Have a nice Thanksgiving.
VTLE: Hope your cash-flow estimate turns out to be conservative. The stock is holding up well.
The stability in oil-stock prices suggests to me that oil is going to reverse and go back up.
Wishful thinking, perhaps. On another topic, I saw a Mustang SUV. Yuck!
Have a nice Thanksgiving!
NYBob and everyone: Argentina election
Heard this on Steve Bannon's "War Room" today. They used paper ballots in a one-day election.
Oh, yeah, baby! Mike Lindell, the "My Pillow" guy, has a project to get counties throughout the U.S. to commit to paper ballots next year. Support Mike, please.
al44: That is a good article, one worth sending to liberals!
lj: The oil spill gives the Biden Administration a tailwind to impose more sanctions, err, I mean regulations on the oil industry.
lj: VTLE's volume is lighter today. It will be nowhere near the 90-day average.
On another note, Kohl's (KSS) is down on negative revenue projections by management. I owned the stock in 2022, I believe, (maybe 2021) and it was trading in the mid-$30's with a high dividend yield. Well, to my surprise when I checked today, the yield is 8 percent on a much lower stock price $22 and change. I believe they cut the dividend when it was trading in the $30's; in half, or eliminated it, don't remember. The company has been muddling through for at least a couple of years.
On today's,news, I sold this Friday's $21 put. Should be a safe bet because the .50 dividend goes "ex" around Dec. 4 or 5,
I am hoping the pending ex-date will keep a floor under the stock in the $22's. We shall see.
NYBob: I'm sure there's going to be a big meltdown among far-lefties throughout the world. The Argentina election throws a monkey wrench into their plans for Marxist one-world order.
And, speaking of that, Germany is allowing Palestinian refugees in. They never learn. Even Egypt won't let them in.
lj: Biden took the Houthi's off of the terrorist watch list. They are Boy Scouts.
The longer this drags on, the worse it is going to get.
It is far more likely than unlikely, imho, they events will results in a big oil price spike or two.
If it happens, it would be nice if it happened before early voting starts!
In another part of the world, this:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/oil-spill-could-put-endangered-144046947.html
NYBob: Will be interesting to get Steve Bannon's take on this event.
lj: VTLE
It went up some on in the morning on volume of 220K+ shares. Citibank started coverage with a $60 price target.
It started moving up a little last week.
I'm staying with it until $65 a share or better.
al44: Excellent post. However, there are Republicans who are working hard to stop this mess in the House--the MAGA coalitions led by Gaetz, Burchett, Vance, Rosendale, Mike Johnson and maybe 16 others.. Then there are the Republicans who are part of the Uniparty. They need to go in the next election. Oh, yes, the 8 traitors who voted against MTG's impeachment resolution against Majorkas. Republicans are our worst enemies in this fight.
MSFT--Today's news is mind-blowing, imo, especially if the ChatGPT talent follow their former boss to MSFT. https://finance.yahoo.com/video/sam-altman-joining-microsoft-huge-145034314.html
lj: Here is the link. I don't like the world "major".
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12764913/Iceland-volcano-thousands-earthquakes-eruption-evacuation.html
lj: And on the topic of oil, two things.
One, China has a very LT, something like 25-year deal, with Iran to buy their oil at a 45%, 50% discount to the price of Brent.
They also have ngas contracts locked up. China can now spend on its military.
Two, this might be bullish or bearish for oil. Bullish if it sends a plum of ash into the atmosphere and causes a colder than normal winter, or even longer than winter; bearish at the outset if it interrupts air travel.
If two or three major volcanos were to erupt within a relatively short time of each other, say within a 12-month period, we could have a mini-ice age.
I'll throw in a "three". I think XOM bottomed when it saw it at $101 and changed. Missed an opp to add shares.
And so we watch, sometimes in horror, sometimes in disbelief, sometimes in both.
Sorry. I have to go get the link. I'll post it by itself.
NYBob: Thank you for the alert, Bob. Great post. EOM
p_o_s: When I was growing up, that story would have been considered "news unfit to print".
Of course, when I was growing up, they put crazy people in State institutions.
