Wildman, the value proposition is becoming clearer and clearer. I have a feeling that once we have some good reference wins, it will flow like Niagra. We still don't see security beeing marketed. I have no doubts that will be the case. I get the feeling we will have a 5 dollar day this year. I'm pretty patient, but my patience may turn me into a patient.
John
TheBerkshires,
my take is 1.1 is available for those seek it out. When 1.2 is available, we will see much more marketing (e.g. Longhorn certified platform).
John
C'mon TCG,
get the word out that there is a way to protect information:
'Perfect storm' for new privacy laws?

A series of security break-ins is kick-starting a political drive to reshape federal laws that dictate how companies protect personal information--and what they have to do if that data leaks out.
What began with the leak of tens of thousands of records from data broker ChoicePoint earlier this month was quickly compounded by a series of rapid-fire incidents involving Bank of America, Science Applications International Corp., an online payroll services company and the T-Mobile Sidekick of hotel heiress Paris Hilton....

Weets,
I agree -- this was by far SKS's best delivery.
John
Kevin,
thanks for the great dd.
John
kant,
Wave is being offered as THE TPM solution by the largest PC manufacturer on the planet. TPMs are starting to pick up speed and Wave has been selected by #1. The thought of a company with no revenue being undervalued probably seems strange for most, but based on the risk/reward I believe we are exactly that.
John
Go-kite,
that's terrible news. I will remember yaya for the enthusiasm he brought to this board.
John
Wildman,
right -- it depends how it's pitched. I know I personally would love to have document manager at home. People store a lot of sensitive information on their computers these days. What happens if you have to take it in for a repair...I think I would rather replace my pc.
John
Yaya,
give it some time. TPMs have only been a concept. With TPMs becoming available in volume to the likes of Dell and others, it actually becomes a solution.
John
Wave:
If you look for "Wave" on all of the technical specifications I believe you will find Wave...very nice!
John
go-kite,
as eamon stated, you have to go to the tech. spec. for each of the boards. There is a prod matrix that appears out of sync with the tech. spec. of each board. Nice find eamon!
John
Buffetguy,
you're right, at some point it will be incredibly irresponsible to not protect information better. It should be easy to sell lemonade on a 90 degree day when everyone else is selling coffee.
John
There has got to be a better way to protect information:
"Thieves steal consumer info database"
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of U.S. consumers face a greater risk of identity theft after criminals gained access to a database of personal records compiled by ChoicePoint Inc., a company spokesman said Tuesday.
Identity thieves posing as legitimate businesses were able to access profiles that include Social Security numbers, credit histories, criminal records and other sensitive material, ChoicePoint spokesman Chuck Jones said....

Awk,
on any of the pcs that include a TPM, click "learn more" or "help me choose" from "factory installed software" and you will find a tab for TPMs and for the Wave ETS. I have a hunch this will be one of the availble choices pretty soon in addition to the Otanium Suite.
John
Asiseeit,
any technology that gets rid of those stinking tokens would be great. By the time you enter the number, it's already changing.
John
nicknamen,
I agree, I would not read much into the removal of the link. Wave's working with Dell will require more from Dell's competitors not less.
John
Weby,
I believe Dell’s formal commitment to TPMs swung the risk/reward pendulum dramatically and this has largely gone unnoticed by investors.
John
Awk,
that's a great clarification. Your knowledge and insight is an incredible asset to the board. You have helped to educate many people on this space. Thanks for your efforts.
John
1.1 vs 1.2,
from my understanding 1.2s will be available this year. To me this implies several things:
1.) It is likely that MS will be ready with a feature to utilize the TPM this year.
2.) AMD and Intel will have news related to secure execution this year.
3.) Dell saw some immediate opportunities with 1.1s. Otherwise they would not have held a press conference to champion these security features while making the TPM available on several lines
4.) The risk of this investment dropped significantly with Dell offering 1.1s. A huge anchor was just lowered into the water.
all imho,
John
Greg, here is your statment from the other day:
"That being said, you are missing the crux of my point to the other poster. If TPM-enabled security was the "killer" function many would propose, you would see it broadly deployed (like the functionality I mentioned), not relegated to niche platforms."
John
Greg,
has your opinion on TPM adoption changed? I believe you had previously TPMs would not be adopted. Today you say MS will create all the value adds. So do you now believe TPMs will become a standard? If not, what would MS's interest be?
John
Awk, get you arse back on the board.
John
Weby,
nice quote from your link:
"It's the same thing with each of these technologies," Kay said. "When Dell moves into a new area, it is ratifying the technology as mainstream."
John
Dell,
imo there were some immediate opportunities for Dell to sell 1.1 machines and they are obviously making tpms available to take advantage of the opportunity. However, as soon as 1.2s are available, we'll see tpms on everything. Dell's commitment is a huge anchor point for Wave and all of the investors. I'm giddy.
John
Greg, exactly. So even though they are standard features today, there was a barrier to them becoming standard features over night.
John
Greg, why did CD players and DVD players take a few years to be standard features in your opinion?
John
Greg, I think you have missed the point on why TPMs are not yet widely deployed, imo.
John
Awk,
nice post. There is a lot to be learned in the near future.
John
It looks like we will have our own booth at IDF as well:
http://www.intel.com/idf/us/spring2005/systems/se_list.htm
It also looks like the TCG wil be present.
John
RSA -- It looks like Wave has their own booth:
http://2005.rsaconference.com/us/exhibitor/exhibitor_info.aspx?id=10121
John
Given the era we are in, data privacy laws, network security, information security and the fact that bits=money, it will be irresponsible at some point not to deploy TPMs.
John
Wildman,
right on. The ramp up will happen quickly, imo. Tick tock until 1.2s are ready to roll...
John
Zen,
it's very common and that's what large corporations do since machines are typically leased and expire at different times.
John
Zen,
it makes sense that when the OS is updated on existing machines, that they have a 1.2 tpm. A lot of corporate pc leases are 3 years. It would stink if these companies could not take advantage of the huge advantages of tpms until three years after the arrival of longhorn.

About Wave
Wave’s Trusted Computing Vision
Shared By Industry Leaders
The major suppliers in the personal computer, mobile devices and consumer electronics ecosystem are now a part of an important industry effort — rapidly gaining momentum — that is aimed at making all digital devices more secure. Trusted hardware — with secure software rather than software-only solutions — is seen as the most effective combination to leverage security options that are effective and useful to end users.
Influential companies including Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, AMD, Sony and Sun Microsystems and many others have made firm commitments to hardware-based Trusted Computing through participation in the Trusted Computing Group. Earlier, the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA) defined a semiconductor device known as the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to serve as a root of trust for the PC platform. The Trusted Computing Group has adopted the TCPA specifications and is now positioned to drive a broader set of trustworthy computing initiatives across multiple platforms aimed at unleashing the next generation of Internet opportunities.
Wave Systems conceptualized and developed many of the key elements of a comprehensive trusted computing ecosystem with its Trust System. The development and deployment of this technology strengthened Wave’s capabilities to adopt the new TCG standards for hardware based Trusted Computing. Wave Systems has adapted and is developing its breakthrough trusted computing technologies to support the Trusted Computing Group’s specifications and opportunities.
As a leader in delivering trusted computing applications, services, and infrastructures across multiple trusted platforms, Wave’s business objective is to focus its unique portfolio of assets based on the industry’s accelerating adoption of Trusted Computing. Today, through a growing range of strategic relationships with major industry leaders, Wave is delivering its EMBASSY Trust Suite of applications, middleware and services, first to enterprises and eventually across all customer segments. The EMBASSY Trust Suite provides the industry’s only multi-vendor TPM-based applications and development products. By adhering to a cross platform-based approach to Trusted Computing, Wave is assisting its customers with evolutionary growth and interoperability while relying on broadly supported industry initiatives. This philosophy allows application developers to easily enable and support the Trusted Computing initiatives. Application capabilities of the ETS help the enterprise users to leverage their training and knowledge to not only be productive, but also to be secure, as they adopt the Trusted Computing platforms. Wave’s ongoing commitment to ease of use, seamless integration and alignment into the existing business process is a cornerstone requirement for adoption of these platforms. Wave has defined a pioneering role as a solution provider for hardware and services that has put us in an anchor position in the evolution of this substantial market opportunity.
Solutions Across Multiple Platforms
Wave has a licensing agreement with National Semiconductor to bundle Wave’s EMBASSY® Trust Suite of applications and services with National’s SafeKeeper™ TPMs. Also, Wave has a licensing agreement with Intel to bundle the EMBASSY® Trust Suite Professional Edition with the Intel enterprise desktop motherboards D865GRH, D915GEV and D915GUX. Wave’s EMBASSY Trust Suite applications work with the HP ProtectTools Embedded Security System for personal computers, the IBM Embedded Security Subsystem for personal computers, with Atmel Corporation’s Trusted Platform Module (AT97SC3201) technology and software stack and with the Infineon Technologies TPM Module, the Ready-To-Go-Solution.
EMBASSY Trust Suite — Wave’s Service Delivery Model
Everyday experience shows us that products and services that are unnecessarily complex and difficult to use will ultimately fail in the marketplace. Wave believes that in order for Trusted Computing to be truly successful, computing platforms must offer security solutions that are perceived to have value, be simple to enable, work on any enabled machine, and be easy to use.
Wave is focusing on delivering manageability to three levels of the security and trust marketplace: First, manageability at a client level for individuals, so that users effortlessly consume trust and security solutions at the desktop; second, manageability at a network level so that IT managers can efficiently and cost effectively administrate an enterprise network; and third, delivering on a strategy to make it easy for developers to create exciting new applications. At the client level, Wave has developed and delivered to the market an initial set of business user and enterprise applications and services for the corporate desktop and mobile platforms to help jump start Trusted Computing.
The company has developed the EMBASSY Trust Suite as a core set of secure client applications and infrastructure services that introduce the user to trusted applications in a manner that is intuitive and simple, yet provides tangible value. The suite is capable of directing the IT manager or corporate user to new offerings of secure services as they become available, ensuring that the corporate environment is always providing the greatest level of security and usability to the user community. Secondly, the intuitive and ease of integration for IT management consoles to be added and integrated into the existing business process has been well received.
Wave launched the EMBASSY Trust Suite Professional Edition — a secure software portfolio which is integrated into the Microsoft Office® environment and works on all Trusted Computing Group-compliant secure hardware platforms. The EMBASSY Trust Suite delivers a variety of secure business productivity capabilities in an intuitive, easy-to-understand format. The software is available, for web download or CD, for the retail price of $49.99. Visit www.wave.com/products/ets_pro.html for more information.
When a trusted platform is enabled, it creates secrets, called keys, which protect confidential information. For trusted computing to have greater adoption and deployment, products have a requirement to be able to back-up and recover these keys and move these keys from secure platform to a platform based upon the key “owners” request. Fundamental issues are routinely lost to a user or administrator, such as when the keys and secrets are held within a secure platform, or in the case of hardware failure, the recovery path and capabilities of the platform. Adopting proper security management and policies are a requirement of both the organization that buys Trusted Platforms and users that enjoy the security features.
To address these issues at the both the client and network level, Wave has developed the EMBASSY Trust Client-Server architecture. Wave’s trusted client-server products provide two primary functions to business’s and users that deploy TPM platforms. The first is backup of created TPM keys, and the second is to mange or migrate keys that a user or network administrator would like to recover/move to a new Trusted platform.
The EMBASSY Trust Server architectures includes Key Transfer Manager (KTM) and Attestation Credential Manager (ACM) — essential enablers for managing and determining authenticity of trusted platforms. ACM provides strong authentication or “Attestation” for Trusted platforms or users of a Trusted Platform. The ability to prove Trustworthiness is a next step capability and requirement for Trusted Platforms.

Digital dancer,
welcome to the board. Are you looking for someone to convince you to hold your shares? If you are unhappy about the company or it's performance and you are sick of waiting, why on earth are you holding the stock? If I didn't feel good about the prospects of an investment, I would no longer be invested.
John
I'm sure this has been posted before, but it's still nice to see:
