Its not that Dnap has lost its focus its that the Patent office and the FDA require so much info. it takes time to get. And then time to process, these 2 Dept's are very slow on getting the approval out.
Take a look at Statnome. Tony applyed at the patent office in 7-1-02 figure 3 to 4 years from this filing, thats 2006 for a Patent approval on Statnome {see Twist interview time line}.Then look at Dnap's web site, not till 2005 to begin trials for FDA approval on Statnome and if you search the FDA web site nothing has been done so far with Statnome except one place where Tony talks about it.
So not till 2005 for Patent approval and trials for the FDA.Well each project takes a ave. of 1 year to complete so if your running trials starting in 2005 your not even done with the first trial till 2006,run another trial and now your at 2007 before you can even start to apply for FDA approval. FDA approval alone takes another 2 years on top of that. So say 3 years from 2005 puts us at 2008 for FDA approval. It takes time and the process is a long one but we have Forensics to keep us along the way. Eye color maybe in a few Mo's and Hair color in 2005, just a guess not much else for the rest of the year.Dont feel bad we will get there.2004 will see most of the time Forensics stuff.
jcryan19,we dont want to be ambiguous now w/insipid prattle do we ? LOL
Chris very precocious view. The quintessential nature of their goals {in personalized Medicine} has lead them down a path filled with discovery.Their analytical and assiduous skills are the best in the world.Chris you are a great support here the Sagacity of your posts bring us all confort.Keep up the good work.
chrisbaskett,Yes i agree the Forensics Dept. at Dnap can by it self send us to the moon if we can get eye color,Hair color to the market.
In the early stages of the Ancestryby DNA Tony talked some about 3.0 being a Ethnic affiliation {see a e-mail sent to me below}but that may have changed to eye color and ethnic might be 3.5 perhaps but in any case he is and has been working on BOTH.My feeling is the "Ethnic affiliation test" will be a great block Buster all by it self.To the moon my man.
******,
Thanks - Phil Brooks would also thank you for helping him do his job. We hope to have eye color on the market as soon as validation is passed and we tell our candidate customers that Ancestrybydna 2.0 is the first DNAWITNESS product, and that we intend other DNAWITNESS tests like for ethnic affiliation (not just continental population affiliation - this would be Ancestrybydna 3.0), iris color and hair color will join this one soon.
Carrie Castillo (re: Tony)
jcryan19, OK,i was hoping for some new stuff,pictures-facts and figures, but there are other sources to go to,I'am sure he did his best. Its going to be a Long year ahead. I see only Forensics stuff comming out. We need eye and hair color out,NOW or soon.
Arch, these are old pictures that have already been posted, where are the new ones ? I have these pictures in my personal files from either last year or the year before.
A New Kind of Science: Bioinformatics
The need to make sense of the cold reality of disease and death is as old as mankind itself. Equally old are the questions: Why are some people more susceptible to disease than others? What is the risk that an individual will get a certain disease? How would a person respond to a particular treatment?
Scientists may be getting closer to the answers. In June 2000, researchers announced the first complete sequencing, or ordering, of the human genome-the total genetic content of a human. With this new knowledge, researchers are learning more about disease susceptibility and treatment responses and are working to develop new drugs and vaccines targeted to individuals based on their genetic code.
Along with the excitement generated by the human genome sequencing is an explosion of data about each of the components of the more than 30,000 genes that are expressed by this genome.
"Only a few years ago, we were evaluating a single gene at a time," says Daniel Casciano, Ph.D., director of the FDA's National Center for Toxicological Research. But scientists can now evaluate tens of thousands of genes at the same time in one experiment by using platforms, or microarrays, consisting of many thousands of genes. Unfortunately, different research laboratories use different microarrays, says Casciano. "Comparing data from these different platforms is a big problem. There's a lot of confusion because we don't have standardized tools that would be useful across any platform."
The need for tools to make sense of all the data has spawned a new kind of science: bioinformatics.
"Bioinformatics involves biology, computer science, mathematics, and statistics to analyze biological sequence data, genome content and arrangement, and to predict the function and structure of molecules," says Casciano. Applying bioinformatics, a team of FDA scientists is working to produce a standardized set of tools that will aid in evaluating biological data. Using computer algorithms, statistical models, and visualization and filtering tools, these scientists are screening out information in the genome that isn't useful ("junk DNA"), reducing the data to useful and manageable information, and portraying it in such a way that it can be interpreted by any scientist anywhere.
These tools will help FDA scientists to interpret and evaluate information from different companies, allowing the FDA to rapidly assess the safety of a new drug.
Premarket Notifications (510(k))
At least 90 days before placing a medical device into commercial distribution, a person required to register must submit to FDA a premarket notification, commonly known as a "510(k)." The exception to this is if the device is exempt from the 510(k) requirements of the Act by statute or regulation. In addition to other information concerning the device, e.g., a description of the device, a 510(k) summary or a 510(k) statement, the 510(k) submitter must include information to substantiate that the device is "substantially equivalent" to a legally marketed device that is not subject to premarket approval. A substantially equivalent device is marketed subject to the same regulatory controls as the device to which it is found to be substantially equivalent. A device may not be marketed pursuant to a 510(k) until the submitter receives written clearance from FDA.
Could hector Gomez have something to do with this ?
For your review - http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/ode/annrp296.pdf
Arch, I already have thse pictures in my files from last year,or was it the year before last.LOL, Where are the pictures from this week ?
Dont forget Ancestryby DNA 3.0 on Ethnic affiliation is next. And that will bring in Big Bucks.Ex. Knowing what % of you is Irish or Italian, this also will be out soon.
Tamulonis - Lots going on all over, with Gmed for example. Are time will come.
Patiencepays - that goe's into my favorites.
Thanks Ann.Good info.
There's more but no one seems interested, so, got to go.
More on Dnap & Breast cancer - http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsea...
MattG, Gmed does not have the internal structure to keep the pps upheld,it will go back down.It has a long way to go before it gets FDA approval. Even though the drugs he uses already have FDA approval he still needs the FDA on his treatment.
Lonnie Bookbinder, PhD, MBA to RIBI shareholders at www.rsvc.org
The author of these observations has a thirty-year career in biopharmaceuticals and worked for RIBI from 1994-1997.
As most are aware, the majority of RIBI sales are derived from MPL and other adjuvants, which are refined as a part of a modified bacteria causing a cascading effect of immune responses. RIBI adjuvants, especially MPL, are considered valuable and useful in many different vaccine candidates.
Importantly, to expand the base of knowledge, RIBI scientists initiated research to develop a synthetic adjuvant and have been successful. They have discovered, synthesized, tested and patented a next generation of super adjuvants. Think of these discoveries as a valuable franchise for the future of immunology. RIBI publications note that RIBI's second generation adjuvant technology platform is based on novel AGP- aminoalkyl glucosamine phosphate- adjuvants. These new synthetic compounds display potent bioactivity, possess an excellent safety profile and are amenable to alternative methods for vaccine delivery, such as intranasal delivery. Synthetic AGP compounds also may prove advantageous in ease of formulation, manufacturing scale-up and simplified quality assurance. In the hands of RIBI scientists, AGP's have been successfully used in pre-clinical testing of tetanus, hepatitis and influenza vaccines. RIBI scientists and managers confirm the worth of the AGP product derivatives and vaccine producers want it. There is a very significant potential value in AGP for RIBI.
Hector Gomez MD - Dr. Gomez is well known in the pharmaceutical sector, adding to DNAPrint a rich background in the business and science of pharmacology and the developing field of pharmacogenomics.
He received his M.D. from the National University of Colombia in 1963 and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Marquette University in 1968. In 1973 he also received a diploma in Clinical Pharmacology from Tulane. From 1979-1988, he served as Director and Senior Director of clinical research at Merck/MSDRL, where he was responsible for the clinical development of some of the very first ACE inhibitors (enalapril and lisinopril). From 1988 through 1991, he served as Executive Director of Clinical Research at CIBA-GEIGY Corporation. After a three-year term as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, he became the President and CEO of the newly formed Transcend Therapeutics, Inc., which he successfully led through the Initial Public Offering (IPO) process to a Nasdaq listing and headed that company until 1998. During the interim from 1998 until joining DNAPrint's board, Dr. Gomez has consulted with a number of start-up companies. In 2002, he was added to DNAPrint's board of directors, assuming the Chairman position later in that same year.
"Dr. Gomez brings to DNAPrint his years of successful clinical development expertise, crucial to DNAP's future growth and development. Dr. Gomez and I have worked together in the past, accelerating the development and ultimate approval of pharmaceutical compounds, such as Vertex's product for AIDS, approved and currently being marketed by GlaxoSmithKline.
