or a letter from a congressman!
thanks DMD!
dmd, and do you think all these billions will come back to escrow?
is it on the FDIC website somewhere??
hopefully at least 10B.. which would probably make legacy preferred whole..
and anything on top would be gravy.
now that you mention it, you're right I recall some posters like dmd think there could be 5 digit return / share on each legacy wampq.. which would be astronomical
does this mean that escrow holders of old preferred such as WAMPQ could recovery way more than the $1000 at par they were originally valued at?
that would be nice. just in time for christmas..
after that RS earlier this year even $100 for COOP wouldn't be high enough.. it's got to be in the several hundreds to $1000 for old wamu holders to feel any meaningful...
but yea hopefully the money will go to escrow
and david bonderman bought a hockey team team today in Seattle.. maybe he's getting ready for the WAMU cash out too!
if this is true.. what amount may the "final payment" be?
agreed.
good thing they were heavy in prefs / commons, so at least we ride their coat tails until the end.
assuming there is no back door deal that leaves us retail out in the cold.
yea TPG has been sitting quietly for a decade.. that extra 5% split they agreed will hopefully be significant.
walrath is so weak.
I guess we shouldn't expect anything faster from her after a decade of this.
Ok thanks. Assuming TPG is at least hoping to breakeven, then I guess we can hope they are fighting for us too.
Perhaps the fact they've been very quiet over the past decade may mean they know what is going down behind the scenes.. and same with all the other HF's who released.
what is the break even for bonderman's TPG investment again? around 10 billion? give or take?
maybe more of us should call rosen.
although i'd be interested in hearing what bonderman has to say about the 7 billion he threw into this too..
is her signature one of the last steps before the BK can close.. there are no more claims right?
and why has the bankruptcy case been dragging on still?.. that would be a pertinent question to Rosen.
too bad no one asked Rosen when he plans to get the BK closed..
Yea, unless there's a 8k or some new message on the WMILT website.. then nothing's really changed..
the happenings this morning seem exciting but has the Judge closed the bankruptcy yet?
yes, it's hard to imagine billions of dollars would just be left on the table without a fight. only people who have the ability to challenge for them would be the hedgies who gave releases. hoping they will guide us to the result we so desire.
sure hope so
hopefully the hedgies didn't get some backdoor / 3rd party deal that excludes us retail.
Really hoping walrath signs whatever she needs to soon. Maybe in the next week or two?
This decade long saga really needs to end and she can help see to that. Unless she's just a puppet and big players behind the veil have been manipulating her puppet strings for the past 10 years..
Either way hopefully we will see light at the end or a cliff to fall off.
at least we kind of exist: "lower in the waterfall" although we aren't exactly creditors.
sure hoping you're right DMD!
i think 1/4 or even 1/10 of your estimates would make many happy.
hopefully we see some real light to the end of the tunnel before year's end..
at this point, are we looking forward to any future court dates before the end of the year?
I agree. The R/S has done nothing for us. COOP needs to be like a thousand dollars for any return to be substantial..
so what dates are we looking forward to now? something in December?
we got to be getting close to seeing the BK close I think..
and when is Rosen's 'special distribution'.. to the PIERS?
looks like a bad investment for TPS so far.
but i can't see how they would be willing to take a KO in the chin like this after 10 years.
they must know something is behind the veil or coming down the pipe.. and hopefully the rest of us escrows will be on the same ride.
hopefully you are right. but 20 billion is currently nowhere to be seen.
amazing there are no 'assets in liquidation' on the FDICK site
great thanks for the clarification.
hopefully the veil will be removed soon.
does this mean when the bankruptcy finally closes in the next while, that documents listing these assets and values may suddenly show up?
hopefully something will get paid out. otherwise they should have never given us any escrows all those years ago as seeing them sitting in an account and not knowing if or what they bring has made the pain and wait even more excruciating!
dreaming of at least PAR per PQ!
Didn't rosen say he plans to make a distribution in Nov? Hopefully WMILT at least gets the ball rolling in terms of paying things out as we go along..
Thanks for this. Good read on what may be the path forward to us.
Hopefully the fact some hedgies released too is a positive sign that there will be something at the end of the tunnel for all of us.
haven't listened to Rosen in court for a while, but could one assume he knows exactly what or what is not coming back? if so, it's amazing he's been able to not leak anything for almost a decade.
With the hedge funds who are holding escrows too. Any possibility they could leave us retail (side deal??) in the dust if we do get paid? Or are they in this together with us until the end.
