Tired of holding on tight. Put volume increasing quite a bit and I noticed that the institutions sold a fair amount more than they bought recently. I understand that some of them are forced to sell on occasion but seems like an unlikely time right now.
This is not acting like a can’t miss stock. This is as bad as I’ve felt about this investment in a long time.
Is Missling going to dump some sub par results on the market and then act surprised when we get buried by selling? God I hope not . By delaying the results he has created an atmosphere of the most extreme expectation. All eyes on Anavex now. This is either going to be really good or horrible. For the first time since I’ve owned this stock my gut is telling me the latter.
Was a stall tactic. He’s got no where to hide now. Trials are done for now. If the data release poses too many questions he’s done and I’ve got to believe he knows it. Backed up against a wall. Put up or shut up.
I was trying to think of a timeframe for the data release that would surprise the market. My guess is by September 6th. If he waits too much longer than that it simply looks like a stall tactic.
Let er rip Doc
AF is nothing more than a barking dog on a leash held by his masters. His influence is minimal and continues to wain. The timing of his hit pieces are laughable. Anyone with any degree of sophistication knows they’re Bull#%t.
Someone is very very afraid of AVXL.
They should be…
Over the course of time when you see attack after attack regardless of the news you have to know there’s an agenda to mute the share price. There is a constant effort to create doubt in the minds of people new to the stock about the validity of the company and its drugs. Diversion tactics have been in place on a constant basis here for a long time now. Confirms to me the importance of what we have and the threat it poses to big Pharma.
They have had the upper hand but that will change in an instant. Would love to see a Tesla like short squeeze that breaks their grip and creates massive losses. Not that they will go away but in the future have the memory that they can be crushed again removing the ability to short with impunity.
First of all, most of the Greek Islands are on fire so I doubt he’s there. Beyond that let’s examine your thesis. Yes his communication stinks with shareholders. For what reason I simply don’t know and can’t figure out. But beyond that his future and fortune logically lies with the stock performance so he is on the same side of the table as the shareholders. Yeah he makes a good salary but could probably make as much of more working for some other company without all the headaches, speculation and criticism. His millions of stock options will make him possibly a billionaire so I would look to that as his motivation. I suspect there’s a pretty strong ego there as well so proving he was right couples with the financial aspect. We’re down to the wire here so silence is a good thing in my opinion. No more patchy data, no more unanswered questions. It has to be beyond reproach and no one should know that more than him.
All good points. He certainly put the bullseye on by making a ton of declarations and not following through in a timely manner. Only one way to make it right and that’s to deliver the goods. We’re all pretty saturated with partial results and “it’s just around the corner.”
It seems to me that we are reaching capitulation as far as patience and speculation about what Anavex is truly up to. When it feels like there’s no end in sight, endless nothing, then suddenly there’s something.
For a long time now there’s been no breeze to stir the leaves but I feel the breeze is coming now and I believe it will surprise us all.
Years ago with a clear blue sky and the sun shining in Boulder where I live the wind gusts reached 143 mph when the chinooks came out of nowhere. Blew down every telephone pole in town practically.
It was dead calm the day before…
I’m very happy we’re not there. For one thing every time we report positive results at those Alzheimer’s conferences we get hammered. I think the reason we’re not there is because we’re beyond needing to impress. We’re putting together the total package for approval and don’t have the need or the time to attend AAIC.
Exactly right. The stock options will make Jin rich not his salary. The product has to perform in order to launch the stock. He has seen the data and chose the true thoroughbred.
On a day to day basis it’s easy to get swept up in the negativity of a declining stock price and a company that at times seems to be moving at the speed of snail.
After reading about Dr Jin’s career and his experience with the FDA approval process it seems clear that he chose AVXL because he knew the drug would be approved for multiple CNS diseases. He knew it would be approved because it works and he would be the one designing and completing the NDA. He has so much experience with this process that he could stack the deck in our favor with a minimal chance of failure. After a distinguished career this is his payday and he knows it. Nothing left but to make a boatload of money before he retires and cash the golden ticket.
Even though Missling has a bazillion options, he’s probably pissed that he had to sell a lot more shares to cover the exercise cost plus taxes than he would have 6 months ago. If I was him I’d get it back by burning the A hole shorts to the ground and launching the share price through the roof.
Time for the nukes Doc- Scorched Earth -take no prisoners-No Mercy-Death from above. Mic drop-BOOM!!!
It’s confirmation of what we have. Just keep buying. In the words of Maximus-the time for honoring themselves will soon be at an end. Desperation must certainly be in the minds of some greedy shorts. When this this dam breaks they’ll all drown and there won’t be a dry eye in the house…
Don’t worry, when the price dips below 8 Missling will put out a useless PR that shows he’s aware of the shareholders getting torched yet again to make us all regain faith. NO ONE outside this board believes him anymore. He has delayed his own projected timelines so many times that he has no credibility beyond proving beyond a doubt what he has stated. If what he has said about meeting all endpoints turns out to be false, even if it’s partially true, this stock goes to $2 and the company will be sued to death. I hope to God I’m wrong but every passing day without real news is a negative at this point.
The only certain thing is that at some point he must come clean and he really can’t delay much longer.
It’s a bad deal when a CEO destroys shareholder confidence as he has . Is he just bad at investor relations or is he hiding something. Stay tuned.
Well get ready because it will. At some point Missling will make a lame attempt to shore up the price when it slides below $8 as he always does. Some minimal press release that he thinks shows he’s “aware “ that his investors are getting torched again.
Nothing until the fall and I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes below 7 before that. I sold half at just under $10 when it spiked last week and I’m really glad I did. I have stops in at 7 but if this drops below 8 I’m out for now.
Not sure why the constant delays with this company but with the MM’s always working to take this down and no news there’s only one way for this to go for now.
We have to get a partnership to ensure our future approvals. My greatest fear is that Missling overplays his hand thinking there’s no way he can be denied approval on his own and we don’t put together a partnership to ensure that happens.
When 11 of 12 advisors voted against approving the Biogen Alzheimer’s drug and the FDA ignored it as though they didn’t exist I realized the depth of corruption we are dealing with. If we have a partner who is constantly dealing with the FDA , has its tentacles everywhere in Congress and can pressure the FDA to do the right thing, we will prevail. The stakes can’t get any higher. Yes, we will probably have to give up a little more than we want to but 100 % of nothing is still nothing so make the move and we cross the finish line.
Keep gazing because he’ll never cross it. Some guys are great administrators and good at putting a company in position to win but can’t finish. A man’s got to know his limitations and Missling thinks he can do it all.
He can’t .
I sold half my core shares on Friday when it reversed after hitting 10. Went short for 5,000 and sold half at 9.07 and covered the rest at 8.59. Just got tired of waiting on this guy. I’m calling him Godot from now on. Felt really good to be on the right side of the trade.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Missling can’t deliver this stock. He can get it close to the goal line but can’t score. I can just feel it. I think he’s real comfortable making a big salary and getting a bunch of options but will never realize major gains on those unless he takes a step back and allows someone else to take control. Unless there’s a partnership or the new chairman takes over the day to day operations we will wait until our position erodes and destroys the real potential of this stock. Stops are in on my remaining shares at 7. Will still make a nice profit at that price but seriously feel with him at the helm we will miss our real opportunity. TIC TOCK
Sounds like good news from the ASM but no data coming anytime soon. As I said a few weeks ago, this is dead money until fall when we will get some final Alzheimer’s results and the ball really gets rolling. Until then I doubt we get any real price increase and will stay right around $10 or less. Shorts will cover most of what they need to by then. Would’ve been nice to burn them but not in the cards I’m afraid.
Just one time if he under promised and over delivered he’d have people eating out of his hand. I very much hope someone gives him an earful if we get nothing by the meeting and once again he says it’s coming soon or just around the corner. Can’t imagine even he would believe what’s coming out of his mouth. Poor way to deal with people who have had your back for so long. I’m ready for an A Bomb. Time to deliver the goods Doc. Put up or shut up.
There was no bad news on the call as far as I could tell. This is however, dead money until sometime this fall I think. As usual he over promised and is under delivering on timelines. You would think he would be aware of the effect this has on shareholders but nevertheless continues along the same course. Under promise and over deliver just once please.
At this point I don’t give a rats ass as long as he delivers the goods. Have a great summer!!
Six months since December 2nd and not a peep. Hard not to doubt him when he continually uses phrases like “soon”, “right around the corner, etc. Causes massive expectations and when the data does come out and it’s always late, feels like an afterthought. Incomplete, and vague in many aspects causing people to think what the hell have they been doing to take so much time and then release this.
He HAS to know that crap won’t fly anymore. Even the staunchest supporters are pissed. If they don’t come out with something very affirming by the shareholders meeting this is going to get ugly real fast.
When you say Missling created this I couldn’t agree more. It’s been a pattern for a long time but won’t fly anymore and I believe he’s acutely aware of this. He has to be or he’s been living in a cave.
No more smoke screens, or incomplete data. The change in chairmanship is a big deal. There is oversight now and he’s really needed that for some time.
Anavex will be on center stage very soon and they can’t blow it. My gut tells me this will end well for us but not as well as some have predicted. 100% of nothing is still nothing and that’s where the partnership comes in to get us to profitability and insure our future.
I think you’re right about the giant in the making, however after listening to him today I think he basically telegraphed that it’s going to be awhile before we get full data and peer reviewed paper.
He always says it’s right around the corner perhaps because he believes it, but after so many delays in the past you’d think he’d under promise and over deliver. Don’t think he’s grasped that concept yet.
It would seem to me that the FDA has a gun to their head which they placed there by approving Biogens drug which turned out to be a disaster. Reasoning was that nothing existed to treat Alzheimer’s so anything with even a glimpse of efficacy was better than nothing. Enter the EU and Australia. Europe will approved this before the FDA if they drag their feet. Imagine them trying to explain how a New York based company with a very promising, safe drug had to go to Europe first.
There’s little confidence in the FDA to begin with and this would be the last nail. If you think politics doesn’t play into this then I can’t help you. Even as corrupt as they are it seems to me they would have to act or suffer another 10 times greater humiliation. I think we’re in a much better position than many of you believe.
I think that has to be the case. It’s not like she didn’t have the option of walking away from the chairman position. With a reputation like hers to protect she would never do this unless it was all systems “go.” She has seen the data for herself and knows where this is going. Common sense dictates we must have something special.
Now I’m a little concerned about Missling being replaced. Was this done in advance of a partnership or was this done because the directors realized he misstated things and they’re covering their a##. Trying to view this as a positive but maybe not the best news. I guess we’ll find out soon. Pretty sure it has to be positive though because otherwise Missling would be gone entirely.
This reminds me of late last year when we were kept waiting for trial results forever and when they were released it was the usual incomplete data, vague in many respects and of course torn apart by AF and his legions. There’s a pattern that keeps repeating and we expect it to change. I think now it won’t . Either the drug is nowhere as effective as he says it is and these delays and botched results become smoke screens for the truth or he’s simply inept and should be replaced immediately. Either way he should not be running this company at this critical time in our development.
These results from the AD trial should not take this long and I think everyone if they are being honest knows that to be true.
Missling has got to know there’s a massive amount of resentment toward him right now. If George is your only cheerleader you’ve got trouble, and I’ll bet even he has a voodoo doll with long hair that he sticks everyday even though he would never admit it. He HAS to come out with something of substance before the shareholders meeting this time or it will get ugly. He may just be deluded enough to think it won’t. Good luck with that. People are stretched paper thin here and they’re done with the usual BS. Something has to give.
He needs to be torched at the ASM if no data release before then. Someone needs to absolutely get up in his face and confront him about all the missed timelines the unnecessary secrecy and the fact that he’s running the company like he owns it with little or no communication with the other owners, which would be us.
He’s been thrown nothing but softballs for as long as I can remember and Clemens needs to buzz his head with a 98 MPH fastball to show him we mean business. The way he reacts to confrontation will speak volumes. If he avoids a response we’re done for and this is a sham. If he owns it and gives a plausible response maybe we’ve got a shot.
I ran a public company for a number of years. Never did I treat shareholders like this jerk does. Obviously there are many material things that can’t be disclosed but there’s a way of conveying that and still keeping shareholders apprised of what’s going on in general. It’s akin to customer service. The # 1 gripe of customers is lack of communication and rightfully so. We’re all on this journey together and he needs to recognize that. Many of us have been here for 7 or 8 years supporting this company with our $$$$ and watching the company grow and finally be able to raise money on their own now. Perhaps he doesn’t care now because we’re not as important as we once were when the stock was at a quarter. From what I can see from his actions that seems to be the case.
They don’t have to pay to keep this off the market. Just let Missling keep sleepwalking to the finish line is all they need to do. He’s their greatest ally for sure. I’m incredibly sick of his inept leadership. Get us an activist investor and then we’ll get rid of him. Maybe the one time he would need the support and votes of the common shareholders. Good luck with that Chris.
Not one time have they ever put out a completely comprehensive press release on trial data that left no loose ends. After years of this and the stock being pummeled EVERY time, one would think this would be apparent to them. The one time Anavex broke out and ran there was no news, just SAVA going parabolic and taking us with them. Clearly this is not well thought out and everyone who has been here for any length of time knows this is true. It’s juvenile, frustrating and highly unprofessional. Get your sh#%t together AVXL.
Yeah they are taking advantage of us again but we have a CEO who tees it up for them. Pretty smug of Missling to not inform shareholders of the Covid delay. He assumes it’s alright not to communicate with your base on important issues and he couldn’t be more wrong about that. We spend months wondering what the hell happened to the OLE data and now we know. We have no market makers supporting us and giant BP against us so this is what you get. I honestly think this stock would double if they announced he was stepping down and for no other reason. He gets to play house with a crapload of $$$ so what’s the rush? Keep piling up options and move at a snails pace.We need to partner up as that in essence would remove him from the helm. I’m done with him as a leader. No urgency and that is a huge mistake.
Just a question for the board. Has anyone been in touch with IR lately? I sent them an email and have not gotten a response. Not customary for them.
The endless delays here have worn extremely thin on everyone to the extent where I find myself wondering if Missling can ever get this over the goal line. We get bits and pieces of everything but never a full comprehensive readout that is irrefutable. The market right now remains unconvinced and so the shorts reign supreme. It will stay that way until he changes their mind. Not sure anymore if he’s the one who can get that done. I still own stock in this company that I bought 7 years ago and sitting on big profits but thinking it may be time to go… No confidence in Missling anymore and that’s a hard thing to get around. I find myself wondering if he ever sees this from our perspective or just reacts defensively when the endless inquiries to IR keep coming. If he were me would he believe? Probably should ask yourself that question Chris and move quickly so that you can answer “yes” to that very important question.
If the data sucked there’s no way we get the lead biostatistician from the FDA to come on board 3 months later. I get it you’re frustrated but think about it. He would be committing career suicide not to mention the fact that now he’s an accomplice to fraud if what you’re saying is true.
His whole life is numbers and I guarantee you he didn’t take Misslings word for it.
I get the frustration because I feel it too. Agonizing now for some time. I would however direct your attention to what has changed. I honestly believe we are very close now. There was a time when if anyone wrote an article about Anavex it was negative. Recently sites like motley fool, who I detest, have started praising us. Almost everyday someone comes out with a new price prediction and the consensus is strong buy.
The volume has recently picked up again and based on the trading I don’t think there is any question the shorts are covering. It has been deathly quiet for some time except for some hiring news. Anavex is in Paris and now in Australia. As someone said I doubt they made the trip to Australia for a small conference.
Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think so. Something big is imminent. I think within a month we’ll know.
I really think there’s some serious covering going on. Today is the perfect day to walk it down. Something tells me this time it’s different, though. The pros know they don’t have much time left to play with this.
It would seem logical that there may have been competition from others to see who might land our new hire. If that’s the case and he wound up with us after assessing the other companies that would be an excellent endorsement in my opinion. No one would have understood the data and our chances for approval/ success more than him.
