I would not argue with that much at all.
Canopy has been gathering some valuable IP over the last few years. But not really much else in the way of U.S. value. pretty frustrating.
I did not think the hangover from the bump in early february-march would be this bad. breaking the 100-day was an eye opener.
It is possible to fill the gap to $15. But why? This stock has ABSOLUTLY NEVER TRADED ON FUNDAMENTALS. and the news on cannabis has never been better.
*AZ legal
*NJ legal
*NY legal
*VA legal
*NM legal
All over the last two months. With schumer holding a bill on federal action ready to drop. If this fills the gap. it is manipulation. plain and simple.
The future has never looked better. and the stock has never looked worse. Ready for a head jerking turn up? I would think so. That makes the hedge funds the most. and without institutional funds. Hedge funds and small family offices will continue to whipsaw this stock with news and timed buys.
O my goodness. Look at that. But it only leaves one question in mind.
Now what?
bleed bleed bleed.
down to zero on a lead balloon. Wooooo!
so. It bounced off of C$35. all hail the mighty chart. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
NoW WhAt?
I'm starting to have serious concern about the market share in the U.S. being captured by curaleaf and how this is going to effect acreages ability to function. With the north east being the key entry point for canopy to the US. I thin they are going to have a hard time beating them.
CGC buyout of curaleaf would be a killshot to the tilray/aprhia merger. Keeping market share and market position on both sides of the boarder.
Otherwise I see Canopy floundering in the north. Waiting on an extraction patent lawsuit outcome.
never been so close to dumping some shares based on management decisions.
I am scratching my head as well.
The supreme brand in the US is popular with the same kids who like to smoke . Could be a popular name brand in the US quickly. The "Supreme" retail brand is well known and they could piggyback off of this brand awareness.
Genetics were mentioned as well. Canopy has been purchasing companies based on proprietary and patented IP over the last few years. Some of the only comments out of Klein have been along the lines of not purchasing capacity. But purchasing IP.
If you look at the release. Genetics are mentioned a few times. Supreme has the names that AMERICANS WANT. no one south of the boarder eats gravy on fries or knows what the he11 "houndstooth" or "bakerstreet" is. Those names may carry weight in the Pacific north west. But no where else.
DNA genetics has been stingy with Canopy.
Owning Supreme is a really good play for strain expansion. Especially with the Ebbu patented tech that can allow for unlimited cloning.
But son, that is alot of cash to lay out for that. like wow cash. US must be coming this year or it just doesn't add up.
tuned you should stay
An acquisition like this marks a low point in the market. Canopy obviously had this in the works for a while. And chose to pull the trigger now. With the canna stocks down from their March highs.
This could point to an upturn in the market from here. No one likes to pay a premium. And this purchase* is aptly timed.
*I'm not really on board with this. That's a lot of money to lay out for a smaller brand. I would have been more impressed if they knocked off their branding with a similar brand and competed successfully on price. But oh well.... welcome to the Fam Supreme.
what in the what? purchase supreme? what?
This is likely to continue. I did not think that canopy would be buying up brands. I do not see many good reasons to buy supreme.... It was one of the more affordable names. Probably more to come.
stay tuned
legal market = legal president to sue everyone still doing it from the 60's for licensing fees with a patent.
It will be a new ballgame. Where the feds side with Canopy.
stopping extraction? Exactly the opposite. PUSH IT TO THE MAX and then sue for licensing fees and royalties.
And then undercut everyone else's licensing fee price inflated products with your own.
its happened in every developing industry since the revolution. Just a few patents make the kings.
yea man. Kraft cheese. they don't own cheese. just the cheese making process.
That is what Canopy will need to survive. I'm not holding a bag. been here a good long time. If you take my comment as a positive reflection of the companies current state. You would be mistaken. Not many corps survive waiting on a pending lawsuit.
lawsuit with GW Pharma carries more weight than legalization in my opinion.
Legalization will come. But the patent on extraction is where the real money is. Don't just make cheese. Be Kraft cheese. Big difference.
New York handing the cannabis game to the black market.
Get ready for the crime surge.
This is my favorite time.
The gut hurts, stock falling for no reason time. buy a few. wait. buy a few. wait. buy a few.
And then WHAM! news of the "social justice" *cough* "big corp cannabis" bills coming along. and were back on top.
The branding as a "meme stock" really irks me as a long time holder. This label will hurt CGC more than the market conditions will. Until new bills come to light.
All of the writeoffs taken in the last Q. Should set this up to be a real bell-rigner.
If Biden comes forward with his decriminalization plan. I bet we see GCG twist the right screws and show a profitable quarter. They sure as hell took a hit last Q. And the stock price didn't even blink.
Shutting facilities and limiting stock options will show up this next quarter. As well as increased sales with stores opening again in January.
The pressure now is from institutions making their purchases pre-federal announcement. Some people may say "reddit crowd" and "meme stocks" but this tone is just trying to temper the 10bagger we are currently holding.
Look no further than curaleaf for that acquisition. If CGC bought or merged with curaleaf, they would have the northeast locked down. And a global presence.
trying to parse out if this is a bull flag on the SAFE ACT being reintroduced. We have seen a real bounce the last two trading days. INteresting.
Excellent terms too. No debt device payments until 2026. Wow. Good good. That new finance and Investor relations team deserves a raise. That's a lot of free time to invest.
No comments on the SAFE Act being reintroduced I. The house today and senate next week. Cannabis banking in the pipeline. Should see a pop before this hits the big-boy headlines this weekend

The DEMs are really pushing legislation quickly. Would not be surprised to see draft legislation on "social justice reform" *cough* "legalizing weed for big corporations" *cough* come out this month.
March - April will be a slow roll until this comes out.
LETS SEE WHERE THIS GOES!
snoop in the corona commercials is excellent. Reminds me of the partnerships that constellations brands has.
Virginia legal
Cows don't milk themselves I suppose
That you have access to the OTC Canadian markets? And can pickup shares before they uplist in the US? most big boy firms (fidelity) give this access to us retail traders.
Taxes will level the playing field for a long time in my opinion. Just like Canada. Government props up the industry as needed
Tariffs will keep Columbia and Mexico out. Central America will not be allowed to compete in the the north American market.
Gov. Will prop itself up.
I saw a number of articles come out today about the agreements with Terrascend and Rivers and how this "opened a pathway to the US" for Canopy.
I think this is a pop off of some carefully worded headlines. When there has been no word of any movements. Just the confirmation of warrants that have been in place for some time.
woah nelly.
I forgot about the good news immediate disaster narrative. RIDE THE COASTER!
The quorum being held monday should be significant for NJ. All signs point to the current bill being signed.
THE CURRENT BILL WILL ALLOW OPERATING MEDICAL DISPENSARIES TO BECOME RECREATIONAL!
CURLF will have a very good situation in the garden state. Which is known for red tape and corruption. The barriers to entry in this market are going to be huge. and CURLF will have the time to setup shop as the biggest operator in a gov monopoly.
