I hope you realize that was a tongue in cheek question - I may be stupid, naive, and old but I'm not dumb! :)

Best wishes to all on this board for a Happy & Prosperous New Year! Let's all hope that 2009 is better than 2008. And lest I forget, Go Nits!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Btw, Hoagie - what's an XBox360? Is that something like Pong? ;)
Don't know if you may have seen it but there was a real nice piece on coach Carroll on 60 Minutes last Sunday. They highlighted his outside work with young kids.
Yep, I'm certainly glad that's out of the way for awhile. I'm sure it's no coincidence that on the same day Va. H.S. QB Kevin Newsome announced his commitment to PSU:

Newsome was previously committed to Michigan - oops. Sorry, Ksquared. ;) j/k
I quite imagine many of us were excellent players when we were 4, altho from my standpoint, it's hard to remember that long ago. ;)
Have fun @ the game tomorrow & what should be another Titan win. The Steelers have a big one with Baltimore. I'm not feeling real positive about that one but they have surprised me before this season so we'll see.
Johnny U, yet another Western Pa. superstar QB! Yep, I always liked 'em too. I like the Colts & the Titans also - it's so nice to see Kerry Collins having such a good year even tho it's @ the expense of another very good QB who you might favor a little more than I. <g>
Good luck to Colt tonight! So what do we watch & talk about until January? Go Steelers, for me. <g>
I didn't realize that. I was curious about his whereabouts now:
Griffin is currently the President of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. He is also the current spokesman for the Wendy's High School Heisman award program. Formerly, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for The Ohio State University. Griffin is a favorite interview for broadcasters during slow moments in football coverage due to his generosity with his time and his humble and friendly demeanor.
Griffin is one of two Ohio State Heisman winners to be on a losing Super Bowl team. The second is Eddie George. George and the Titans lost to the Rams in the 2000 Super Bowl.
Griffin also serves on the Board of Directors for Motorists Insurance which has offices in downtown Columbus
It appears he has stayed in the Columbus area.

I've often thought that Vegas should be given the job of ranking the teams to remove the obvious bias involved in the polls. Interesting that oddsmakers would give the title to USC in an 8 team play-off:
Florida the BCS Title Game Favorite, But USC Would Win College Football Playoff, According to BetOnline.com Odds Makers
Trojans Favored in Hypothetical Eight-Team BCS Playoff
Last update: 1:19 p.m. EST Dec. 8, 2008PANAMA CITY, Panama, Dec 08, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- According to BetOnline.com -- the No. 1 online Sportsbook in the world -- Florida is the favorite to win the 2008-09 BCS National Championship, while USC (Rose), Alabama (Sugar), Texas (Fiesta) and Virginia Tech (Orange) are the early picks to win each of the four BCS bowls.
But with the college football masses, and the President Elect, clamoring for a NCAA pigskin postseason, the odds makers at BetOnline.com took it a step further in 2008.
Handicappers from the site put odds to a potential eight-team bracket following Sunday's announcement of the final BCS rankings, pitting No. 1 Oklahoma against No. 8 Penn State, No. 2 Florida against No. 7 Texas Tech, No. 3 Texas against No. 6 Utah and No. 4 Alabama against No. 5 USC in a winner-take-all Elite Eight of college football's finest.
March Madness, meet December Derby.
Here's a look at the odds for each matchup in a bracket loaded with intrigue:
2008-09 BCS EIGHT-TEAM PLAYOFF (favorites advance)
Quarterfinals Semifinals Championship Champion
No. 1 Oklahoma (-9.5)
No. 8 Penn State
No. 1 Oklahoma
No. 4 Alabama No. 5 USC (-2.5)
No. 5 USC (-7) No. 5 USC (-2)
No. 2 Florida No. 5 USC
No. 3 Texas (-14)
No. 6 Utah No. 3 Texas
No. 2 Florida (-4)
No. 2 Florida (-14.5)
No. 7 Texas Tech
In the BetOnline.com bracket, USC -- despite finishing No. 5 in the final BCS standings -- would win the 2009 BCS National Championship as less than a field goal favorite against No. 2 Florida in the BCS National Championship.
"Flat out, college football needs a playoff," said BetOnline.com odds maker T.J. Kendrick. "The fact that USC is the favorite to win a BCS title they won't even have a shot at this season really sheds light on one of the many flaws the current BCS structure presents. The best team may not win the national title because of a computer."

Atta girl!
Lol! It's been so cold around here lately we gotta burn something! <g>
Thanks, Ksquared.
Much appreciated. Considering both defenses, it should be a very low scoring game with mistakes being the key.
I see that Joe hopes to be back on the sideline - so we got that going for us. <g>
So, it looks like "it's just you and me, kid". I see you're favored by 10 right now - we got ya right where we want ya. ;) The Trojans hadn't better think they are playing Ill. or Ohio State this time. I feel comfortable saying that it will be a competitive game.
Seriously, best of luck and may the team with the eldest coach win! <g>
“There eventfully gets to be an expectation that no one is ever satisfied,” he said.
That's an interesting statement from someone that jumped from Michigan State to LSU to Alabama in a few short years.
Sounds like a plan to me!
Fine & dandy, thank you. Not to worry, given the same set of circumstances, we would all be hoping for the same thing. <g>
Wondering or hoping? ;)
Huh, I thought those were political promises. <g>
Lol!
I could buy 6 of my brand for that price! <g> Now tell the truth, you're patiently awaiting the arrival of "Eau De Longhorns".
Whoever came up with this obviously didn't attend the Iowa game this year:
Smell like Penn State for $60

I can't tell if this is really cool or really, really weird, but a fragrance developer in Pennsylvania has produced a perfume and a cologne that capture the "essence" of Penn State's team colors, Blue and White.
Harrisburg-based Masik Collegiate Fragrances developed the scents. The company said the Penn State perfume exudes vanilla, lilac, rose and white patchouli, while the cologne smells of blue cypress and cracked pepper vapor. The 3.4-ounce bottles cost $60.
The company says the unique scents are based on "school colors, campus flowers and trees" and other features.
Apparently the company already made a perfume and a cologne for North Carolina (hmmm, Tar Heels don't exactly sound too aromatic) and plans to do the same for six other colleges next year. So if you're really stumped for a Christmas gift, this might be an option.
So they give a #2 ranking to a team that has given up 25 pts. or more in 7 games this year. I don't think the computers know what defense is. Granted they still won 6 of those games but still.....something ain't right.
It'll be interesting to see who the 2 were that voted OK. #1.
That would be kinda funny. <g>
That's what it looks like.
Basser, where are you? We need some input & clarification here! <g>
Now I'm really confused. Lol! How can that be if UCLA upsets the Trojans - slim to none imo, but still a possibility.
All this reminds of those questions on the SAT about the 2 trains going different speeds and where they may intersect! <g>
Lol!
But if USC is the Pac 10 champion now it says that no bowl can pick a replacement of another "host team" bowl? Am I not reading something correctly? Keep in mind that I'm only on my 2nd cup this morning. <g>
I suppose there could be some "what if" scenario that could change that but here is what Wikipedia says:
In 2002 and 2006, the Rose Bowl game was also the BCS National Championship Game. In the current BCS alignment, the Rose Bowl will host the designated Big Ten and Pacific-10 conference representatives unless they are involved in the national championship game. Rose Bowl game representative teams from the Big Ten and Pacific-10 conferences are chosen by the specific rules for each conference. Tiebreaker rules exist when multiple teams tie for the conference championship.
Of course, the Boise State scenario could happen if USC plays for the NC but at this point I don't think that's a possibility based on the results yesterday.
Like someone else mentioned, I was under the impression that if neither the Big Ten nor Pac 10 champion was playing for the NC, then they would play in the Rose Bowl. That's the part that has me confused.
Considering the fact that the bowls were designed to bring commerce to the areas involved, it really doesn't make sense for USC to play in the Rose Bowl - I don't imagine many fans book a room when traveling across town. On the other hand, how many people from Idaho will travel for the game? How many people live in Idaho? ;) Not sure how well they traveled for the Fiesta Bowl 2 years ago so I could be very wrong about that.
No rain or freezing rain just yet but there is a warning out until 6PM tonight. I was in New York State yesterday & they had about a foot of snow on the ground where I was but was told that 20 min. away there was 5 ft. accumulated! I can't imagine going thru that every year. Lake Erie is the pits! Lol!
Boise State? Where the heck did that come from? Actually, that could work out for both PSU & USC. Gives the Trojans a change of scenery and a chance to play someone ranked higher & gives PSU a chance to win. ;) Under that scenario, the Buckeyes lose out (probably justified) and so does Texas Tech (probably a little sad with the season they've had).
So now we wait to see what the computers do to Texas. My guess is they get hosed - unfortunate but it's the reality. I guess even the computers are impressed by "routs". I'm still hoping you squeeze in there tho.
I didn't miss it. <g>
Sorry to see the Titans go down yesterday. I was hoping that they would still be undefeated when they play the Steelers in a few weeks. It still should be an interesting match-up tho.
I really thought Maryland would do much better Sat. night. & N.C. was a real shocker.
Lol! However, the operative word there is "eventually". ;)
Agreed. But I was soooooo warm. <g>
I think it was just an agony of defeat kind of thing. ;) Actually, he does have an obvious point. However, is a conference like the PAC 10 any better this year? Or the Big East? And even your ACC - they are all pretty good or all not so good. I'm not sure which. I guess we have to wait & see how the bowls play out.
Are you afraid of us, basser? ;) No, I understand completely your point of view. However, for much of the same reasons, I'm hoping Ore. State loses on Sat. I'd rather play you guys than play a rematch against a team we already thumped. But, whatever happens, happens.
