Bear, nice to know they have a full complement of two that they can evaluate.
Also A-T solutions has a comprehensive engineering dept. To fix problems that are found during testing. Possibly parts are being used for modifications. BIB1 mod1. Or BIB1 mod2, etc.
Regards
Turbodog, IMO, we are headed in the right direction and are moving slowly, step by step.
Regards, Bagelboy
Nice, Indy, thanks for the insight.
Indy, thanks. Much appreciated on all levels.
Regards.
Indy, the Ohio LTA UAS Consortium was formed in August to foster development of Argus. Should the stockholders be looking for any news or updates or progress reports coming from this group?
Regards, Bagelboy.
Indy, share your same concerns about this info and low res photo.
If Tao did get to 65,000 Ft., congrats but haven't we heard this before?
Reminder; It's October and it's Octoberfest time in Stuttgart! Just saying... All IMO.
Acumen, thanks for the review. I believe you painted the picture quite whimsically. Well done and peace with you also.
tcr, I understand what you are saying. What I meant; Is there money in the bank for salaries? Did they have other pay options or was taking stock options the only way employees could be payed?
Don't want to confuse the issue. Regards.
tcr, You said " the execs took stock options instead of salaries".
Did they have a choice?
Trashboy, now that we are strolling down memory lane what was the name of the Polish prince that was COB back in the day. I can't remember.
After trying to piece together the list of COB's we have had, I am thinking it might be better to leave that position open for a while if you know what I mean.
I think the company would be better off if Glenn wore both hats. jmho.
Congrats to Glenn Estrella, Kevin Hess, and Company.
Indy, you are really reaching on this one but I hope you are right. We all need redemption. Laissez les bon temps rouler for us all.
Sami, thanks for your explanation.
The reasoning behind my mention of the use of a roots blower for ballast adjustment at very high altitude lies in their use to pump vacuum chambers to very low vacuum.
For example,in pumping down a chamber to a very low vacuum, you would use mechanical pumps followed by roots blowers followed by diffusion pumps.Roots blowers move low density air well. The accumulation of this low density air would take place in the ballast bag.Of course these blowers would be relatively small to conserve weight.
You could be right concerning the use of small jet engines for this accumulation task and the power you would generate would be very welcome. Regards.
Sami, great synopsis and list of what this consortium is involved in but is jet engine technology needed to provide an accumulator for air to fill the ballast bags? Wouldn't a blower ( high speed roots blower)do the job? Don't know the physics involved here, just asking. Regards.
Indy, congrats. It looks like a very competent team has been put together to further development of the Argus. Keep building!
Thank you Glenn et al for not giving up on the vision.
IJO, you talk about device miniturization as a driving force behind these emerging markets for the WSGI product line. Without violating your NDA, could you address this topic as it concerns the size of vehicles ( UAV's ) contemplated for production by WSGI.For example, Argus ( STS-111 ) is 111 feet long. With payload reduction resulting from miniturization are we looking at a 50 foot Argus, 25 foot Argus, 10 foot Argus?? In other words what is the economy of scale resulting from payload miniturization? TIA.
IJO, Thanks for the insight and I agree completely with your two points. Possibly they should have been voiced earlier so that progress could have been accelerated.Hindsight judgements are easy to make. Kudos to Eastcor and G.V. for all the work they have done in positioning WSGI for the future.
IJO, very interesting read. Scary but interesting.
If , as the article states that the military/industrial complex is slowly merging into the homeland security/ border patrol complex, is this a positive or negative for companies like WSGI?
Predators have had a proven performance record overseas as excellent war fighting machines and as the article states they have been used for some time now in border patrol here in the U. S. with only limited success at best.So why double the number of predators in the Homeland Security arsenal? Now with Generals running this program and with this limited success, how soon before these unarmed predators become armed? A very disturbing thought for border patrol IMO.
Indy, thanks for posting the article ( Ohio, Indiana test site team ). The area is so rich in aviation history, and resources.
With Wright-Patterson so close it would appear it is a no-brainer for selection by the FAA.
Indy, thanks for sharing. That's encouraging to see WSGI slides at a presentation. One step at a time.
WW, wait a minute. The army lost the BIB while testing, right. This may be a good thing. Sell them one or two more. Sounds like they need more testing time to get the hang of it.
Warp, regarding the last paragraph of your post, it seems you have gained knowledge over time and I am happy for you. Thanks for being here.
Baghdad Bob,I kinda agree with you in getting the Argus in front of the public, but it is a double-edged sword ,meaning the DOD probably wouldn't be too happy about it.
There are at least two audiences, military, and commercial. The prudent thing to do is to be patient and let the military put it into service after testing and contracts and it appears we are half way there at this time.
Of course another way would be to dust it off, Heliumize it ( pump it up ) and let it fly up and down I-95 for a week or two.
That would surely get everyone's attention. Maybe a strategy somewhere between patient waiting and showboating would be in order. just IMO.
Indy, thanks for posting the article. It appears to me that Argus 1 should be taken out of the hangar, dusted off and flown more.
I know that takes personnel, and money, etc., etc. but it should be a prioty if this report has any meaning. IMO.
Indyjonesohio, no complaints here about Company communication.
Actions speak louder than words.
You mention:
Task Saturation...Meaning the Co. is too busy to p/r fluff?
Legacy Issues... Meaning in the past there was too much fluff?
DOD restrictions...Meaning there shall be NO fluff, only substance and if we say that info is classified you can't p/r it?
(edit)
All IMHO.
Warp, thanks, and yes all of the above for sure. It looks like if I don't get hit by a bus or a beer truck in the next few weeks my dreams will come true for me and all of us. Go wsgi.
Warp, thanks a lot. Sometimes I think the waiting is what keeps me going. I am determined to see it through before I depart. LOL
Go wsgi.
Mad, if I could ask a follow up question of Indy from your remarks; Indy, do you have an opinion on the most advantageous test site as far as WSGI is concerned? If you have given an opinion before , I must have missed it or you may not want to commit since you are so close to the situation. Just asking..
Sami, I like the Storm also. A four wheeler that burns jet fuel has to be cool. A BIB self contained unit being transported behind the Storm would make a nice complement.
Rattle, thanks for adding the specifics of the deal which I just lumped under money. I believe you are correct in saying that more time is needed to determine the worth of the acquisition.
Sami, thanks for the treatise on GTC/WSGI synergy.Outstanding.
I stand corrected as this all started on Leinwand's watch. Clark obviously finished the deal IMO.
Three words jump off the page in the first p/r you referenced " surrogate ground station " referring to the STS-111/ Argus. So am I safe in assuming that the imputus behind the acquisition derived from the surrogate ground station? Interesting.
Thanks WW. So you are saying that GTC is supplying legitimacy to WSGI.
Since the topic of mergers and acquisitions has been revisited again today, I would like to explore the one acquisition that has taken place, the GTC acquisition.
I am assuming that Mike Clark, the master of M&A's, engineered the deal. What benefits did he see for doing this deal? Have they or will they materialize in the near future? What benefits did both sides realize and if both sides had it to do over again would it happen again. At the time some money and rights to the Skysat ( remember the SkySat? ) changed hands. That's about the only tangibles I remember. Asking for opinions here that anyone would like to espouse.
IMO, David and Glenn have a good working relationship which is a positive and a ground station contract would be a huge positive but again, IMO, it appears the Satcomm end is lagging and needs serious improvement.
Indy, count me in. Question: Do you need clearance to put one of these up, like from the FAA or since it is an aerostat (tethered ), none would be required?
Indy, a demo sounds like fun and with a picnic even more fun!
Easton airport would be perfect. I will bring the lunch and Acumen can bring the beer.Regards.
Indy, good luck with your meetings. Waiting to hear about Satcomms. As they say, " Enter to learn, go forth to serve ".
Mr. bigsky, maybe under this CCR requirement as stated, the "currency of your information" has changed and is in the process of being updated. ie. possibly the number of units ordered has increased.
Indy, thanks for being here. Hope the partnership works out for all concerned. We need GTC contracts, BIB contracts, Argus contracts, and anything else we can sell.
And a Happy New Year to all.
Bagelboy
