ram; I feel your pain... Like when Kurt Warner or Larry Fitzgerald retired. For acute cases of depression, I would say Bourbon works best. Vascepa is better for chronic depression. You my friend have an acute case. Maybe even a couple doobers to go along with that bottle of Ol Grandad.
Nice, thanks DMC. At least they didn't refer to Vascepa as "Fish Oil" like our institutions of Higher Learning (U of W) did in the BRAVE study.
These kids.... :D(
Dang Ram; whathca gonna do now? Aaron Donald was a Monster. There goes the Rams Defense. To replace him there's team chemistry to think about.
You know what really irks me about the negativity surrounding this stock buyback? Companies do this all the time, especially small caps.
In order to provide incentives perhaps? which no one really knows wtf Amarin will do with the “unretired” shares. Sell them later for a profit perhaps? Who’s saying that the management will be lining their pockets with these shares?
All this mumbo jumbo sounds like a short attack strategy spreading rumors is being perpetrated by none other than the big brokerage firms.
Please Show me where it says anything about the shares being used for employee incentives or executive compensation?
Why not think of it this way. It’s a very good idea to take 50-60 million shares off the market. Hold them until such time that the market recovers (thanks to Biden). Then sell the shares, just like a good investor would do?
What happened to “Denner We Trust?”
Hoopster; the only part I believe is your Biden statement…that was “spot on”
A little bit irritated are we? That Amarin is making some moves to recapture the US market with the LR-EPA? Say it isn't so Batman.
Didn't see that coming.... So, where's the shareholder value? It's comin round the bend sweetheart.
Can't wait to hear from the peanut gallery about the "Executive Incentive Package." When Amarin rises from the ashes, their compensation will be money well worth spent. Too many good things on the horizon. This $50M stock buy back should put the PPS above $1 for good.
Voted my proxy unanimously for all proposals. Go get em Patrick. I'm liking that Amarin wants to recapture the US market. The biggest drug market on the planet.
Rose; Almost the same story with my daughter. Except when she was 3, I’d bought her $2700 worth of Netflix stock priced at $9.35. I sold it a couple months later for $9.65.
NFLX split 7:1 at around $700. Well, you get the picture… :D(
She could have gone to Harvard versus Arizona State. Little rich kid 🧒
Your probably wondering what I did with the proceeds from selling NFLX? Do you need to know or can you guess? I did reinvest it.... 😔
always; I’m a firm believer in things happen for a reason. The purpose for my post this morning was just that…shoulda, woulda, coulda…
I’m still a believer in the science of EPA.
I obviously believed in it through the years and I still believe in it. There’s “irony” in this belief it just hasn’t presented itself yet.
You’re spot on with Denner. He’s sees the value. I can’t fathom why nobody (deep pockets) wants this drug in their pipeline.
Our day will come, I feel it…
(OT), since NVDA and Amarin comparisons have been bantered about. Does anyone care for a real true to life horror story?
NVDA hit a high today if $958.92. Back in 2019, I’d bought 790 shares of NVDA in my ROTH IRA account for around $148 a share. I sold my shares and bought AMRN shares thinking it would recover.
NVDA proceeded to escalate to around $700 or so and then did a 4:1 stock split. Then it has continued to escalate up to today’s price range. Unbelievable…
I did a quick calculation. Had I held my NVDA shares my Roth account would be valued at over $3 million USD. This is a true story.
Lessons learned here is, don’t fall in love with a stock that has an unstable, unsure market strategy. This was back when JT was still running things. Then Karim and his henchmen. Now all that’s left is my hope that Denner and Company will be able to pull Amarin back from the ashes.
That’s pretty sad indeed. I’m forced to go back to work after being retired for almost 4 years.
Lizzy, Humana/ Centerwell do not offer a 100 day script. I tried, and I don't know why they don't.
Lizzy;
$32.30 for Generic 30 days. I can get Brand Vascepa for $90, 90 days.
https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/icosapent-ethyl-0_5g-capsule-vascepa/
DAR; I have Medicare Advantage Plan through Humana. I'm not sure what the current copay is for Vascepa? The last time I ordered a 90 day supply my copay it cost me $90. I opted to use Centerwell (mail order) Pharmacy.
BTW, I'm very happy with Humana as they essentially have everything covered. Dental, Optical, Gym membership, free Jeep Tours and pony rides. And Hotdogs on the weekends. :D)
GLTY
North; The only article I had trouble with is this one DMC posted.https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10557-023-07519-z#Tab3
It states that if you accept all cookies your personal information gets posted into social media. I'm very leery of Accepting cookies. I did not read all the articles DMC posted.
I am reading the United Arab Emirates article. Very impressed. I was able to Manage cookies and reject all. Now the article came up fine. Thanks.
Reading this article, I can't for the life of me understand how the medical community prescribes a Generic over Vascepa.
"Conclusion
Importantly, IPE has been endorsed by 20 international medical societies as a statin add-on treatment in patients with dyslipidemia and high CV risk. Robust medical evidence supports IPE as a pillar in the management of dyslipidemia."
I'm kinda bummed about the marijuana article. I grew six (6) plants this past summer. Bumper crop too. :D(
Great, then maybe you should cut & paste the articles for the rest of us to read. All I said was I don't care to try and get around Cookies. I already have enough spam mail.
BTW, thanks for trying DMC.
Are those Walnuts or Pecans? :D)
Sorry DMC; I don’t care much for links that make you select “Accept all cookies.”
Spain seems much more “progressivo”than UK or any of the other Western European nations.
Been watching videos on Spanish wine history and industry. Awesome.
Brits make better beer however. Including the Irish. I’d kill for a pint of Guinness from St James Gate.
Hmmm? Interesting trailer. Anthony Hopkins and Alex (I didn’t know it was loaded) Baldwin.
Thanks for the charts Capt;
Controlling costs is vital. -33% YOY is terrific cost control.
What is the problem? Does the CEO have to be a Hollywood Actor? Far better than the Old Guard that really F'd us.
Points to ponder from todays report;
Company Delivers Total Revenues of $75 Million in the Fourth Quarter and $306 Million for the Full-Year 2023 --
-- Reaffirms Year-End 2023 Cash Position of $321 Million and Full-Year Positive Cash Flow of $10 Million --
-- Company Reports Fourth Quarter 2023 Total Operating Expense of $50 Million --
-- Initiated Shareholder Approval Process to Execute a Share Repurchase Program of up to $50 Million by the End of the Second Quarter 2024 --
Amarin is "Cash Flow Positive." Total Q4 Operating expenses of $50 million? Are you kidding me? What was it under Karim and the Gang? Under Thero and the 800 sales reps?
Hi Michael, IDK about the next AGM?
Did you ever watch the movie “Draft Day” starring Kevin Costner?
An interesting portrayal of human nature.
In the end Costner kicks butt and comes out smelling like a rose.
I think AD is just like that. Don’t be discouraged. It’s only a matter of time. Some don’t have the patience or the time, but that’s what separates us in the end.
What we’re forgetting is Amarin still beat on earnings. (0.0) vs (-0.03) I was expecting a little more enthusiasm from management.
They’re playing very close to the vest.
Think about this…maybe management wants to lower the PPS? After all they did state they are buying back shares by the end of Q2.
Hang in there guys and gals. As Sherlock Holmes would say…”The Games afoot.”
2023 Earnings. Actual Q1 (-.01) vs Est (-.04), Actual Q2 (-.005) vs Est (-.04), Actual Q3 (-.005) vs Est (-.05), Actual Q4 (?) vs Est (-.03). So, Actual EPS through Q3 = (-.02). Analysts are projecting 2023 Annual EPS coming in @ (-.16).
Although I'm sure they're actually revising their basis going into tomorrow. Since we're already beating that YTD @ (-.02). Tomorrow would have to be pretty horrible to get us to (-.16).
It's not going to happen. Improved sales and improvements in managing the business with perhaps other surprises. Revenue Guidance etc.
I don't like to predict, but I would guess we get EPS of .03 - .05. .03 would be Great, .05 would be Spectacular.
Notice that Analysts lowered the Q4 from (-.04) to (-.03) from previous estimates.
GLTA tomorrow Amarin faithful, I'm getting up early to catch the news.
Except Ground Hog Day had a very happy ending. Bill Murray got married? He learned to play the piano. He got in touch with his feminine side. He did try to kill the Groundhog though….
Nice try, You must be hoping for a pop so you can short AMRN. As I recall Amarin did a dilution of $300 million @ $18 per share with Golden Sneakers being the Market Maker? This only equates to 16-20 million shares being sold at the time. So outstanding shares went from 400 million to the now current 420 million.
Please get your facts straight or at least try to get them straight before posting false information.
Jasbg; thanks for the post. Interesting study. I’m one of those individuals that gets about 5-6 hours of sleep. I usually wake up around 3-4 AM, then go back to sleep for a few hours (like stone). So, in total I’m getting 7-8 hours of relatively good sleep.
I found the second article on Cannabis and Emergency Room visits for Anxiety quite interesting also. The article says that THC levels in Cannabis from the 60s to now has increased ten (10) fold. Perhaps causing more hallucinations. I can believe it.
I’m wondering if Amarin is starting a tradition here, by having an Earnings Call on February 29th? :D)
Then they wouldn’t have to post Q4 earnings but every 4 years. It would be nice to have some consistency when posting earnings.
I like how Amarin management is asking for questions from shareholders. I’m thinking we should flood the switchboard with some real world questions like; Are there any plans for resubmitting reimbursement from Germany? How about plans for doing a joint venture with a big partner?
Oops me bad, no earnings today. I’m still excited though the eternal optimist in me thinks we’ll see some surprises.
Amarin usually posts earnings pre-market. So wake up early before markets in the US open. You'll be able to tell from pre-market. GLTA
Analysts projecting (-.03) earnings. Don't be surprised if we beat that and show positive earnings. Plus maybe some news on the European and Asian fronts? Y'all don't think Amarin puts out all information on a preliminary update do yah?
Q3 Analysts had us at (-.05) Amarin came in at (-.005)
Maybe even some revised 2024 Guidance?
I have this weird feeling that Holt is going to surprise us on Wednesday? Maybe some good news that they didn’t already disclose previously?
Sunday comics…now that takes me back!! “Blondie” with the Bumsteads!! It’s amazing how the comics become part of our culture.
Dagwood Bumstead invented the “Dagwood sandwich” to this day I often refer to a big sandwich as a “Dagwood” I often tease people when I see them making a sandwich.
“Lil Abner” and “Kick-a-poo joy juice”
Dick Tracy invented the Apple Watch.
Peanuts with Snoopy. My neighbors named their dog Snoopy
Thanks Capt; any reason the particular names are underlined? Are these the presenters? Keep on putting Vascepa's name out there, eventually the tides will change.
Perhaps good fortune will fall on us by the "Idus Februarias," a Roman holiday, falls on what is now the 13th of February in our modern Gregorian calendar. The Ides were a religious festival that actually went on for 9 days, from the 13th through to the 21st of February inclusive.
Unlike the "Ides of March" :D)
Upcoming earnings report falls on February 14th.
Of course dropped passes and errant "hurried" throws didn't help much either. A team pep talk on the sidelines after the 49ers scored their 2nd touchdown in quick fashion may have helped solidify and get the Lions heads back into the game as well. Just like in basketball, coaches call time out when the other team seems to have the momentum. "One has to get their mind right..." Cool Hand Luke.
The armchair Quarterback.... :D(
Condolence's to all the Detroit fans. They (Lions) had a 17 point lead starting the 2nd Half. No excuses for allowing 27 unanswered points. Plus....Coach, take the points (field goal) instead of going 4th down and 3 yards. Lombardi would be turning in his grave. Detroit would have at least tied the score had they gone for the field goal and made that last touchdown.
Bouf; no problem about my vote. I voted for Trump. If it means anything?
Rose; Thanks for your post. Yes, we're eluded to thinking that our Government model should be run more effectively and efficiently. Because we hire only the best and brightest. Case in point: Amarin's "Hubris" preceding the Dusaster.
I've been watching an HBO TV series called "ROME" A very well done series I'm able to check out from my local library. I recommend everyone watch it. Very interesting indeed. The main character of course is Julius Caesar, played by Ciarán Hinds.
A memorable line in the movie comes to mind; Julius Caesar and Marc Antony are discussing plans for the transition of Rome. Caesar makes a bold statement that Marc Antony remarks to Caesar that is rather "Arrogant or Hubris" in nature. Caesar remarks; "It is only considered hubris, if one fails to achieve their objective."
Had Amarin been successful at defending it's patents, well, we wouldn't be where we're at currently. How poignant?
Bouf: My vote is my business. Don't get me wrong. I believe Amarin was dealt a lethal blow by the courts.... period. What happened afterwards was all on Amarin.
Without rehashing things. My point being IMHO , based on simple logic (workload) SCOTUS wasn't going to hear about overturning a decision by a lower court about some small biotech with patent issues. I'm sure SCOTUS may have even read Judge Du's briefs, which made sense to them at the time. Based upon evidence presented. "But officer.... I wasn't exceeding the speed limit." Sorry, I clocked you going 15 mph over the speed limit. What, you're going to go to court and pay money to perform a calibration check on the officers speed gun?
Now, maybe with the right influence (Carl Icahn), Alex Denner could re-appeal the courts decision again (maybe?). Frankly, I don't see that happening, too much water under the bridge. I think Denner is the type to move on, figure out some other way to bolster the company. His mantra is to "fix" undervalued companies and sell them. Don't waste time and resources.
