There was a post around this weekend talking about nobody caring about the aesthetics of the case on a phone. Apple will want pretty and innovative... They always have. Regardless of your opinions on if BMG alloys and how nice they look is irrelevant for the purpose of my post. I personally like it but that's me. Not to mention early adopters.
My point to bring up here is that even if the cool factor on the looks for the case aren't the motivating factor, Apple would want something innovative. I would think most would agree that sapphire in the next phone is a pretty likely possibility and that a pretty good step in the direction.
Putting the pieces together pretty conservatively, the apple patent for sapphire display is based on the LQMT alloy, it applies to the bond between the special glass and Liquidmetal specifically. So what's good for sapphire is good for LQMT. I know he patent was awarded only recently, but even there, products are mass produced everyday while only patent pending
Now reading a little a little further into this,. Apple has a pretty big ego when it comes to coming out with new things and keeping secrets. And There's no question LQMT has been used in a phone in the past, but was there really anything special about that phone other than durability (that wasn't really pushed BTW)? I think it was an attempt at commercialization albeit pretty rushed and under polished, but would anyone outside this board remember the Acer phone from 10 years ago with a polished bezel? Now just humor this idea. What if apple wanted to be the first to REALLY commercialize and introduce the world to this "space age" material. It would be a shame if it had been beat to the punch by a pretty stapler. What if there was some sort of agreement (even if unwritten) between LQMT and Apple that gave Apple the chance to formally introduce the material to the mainstream? There's a lot more in it for LQMT to drag their feet and to let Apple dictate rollout. Advertising alone would be worth a boat load towards lining up new accounts. Bromage would have a pretty easy job in terms of getting business, but it would take some someone with a material background and organizational skills to move the sales process forward with a sudden influx of business. (Something Chung and Steipp don't have). So it would have been smart to hire this guy if they saw things down the road.
I think LQMT could easily keep something like that under wraps. After all, have any of you been on any of the conference calls.? A nice quote from a favorite movie applies here. LQMT" is great and treating their [shareholders] like mushrooms... Feeding them poop and keeping them in the dark." I had to butcher it, but didn't want to get censored, but you get the point. They've been scheduling conference calls and releases within a day or so of Apples Conferences for a while now. Could be coincidence, but in think it's just manipulating to keep interest up.
Just food for thought. I'm not going to convert any haters, some May have bought in and lost some money, others like when the price goes down for profit, or to gain position, I really don't care. If you don't like the stock, sell, cut your losses. But other than entertainment value of beating a dead horse, what's the motivator in lamenting about a stock you don't own? On the same note, don't bite off more than you can chew.
It'd be nice to see some American production, I'd totally pay a little more for a "blue" iPhone to signify it was made here. I know they got a lot of flack for that on the last iphone since it was made in a foreign country in poor working conditions, not to mention the deadlines not being met and relatively little control over a subcontractor so far away. CA would be a pretty easy place to do business between the two. Little travel, same language, quick turnaround for prototypes with engineers.
enough ranting and what-ifs for tonight. Everybody would have to admit that this would make a cool phone or watch. And it would be something with a little more innovation and sticking the headphone port on the bottom of the phone instead of the top of something that looks pretty much the same. Could be this time, could be much later, but there have been a ton of patents and attention given to this stuff recently. A tesla contract would be pretty cool too. A cool product would benefit from a cool new material.
Anyway, say whatever you want, anything can happen
