Has anyone seen or know the product throughput of Materion? Or their mining / supply chain?
I know their are many dreamers, but a level of realism would suggest an expensive material cost will keep it from being mainstream. Period.
Do you dreamers think Apple could source rare earth materials in amounts such as aluminum the most abundant earth crust metal?
What will be as breakthrough is when scientists can produce BMG with an Aluminum alloy with extremely low amounts rare earth.
We see the feasibility of this concept in large production throughput of electronics containing rare earth materials in low density amounts.
Until that point, we are a small throughput, low profit margin company. The future value is in our intellectual property.
I could do the cost per tonnage calculations to determine a mining equivalency to aluminum. From that point you can back calculate a rate of production conducive to similar apple costs. That would dictate the amount of material or lack of rare earth materials needed to be mixed AND still be formed in BMG. The Scientists know the Achilles heel of this tech is the high amounts rare earth metal for mass scale production. Engel has gotten the production licked as far as we know. Now newer formulations are in my opinion the needed focus.
