706 has been towed from the parking area and put in front of a
hangar, this means work will start again.
I hope this is all true.I'll let you know when 706 is back
in the hangar.
engines are in the hangar,so are the pylons.
How would you deliver the acft to another company for a D check?
706 does'nt even have pylons mounted.
Can you clue us in on this agreed to time line?
It's not a matter of money.706 did'nt have a scheduled hangar slot,it was being worked on in between scheduled acft.In May it
has a scheduled slot. With luck a D check could be done in two
months,it all depends on what sort of problems you run into.
706 has lost hangar priority to a scheduled acft,it's back in
the parking area.706 is scheduled for hangar space in May,at
which time a D check is due.
based on talks with people working on 706,who say there's a
lot of work ahead of them.
The C check is not "scheduled" for 5 weeks, that is just my
guess (post 20396).As yet, there is no fixed completion date.
I think my guess was too optimistic.
Dick Adis was also an inspector at Kalitta. He's very familiar
with the Oscoda operation.
My guess is about five weeks.
706 finally in hangar for C check.
Work on the acft currently in the hangar is behind schedule.
706 should start C check within a week.
N606KR very busy last six days, including flight to Oscoda Mi
to show 706 to investors.
pylons will be installed after 706 is hangared.
706 will have hangar space in about two weeks,to continue C check.
Ask Barry how much money is still owed Kalitta.
"C" check and pylon work is why.The engines are stored in
Kalitta hangar #2.
It looks like an 80's or 90's cabin, nothing special.
All the seats are in.
706 was towed back to its parking spot this morning. Not much work
accomplished.I hear hangar space for "c" check will be available
next month.
706 is not in a hangar with a high work priority.Three days ago it
was towed to an active maintenance area and some low level interior work is being done. All the hangars here are full.I've
heard that Baltia is buying two pylons from Kalitta.
I don't know about the training.
THe "C" check and pylon work has been started but put on hold.
Kalitta is doing 6 or 7 "C" checks at the same time right now.
The hangars are full and manpower stretched thin. The acft being
worked on have jobs to do and can't wait.706 is unemployed and
can wait a little.
The engines for 706 are in Kalitta hangar# 2.
706 was in the hangar close to a week.I don't know how much
work was done, particularly inside the acft.I do know the pylons
were removed, and that's nowhere near as easy as it sounds.
Wikipedia notwithstanding,it takes Kalitta about a month
to do a 747 c check.706 will take longer.A day or two after
the Facebook pictures were taken 706 was towed back to a
parking spot.Hangar priority was given to a Kalitta 747.
706 c check is still in progress but at a much slower pace.
it's common knowledge to everyone at kalitta,
where I work, and to the Baltia rep who is
present during the "C" check.
706 was towed into the hangar for "C" check today.
No rumor.
the answer to all your questions is no.
706 may not be flying for another six months (c check,
certification,winter,etc),stopping the engine lease
would save money.Fuel for engine runs would also be one
expense less.Three days ago the acft APU was started,
electric and hydraulic power applied and flight controls
operated. The acft doors were opened to air it out and
it was moved a little to keep the tires from flattening.
Kalitta does this every week, and you dont'need engines,
which can be leased back later.
pylon inspection should be done in conjuction with a C check
while engines are being overhauled in the shop
engines were removed 10/25/12
Orvie:none
706 has had its engines removed for indoor storage at the
leasing company's request. The acft is due for a C check in
Dec,so the engines would have to come off soon anyway.I've
heard from several Kalitta people that Baltia still owes
them around half a million.
Acft looks fine.Had engine runs yesterday.
I work at Oscoda airport.
706 has been towed to the active maintenance area.Word has it
that Baltia wants it out of Oscoda soon. The acft is named
"Spirit of Kathleen".Who is she?
