Well color me disappointed. Nothing really new, no "through the roof" numbers on iPhone or Mac sales (they sure haven't been shy about sharing them before), and where the hell is Ihnatko's "fist-pumping" moment of joy?
a la google.docs
Except not free.
"One more thing" is an updated 17" macbook pro.
Alas, it did not come with an immediate buying op on the stock.
45 minutes in and it's only been iLife so far...zzzzzzzzz....
Hey man, Ihnatko is promising a fist-pumping, big stupid grin-inducing announcement. They'd better deliver!
:)
Won't run on PDP-11s, either.
Well it's about freakin' time...

From the anecdote side of things...of the folks in my circle picking up smartphones over the past 3 months, they chose Blackberry over iPhone at a roughly 2:1 clip. These are "personal" phones, not tied to corporate usage.
Covered AAPL short puts taken ~7 weeks back - no exposure to it at all going into the keynote. In fact I'm back to over 90% cash again. Will probably reload when VIX goes back to 80 and the market makes a meaningful historic low in a few months.
Bear market rallies are beautiful things...
What's a healthy weight gaining diet for someone like him?
Eating vegetarians would be a good start.
Hey has anyone seen Lango? He's like dropped off the face of the earth again...
Besides, this is the guy setting himself up for serious disappointment...
I now have a piece of information that will put a big damned smile on the face of any Apple fan. Just a big, fist-pumping expression of glee.
No, I can’t tell you what it is.
Yes, I’m just a big no-fun jerk.
See, before I was told this thing, I agreed to go off the record. Then I was told that thing, and I immediately said that I took back what I said about going off the record because this was just too damned cool. But…a promise is indeed a promise. I wouldn’t even be saying this much if I hadn’t cleared it first.
As long as the Juniors win tomorrow night, nothing APPL fails to announce is gonna hurt all that much Tuesday morning. :)
OLEDs in "2x iPhone" sizes are more or less ready for mass production, here's hoping for some edge-dancing magic from AAPL.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. Not only is the MBA available at huge discount from Apple itself, but the store has a nice click-through specifically for it right on the main store page.
I'd like to think it's because we're getting the tablet on Tuesday, but alas it's more likely the things were selling in Cube-like quantities. But spring hopes eternal!
Yeah, exactly. The higher-end Nikons have the ability to (more or less) work with pretty much any lens Nikon has ever made. The D40 has reduced capability for this - in particular it cannot autofocus any lens that doesn't have an internal focusing motor. And some lenses won't allow the metering to do its magic. Etc.
There are various compatibility charts floating around...
http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html
It actually sounds worse than it is - virtually all "modern" lenses will work with it as expected, anybody starting from scratch has little to worry about.
Canon approached the problem by completely redesigning the lens mount when they went to internal lens motors. Makes thinks simpler, but also puts a brick wall between "modern" and "ancient".
Neither Canon nor Nikon make a bad dSLR - the D40 is just fine as long as you're not expecting to use legacy lenses (and if that doesn't mean anything to you, you aren't :) ).
Um....
....it was a joke.
Well if that's true and "one more thing" is being intro'ed by Shiller we can only conclude that Jobs is on death's door.
Keynote rehearsal shot:

Is it just me, or does Shiller look sick?
Hopefully the "delay" is too allow large supply of OLED in that size to come reliably available.
I have avoided both these 2 stocks for years because Intel has destroyed the value in both...
Wow, that clarifies your posts a lot for me, thanks. This is IMO a very defensible position, whether one agrees with it or not. Maybe not so much when the stock is pushing $10 - but we're suddenly a fair bit away from that level again.
Best of luck in ~'09.
LOL! EOM.
DVI->HDMI is not an Apple-like solution. It needs to be real HDMI if the intent is to use a TV as a display.
If that isn't part of the intent, it's moot, and they can put whatever they want back there.
IMO etc.
...so the mini can subsume the AppleTV?...
Doesn't seem likely - not without an HDMI port.
They better keep some legacy video ports.
Are we saying the same thing?
...then the time people want to be in the market is RIGHT NOW.
Possibly. Still worth keeping in mind that the US equity markets are still a long way from the kinds of earnings multiples traditionally associated with long term bottoms.
Will be an interesting '09, for sure.
Is that the link you actually meant to paste in?
How is using Linux going to hurt Intel?
Was gonna say...thought IBM had made the transition to being a "Services" company a decade ago...
"...approves issue...will be issued..."
Round and round we go - they picked the wrong day to release - is this the annual announcement for 2008 (North American time zones) or 2009 (Chinese time zones)?!
Somehow I have doubts about Microsoft producing a viable solution to the Kobayashi Maru dilemna.
Here's hoping...all our App artwork is being done at 2x resolution just in case. :)
"...two men were seen driving off in a late model Chevrolet..."
Ah, ok, it was part of the GM bailout plan, then.
Agreed, it is a false rumor that Steve is fine.
Cheers!
What do you have to offer to make it worth telling you?
If that piddly-*** movement is a "run" and not just noise, then we're all screwed.
Shot with the Panasonic LX3.
Oh, you have one? It's the first compact I actually like - very nice job they did with it - nice to see actual wide angles coming back into the consumer realm!
But why didn't you spring for the Leica re-badge? :)
Future Shop. Got the flyer this morning.
A whack of first-gen iPhones has shown up locally. I thought these things were sold out long ago?
I'm guessing the software doesn't calculate all the emissions being generated by coal burned to shovel terabits of data across the network.
