ahem, the shop closed b/c a hurricane is about to hit and they have families and property to tend to, and i'm sure they are under at least a voluntary, if not mandatory, evacuation order.
good logic. they didn't pr that the sun rose today, so it must not have. all that work we've seen on the cameras for the past couple months is probably just for practice.
What's up??? Let's go!!!!!
wow. thanks 4mars, joe, brikk etal.
Morgan City newspaper http://www.daily-review.com/
thanks 4mars (and all), we're fine! eom.
Also, keep in mind that Mako can be run with a cell phone. They rent heavy duty equipment that, for the most part, does not need to be covered, and when business is good the equipment is out in the field and their lot is empty anyway.
. . . unless the forecasted tracks "flatten" out. click here for latest models http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200809_model.html#a_topad
of course, that could be my wishful thinking.
Only 1 of the 5 models currently has a possible eastern Louisiana landfall for Ike, with the rest showing more easterly routes.
NP. We in the Morgan City area took a much harder hit from Hurricane Andrew in 92 than we did this time from Gustav.
I'm relatively sure Mako's ROV's are insured as part of their business equipment, and they also would likely have some other business interuption coverage that would kick in if any were actually damaged. Given the extremes that ROV's endure, something heavy would probably have to fall directly on top of one to damage it. The bigger risk to Mako is just physical facility damage, and most of us were fairly lucky and avoided major damage here. I'm here 7 miles west of Morgan City, and although we had some high sustained winds for a little while, it was more damaging just to the east of Morgan City, and we fared alot better than our neighbors to the east in Houma and Terrebonne/Ascension parishes. I think it's safe to say that a large majority of Morgan City has utility services restored, and I'm fairly certain Mako is fine. There also wasn't as much damage to the oil industry as expected, but I'm sure there is still plenty of new work for Mako due to the storm.
yes, some companies have contracts in place to reserve equipment. those that don't should be booking about now too.
Mako should be booking some $$ right now in emergency rentals.
not really. morgan city is not where you want to be right now.
about 10 miles from the coastline.
i though oil was uptrending the past few days, no?
oh, i think there can be plenty of pop even after a storm, when damage assesments start flowing in.
personally, i think we are being held down by mm. imo, hurricane speculation should be driving us up by now.
both of them could be tasty targets to bigger players
If you read between the lines, Masters is saying he thinks the most accurate model for this particular storm is the GDFL model, which is predicting a New Orleans area landfall. This could mean another Katrina type effect on the oilfield, which benefitted Mako nicely. Hopefully not another Katrina on land though.
thru perry
Mako should be starting to ramp up for Gustav, imo.
i wonder how many companies like Triton look at DDI, like a big fish eyeing a tasty sardine.
sorta like looking down the barrel of a gun.
looks like 4 of the 5 models have Gustav aiming from New Orleans to Mobile, with the remaining model aiming to the TX/LA border area. the central to eastern GOM will be evacuated, no doubt. the entire GOM may shut down if it wobbles just a bit more to the west.
the adx appears to be doing just what claytrader said we need it to do!
good deal. i'll take about a nickel a day from now on!
official close??
can we hit .70????
What's L2 looking like? Are we cleared for takeoff yet?
fwiw, and i could be wrong, but i think it's been discussed quite a bit around here that ddi gets paid upon delivery, and i don't they they book it until then either. that's probably standard for the industry. possible exceptions could be high ticket custom items, but most of our business would qualify for that term. maybe payment for stuff like proteus could be collected/booked in advance of actual delivery. guess we'll see what steve says.
soyelpato and fourkids, marks from me.
look, a lucky blue horseshoe! ;)
those advocating a stop to the rollup need to wake tf up and realize you're in a rollup stock. as for what the next target will be, no one saw flotec coming, and chances are no one will see the next flotec coming. don't kid yourself, there are hundreds of niches for ddi to expand into in this industry, and they'll pick a high growth company in one soon, like yesterday soon i hope. that is, after all, the plan. and i hope we yahoos are never able to correctly predict the next acquisition. and i hope they don't stop here for you to catch your breath and settle for being a mom and pop stand, and tidy up the rearview to your liking. thank god they didn't stop at mako when folks were saying the same things. who knows, maybe the next move is a merger with a nyse company? and no, they aren't going to do pr's just to stimulate the pps. they don't do that. not just another pinky, at all.
yawn. wake me if Ron & Gene leave.
i agree 100%. thanks for all the dd contributions from every single poster on this board from the top (Brikk, Joe, etc.) down. Recently I've been very impressed with the stock gurus on this board, who can break down share structure and parse L2 to let us know exactly wtf is going on. Way over my head, but I love that we have folks that have that aptitude. I'm leaving a million of you other guys out, I know, I'm sorry. I appreciate anyone who brings relevant info to this board.
peace,
MK
